SEAL Team‘s Max Thieriot stars in CBS’s new drama Fire Country, inspired by Thieriot’s experiences growing up in Northern California. The network’s just released the synopsis for episode one airing on Friday, October 7, 2022 at 9pm ET/PT, along with new photos.
In addition to Thieriot, season one’s regulars include Billy Burke as Vince, Kevin Alejandro as Manny, Diane Farr as Sharon, Stephanie Arcila as Gabriela, Jordan Calloway as Jake, and Jules Latimer as Eve. It’s a high-risk, high-reward assignment, and the heat is turned up when Bode is assigned to the program in his rural hometown, where he was once a golden all-American son until his troubles began.
Five years ago, Bode burned down everything in his life, leaving town with a big secret. Now he’s back, with the rap sheet of a criminal and the audacity to believe in a chance for redemption with Cal Fire.
James Strong directed the series premiere from a script by Joan Rater and Tony Phelan.
Starz has served up our first real look at two new key Outlander season seven cast members. The minute-and-a-half video introduces Outlander fans to Joey Phillips as Dr. Denzell Hunter and Izzy Meikle-Small as Rachel Hunter.
Phillips and Meikle-Small play siblings who have a very close, loving relationship. Phillips describes Denzell as a surgeon with a real desire to join the Continental Army because “he believes that liberty is a gift from God.” Rachel’s conflicted about Denzell’s decision but accompanies him anyway because she doesn’t really have anywhere else to go.
In the video, Izzy Meikle-Small confirms their season seven costumes will be very modest because they’re Quakers.
Season seven’s newcomers also include Charles Vandervaart as William Ransom, the secret son of Jamie Fraser. And Starz offers this description of Vandervaart’s character:
“Raised by his stepfather, Lord John Grey (David Berry), William, the ninth Earl of Ellesmere, is a highly anticipated character from the book series. In season seven, William arrives in Wilmington full of patriotic zeal and enthusiasm to join the British Army and help put an end to the escalating tensions in the American Colonies. As fans may remember from season three, William is actually the biological son of Jamie Fraser, though he does not know the truth of his parentage. On the surface, William Ransom is a courteous aristocrat but simmering under the surface is a Highlander’s fire.”
Outlander season seven is based on Diana Gabaldon’s An Echo in the Bone. Author Gabaldon’s official website says the seventh book of the Outlander series focuses on four main storylines:
Jamie and Claire Fraser are now in the midst of the American Revolution;
Their daughter Brianna, her husband Roger MacKenzie, and their two children settled at Lallybroch in the 1970′s (finding their feet after their return from the past – but are unaware that that past is just about to leap out at them again);
Lord John Grey and his step-son William (Jamie’s unacknowledged illegitimate son) are embroiled in the Revolution on the British side with William in the army and Lord John on the clandestine side of intelligence; and
Jamie’s nephew Young Ian: his troubled love life is about to take another sharp left turn.
Season four of CBS’s FBI: Most Wanted kicks off with an episode that finds the team investigating illegal firearms. FBI: Most Wanted season four episode one, “Iron Pipeline,” was directed by Peter Stebbings and airs on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at 10pm ET/PT.
Season four stars Dylan McDermott as Supervisory Special Agent Remy Scott, Alexa Davalos as Special Agent Kristin Gaines, Roxy Sternberg as Special Agent Sheryll Barnes, and Keisha Castle-Hughes as Special Agent Hana Gibson. Rebecca Brooksher recurs as Claire Scott and Catherine Wolf recurs as Betsy Scott.
Episode one guest stars include Chris Mason, Isaiah Dòdó-Williams, Benedict Samuel, Shaun Anthony, Larry Mitchell, and Michael Cram.
“Iron Pipeline” Plot: When a family of four from New York is found dead in a Georgia motel room, the Fugitive Task Force investigates a connection between the victims and the sale of illegal firearms. Also, Barnes struggles with Remy’s leadership style upon her return from maternity leave, and Remy and his sister plan for their mother’s care.

It’s easy for talented chefs to whip up a five-star meal from ingredients found in a kitchen, but what happens when you challenge those same world-class chefs to forage for ingredients? Hulu’s new cooking competition series Chefs vs. Wild pairs chefs with survivalists and then sends them off into the wilderness to cook up an impressive meal.
Award-winning chef and restaurateur Kiran Jethwa hosts the series and serves as a judge along with wild foods expert Valerie Segrest.
The eight-episode first season premieres on September 26, 2022 with the release of the first two episodes. Two new episodes will be released each week leading up to the October 17th finale.
Hulu released the following description of season one:
“Reaching the peak of the culinary world has never been this demanding. In each episode of Chefs vs. Wild, two different world-class chefs will be dropped into the wilderness where they’ll embark on a grueling and unprecedented mission – survive and forage enough wild ingredients to create a restaurant-worthy, five-star meal. Episodes will culminate in the chefs going head-to-head in a wilderness kitchen, using their foraged ingredients and ingenuity to create savory dishes and, ultimately, impress the judges.”
Season 1 Episode 1 “Smoked Out” Chefs and Survivalists:
Chef Sammy Monsour from Cary, North Carolina – Sammy is a third-generation chef and a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America. He’s opened restaurants to rave reviews, published cookbooks, and proven himself as an activist in the sustainability field. His work has been recognized by the James Beard foundation, Zagat, and he has received a Michelin Award. Taking food from the wild and making it shine on the plate is his specialty!
Chef Viet Pham from Salt Lake City, Utah – Viet is a classically trained chef and a self-proclaimed “MacGyver” chef. After attending California Culinary Academy, he worked for Laurent Gras and eventually put his name on the map with his own restaurant, Forage. He won Food & Wine’s Best New Chef 2011 and received multiple James Beard nominations. A few of Viet’s favorite wild ingredients are herbs, wild trout, and cooking over a live fire.
Survivalist Robin Lafreniere from Lac du Bonnet, Manitoba, CAN – Robin is from Lake Manitoba First Nations and is a survival instructor at the International School of Survival. She is a member of the Anishinaabe First Nations tribe and living off the land is part of her heritage. She is an expert at shelter-building, fire-building, and foraging. Her favorite ingredients are chaga, chanterelles, fiddleheads, and wild onions.
Survivalist David Noel from Hilliardton, Ontario, CAN – David lives off the grid in a 160-square-foot cabin in the woods. He is self-employed and able to dedicate his life to being in nature and his son. Having experience with construction, one of his biggest strengths is being able to build shelters out of different materials. He went to school for culinary arts and business management and loves to cook quirky dishes such as rabbit brain pudding!
Season 1 Episode 2 “Oh Matsutake, Where Art Thou?” Chefs and Survivalists:
Chef Nico Albert from Tulsa, Oklahoma – Nico is a self-taught chef, owner of Burning Cedar Indigenous Foods and Founder of Burning Cedar Sovereign Wellness. As a child, she spent time in her mother’s kitchen preparing meals for her family. Her passion for food and her Cherokee roots inspired her to create contemporary recipes that revitalize Indigenouscuisine and educate her community on healthy eating and food sovereignty.
Chef Alan Bergo from Menomonie, Wisconsin – Alan Bergo is a James Beard Award-winning chef, author, and host of the show Field Forest Feast on Tastemade. He currently resides in rural Wisconsin where he hunts edible plants and mushrooms as a full-time career, testing recipes, writing cookbooks, and crafting once-in-a-lifetime meals. Notably, he was executive Chef of Lucia’s Restaurant and Wine Bar, and SousChef at Heartland Restaurant in St. Paul-an establishment that only served food found within a 200-mile radius of its doors.
Survivalist Greg Chaney from Juneau, Alaska – Greg has lived in Alaska for 40 years. He resides on an off-grid property on a remote island in Southeast Alaska. He loves doing things the “old-school” way and considers himself a minimalist when it comes to survival. Not only can he get his fire and shelter set up, but he’s made his own fishing nets and poles. Now that he’s retired, he has big plans to go on more adventures and expeditions!
Survivalist Baha Mahmutov from Wharncliffe, Ontario, CAN – Baha is originally from Kyrgyzstan and grew up while the country was part of the Soviet Union. He eventually fled the country and came to the US for a better life. He and his wife live in Ontario, Canada where they raise birds, ducks, chickens, turkeys, and live off the land. His biggest strength in survival skills is foraging, particularly for mushrooms, herbs, berries, and wild plants.
Esther Smith and Rafe Spall star in ‘Trying’ (Photo Credit: Apple TV+)
Apple TV+ has officially renewed the critically acclaimed comedy Trying for a fourth season. The renewal was announced just days ahead of the show’s season three finale.
Esther Smith and Rafe Spall star as Nikki and Jason, a couple who’ve tried for years to have a family. In season three, Nikki and Jason opened their hearts and their home to foster children.
The series’ cast also includes Oliver Chris as Freddy, Sian Brooke as Karen, BAFTA Award winner Darren Boyd as Scott, and Robyn Cara as Jen. Mickey McAnulty plays Tyler and Eden Togwell is Princess.
Andy Wolton created the series and serves as writer and executive producer. Director Jim O’Hanlon and Josh Cole also executive produce.
In a recent interview with Screen Rant, Rafe Spall talked about the show’s appeal. “I think that one of the things that keeps the show going is a rich, varied landscape of characters. You need the show to move beyond its original conceit of a couple trying to adopt to a group of people that an audience member wants to hang out with once a year. And I think Andy has done a really good job of creating a rich cast of people that are all spinning plates that can all go in different directions,” said Spall.
Spall added: “All of my favorite shows have got that. And even though Nikki and Jason are at the center of this show, it’s been really fun to see all of the different characters come to the fore. If we go on and do more of this show, I look forward to seeing what else comes and what else he’s up to.”
Season 3’s Plot: The third season finds Nikki, played by BAFTA Award nominee Esther Smith, and Jason, played by SAG Award nominee Rafe Spall, waking up as new parents to two children they are still getting to know. Now they just have to keep hold of them, which proves to be trickier than they initially thought. Thrown straight into the parental deep end, Nikki and Jason’s relationships with each other and with their nearest and dearest are tested as they desperately try to navigate the ups and downs of parenting – while hanging onto their kids, and their sanity.
