FX has finally released an official trailer for the upcoming seventh season of American Horror Story. The new one-minute American Horror Story: Cult trailer opens in Michigan in 2016 and shows Sarah Paulson’s horrified reaction to the news Donald Trump won the presidential election. AHS: Cult‘s trailer also briefly introduces characters played by Evan Peters, Alison Pill, Billie Lourd, and Cheyenne Jackson.
Politics and clowns mix in the first-look footage as Paulson’s character, Ally, appears to have a fear of both, and visits to her therapist aren’t helping. John Carroll Lynch’s Twisty the Clown makes an appearance in doll form, while Peters’ Kai Anderson seems to be a leader of a cult that takes pleasure from fear and terror.
FX has set a September 5, 2017 at 10pm ET/PT premiere for American Horror Story: Cult. The cast also includes Emma Roberts, Frances Conroy, Mare Winningham, Colton Haynes, Billy Eichner, and Leslie Grossman.

The Plot: Set in 1892, Hostiles tells the story of a legendary Army Captain (Christian Bale) who, after stern resistance, reluctantly agrees to escort a dying Cheyenne war chief (Wes Studi) and his family back home to tribal lands. Making the harrowing and perilous journey from New Mexico to the grasslands of Montana, the former rivals encounter a young widow (Rosamund Pike) whose family was murdered on the plains. Together, they must join forces to overcome the punishing landscape, hostile Comanche, and vicious outliers they encounter along the way.

The CW’s Riverdale will return for what series creator/executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa confirmed will be another difficult year for the high school friends. Season two isn’t going to be any less stressful for Archie and his gang as they deal with school, relationships, and family problems.
Aguirre-Sacasa was teamed up with Casey Cott, who plays Kevin Keller in the popular series based on the Archie Comics, for roundtable interviews at the 2017 San Diego Comic-Con, and both discussed not only the most difficult scenes of the series but also what’s in store for the Riverdale gang. Season two is set to premiere on October 11, 2017.
Will the group be splintered or broken up, or will they draw closer together in season two?
Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa: “That’s a good question. Well, Jughead is going to Southside High which is the big thing. And it’s funny, in the first episode because it’s really focused on the direct aftermath of season one, the gang is together which is really, really nice. And even in season two, Pop’s – which is the iconic symbol of Riverdale – is under fire so the gang kind of comes together to save that. And I think partly it was those were just the stories we were telling, but partly was I didn’t want to start splitting them up until episode three. You can start seeing cracks amongst the group. It’s a big episode for Kevin, and some of the core relationships like Kevin and Betty’s friendship gets really tested.”
Casey Cott: “After 13 episodes, I can say there was a lot of drama in season one but there was a lot of relationships that have underlying, underbelly drama waiting to kind of explode. I think that it starts to in a very organic way and it’s really wonderful to play.”
Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa: “For me, the reason I loved growing up with the Archie characters is because I wanted to be friends with those kids. Like, that was it. I’ve been trying to do this show for the last 15 years. I would talk about it before and get, ‘Why are you obsessed with the Archie characters?’ and I said, ‘Why am I obsessed? It’s because I want to be friends with them.’ So, despite all of the things, I think at the core, it’s a show about there is always an aspirational element to be friends with these kids. So, there’s always trouble, but I hope they’ll always come together. I hope.”
What’s been the most emotional or difficult scene to work on?
Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa: “I think for me the thing that’s most upsetting is honestly when Betty and Veronica fight. There’s only one or two moments in season one where they fight and it’s really upsetting to me. There’s also in season two in the premiere, it’s a really stressful time for Archie and he and Veronica have a very fractured moment in times of stress. And it’s really upsetting when they’re not together, so that for me is the hardest thing to write.”
Casey Cott: “The most difficult scenes I’ve had have been in season two, in terms of intensity. I think one scene that was pretty tricky was during the pilot was first of all the starting of Moose and I walking down that lane and then discovering Jason’s body. I mean, I don’t know if you’ve discovered a dead body by the river but that was a really cool shot. I remember it was very technical and tripping over his leg and then popping up and seeing the body in the water. That was probably the trickiest because it’s also a scene you’ve got to get right.”
Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa: “I have a vivid memory that was the next to the last day. It was the last time we were going to be in the mountains. It was the last shot of the day. We were over and the producer was like, ‘We’re going to pull the plug. We’re going to pull the plug,’ and we’re like, ‘We haven’t gotten it!’ It was so stressful.”
Casey Cott: “And it was my first episode ever, so I was like, ‘I’m doing something wrong.’ But luckily most of the scenes, honestly, we have such a good rapport that after you say the words a couple of times it just becomes pretty organic. (Laughing) The writers are okay.”
Now that you’ve established season one are ready to start exploring the further Archie-verse?
Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa: “Yeah, we are introducing other characters for sure. And yeah, listen, my dream is to be able to bring to life the other Archie franchises kind of like the way Greg (Berlanti) has brought to life so many of the superhero franchises. But you know it’s like in a way your first love is your truest love, so there’s so much to do with Riverdale. There’s so many characters and stories, but I’d love to do that, that’s for sure.”
The CW’s Supernatural Season 12’s finale left a few characters possibly/probably dead, with Castiel among the likely deceased. Misha Collins says that every year prior to doing interviews at the San Diego Comic Con, the cast of Supernatural’s provided with a list of items they’re allowed to talk about for the upcoming season. This year, Collins’ list for Castiel simply said, “Well, nobody’s really dead forever on Supernatural.”
What’s going on with Castiel when the season picks up?
Misha Collins: […] “I’ll just tell you everything that’s going on in the first eight episodes to spite them. So, we find Cas dead. Surprise, surprise. And the most relevant aspect of Castiel’s death this time is how it plays out, how the boys process Castiel’s death. So, ultimately, as the season plays out, Castiel’s death is going to be less important for him because he was just dead than it is for the boys who go through the grieving process and really have to process the loss of their friend.
When he does come back as more than a lifeless body, we find him in a realm that we’ve talked about on Supernatural but we’ve never seen. And, he finds himself alone in this realm with only one other companion who is another powerful being played by a great actor. I can tell you that.”
How would you describe Castiel’s growth over the years in his relationship with the Winchester brothers, and how has that been as an actor to play?
Misha Collins: “I don’t think that there are very many parallels for actors because what we’re doing is actually really weird. We’re playing the same character in an evolving set of circumstances over the course of more than a decade. So, you never get to do that on a play; you rarely get to do that on a television series. I mean, super rarely. It’s very uncommon. And not only that, but layer on top of that the fact that these characters go through circumstances that change wildly and they go through these incredibly life-changing… I mean, we all die but we also take on other personalities.
We get all pop culture downloaded with the snap of the fingers. We change radically in short periods of time, and then also there’s this very gradual morphing that happens over time. Ultimately, I think it ends up being a fairly unconscious process. Like, we are taking in the information and the characters are changing as the storyline dictates. But I don’t think that we’re trying to remember all of the stuff. It’s just sort of become a part of us.
It’s more organic to the process than I would have expected. I would have expected we’d have to sit down and run over things in our heads and refresh our memories about what’s going on. And in fact, it’s more like just having a personality that is changing. I think that’s how the characters develop.”

Krypton won’t premiere on Syfy until 2018, however attendees at the 2017 San Diego Comic Con had the opportunity to get the scoop on the series from the show’s star Cameron Cuffe and executive producers Damian Kindler and Cameron Welsh. The series is set two generations before Superman and focuses on Superman’s grandfather and his fight to redeem the House of El’s name. Sitting down for roundtable interviews, Cameron Cuffe talked about playing Seyd-El, his love of comic books, and the world in which the upcoming series takes place.
What’s it been like entering the world of Superman so far?
Cameron Cuffe: “It’s thrilling. Before I was ever an actor I was just a dude who loved movies and comic books, so it’s epic for me to be here.”
Can you talk about your character and where we pick up with him at the start of the series?
Cameron Cuffe: “My character, Seyg-El, is the eventual grandfather of Superman. He is the scion of the once great House of El that was once at the very top of Kryptonian society. Through no fault of his own, it has been stripped of its rank and sent to the very bottom. Essentially, he’s left for dead. So when we meet him, he’s been growing up in a very, very harsh environment where he has to struggle to survive. And so the elements of this legacy that’s out there and this sense of whatever it was that his family stood for, he’s sort of very isolated from, he’s very separate from. What’s real for him, and the stakes for him, is just making sure he gets through another day. That’s where we meet him at the beginning of our story.”
What are some of the key relationships in the story?
Cameron Cuffe: “In Krypton, we have some incredible characters as well as other Houses. One of them is with Lyta Zod. We have a fantastic actor, Georgina Campbell, who’s playing that role. She’s epic in it. So, within Krypton there’s a very precise society and there’s a Guild system. She’s within the military guild, she’s a soldier, and Seyg is a hustler from the streets. And, it should be oil and water and especially in a society that is leaning authoritarian. They have very precise ideas about who you are, what you can do, and what you can stand for. And so for that to happen is an act of rebellion. That is probably the most central relationship for Seyg-El in the show.”
You want to make this your own character but as an actor are you interested in honoring the legacy of Christopher Reeve and everyone who came before you?
Cameron Cuffe: “Our first exposure with this character for a lot of us would have been Christopher Reeve’s magnificent performance, and the credence he gave not only to Superman but to Clark Kent. I love his performance and everything he did as a person, too. But, for me it’s about the new story. This is forging a new path and people aren’t really sure what to expect. That’s one of the most exciting things for us is delivering a new story that is set within this fantastic world that has this great history that we’re so proud to be a part of.”
Did you watch all the movies and read Superman comics?
Cameron Cuffe: “Since I could read. I grew up in the time of the great animated series so I watched Batman, Superman, and Batman Beyond so I knew who these guys were. That was the time when nerd culture was starting to become pop culture. And then I think I was 10 and I was wandering around a book shop. I found one of those big encyclopedias on Batman and I was like, ‘There were three Robins!’ That was the first time I realized how deep these stories were and how interconnected their relationships were. It blew my mind. It is mythology. And since then, the first trade paperback I bought was Geoff Johns’ Teen Titans and that was the thing that made me a convert. I’ve been buying comic books ever since.”
Then how did it feel when you got this role?
Cameron Cuffe: “As an actor, I started out in London. I was doing stage and I aspired to do stage and indie films for the rest of my career, so this was something I never even dreamed of. It was so far off the radar for me and I was content to be a fan. So now that I’m a part of it, it’s just a dream. It doesn’t feel real. I feel like I’m going to wake up any second.”
Will Seyg-El have help clearing his name?
Cameron Cuffe: “Yes. So much of the story is how that ‘S’ comes to mean what it means to us now. And, Seyg isn’t a complete character when he begins, and he needs to fill that role as well. So, yes, that is one of his primary motivators for sure.”
Will there be a romance?
Cameron Cuffe:“Yes, there is the forbidden relationship with Lyta Zod. It’s a star-crossed romance.”
Is the show connected to the DC film universe or is it a stand-alone thing?
Cameron Cuffe: “The thing is DC is so great in letting people grow and develop their own paths. We don’t want to answer that question just yet. We want to forge our path, that’s the most important thing. Tell the best story we can while paying homage to the things that have come up before and the things that are coming up now. I can tell you there will be some things you’d be familiar with that you might not expect to see on Krypton.”
