‘The Walking Dead’ Teases Fans with a Midseason Poster

The Walking Dead Season 5 Midseason Poster

Why is Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) staring at us on the new poster for AMC’s The Walking Dead season five? And why is Daryl (Norman Reedus) the only one hanging back while Carl and the rest of the zombie apocalypse survivors walk away? The group’s going to need to find a new place to call home if they decide to all stay together, but are they still looking to Rick for leadership? Season five continues on February 8, 2015 and hopefully we won’t have to wait long for all these questions to be answered.

The ‘Strange Magic’ Cast Talks About the Animated Movie

In this new Strange Magic behind-the-scenes video, Alan Cumming, Maya Rudolph, Elijah Kelley, Meredith Anne Bull, Sam Palladio, and Evan Rachel Wood discuss their animated characters in the upcoming Lucasfilm and Touchstone Pictures release. George Lucas came up with the story, David Berenbaum, Irene Mecchi, Gary Rydstrom wrote the script, and Gary Rydstrom (Toy Story Toons: Hawaiian Vacation) directs the animated family film featuring fairies and other mythical creatures.

Strange Magic opens in theaters on January 23, 2015.

The Plot:

Strange Magic, a new animated film from Lucasfilm Ltd., is a madcap fairy tale musical inspired by A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Popular songs from the past six decades help tell the tale of a colorful cast of goblins, elves, fairies and imps, and their hilarious misadventures sparked by the battle over a powerful potion. Lucasfilm Animation Singapore and Industrial Light & Magic bring to life the fanciful forest turned upside down with world-class animation and visual effects.

Cinemax’s 2015 schedule will include new episodes of Banshee, Strike Back and The Knick. All three original series will be back in the lineup this year, with Banshee kicking off its third season on January 9, 2015. Strike Back will air its final season this summer, and The Knick will be added back into the evening schedule later this fall.

In addition to confirming their returns, Cinemax offered details on the three shows for those who haven’t caught onto them yet or those who need a refresher.

Banshee Plot:

Antony Starr stars in the show as Lucas Hood, an ex-con and master thief who assumes the identity of the sheriff of Banshee, Pa., where he continues his criminal pursuits while enforcing his own code of justice. Other returning cast members include Ivana Milicevic as Carrie Hopewell, a notorious jewel thief who lives in Banshee under an assumed identity with her family, who has recently learned of her criminal past; Ulrich Thomsen as Kai Proctor, an intimidating, wealthy businessman who believes he is above the law; Frankie Faison as Sugar Bates, a powerful and wise former boxer and ex-con who is now the owner of the local watering hole; and Hoon Lee as Job, a dangerous transvestite computer hacker who assists Lucas and Carrie in their criminal enterprises.

Strike Back Details:

In the new episodes, Damien Scott (Sullivan Stapleton) and Michael Stonebridge (Philip Winchester), along with the rest of Section 20, are enlisted to crack a missing-persons case in Bangkok. This elite undercover unit of British intelligence quickly realizes that what seems on the surface to be a simple kidnapping is actually the first step in a massive terrorist plot with global implications.

Scott, Stonebridge and the team crisscross Asia and Europe, battling Japanese Yakuza, Russian Mafia, cyberterrorists, elite mercenaries and other deadly forces. Series regulars Robson Green, Michelle Lukes and Milauna Jackson also return for the season; new cast members include Michelle Yeoh, Will Yun Lee, Dustin Clare, Max Beesley and Michael McElhatton.

The Knick Plot:

Helmed by Steven Soderbergh and starring Golden Globe nominee Clive Owen as the brilliant and emotionally tortured surgeon Dr. John W. Thackery, the show is set in New York City in 1900 and centers on Knickerbocker Hospital and its groundbreaking surgeons, nurses and staff, who push the bounds of medicine in a time of astonishingly high mortality rates and zero antibiotics.

‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ Gets an R Rating for Unusual Behavior

Fifty Shades of Grey Gets an R Rating
Jamie Dornan stars in ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ (Photo © 2014 Universal Studios)

“Unusual behavior” is part of the reason why the MPAA has given Fifty Shades of Grey, the first in a series of films based on E. L. James’ bestselling erotic novels, an R rating. While the studio may have been hoping for a more audience-friendly PG 13 and fans of the book initially believed the film would earn an NC-17 if it stuck close to the source material, the MPAA has weighed in with the official theatrical release rating.

Per the MPAA, Fifty Shades of Grey is rated R for “strong sexual content including dialogue, some unusual behavior and graphic nudity, and for language.”

Of course, if you’ve read the books or heard anything about the Fifty Shades franchise, you know that “unusual behavior” has to do with the sexual preferences of the lead male character, Christian Grey, played by Jamie Dornan. Christian’s into S&M, but while the screenwriter Kelly Marcel originally expressed a desire for the adaptation to earn an NC-17 because of what takes place in the novel, it was likely a more box office-friendly PG-13 had been anticipated all along by the studio honchos.

We know from interviews that Dornan won’t be showing off a full frontal look at his private parts, but he did do a lot of research to prepare for the role, including visiting a dungeon. “I’m an extremely liberal person, I don’t give a f***. If people are into that they’re into that,” explained Dornan in an interview with GQ. “By the way, if people make such a hoo-hah about the violence against women aspect of it, it’s far more common for men to be the submissive. And it’s consensual! There’s weirder sh*t than that. I think plane spotting is far weirder than S&M. That I really don’t get. I can understand why people are into S&M, but standing outside Heathrow Terminal 5 waiting for Ryanair to come in?”

You’ll have to wait until February 13, 2015 to see what the fuss is all about. Until then, we can all just speculate on how boundary-pushing the film’s “unusual behavior” actually is.
