For the first minute of The Royal Hotel trailer everything seems fine. But then the tone suddenly shifts, and everything about the environment Julia Garner and Jessica Henwick’s characters find themselves in turns menacing.
Julia Garner (Ozark) stars as Hanna, Jessica Henwick (Glass Onion) is Liv, Toby Wallace (The Society) plays Matty, and Hugo Weaving (the Lord of the Rings films) is Billy. The cast also includes Ursula Yovich as Carol, Daniel Henshall as Dolly, James Frecheville as Teeth, and Herbert Nordrum as Torsten.
The Royal Hotel writer/director Kitty Green made her feature film directorial debut with 2019’s critically acclaimed The Assistant, which also starred Julia Garner. Oscar Redding co-wrote the screenplay, Michael Latham is the director of photography, Leah Popple is the production designer, Mariot Kerr is the costume designer, and Kasra Rassoulzadegan is the editor.
Neon offered this description of the thriller:
“Americans Hanna and Liv are best friends backpacking in Australia. After they run out of money, Liv, looking for an adventure, convinces Hanna to take a temporary live-in job behind the bar of a pub called ’The Royal Hotel’ in a remote Outback mining town.
Bar owner Billy and a host of locals give the girls a riotous introduction to Down Under drinking culture but soon Hanna and Liv find themselves trapped in an unnerving situation that grows rapidly out of their control.”

Discussing her sophomore feature film which is inspired by director Pete Gleeson’s documentary Hotel Coolgardie, writer/director Kitty Green explained she was taken in by the documentary’s examination of two Scandinavian women trapped in an Australian mining town. Green latched on to the idea of telling a story set in a remote Aussie pub through a female lens.
“There’s a part of me that understands that pub world and a part of me that is terrified by it,” stated Green whose grandfather owned a pub in regional Australia. “I feel that my background allowed me to be able to see both points of view. I’ve always wanted to make an Australian film. I had not made one in Australia since film school – I left Australia and started making films in Ukraine and in North America. I’d see Australians at film festivals, and people from Screen Australia and elsewhere would say ‘come and make a movie back home.’ But I didn’t ever have the opportunity until The Royal Hotel.”
Neon’s The Royal Hotel will screen at the Toronto International Film Festival and will open in theaters on October 6, 2023.
Awkwafina needs to come up with a way to earn some quick cash in the trailer for Quiz Lady, a new comedy from director Jessica Yu (In Treatment, This Is Us). Fortunately, she’s got skills that make her the perfect quiz show contestant and a pushy sister (Sandra Oh) who won’t let those skills go to waste.
The sibling road-trip comedy also stars Jason Schwartzman, Holland Taylor, Tony Hale, and Will Ferrell. Jen D’Angelo wrote the screenplay and Awkwafina, Sandra Oh, Will Ferrell, Jessica Elbaum, Maggie Haskins, Itay Reiss, and Jen D’Angelo produced, with Alex Brown and Erika Hampson executive producing.
20th Century Studios will premiere the comedy at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 9, 2023. It will stream on Hulu beginning November 3rd.

The Plot:
“In Quiz Lady, a brilliant but tightly wound, gameshow-obsessed young woman, Anne (Awkwafina), and her estranged, train-wreck of a sister Jenny (Oh), must work together to help cover their mother’s gambling debts. When Anne’s beloved dog is kidnapped, they set out on a wild, cross-country trek to get the cash the only way they know how: by turning Anne into a bona-fide gameshow champion.”
Oscar winner Jamie Foxx (Ray) stars as a lawyer with an incredible track record and Oscar winner Tommy Lee Jones (The Fugitive) plays his newest client in Prime Video’s The Burial. And a word of warning for those who dislike spoilers: While the trailer’s entertaining, you may want to steer clear of the nearly three-minute video as it gives away a lot of the plot.
Joining Tommy Lee Jones and Jamie Foxx in the R-rated drama are Jurnee Smollett (Lovecraft Country), Mamoudou Athie (Jurassic World Dominion), Pamela Reed (NCIS: Los Angeles), Bill Camp (American Rust), and Alan Ruck (Succession). Maggie Betts and Doug Wright co-wrote the screenplay, based on Jonathan Harr’s The New Yorker article, with Betts directing.
Jamie Foxx, Celine Rattray, Trudie Styler, Datari Turner, Jenette Kahn, Adam Richman, and Bobby Shriver served as producers.
The Burial will open in select theaters on October 6, 2023 followed by a worldwide release on Prime Video on October 13.
When a handshake deal goes sour, funeral homeowner Jeremiah O’Keefe (Jones) enlists charismatic, smooth-talking attorney Willie E. Gary (Foxx) to save his family business. Tempers flare and laughter ensues as the unlikely pair bond while exposing corporate corruption and racial injustice in this inspirational, triumphant story.

Goosebumps is inspired by R.L. Stine’s bestselling book series and stars Justin Long (Barbarian), Rachael Harris (Lucifer), Zack Morris (EastEnders), Isa Briones (Star Trek: Picard), Miles McKenna (Guilty Party), Ana Yi Puig (Gossip Girl), and Will Price (The Equalizer). Stine’s Goosebumps franchise is a pop culture phenomenon that holds a special place in the hearts of people of all ages,” stated Ayo Davis, president, Disney Branded Television. “We are delighted to bring this spooky new series to audiences everywhere in a big way on Disney+ and Hulu, which we hope will not only captivate new audiences with its elevated thrills and chills, but also lifelong fans nostalgic for the stories that are a staple of their generation.”
According to Disney+ and Hulu, the series “draws elements from” Stine’s Say Cheese and Die!, The Haunted Mask, The Cuckoo Clock of Doom, Go Eat Worms! and Night of the Living Dummy.

The Plot:

He gave into the temptations of women and technology, leading a secret life with the online alias “Amish Stud” to meet with women outside of his marriage bed. Eli found his pick of curious women fascinated by the Amish lifestyle, and often spoke to his mistresses about his desire to kill his wife. When Barbara is found dead from a shotgun wound, all eyes turn to Eli.
But with his rock-solid alibi, investigators had nowhere to turn, until they discover Eli had a secret cell phone. Their investigations led them to Barb Raber (Kirsten Vangsness), a married Conservative Mennonite who had been having an affair with Eli and who was plotting with him to murder his wife. Ultimately, it is up to the detectives investigating the crime to find justice for Barbara Weaver.

Even with all of Alex’s influence, he couldn’t prevent The Murdaugh Family’s legacy from being tarnished after Paul was involved in a boating accident that left a young girl dead. While Maggie was consumed with what was happening with Paul, Alex was hiding his addiction to opioids and stealing insurance settlements from his own clients to fund his habit and the family’s lavish lifestyle. Then in June 2021, Maggie and Paul were found murdered and eyes began to turn to Alex.
The bizarre story continued when Alex was nearly shot in the head and his indiscretions and lies began to surface, leading to the eventual unraveling of Alex Murdaugh’s once charmed life.

Halley Feiffer serves as writer, showrunner, and executive producer. Series creators Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, Alexis Martin Woodall, Scott Robertson, and John J. Gray also executive produce.

Emma Roberts poster for FX’s ‘American Horror Story: Delicate’ (season 12)
Unlike previous seasons, AHS: Delicate is inspired by a book – Danielle Valentine’s recently released novel Delicate Condition. FX offered this short description of the upcoming season:
“In American Horror Story: Delicate, after multiple failed attempts of IVF, actress Anna Victoria Alcott wants nothing more than to start a family. As the buzz around her recent film grows, she fears that something may be targeting her – and her pursuit of motherhood.”
20th Century Studios has released the official trailer for The Bikeriders hot on the heels of its enthusiastic reception at the 2023 Telluride Film Festival. The trailer focuses on the relationship between Tom Hardy’s Johnny, leader of a ’60s motorcycle club, and his friend/follower, Benny (Elvis‘ Austin Butler), whose wife, Kathy (played by Killing Eve‘s Jodie Comer) feels like she’s in competition for her husband’s attention.
The two-minute trailer features Butler giving off a James Dean vibe, Hardy wrapping his tongue around a Midwestern accent, and Comer providing narration and setting up the backstory. Plus, the video teases lots of fist fights, lots of motorcycle riding (and smoking), and the burning of a bar when the club’s insulted by its owner.
The Bikeriders‘ ensemble also includes Michael Shannon (Bullet Train), Mike Faist (West Side Story), Boyd Holbrook (Logan), and Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead). And according to 20th Century Studios, many members of the film’s cast did their own riding scenes.
Written and directed by Jeff Nichols (Loving, Midnight Special), The Bikeriders will open in theaters on December 1, 2023. (Update: The film was moved off of a 2023 release to 2024.)
The Bikeriders is a furious drama following the rise of a fictional 1960s Midwestern motorcycle club through the lives of its members. Inspired by Danny Lyon’s iconic book of photography, The Bikeriders immerses you in the look, feel, and sounds of the bare-knuckled, grease-covered subculture of ’60s motorcycle riders.
Kathy (Comer), a strong-willed member of the Vandals who’s married to a wild, reckless bikerider named Benny (Butler), recounts the Vandals’ evolution over the course of a decade, beginning as a local club of outsiders united by good times, rumbling bikes, and respect for their strong, steady leader Johnny (Hardy). Over the years, Kathy tries her best to navigate her husband’s untamed nature and his allegiance to Johnny, with whom she feels she must compete for Benny’s attention.
As life in the Vandals gets more dangerous, and the club threatens to become a more sinister gang, Kathy, Benny, and Johnny are forced to make choices about their loyalty to the club and to each other.
