‘American Crime’ Season 3 Plot and Character Details Announced

American Crime stars Felicity Huffman and Regina King

ABC has released details on the upcoming third season of the critically acclaimed award-winning series, American Crime. American Crime was created by Oscar winner John Ridley (12 Years a Slave) who serves as an executive producer along with Michael J. McDonald. The season three cast includes Felicity Huffman, Regina King, Timothy Hutton, Lili Taylor, Connor Jessup, Richard Cabral, and Benito Martinez. Among the new season’s recurring guest stars are Cherry Jones, Janel Moloney, Dallas Roberts, Ana Mulvoy-Ten, Clayton Cardenas, Sandra Oh, and Mickaëlle X. Bizet.

The American Crime Season 3 Plot: When a father, Luis Salazar (Benito Martinez), travels illegally from Mexico into the United States to search for his missing son, he discovers that modern servitude is thriving in the farmlands and agricultural communities. Promised a job and a place to live, these laborers find themselves forced to live in abject poverty. Required to pay for their own food and other essentials, what little money they make is paid back to their employers, and because they will forever be in debt, they can never leave.

Undocumented workers aren’t the only people targeted by this system. Coy Henson (Connor Jessup) is a young, white American male, estranged from his family and hopelessly addicted to drugs. When he happens upon farm crew chief Isaac Castillo (Richard Cabral), he takes the opportunity to get his life back on track. But as he desperately tries to free himself of his addiction, he begins to become suspicious of Isaac’s promises and aware of the injustices taking place on the farm.

Hesby Farms is a struggling tomato farm, forced to cut back on labor costs in order to be competitive in a market that continuously demands lower prices. Jeanette Hesby (Felicity Huffman), who married into the family that owns the farm, begins to learn the shocking truth behind their wealth. Her turmoil will eventually force her to make a moral decision which could put her at odds with the family.

Kimara Walters (Regina King) is a dedicated social worker who truly wants to help those in need.  Unattached, single and in her forties, she desperately wants to have a baby and is finding it hard to get pregnant, even with the help of modern medicine. When Kimara meets Shae (Ana Mulvoy-Ten), a 17-year-old prostitute, she wants to help her get out of the business, turn her life around and take a stand against her pimp.

Nicholas Coates (Timothy Hutton) owns a furniture supply business and is feeling the sting of buyers wanting quality items at discounted prices. At home, he finds himself in a marriage where memories of the past seem much more pleasant than the present. His wife, Clair (Lili Taylor), decides that she wants to hire and provide a working visa for a Haitian woman, Gabrielle (Mickaëlle X. Bizet), to be their son’s nanny. But darkness seems to embroil this family, and Gabrielle soon discovers that her employment comes with a steep price.

‘The Man in the High Castle’ Renewed for Season 3

Amazon has confirmed the dramatic series The Man in the High Castle will return for a third season. The series’ second season was released on December 16, 2016 and, according to Amazon, season two’s first weekend in release drew in more viewers than any other Amazon scripted original series in 2016. Amazon also announced four-time Writers Guild nominee Eric Overmyer will be the new showrunner for season three of The Man in the High Castle.

The Man in the High Castle is based on Philip K. Dick’s award-winning novel and was developed for television by The X-Files‘ Frank Spotnitz. Overmyer, Ridley Scott, David W. Zucker, Richard Heus, Isa Dick Hackett, and Daniel Percival are on board as season three executive producers. The series stars Alexa Davalos, Rupert Evans, Luke Kleintank, DJ Qualls, Joel De La Fuente, Brennan Brown, Bella Heathcote, Callum Keith Rennie, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, and Rufus Sewell.

“As timely as ever, the exploration of characters at a dark point for humanity has provided incredible stories for two seasons,” stated Joe Lewis, Head of Comedy and Drama, Amazon Studios. “Eric and his team are doing an incredible job crafting stories about the inner lives of those who struggle to do good in a world that is not. We couldn’t be more excited to bring season three to customers in 2017.”

The Season Two Plot: Season two of the one-hour drama series The Man in the High Castle continues to explore what would have happened if the Allied Powers had lost World War II. While Germany controls much of the East Coast and Japan controls the West Coast, the Rocky Mountains have become a “neutral zone”–and ground zero for a resistance, led by a mysterious figure known only as “the Man in the High Castle.” While some citizens struggle against the fear, oppression and inequality, others accept their lives, as compromised and unfulfilling as they might be. But after a series of enigmatic films surface depicting a world vastly different from their own, some begin to question the very nature of their reality.

HBO has moved up the premiere date of Bright Lights: Starring Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher from a March 2017 date to January 7, 2017 at 8pm ET/PT. The documentary showcases the loving relationship between one of Hollywood’s most beloved classic actresses, Debbie Reynolds, and her equally beloved actress/writer/producer daughter, Carrie Fisher. The premiere date was moved from March to January following the December 27, 2016 death of Carrie Fisher followed one day later by the death of her mother, Debbie Reynolds.

Carrie Fisher experienced a medical emergency on a plane ride from London to Los Angeles on December 23, 2016. She had just completed a book tour in London for The Princess Diarist and on the flight returning home, Fisher stopped breathing. CPR was administered and she was taken to UCLA Medical Hospital where she passed away four days later at the age of 60. It’s reported her daughter, Billie Lourd, and emotional support dog, Gary, were by her side.

Debbie Reynolds followed her daughter in death just one day later. Reynolds was in the process of helping to plan her daughter’s funeral when her son, Todd, reported she suffered a stroke. Reynolds was taken to Cedars-Sinai hospital and passed away at the age of 84. Todd Fisher said his mother talked about wanting to be with Carrie.

Bright Lights: Starring Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds was directed by Alexis Bloom and Fisher Stevens. The documentary screened at the New York Film Festival, the Telluride Film Festival, and the 2016 Cannes Film Festival.

Details on Bright Lights: The story of a family’s complicated love, this documentary is an intimate portrait of Hollywood royalty in all its eccentricity. Carrie Fisher and her mother, Debbie Reynolds, live in the same Beverly Hills compound. The 83-year-old grand dame still has a Las Vegas act, but performing is taking its toll. Carrie’s response is both hilarious and heart-rending. Bright Lights features vintage family films that bring iconic old-world Hollywood to life, as well as extensive vérité footage.

Crashing local punk queen Boadicea’s party, Enn discovers every boy’s dream – gorgeous foreign exchange students. When he meets the enigmatic Zan (Fanning), it’s love at first sight.

But these teens are, in fact, aliens from outer space, sent to Earth to prepare for a mysterious rite of passage.
