As expected, NBC has renewed the Chicago trio – Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago P.D. – for new seasons. The network also wants more of both Law & Order and Law & Order: SVU, with both shows solidifying their spots on NBC’s 2024-2025 primetime lineup.
The fate of Law & Order: Organized Crime starring Christopher Meloni as Det. Elliot Stabler is still up in the air.
According to NBC, Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and Chicago P.D. rank as the top three shows in total viewers. They also maintain spots on the 2023-2024 Top 10 primetime series list. Chicago Fire season 12 leads the Chicago pack, averaging 12.6 million viewers. Chicago P.D. season 11 follows with 12 million, and Chicago Med season nine is pulling in 10.5 million viewers.
Law & Order: SVU season 25 holds the number one spot among adults 18-49 on Thursday nights, averaging 11.2 million viewers. Law & Order, currently in its 23rd season, draws an average of 7.7 million viewers.
The just-announced renewals all come from Universal Studio Group’s Universal Television division and Dick Wolf’s Wolf Entertainment.

Scott Caan stars as Jason Grant and Dania Ramirez is Nikki Batista. Ryan Broussard plays Mike Sherman, Adeola Role is Kemi Adebayo, and Alisha-Marie Ahamed is Wayne Pascal.

Alert: Missing Persons Unit is a procedural drama set in the Philadelphia Police Department’s Missing Persons Unit (MPU). Each episode features a heart-pounding, life-or-death search for a missing person headed by detectives Jason Grant and Nikki Batista. Together with the MPU team, their job is to find the missing or abducted and reunite them with their loved ones. Jason and Nikki, once married, have a very personal connection to these cases as their own young son went missing and was never found. The emotional toll of their son’s disappearance blew up their marriage, but even though they’ve moved on, their bond remains.
Nikki now runs MPU, where she and the team do for others what she wasn’t able to do for herself: bring a loved one back home. At MPU, she leads a highly skilled team, including her fiancé Mike Sherman, whom Nikki met when he was assigned to oversee the search for her son; Kemi Adebayo, a spiritually savvy detective with an astonishing knowledge base; and forensic anthropologist C (recurring guest star and newcomer Petey Gibson), who is a master at reconstructing the faces of those who have disappeared.
As the second season begins, the MPU team step into their new office in headquarters, where Jason and Nikki meet their new boss Inspector Hollis Braun (guest star Gil Bellows), who wants to keep a close eye on the team, particularly the unpredictable Jason Grant. Jason brings his old friend in to help with the case: master hacker Wayne Pascal, who he worked with in Afghanistan. Jason conveniently never told Nikki that Wayne was a woman (and a hot one!), which raises issues even as Nikki and Mike plan their wedding. Together, the team works to find the missing or abducted and help reunite them with their loved ones before it’s too late.
Talk about effective trailers. The one-minute teaser for Alien: Romulus captures the terror of being trapped with a creature while not giving away any spoilers.
The teaser arrived along with a poster and new stills from the much-anticipated, long-awaited eighth entry in the Alien franchise. Alien: Romulus is set between 1979’s Alien and 1986’s Aliens, and in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter director Fede Álvarez (Evil Dead) confirmed how it fits into the Alien universe.
“I love all of those movies. I didn’t want to omit or ignore any of them when it comes to connections at a story level, character level, technology level and creature level. There’s always connections from Alien to Alien: Covenant,” said Álvarez says.
The sci-fi film stars Cailee Spaeny (Priscilla), David Jonsson (Agatha Christie’s Murder is Easy), Archie Renaux (Shadow and Bone), Isabela Merced (The Last of Us), Spike Fearn (Aftersun), and Aileen Wu. Alvarez co-wrote the screenplay with Rodo Sayagues, based on characters created by Dan O’Bannon and Ronald Shusett.
“The sci-fi/horror-thriller takes the phenomenally successful Alien franchise back to its roots: While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station, a group of young space colonizers come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe,” reads 20th Century Studios’ synopsis.
Alien veteran director Ridley Scott, Michael Pruss, and Walter Hill served as producers. Executive producers include Alvarez, Elizabeth Cantillon, Brent O’Connor, and Tom Moran.
20th Century Studios has set an August 16, 2024 theatrical release date.
Oscar nominees Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt are the Barbenheimer comedy duo we didn’t know we’ve been waiting for in The Fall Guy. Trailer number two shows off more of the chemistry between Gosling and Blunt while also delivering more action, more humor, and enough shirtless Gosling scenes to keep audiences satiated until the film’s theatrical release on May 3, 2024.
Joining Gosling and Blunt in the action comedy are Hannah Waddingham (Ted Lasso), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Bullet Train), Winston Duke (Black Panther franchise), and Academy Award nominee Stephanie Hsu (Everything Everywhere All at Once).
Drew Pearce (Hobbs & Shaw) wrote the screenplay, stuntman David Leitch directed, with Leitch, Gosling, Kelly McCormick, and Guymon Casady produced. Executive producers include Pearce, Geoff Shaevitz, and the creator of the original Fall Guy television series, Glen A. Larson.
The Fall Guy Plot, Courtesy of Universal Pictures:
He’s a stuntman, and like everyone in the stunt community, he gets blown up, shot, crashed, thrown through windows, and dropped from the highest of heights, all for our entertainment. And now, fresh off an almost career-ending accident, this working-class hero has to track down a missing movie star, solve a conspiracy and try to win back the love of his life while still doing his day job. What could possibly go right?
From real life stunt man and director David Leitch, the blockbuster director of Bullet Train, Deadpool 2, Atomic Blonde and Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw and the producer of John Wick, Nobody, and Violent Night, comes his most personal film yet. A new hilarious, hard-driving, all-star apex-action thriller and love letter to action movies and the hard-working and under-appreciated crew of people who make them: The Fall Guy.
Oscar nominee Ryan Gosling (Barbie, La La Land, Half Nelson) stars as Colt Seavers, a battle-scarred stuntman who, having left the business a year earlier to focus on both his physical and mental health, is drafted back into service when the star of a mega-budget studio movie — being directed by his ex, Jody Moreno, played by Golden Globe winner Emily Blunt (Oppenheimer, A Quiet Place films, Sicario) — goes missing.
While the film’s ruthless producer (Emmy winner Hannah Waddingham, Ted Lasso), maneuvers to keep the disappearance of star Tom Ryder (Golden Globe winner Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Bullet Train) a secret from the studio and the media, Colt performs the film’s most outrageous stunts while trying (with limited success) to charm his way back into Jody’s good graces. But as the mystery around the missing star deepens, Colt will find himself ensnared in a sinister, criminal plot that will push him to the edge of a fall more dangerous than any stunt.
