MTV is actually returning to being about music with the premiere of Wonderland, a new live music series premiering on September 15, 2016 at 11pm ET/8pm PT. Season one will consist of 10 one-hour episodes that will feature exclusive performances by artists including Tinashe, Ty Dolla $ign, and Broods. Steak, Mike Wright and Lizzo are hosting the series which marks MTV’s first live music series in 20 years.

The weekly series will be shot at the Imperial Arts Studios in Downtown Los Angeles. In addition to the live performances, Wonderland will feature behind the scenes rehearsal footage on MTV Snapchat, Twitter and Instagram.

Details on the Wonderland Artists, Courtesy of MTV:

Tinashe – A singer, songwriter, producer and renowned entertainer, Tinashe is known for her eclectic mix of pop, R&B, electronics and forward-thinking productions. She is currently gearing up for the release of her highly anticipated sophomore album Joyride, set for release this fall on RCA Records. The album includes lead single “Superlove,” which was released earlier this summer to much acclaim, with USA Today calling it a strong contender for “song of the summer.”

Joyride is the follow up to Tinashe’s debut studio album, Aquarius, which received a rare wave of unanimous acclaim upon its release in 2014. The Los Angeles Times heralded the album as “one of the more inventive R&B debuts in years,” while the Associated Press said that “Tinashe delivered an album that moved the needle…her whispery vocals glide over the songs’ beats so nicely you’ll constantly hit repeat.” The album, which made nearly every Best of 2014 year-end list, was anchored by the Platinum-selling single “2 On (Featuring ScHoolboy Q),” 2014’s de-facto R&B Song Of The Summer. A hit in the Billboard charts, “2 On” spent five back-to-back weeks at #1 on the Rhythmic Airplay chart. Aquarius also featured the fan-favorite single “All Hands On Deck,” which set the internet ablaze with it’s instantly classic music video—a clip so engaging even Kanye West gave his rare stamp of approval.

Ty Dolla $ign – Born Tyrone Griffin Jr., Ty Dolla $ign has been an in-demand writer, producer, and featured artist since helming YG’s 2010 smash, “Toot It and Boot It (feat. Ty Dolla $ign).” Since then, the GRAMMY® Award-nominated singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist, has fast become one of hip-hop’s most highly demanded collaborators, contributing his acclaimed production and writing skills to Chris Brown’s #1 hit, “Loyal,” Kanye West’s “Real Friends” and “Faded,” Fifth Harmony’s “Work From Home,” Nick Jonas’ “Bacon,” Rihanna’s “FourFiveSeconds (with Kanye West & Paul McCartney)” and Wiz Khalifa & Snoop Dogg, whose “Young, Wild & Free (feat. Bruno Mars)” proved a GRAMMY® Award-nominated blockbuster.

Ty is preparing to release Campaign, his first full-length release since last year’s breakthrough debut album, Free TC. Praised by The New York Times as “easily one of the best R&B albums of the year,” “FREE TC” established Ty as a major superstar, fueled by a series of hit singles including the RIAA platinum certified “Blasé (Feat. Future & Rae Sremmurd)” and the gold certified “Saved (Feat. E-40).” Free TC ultimately was featured on a wide span of year-end lists including Rolling Stone’s “20 Best R&B Albums of 2015” and NPR Music’s “50 Favorite Albums of 2015.” Ty Dolla $ign made a major splash in 2015 with the RIAA platinum certification of his hit singles, “Paranoid (Feat. B.o.B)” and “Or Nah (Feat. Wiz Khalifa & The Weeknd),” both included on the critically-acclaimed “BEACH HOUSE EP.”

Broods – Since releasing their breakthrough debut album, Evergreen, in 2014, the brother-sister duo of Georgia and Caleb Nott — better known as Broods — spent the better part of two years on the road learning the ins and outs of what it means to be a band. A renewed sense of confidence is evident on Conscious — Broods’ highly anticipated sophomore album. Recorded at studios between Los Angeles and the band’s native homeland of New Zealand, the album is an audacious step forward for the band. Co-produced by long-term collaborator Joel Little (Lorde, Ellie Goulding, Jarryd James), Broods, Alex Hope (Troye Sivan), and Captain Cuts (Halsey, Tove Lo), the record is both bigger and bolder than anything the duo have done before. The album’s anthemic first single, “Free,” has amassed nearly 10 million streams globally on Spotify, and nearly 16 million streams worldwide across all platforms. The single has been certified Gold in Australia and New Zealand. NPR hailed “Heartlines,” which Broods co-wrote with fellow New Zealanders Lorde and Joel Little, as “a bubbly, revelatory dance track…soon to be a summer anthem. The album also includes “Freak of Nature,” a darkly personal ballad about embracing and overcoming your own personal demons, which features Tove Lo on vocals.

First Look: ‘Amanda Knox’ Trailer and Poster

Amanda Knox Poster

The documentary Amanda Knox is set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 9, 2016 and Netflix has just released the film’s poster and trailer. The documentary was directed by Rod Blackhurst (Here Alone) and Brian McGinn (Chef’s Table) and features interviews with Amanda Knox, her co-defendant/ex-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito, Italian prosecutor Giuliano Mignini, and Nick Pisa, reporter for Daily Mail. Amanda Knox will debut on Netflix on September 30th.

The Plot: Was she a cold-blooded psychopath who brutally murdered her roommate or a naive study abroad student trapped in an endless nightmare? In the Netflix Original Documentary Amanda Knox, directors Rod Blackhurst and Brian McGinn and producer Mette Heide (Peabody Award-winner India’s Daughter) explore the notorious case that made headlines around the world. Twice convicted and twice acquitted by Italian courts of the brutal killing of her British roommate Meredith Kercher, Amanda Knox became the subject of global speculation as non-stop media attention fed the public’s fascination through every twist and turn of the nearly decade-long case.

In a world that remains strongly divided on the legal findings, Amanda Knox goes beyond guilt or innocence to shed new light on the events and circumstances of the past nine years. Featuring unprecedented access to key people involved and never-before-seen archival material, the film shifts between past to present, exploring the case from the inside out. As a hunger for salacious and exciting news stories grows, what role do we all play in the perpetuation and the creation of ‘front page’ ready narratives? Amanda Knox is a human story that goes past the headlines to examine the often fraught relationship between true crime tragedy, justice and entertainment.

Collateral Beauty stars Will Smith and Helen Mirren

Am I the only one who thinks Collateral Beauty is a grown-up A Christmas Carol minus the holiday theme? That’s the impression left from the trailer which shows Will Smith as a father grieving the death of his daughter who’s visited by the personifications of Love, Time, and Death. Love is played by Keira Knightley, Jacob Latimore is Time, and Helen Mirren takes on the role of Death. The cast also includes Edward Norton, Michael Peña, Naomie Harris, and Kate Winslet. Allan Loeb (Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, 21) wrote the script and David Frankel (Marley and Me, The Devil Wears Prada) directed the drama set to open in theaters on December 16, 2016.

The Plot: When a successful New York advertising executive suffers a great tragedy he retreats from life. While his concerned friends try desperately to reconnect with him, he seeks answers from the universe by writing letters to Love, Time and Death. But it’s not until his notes bring unexpected personal responses that he begins to understand how these constants interlock in a life fully lived, and how even the deepest loss can reveal moments of meaning and beauty.

The season three finale of FX’s Tyrant will also be the show’s final episode. FX has opted not to renew the dramatic series for a third season, as just announced by John Landgraf, CEO of FX Networks and FX Productions. Tyrant‘s third season finale airs on September 7, 2016 at 10pm ET/PT and is titled “Two Graves.” Per the network, the episode finds Barry and Molly on the brink of waging war on the Caliphate. “Leila makes a bold political move and braves the possibility of a close betrayal. Barry and Daliyah face a final reckoning in their relationship. The conflict in Abuddin threatens to turn into a bloody civil war.”

Tyrant stars Adam Rayner, Jennifer Finnigan, Moran Atias, Ashraf Barhom, Noah Silver, Alexander Karim, Cameron Gharaee, Melia Kreiling and Chris Noth. The series was executive produced by Howard Gordon, Chris Keyser, Gideon Raff and Avi Nir.

“It’s very difficult to find common ground with other people whose stories we do not know or understand,” stated Landgraf. “The creators of Tyrant have done their utmost over three seasons to tell American audiences a tiny fraction of the many gripping, human stories coursing through the Middle East today. We want to thank Howard Gordon, Chris Keyser and their talented team of collaborators, including all the writers, directors, cast and crew, as well as our studio partners at Fox 21 Television Studios, for taking on Tyrant’s tremendously ambitious story with such profound dedication and respect.”

Tyrant is a beloved show to all of us at Fox 21 Television Studios, and we are indebted to Howard and Chris for their incredible work, and to John Landgraf and everyone at FX who have been fantastic partners,” said Fox 21 Television Studios President Bert Salke. “We feel the show is a gem and we’d love to find a way to keep it in production. That said, we want to be realistic about its prospects. So for its loyal audience, tonight’s episode will be a satisfying end should the series not find another home, but also provides interesting possibilities should we be able to continue on some other platform.”
