Fire Country stars Max Thieriot as Bode Donovan, a young convict seeking redemption and a shortened prison sentence by joining a prison release firefighting program in Northern California, where he and other inmates are partnered with elite firefighters to extinguish massive, unpredictable wildfires across the region. It’s a high-risk, high-reward assignment, and the heat is turned up when Bode is assigned to the program in his rural hometown, where he was once a golden all-American son until his troubles began.
Five years ago, Bode burned down everything in his life, leaving town with a big secret. Now he’s back, with the rap sheet of a criminal and the audacity to believe in a chance for redemption with Cal Fire.
Dear Zoe is the story of healing, of carrying on when getting out of bed or performing mundane tasks feels too overwhelming to attempt. It’s the story of the “before and after” – the dividing line between life before a traumatic event and after an unimaginable loss rocks your world.
The Zoe referenced in the title is an adorable young girl who’s showered with love by her mom, dad, and two sisters. Zoe means “life” in Greek, but the child’s tragic death is what marks the “before and after” in the shattered lives of the family she leaves behind.
Sadie Sink, who’s coming off a breakthrough season on Stranger Things, stars as Zoe’s older sister, Tess. Tess had a relatively happy life before the tragedy. She didn’t feel warm and fuzzy about her stepdad, but otherwise, she had a normal home life.
At 16, Tess was dealing with normal teenage issues and then 9/11 hit. While the world watched in horror as terrorists attacked America, Tess and her family were forced to deal with a horror that struck closer to home. Zoe was ripped out of their lives as the result of a horrific accident right outside their house.
Zoe’s death leaves her family devastated and floundering. Grief is incredibly personal, and each family member faces the “after” in their own way while sharing a sense that nothing will ever be the same.
For Tess, her instinct is to flee to her dad’s rather than remain among the walking dead who’ve replaced her mom, Elly (Jessica Capshaw), and her stepdad, David (Justin Bartha). She regrets leaving her younger half-sister, Emily (Vivien Lyra Blair), behind, realizing the child needs her now more than ever. But Tess also needs to take care of herself and that means an unplanned, unannounced stay at her real dad’s house.
Nick (Theo Rossi) lives in a lower-class neighborhood and doesn’t have a job. But he does have a warm heart and a room set up just waiting for whenever Tess pops by. He’s also got a litter of puppies to distract Tess and a willingness to allow his grieving daughter her own space. There’s no pressure at her dad’s place and Tess slowly emerges from under the dark cloud of grief.
Sadie Sink stars in ‘Dear Zoe’
Sadie Sink does a phenomenal job as Tess, a teenager forced to face the sudden loss of someone she loved deeply and who emerges stronger from the experience. Tess is flawed and relatable; she doesn’t always make the right choices. Sink’s performance allows us to live each of the heartbreaks with Tess, and also celebrate the moments when Tess allows herself to just breathe.
Most of the lighter, untroubled moments in Tess’s life during the year following Zoe’s death are due to the handsome guy living next door to her dad’s place. Kweku Collins plays Jimmy, a guy that Tess’s dad warns her away from but Tess is drawn to like a moth to the flame. The feeling’s mutual, and their relationship is surprisingly sweet and completely necessary to Tess’s healing process. Collins and Sink have great chemistry, and their scenes are among the film’s best.
Theo Rossi, Justin Bartha, Vivien Lyra Blair, and Jessica Capshaw are terrific, and the splintered family dynamic feels genuine and unforced. Their reactions to the tragedy ring true and nothing is overplayed or feels melodramatic, which could have easily been the case.
Directed by Gren Wells and based on Philip Beard’s bestselling young-adult novel, Dear Zoe walks us through the stages of grief without any sugar-coating. As seen from Tess’s perspective, finding a way through to the other side is a struggle that can ultimately lead to healing. The process isn’t easy but reaching out for help is integral in moving forward.
Dear Zoe weaves incredibly complex themes including grief, guilt, and healing into a compelling coming-of-age story. The film does an impressive job of taking us along on Tess’s journey to reach the light at the end of a very dark tunnel.

Season One Synopsis:
It’s been nearly 30 years since Dr. Sam Beckett stepped into the Quantum Leap accelerator and vanished. Now, a new team, led by physicist Ben Song (Lee), has been assembled to restart the project in hope of understanding the mysteries behind the machine and the man who created it.
Everything changes, however, when Ben makes an unauthorized leap into the past, leaving the team behind to solve the mystery of why he did it. At Ben’s side throughout his leaps is Addison (Bassett), who appears in the form of a hologram only Ben can see and hear. She’s a decorated Army veteran who brings level-headed precision to her job.
At the helm of the highly confidential operation is Herbert “Magic” Williams (Hudson), a no-nonsense career military man who has to answer to his bosses who won’t be happy once they learn about the breach of protocol. The rest of the team at headquarters includes Ian Wright (Park), who runs the Artificial Intelligence unit “Ziggy,” and Jenn Chou (Lee), who heads up digital security for the project.
As Ben leaps from life to life, putting right what once went wrong, it becomes clear that he and the team are on a thrilling journey. However, Addison, Magic, Ian and Jenn know that if they are going to solve the mystery of Ben’s leap and bring him home, they must act fast or lose him forever.

Amidst the neon lights and long shadows, dark threats continue to lurk in Sin City. Maxine Roby leads her brilliant team of Crime Scene Investigators – Joshua Folsom, Allie Rajan, Detective Serena Chavez, Chris Park, and Beau Finado – as they use science to solve baffling cases. Catherine Willows returns to help the CSIs face off with a dealer of death who is planning to beat the odds in Las Vegas.

Three-time Emmy nominee Kate Burton (Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal) guest stars on CBS’s So Help Me Todd season one episode five, “Let the Wright One In.” Directed by Keith Powell from a script by Andy Berman, episode five will air on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at 9pm ET/PT.

Clayton James, Zarrin Darnell-Martin, Anne-Marie Johnson, Shawn MacDonald, Anisa Harris, and Rob Labelle guest star.
“Let the Wright One In” Plot: Margaret attempts to join an elite philanthropy club and must represent a former club employee accused of using the organization to smuggle drugs. Also, Todd goes undercover as a waiter at the elite club to get information to help Margaret’s case.
Marcia Gay Harden and Skylar Astin star as razor-sharp, meticulous attorney Margaret Wright (Harden) and Todd (Astin), her talented but scruffy, aimless son whom she hires as her law firm’s in-house investigator. As the black sheep of the well-heeled Wright family, Todd is a laidback, quick-thinking, excellent former private detective who fell on hard times after his flexible interpretation of the law got his license revoked. Margaret’s penchant for excellence and strict adherence to the law is at complete odds with Todd’s scrappy methods of finding his way through sticky situations: by the seat of his wrinkled pants.
When Todd inadvertently teams with his mother on a case, she’s surprised to find herself duly impressed by – and proud of – his crafty ability to sleuth out information with his charm and his wide-ranging tech savvy. At last, Margaret sees a way to put her son on a “suitable” path to living an adult, financially solvent life she approves of, and she asks him to join her firm. Todd agrees since it means getting his license back and once again doing the job he excels at and loves.
Mother and son working together is a big first step toward mending their fragile, dysfunctional relationship, and they may even come away with a better understanding of each other at this pivotal point in their lives. But whether Todd and Margaret will be able to accept each other for who they are is another case entirely.
CBS’s Ghosts gets into the Halloween spirit with a spooky seance on season two episode five. Directed by Katie Locke O’Brien from a script by Kira Kalush, episode five – “Halloween 2: The Ghost of Hetty’s Past” – is set to air on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at 8:30pm ET/PT.
Rose McIver and Utkarsh Ambudkar return as Samantha and Jay, the living residents of the mansion. Reprising their roles as the resident ghosts are Brandon Scott Jones as Isaac, Richie Moriarty as Pete, Danielle Pinnock as Alberta, and Asher Grodman as Trevor. Román Zaragoza stars as Sasappis, Sheila Carrasco plays Flower, Rebecca Wisocky is Hetty, and Devan Chandler Long plays Thorfinn.
John Hartman, Tristan D. Lalla, Carolyn Taylor, Punkie Johnson, Darrin Baker, and Hannah Rose May guest star.
“Halloween 2: The Ghost of Hetty’s Past” Plot: A séance at Sam and Jay’s last-minute Halloween party conjures up a spirit from Hetty’s past. Also, Isaac worries Nigel will be turned off by his ghost power.
Ghosts is a single-camera comedy about Samantha and Jay, a cheerful freelance journalist and up-and-coming chef from the city, respectively, who threw both caution and money to the wind when they decide to convert a huge rundown country estate they inherited into a bed & breakfast – only to find it was inhabited by the many spirits of deceased residents who now call it home.
The departed souls are a close-knit, eclectic group that includes a saucy Prohibition-era lounge singer (Pinnock); a pompous 18th-century militiaman (Jones); a ‘60s hippie fond of hallucinogens (Carrasco); an overly upbeat ‘80s scout troop leader (Moriarty); a cod-obsessed Viking explorer from 1009 (Devon Chandler Long); a slick ‘90s finance bro (Grodman); a sarcastic and witty native from the 16th-century (Zaragoza); and a society woman and wife of a 19th-century robber baron who is Samantha’s ancestor (isocky), to name a few.
The opening of the B&B is a source of intrigue, anxiety, and curiosity among the spirits, but they’ll gladly put up with the commotion as long as they can continue to interact with a living inhabitant – Samantha.

Eddie Redmayne as Charlie Cullen and Jessica Chastain as Amy Loughren in ‘The Good Nurse’ (Photo Credit: JoJo Whilden / Netflix)
Eddie Redmayne and Jessica Chastain went through weeks of nursing school to prepare for Netflix’s The Good Nurse, a gripping drama based on the horrifying true story of serial killer Charles Cullen. Charles was employed as a nurse for 16 years and, over the course of his career, is thought to have killed 400 patients. He confessed to killing 40 patients and is confirmed to having murdered 29.
Redmayne stars as the prolific serial killer who managed to operate under the radar for more than a decade. Chastain plays heroic nurse Amy Loughren who befriended Charlie before realizing he was killing patients. Amy went to the police with her suspicions and her willingness to wear a wire provided the evidence the police needed to make an arrest.
Director Tobias Lindholm and the film’s Oscar-winning stars were committed to accurately portraying nurses, and real doctors and nurses are featured in the background in scenes, rather than actors. They were also assisted by a nurse on set to ensure the medical scenes were correct.
“We spent a lot of time, of course, with saline bags and IVs,” said Chastain during a press conference hosted by Netflix for the Critics Choice Association. Chastain and Redmayne also learned how to properly take off gloves and do compressions correctly – not how the life-saving measure is normally portrayed on screen.
Eddie Redmayne said spending time with the real Amy Loughren and real nurses was one of the real treats of making The Good Nurse. “[…] Getting a sense of how dumbfounding it is, what they do. The thing that blew my mind is what a polymath you basically have to be to be a nurse. You have to be intellectually rigorous with science and math. The physical capability of moving bodies…that was something that I’d taken for granted, along with like the emotional intelligence you have to have to be able to be this conduit between doctors and families, you know, at the most vulnerable times.
If I wasn’t already impressed with what they did, by the time that we finished, we were both pretty astounded.”
Redmayne approached playing Charlie first by reading 2013’s The Good Nurse by Charles Graeber. The film covers the last third of the book, but the first two-thirds are what Redmayne calls an actor’s dream. “They’re a biographical, incredibly descriptive description of his life and his trauma,” explained Redmayne. After that, he worked with a dialogue coach and dancer to find Charlie’s unique physicality. Redmayne also credits Amy Loughren with providing him with details on her relationship with Charlie.
Chastain also read the book to help immerse herself in the story. Plus, she had the added benefit of being able to speak with the real Amy Loughren.
Chastain recalled that during one Zoom conversation she asked Amy Loughren why she chose to be a night nurse. “She said, ‘So my children would think that they had a stay-at-home mom.’ And I thought what does that mean? Okay, you’re working all night taking care of others and then you come home and you’re taking care of your children. And there’s the sense of like the selfless generosity that goes along with that, of wanting to care for others. And that was a huge way in for me,” explained Chastain.
Chastain continued: “And then we had our nurse/teacher Joe who was always on set with us, and there was a scene in the script of me taking care of a woman who was in a coma. There was no dialogue in it. But every time we had the opportunity to go to [Joe] and say, ‘What would we do? How would you do this scene?’ because you had to learn all the actions. As I was learning the actions, I talked to him about what it would be. He goes, ‘You know, you could just talk to her. She can hear you.’
And so, when we filmed that scene, I remember Tobias saying that he was watching it thinking he was not going to hear anything. All of a sudden, I just started talking to her and [Tobias was confused]. And that all came from being able to have the medical professionals on set with us.”
Since filming The Good Nurse both Chastain and Redmayne have become a little leery of having IVs. “I get those vitamin IVs sometimes, and I look at it when they’re putting it in. I look at the tube and I’m like, ‘Is that too much air in the tube? That’s too much air; that can be dangerous for me, right? That shouldn’t go in my blood,’’’ confessed Chastain, laughing.
“Straight after we finished doing The Good Nurse I was doing a musical in London. I was broke and tired, and they offered us one of those vitamin IVs. I was like, ‘Yeah, yeah,’ and then suddenly I saw this thing hanging and I was like, ‘I don’t know if I can do it!’” added Redmayne.
The Good Nurse will have a limited release in theaters on October 19, 2022, followed by a release on Netflix on October 26th.
The Plot: Amy, a compassionate nurse and single mother struggling with a life-threatening heart condition, is stretched to her physical and emotional limits by the hard and demanding night shifts at the ICU. But help arrives, when Charlie, a thoughtful and empathetic fellow nurse, starts at her unit.
While sharing long nights at the hospital, the two develop a strong and devoted friendship, and for the first time in years, Amy truly has faith in her and her young daughters’ future. But after a series of mysterious patient deaths sets off an investigation that points to Charlie as the prime suspect, Amy is forced to risk her life and the safety of her children to uncover the truth.
