‘Designated Survivor’ Season 1 Episode 19 Recap and Review: Misalliance

“Use every resource available to you but find Agent Wells,” says President Kirkman (Kiefer Sutherland) to John Forstell (Reed Diamond) and Special Agent Mike Ritter (LaMonica Garrett) who have just informed the President that Agent Wells has been kidnapped in season one episode 19 of ABC’s Designated Survivor. As the episode begins, an unconscious Agent Hannah Wells (Maggie Q) is taken out of the van and put in a large storage container. One of Lozano’s thugs puts shackles on her hands and feet, leaves her mouth covered by masking tape, and locks her in.

At the White House, First Lady Alex Kirkman (Natascha McElhone) is talking to a tour of school kids when President Kirkman makes a surprise appearance, even taking a photo with the kids. He’s approached by former President Richmond’s son who’s their teacher and he asks the president if he could help the school get its grant renewed. If not, the music program the kids are in will end. Kirkman tells a cute story of how he tried to learn an instrument but, alas, he wasn’t very good at it. He believes the experience was important, so he tells the young man he’ll see what he can do.

Forstell checks in with Ritter and tells him that even though Agent Wells does things her way, she would have reported in by now. They check on her at her hotel and immediately determine she was never in her hotel room. They pull the video security footage and see Wells being abducted.

Meanwhile, Hookstraten (Virginia Madsen) is being grilled by the Ethics Committee on her Turkey scandal. It becomes clear very quickly that most of the new Congress want her gone.

Over at the White House, Ritter and Forstell inform President Kirkman of Wells’ kidnapping and he gives them the go-ahead to use all their resources to find her. They also bring him up to speed about Patrick Lloyd (Terry Serpico) possibly being involved in the kidnapping as well as the attack on the Capitol.

Jason Atwood (Malik Yoba) visits a shop to pick up some necessary spy equipment so he can keep tabs on Patrick Lloyd as he promised he would for Wells. He pays a security guard at the metal detector Lloyd will go through before delivering his speech to his followers to swap his lapel pin for another that’s really a tracking device.

Hookstraten meets with Kirkman after her hearing and isn’t sure how it went. Kirkman says he’ll stand by her no matter what. He also asks if she can use her influence to fast-track the grant for the school. Hookstraten admits that with the investigation going on, she has very little clout. Plus, the congressman heading up the school grants program is her adversary. She suggests Kirkman reach out to him instead. Kirkman does as she recommended, but the meeting doesn’t go well and Congressman Saluda is unwilling to fast-track the grant.

Patrick Lloyd delivers his “Take America back speech” to an excited crowd that includes FBI agents who are surveilling him without him knowing it. Afterward, Lloyd drives off with Atwood following him not too far behind.

Aaron (Adan Canto) reaches out to his cousin to try to find out how Hookstraten is doing with the Ethics Committee. To his disappointment, she tells him it will most likely be a 9 to 3 vote against her. Aaron gives Hookstraten the bad news and she says might have one last hurrah to play before she’s voted out. She meets with Saluda and tells him she’ll resign the speakership and her seat but only if he authorizes the grant for the school. Later, Hookstraten meets with President Kirkman and tells him the deal she struck. Shocked, Kirkman tells her he refuses to accept her stepping down and has other plans for her.

Out in the woods – nothing good ever happens in the woods on this show – Atwood is listening to a conversation with his spy equipment between Patrick Lloyd and Homeland Security Adviser Jay Whitaker (Richard Waugh). He hears them admit they have detained Agent Wells and have been giving the reporter Abe Leonard (Rob Morrow) misinformation. Atwood also discovers the Statue of Liberty, the Golden Gate Bridge, and the Hoover Dam are all just decoys, too. Suddenly, Atwood hears a noise nearby and goes to check on it only to discover a deer. Atwood turns to go back and is shot twice by one of the conspiracy thugs and left for dead.

Forstell and Ritter track down some files during their investigation and realize someone deleted files. They plan on setting a trap for that person because whoever it is is the traitor. They inform the President about their plan and Ritter wants Kirkman to bring extra security along to the National Summit. Kirkman tells Ritter to handpick the agents but that he needs him to stay with Forstell and find the traitor and Wells.

Later, Alex, noticing something is bothering Tom, tells him to tell her what he can so she can help him and be there for him. “I asked someone to do something for me and it might cost them their life,” says Tom to Alex who hugs him close. Right before the school’s musical performance, Kirkman makes an announcement that Hookstraten has been chosen as his Secretary of Education nominee. Seems Hookstraten isn’t leaving D.C. anytime soon.

Wells has been brought a sandwich while trapped in the storage container but hasn’t eaten it. She tells the thug checking on her she can’t reach it and as he goes to take off her chains, he doesn’t realize Wells has already picked the locks and freed herself. She attacks and uses his own knock-out syringe against him. She makes a run for it only to quickly discover that she’s on a barge in the middle of the ocean.

Designated Survivor Season 1 Episode 19 Review:

Intriguing and surprising, episode 19 titled “Misalliance” moves the conspiracy forward a little with the revelation that the landmark clues are all red herrings and the big shocks of Atwood getting shot (perhaps fatally) and Wells trapped on the high seas. Unfortunately, the political storyline of saving a school’s art program although timely is not all that exciting and does very little to move the main storyline forward. Also, this is the first episode to put Natascha McElhone’s character, Alex, in a “supportive wife in the background” role. Alex doesn’t have her own real storyline but is simply there to provide Tom with emotional support.

With Wells somewhere on the ocean and President Kirkman headed for the summit, this could be what the people behind the conspiracy have been waiting for to make their next deadly move.

‘Fargo’ Season 3 Episode 3 Recap: The Law of Non-Contradiction

Fargo Season 3 Episode 3
Carrie Coon and Ray Wise in ‘Fargo’ season 3 episode 3 (Photo by Chris Large/FX)

When FX’s Fargo season three episode three begins it’s with the introduction of Thaddeus Mobley (Thomas Mann) as a young adult. It’s 1975 and after an awards ceremony, Thaddeus orders a cream soda as he’s not a drinker. Howard Zimmerman (Fred Melamed) introduces himself and it turns out he’s a movie producer. He asks Thaddeus if he’s thought about turning his book into a film, and Thaddeus seems taken with the idea. As they leave, their photo (the one in the newspaper article Gloria will find years later) is snapped by a photographer.

Howard and Thaddeus check out Vivian Lord’s screen test and then Howard introduces Vivian (Francesca Eastwood) to Thaddeus, calling him a genius. Thaddeus says his screenplay’s coming along and Howard assures him he’ll pay for his expenses to remain in Hollywood, if he remembers to keep the receipts. While they’re talking, Howard takes a call from Warren Beatty who apparently can’t do the film because of his other commitments. If they want Warren, they’ll have to bribe another studio to get him out of his contract. Thaddeus offers to pay the bribe out of his book advance, and then we see as the days go by he keeps writing the producer increasingly larger checks. Thaddeus also pays for Vivian’s drugs. One thing leads to another, and now Thaddeus is also a druggie.

An animated sequence shows a spaceship crashing and the astronaut barely alive, struggling to speak to his android assistant. The astronaut dies and the android MNSKY (a prototype) obeys his last wish to get word back that it wasn’t all for nothing.

The scene shifts and we learn the animation was portraying what Gloria (Carrie Coon) was reading on a plane trip to Los Angeles. The man next to her (Ray Wise) asks if the book is any good, and she gives him a brief synopsis. They chitchat about traveling and after landing, Gloria wheels her luggage to a rental car lot. A tagline appears telling us these events took place in LA in 2010.

Gloria makes it to the Hollywood Premiere Motel pictured in the photo and as she’s checking in, a Santa who’s attending a convention runs off with her luggage. He speeds away before Gloria can catch him. She reports the theft and, fortunately, she caught the license plate. The officer admits it’s unlikely she’ll get it back and Gloria takes the news well. She then asks the officer to do something for her, explaining she’s a police chief in Eden Valley, Minnesota in town looking up info on a victim of a homicide. The officer says if the license plate checks out, he’ll come find her.

Once in her room, Gloria discovers a pair of men’s shoes and a wooden box. When she flips the switch on top, a mechanical hand reaches out and flips it back. After playing with the box, Gloria checks in on Nathan (Graham Verchere), asking how he’s doing with his dad. She reminds him to eat his vegetables and they talk about why she’s in Hollywood in the first place. After their brief chat, Nathan passes the phone to Officer Donny Mashman (Mark Forward) who reports the new chief is upset she flew to LA and won’t pay for the trip. Gloria didn’t ask to be reimbursed, so she’s okay with that. She tells Donny she found the motel from the photo and has a lead on actress Vivian Lord, the woman in the signed headshot she found along with the books in Ennis’ place after he was murdered.

Gloria eats at a diner and then asks to see Vivian who’s working there as a waitress. After introducing herself, she asks if she remembers Thaddeus and shows her the signed photo from all those years ago. Vivian laughs, saying she doesn’t remember the ‘70s, and those signed photos are pretty common. Vivian says back then she was rarely sober and Gloria tells her where she’s staying, in case she changes her mind about talking.

When Gloria enters her room, she finds her stolen bag on the bed with a note from Officer Hunt offering to buy her a beer. They meet at a bar and Gloria sticks to “diet pop.” He’s incredulous she’s not on Facebook, tells her it’s like a small town, and it turns out he’s a horrible conversationalist. He admits he couldn’t find anything on Thaddeus and when he goes to the restroom, just coincidentally the man from the plane is seated a few feet away from her. He introduces himself as Paul Marrane and after finding out Gloria is almost divorced, he tells the story of a soldier going off to war who gives his wife a bill of divorce before he leaves. Officer Hunt returns and tries to shoo Paul away but after finding out Gloria has no plans to sleep with him, Officer Hunt gives up and leaves.

The evening doesn’t get any better for Gloria. She returns to her room and there’s a note on the door saying Chief Moe Dammik wants her to get back home immediately. She clicks the lever on the weird box once and then gets in bed.

And back to the animation we go with the android MNSKY walking through a timeline of human history, beginning with the dinosaurs. All alone he traveled for centuries, recharging his battery each century. During those down hours, he was attacked, with men ripping out one of his metal arms.

Gloria pays a visit to the Writers Guild of America, asking for information on Thaddeus. The WGA doesn’t represent authors, but the receptionist says she’ll check to see if they have anything on him anyway. The receptionist returns with his screenplay to Planet Why produced by Howard Zimmerman.

And now we catch up with the elderly Howard Zimmerman who’s living in a convalescent hospital. He thinks Gloria’s there for a donation, but she quickly clears that up and tells him she’s a police officer. He claims not to have heard of Thaddeus Mobley, and Gloria explains she’s just trying to connect the dots following his murder. Howard seems to remember Thaddeus, calling him a failure. He talks about science and particles colliding, and then floating off into space like we don’t even exist. Howard doesn’t believe there’s anything to random people meeting and going in and out of each other’s lives, and he kicks her out of his room without giving her any more information on Thaddeus.

Gloria stops a nurse and asks if anyone visits Howard. No one does and the nurse says he’s been there for a long time since a horrible accident almost killed him.

Another animated segment shows the one-armed MNSKY watching civilizations rise and fail. He can’t send word back home as no one’s left to respond. Finally, a spaceship arrives and the visitors begin shooting everyone in sight. MNSKY is beamed aboard the ship.

Gloria wakes from dreaming about MNSKY as someone slips a note under her door telling her to call Vivian Lord.

Fargo Season 3 Episode 3

A flashback shows Thaddeus knocking on Vivian’s door asking if she has any cocaine. He’s run out of drugs and money and he’s about to get booted from his motel room. When he barges into Vivian’s room, Howard’s already there. Thaddeus demands his money and Howard says it’s all gone. Howard and Vivian were in on it and Thaddeus can’t believe he’s been duped. Vivian calls Thaddeus a piggybank and Howard says they did him a favor by playing him. Next time he won’t be fooled, thanks to he and Vivian’s con job. Howard grabs Thaddeus around the neck, choking him, and then finally lets him free when he gives up. However, Thaddeus is not about to let Howard get away with taking all his money. Thaddeus grabs Howard’s cane and begins ruthlessly beating him with it. Vivian tries to get him to stop and Thaddeus slams her into a wall. He raises the cane to strike her but then tosses it down, saying, “You’re a bad person!”

Vivian the waitress reveals this story while seated in a booth at the diner with Gloria. The beating was the accident the nurse referred to and Howard was grievously injured. Vivian doesn’t believe Ennis’ death had anything to do with those events from decades ago and neither does Gloria. As Gloria rises to leave, Vivian says, “He was right. I am a bad person. He wasn’t so good either.”

Investigation in Hollywood complete, Gloria spends some quiet time on the beach watching the ocean.

Another flashback shows Thaddeus racing back to his motel room (the same one where Gloria is currently staying) after beating Howard. He throws his possessions in a suitcase, looks at the blood on his hands, and throws up in the toilet.

Flashforward and Gloria packs her belongings, dropping something and needing to get down on her knees near the toilet. She peers inside and sees “Dennis Stussey & Sons” stamped on the rim, but the D in Dennis is nearly wiped out. We see Thaddeus looking at the same stamp after vomiting all those years ago.

Gloria flies home to Minnesota.

A new animated segment shows aliens from the United Federation of Planets giving unit MNSKY an honor for his service. Apparently, he’s the oldest sentient being in history, with the UFP judging his age to be about 2.38 million. He has seen everything including the birth and death of planets, but the UFP believes MNSKY’s service is complete and it’s time to shut himself down. Flipping open the top of his head, MNSKY flips a switch just like the one on the box in Gloria’s hotel room. (It even has the same red and green lights.)

Gloria and Nathan sit with Ennis’ casket and as they leave the funeral home, Donny’s outside with the news they got a match on the fingerprints from Ennis’ place. They came back to Maurice LeFay, and the gas station guy identified him from his photo as the man who ripped the page out of the phone book. Donny then reveals Maurice was just killed in a freak air conditioner accident. Gloria decides they should go grab something to eat before doing any further investigating. As Gloria drives off in her police car, the box with the lever from the motel room is clearly visible in the rear window.

The episode ends without a single mention of the Stussy brothers, V.M. Varga, or parolee Nikki Swango.

David Von Ancken (Tut, Salem) is directing episodes of season one as are Leslie Hope (Aftermath), Michael Nankin (Van Helsing), Mathias Herdndl (Motive), Jason Priestley (Private Eyes), and Simon Barry (Continuum). Nomadic Pictures is producing the paranormal action series and Barry, Von Ancken, Dennis Heaton, Chad Oakes, and Mike Frislev are executive producing.

Ghost Wars is not just a contemporary homage to classic psychological horror, it’s also an opportunity to tell stories about human politics and how we shape our beliefs and lives based on our individual perspectives and biases,” says Barry. “Science, Humanism, Religion and the Paranormal all get a seat at the table. I’m grateful that Chad Oakes and Mike Frislev have assembled such a wealth of talent, both in front of and behind the camera, to hopefully elevate this genre series beyond expectations.”

“We are very fortunate to be working again with Chris Regina and his creative Syfy team on Ghost Wars,” said Chad Oakes, Co-Chairman of Nomadic Pictures. “Adding Simon Barry’s writing and leadership skills with the directing talent of our dear friend David Von Ancken…with our amazing cast…we could not be happier.”

“Our creative team have penned a paranormal chiller thriller set in Port Moore, Alaska. D’Onofrio, Coates, Jogia… stay tuned for an eerie nail biter. Nomadic is ecstatic to partner with Netflix on Ghost Wars,” added Mike Frislev Co-Chairman Nomadic Pictures.

The Plot: The series is set in a remote Alaskan town that has been overrun by paranormal forces. Local outcast Roman Mercer (Jogia) must overcome the town’s prejudices and his own personal demons if he’s to harness his repressed psychic powers and save everyone from the mass haunting that’s threatening to destroy them all.

‘The Flash’ Season 3 Episode 20 Recap and Review: I Know Who You Are

“I know who you are,” says Barry (Grant Gustin) when he’s face-to-face with Savitar as season three episode 20 of The CW’s The Flash begins. We then jump back to 16 hours earlier to show Joe (Jesse L. Martin) and his girlfriend Cecile (Danielle Nicolet) arriving home after a training run for the upcoming marathon which Joe is thinking about sitting out. After a little fun banter, Cecile lets slip that she loves him. That surprises Joe and he doesn’t say it back. Luckily for him, he’s summoned to S.T.A.R. Labs and excuses himself from the awkward conversation.

Barry brings Team Flash up to speed about what Barry from 2024 told him and they’re all in agreement they should find this physicist named Tracy Brand (Anne Dudek). Upset, Julian (Tom Felton) asks why they aren’t searching for Caitlin. Cisco (Carlos Valdes) reminds him that Joe and Barry have been searching the city for her, he’s been vibing trying to get a lock on her, and they’re using the satellites and sensors to try to find her. The two begin arguing and it quickly gets heated, so Barry is forced to break it up. They get a hit on where to find Tracy and Barry, Cisco, and H.R. (Tom Cavanagh) head to Central City University to talk to her.

Once they find her, Barry has to literally put out a fire she created in her lab destroying some of her work because she has been denied any future funding. The gang’s surprised to find this younger and not-yet-published scientist is quirky and unsure of herself. H.R. and Barry try to talk her into continuing her work when Killer Frost (Danielle Panabaker) shows up in a new black outfit (it’s a big improvement over her Earth-2 doppelganger costume) to kill Tracy. Barry moves Tracy out of Frost’s line of fire just in time and tells H.R. to get her out. Frost hits Barry with a cold blast but just to knock him out. Cisco slowly steps forward saying how she’s full-on Killer Frost now, with a new outfit and everything. Frost replies, “No more pencil skirts for me.” Cisco tells her he doesn’t want to hurt her but she replies, “You won’t.” (Sounds familiar.) Cisco freezes and Caitlin blasts him with a cold blast but, again, not a deadly one. Barry is able to get up and uses a make-do flame thrower to cause Frost to flee.

At the CCPD, a sketch artist finishes drawing Killer Frost. Joe takes the drawing and conveniently misplaces it while Cisco and Julian erase the university’s video footage of the attack, protecting Frost from being identified by the authorities.

Killer Frost reports to Savitar, telling him Tracy got away. She explains Barry and Cisco were already there and Savitar’s displeased. He’s disappointed that despite the fact she calls herself Killer Frost, she hasn’t killed anyone yet. He asks if there is more Caitlin Snow in her than she told him and she responds by asking if he thinks she let them get away on purpose. “Did you?” he asks and she looks away, not answering him. Savitar approaches Frost, who seems a little afraid, and tells her they can both be gods free of human feeling and despair…but she has to kill the girl.

H.R. catches up to Tracy at Jitters, trying to keep tabs on her. He buys her a specialty drink called “Zoom” and chats about how impressed he is with her scientific theories, which he’s able to recite thanks to Cisco feeding him info via his earpiece. Julian, who’s with Cisco, brings up how he saw the video footage they erased and how it looked like Cisco didn’t try to fight Killer Frost. Cisco becomes agitated and tells Julian to focus on the job at hand.

H.R. notices that his coffee is frozen and tells Tracy they need to leave now. He takes her outside, yelling they need help when a deadly icicle almost hits Tracy in the head. Fortunately, The Flash pulls her out of the way in the nick of time. Killer Frost walks up and Barry tells H.R. to get Tracy to safety while Julian tells Caitlin to stop. She just smiles, eerily. “So what, you’re Savitar’s stooge now?” asks Barry. “Better to reign in Hell and all that,” replies Frost. She then creates a frozen ice wave and surfs around Central City trying to grab H.R. and Tracy. The Flash chases her and maneuvers her back to Jitters where a waiting Cisco is supposed to knock her out with his powerful vibe so they can take her back to S.T.A.R. Labs. But Cisco once again freezes, seeing Caitlin’s lovely, friendly, smiling face from memory as Frost approaches. She uses the opportunity to send a cold blast at Cisco which The Flash intercepts, pushing Cisco out of the way. Barry gets hit instead and falls down a flight of stairs.

Frost finishes up her ice surfing and strides down the stairs with a large icicle in her hand. “Savitar told me I can’t kill you but I can’t have you following me all around. It was the left leg last time, right?” she asks a winded The Flash. Frost stabs him in the same leg with the icicle saying that scar tissue is more sensitive than regular tissue. “This isn’t you,” yells Barry in pain. “It is now,” replies Frost as she leaves the wounded speedster.

Back at S.T.A.R. Labs, Team Flash bring Tracy up to speed about her future and everything she’ll accomplish. They warn her that if she doesn’t invent the device to trap Savitar now, someone they love will die. Feeling overwhelmed, Tracy walks out and H.R. says he’ll go talk to her. A little later Julian visits Cisco in his workshop and asks why he didn’t stop Caitlin when he had the chance. Cisco tries to walk away but Julian won’t let him and finally, Cisco admits he’s afraid of killing Caitlin with his powers. He’s not sure he can control it and if she’s attacking someone like Joe or Barry or Julian, he might have to kill her to stop her. “She’s my best friend. I’d rather die myself,” says Cisco as he walks away.

In another part of S.T.A.R. Labs, Barry encourages Joe to tell Cecile the truth about Team Flash if he loves her. That’s exactly what Joe would tell Barry to do if the situation was reversed. Their heart-to-heart is interrupted by H.R. who informs them Tracy is gone. They open her future hologram to search for her and H.R. realizes where she is. He finds her at Central City Park in front of a statue of Galileo. He gives her a much-needed pep talk about believing in herself and that he knows she’s a genius and she just needs to find her confidence.

Back at Joe’s house, Cecile shows up and wants to know what’s really bothering him. She’s concerned it’s what she said earlier that day and he tells her that his life is very complicated and he thinks it’s best if they stop seeing each other. Upset, she tells him she’ll see him around the office and leaves. There’s a knock on the door and Joe opens it to find Killer Frost holding Cecile with a sharp icicle to her throat. Frost says she’ll text him in an hour with instructions on where to bring Tracy. If he doesn’t, Cecile dies. Killer Frost then hits Joe with a cold blast when he goes for his gun.

Barry tells Team Flash he has a plan to get Cecile back – and maybe even Caitlin. Just before they leave, Julian reminds Cisco his powers come from a good place, from love, and that he’ll stay in control when he battles Caitlin and he won’t kill her.

Barry, Joe, and Tracy follow Frost’s instructions and show up at an old factory where Cecile is being held. She’s tied up to a chair but unharmed. Frost appears telling Cecile that killing her is nothing but killing Tracy is everything. Barry tries to talk to Caitlin, attempting to convince her they’re family, but Frost finishes every word of his speech as though she knows exactly what he’s going to say. Barry asks how she’s doing that and she tells him Savitar told her everything he would say. “You two are more alike than you know,” says Frost with a bright smile. “It’s all history to him,” she continues. Frost then reveals she knows Cisco is hiding up in the rafters where she’s placed an explosive. She uses a remote device and Cisco comes crashing down to the ground, unconscious but alive.

Frost tries to kill Tracy but Barry takes the blast of cold. She renders him briefly out of commission by freezing him, pinning him to the floor. Joe pulls his gun but hesitates to shoot because it’s still Caitlin in there somewhere, so Frost freezes his gun. Finally snapping into action, Cisco hits Frost with a vibe power blast. She gets up to take him on and Joe uses this distraction to rescue Cecile. Frost shoots a continuous blast of cold at Cisco while he fires back with his vibe powers. At first, Frost is winning, pushing back Cisco but then Cisco focuses and uses his powers without holding back and it’s more than Frost can handle. The vibe hits her and throws her back into a wall, knocking her out. Barry is finally able to vibrate out of the ice while Cisco takes a blood sample from Frost, apologizing to Caitlin for hurting her but saying he had to to save her. Just as they’re about to take her to S.T.A.R. Labs, Savitar shows up telling Barry, “My ascension is nearly at hand.” He grabs Killer Frost and speeds off.

At S.T.A.R. Labs, Cisco wants to know how Caitlin knew he was in the rafters and how she was finishing Barry’s sentences. “Can she read minds now?” he asks, but Barry tells him she said Savitar told her. Julian tells the gang the blood sample Cisco took of Caitlin in full Killer Frost mode could lead to him finding a cure. Iris (Candice Patton) asks why Savitar saved Killer Frost instead of going after Tracy, and Barry says he must need her for something and they need to figure out what that is. Tracy tells H.R. she believes Savitar’s suit neutralizes the charge around him and she thinks they can build a device to harness its power and use it against him, trapping him in the speed force.

At the CCPD, Joe checks on Cecile to see how she’s doing and finally tells her he loves her. He made a mistake thinking by breaking up with her he was protecting her. Joe then sits down and reveals everything about Team Flash.

Back at the West home, Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale) is telling Barry and Iris about visiting Jesse on Earth-3 when Joe comes in and says he told Cecile about them. As Joe credits Barry with giving him the advice to tell her if he loves her and if they don’t have love who would they become? Barry starts to go over everything that’s happened and been said including Killer Frost saying that Barry and Savitar are more alike than he knows. Barry excuses himself from the Wests and races out. Next, we see The Flash in the middle of the dark street where he was when the episode began.

“I’m here,” yells the Scarlett Speedster twice and Savitar shows up, facing him. “I know who you are,” says Barry. “It’s about time,” replies Savitar. “Yes, it is. Everything with you is about time. The past, the present, the future…you know all of it right and you know everything about me, about Joe, Wally, and Iris. You know our strengths. You know our fears. You know how much we love each other and you know how to use that love against us. All this time we thought we couldn’t stop you because you were one step ahead but that’s not it. You were there. You lived it. You remembered it…when you were me,” says Barry, finally realizing he’s been fighting a future evil version of himself this whole time. Savitar bends down and his armor opens to reveal a future Barry Allen with a badly scarred face and discolored eye. “Like I told you in the beginning, I am the future Flash,” says the Evil Barry Allen.

The Flash Season 3 Episode 20 Review:

Action-packed and surprising, episode 20 titled “I Know Who You Are” finally reveals the identity of the “God of Speed” Savitar and pits Killer Frost against Team Flash. It’s an extremely fast-paced and exciting episode with the best superpower battles in the series to date.

The two stand-out performances go to Carlos Valdes as Cisco and Danielle Panabaker as she brings to life Killer Frost. Valdes perfectly captures the heartbreak and pain he feels having to go up against his best friend and possibly hurt or even accidentally kill her in battle while trying to protect Barry and the others from her wrath. The scene where Cisco is about to blast Killer Frost off her ice wave and he flashes on Caitlin’s lovely face smiling at him is truly heart-wrenching.

Panabaker brings this much darker and more vicious version of Killer Frost to life as she tries to kill Tracy on the orders of her new partner, the evil Savitar. The eerie smiles and her crystal blue eyes that gleam every time she taunts or wins a round with Team Flash are extremely effective in helping to show her character’s malice. Panabaker also subtly shows how Catlin is still alive in Frost under all the cold in the scene where Savitar tells her she has to kill the girl and Frost looks uneasy and unsure of herself.

The action scenes, battles, and special effects are excellent throughout the episode, especially the chase through Central City when Killer Frost is surfing on her ice wave. This particular scene features some groundbreaking visual effects we haven’t seen on television before.

With Savitar’s identity revealed to Barry, the real question is how can he and Team Flash stop an evil, all-knowing version of himself from killing Iris? And, how can Team Flash save Caitlin from her evil alter ego, Killer Frost.
