The final three-minute trailer for writer/director Jordan Peele’s much-anticipated horror thriller Nope sheds a lot more light on what’s actually going on in the film. The trailer reveals the Hayward family’s ranch is a prime UFO viewing spot and ranch owners James (Daniel Kaluuya, Get Out) and Jill Haywood (Keke Palmer, Hustlers) decide to cash in on their appearance. However, these aliens prefer to keep their presence hidden, and setting up cameras only serves to piss them off.
Joining Oscar winner Daniel Kaluuya (Judas and the Black Messiah) and Keke Palmer in Jordan Peele’s twisted alien tale are Oscar nominee Steven Yeun (Minari), Michael Wincott (Westworld), and Brandon Perea (The OA). Described as an “expansive horror epic,” the simple synopsis says Nope follows “residents in a lonely gulch of inland California who bear witness to an uncanny and chilling discovery.”
Universal Pictures is releasing Nope in theaters on July 22, 2022.

Anders Holm joins ‘The Muppets Mayhem’ (Photo Credit: Disney / Mitch Haaseth)
Anders Holm (Workaholics, Inventing Anna) has joined the cast of the live-action Muppets series, The Muppets Mayhem, in a recurring guest star role. Holm will play JJ, “a formerly sheepish, nerdy intern-turned uber-cool, tech entrepreneur” and ex-boyfriend of one of the lead characters, Nora (played by Lilly Singh). Per Disney+ “On the surface, his ambition knows no bounds, but the real JJ underneath still hopes to win back Nora.”
The Mysterious Benedict Society‘s Saara Chaudry has also signed on to Disney+’s upcoming musical comedy series. Chaudry will play Hannah, Nora’s younger sister. Hannah’s described as the more accomplished sister. “Raised in the era of likes, shares and the idea that ‘if it wasn’t posted, it didn’t happen,’ Hannah translated her e-acumen and talent for enthusiastic and aspirational make-up videos into a burgeoning social media empire, complete with a legion of ‘Fan-a-Hannahs.’ Her success has unfortunately upended her dynamic with Nora.”
Tahj Mowry (Baby Daddy) was previously announced to star as Gary ‘Moog’ Moogowski.
Adam F. Goldberg (The Goldbergs), Bill Barretta (Muppets Haunted Mansion), and Jeff Yorkes developed the series and serve as writers. Goldberg, Barretta, Michael Bostick, Kris Eber, and The Muppets Studio’s David Lightbody and Leigh Slaughter executive produce. The series is produced by The Muppets Studio and ABC Signature.
Disney+’s official plot description:
“The comedy series follows The Electric Mayhem Band — Dr. Teeth on vocals and keyboards, Animal on drums, Floyd Pepper on vocals and bass, Janice on vocals and lead guitar, Zoot on saxophone and Lips on trumpet — on an epic, music-filled journey to record their first-ever studio album. With the help of a driven young music executive, Nora Gibbs (Singh), the old-school Muppet band comes face to face with the current day music scene as they try to finally go platinum.”
Harry Styles continues to add to his acting resume, with Amazon Studios just releasing the first two photos from one of his upcoming films, My Policeman. The new stills feature singer-actor Styles, Emmy nominee Emma Corrin (Princess Diana in The Crown), and David Dawson (The Last Kingdom, Ripper Street).
The R-rated drama is based on the book by Bethan Roberts and directed by Michael Grandage (2018’s Red). Ron Nyswaner adapted Roberts’ book for the screen and Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Robbie Rogers, Cora Palfrey, and Philip Herd served as producers. Grandage, Michael Riley McGrath, and Caroline Levy executive produced.
The cast also includes Gina McKee, Linus Roache, and Rupert Everett.
In addition to My Boyfriend, Harry Styles will soon be seen in Don’t Worry Darling directed by and co-starring Olivia Wilde (the actors made their off-screen relationship public in early 2021). His film credits include a cameo in Eternals and playing a soldier in Christopher Nolan’s critically acclaimed Dunkirk.
My Policeman will open in theaters on October 21, 2022. It will be available on Prime Video starting November 4th.
“A beautifully crafted story of forbidden love and changing social conventions, My Policeman follows three young people – policeman Tom (Styles), teacher Marion (Corrin), and museum curator Patrick (Dawson)– as they embark on an emotional journey in 1950s Britain. Flashing forward to the 1990s, Tom (Roache), Marion (McKee), and Patrick (Everett) are still reeling with longing and regret, but now they have one last chance to repair the damage of the past.
Based on the book by Bethan Roberts, director Michael Grandage carves a visually transporting, heart-stopping portrait of three people caught up in the shifting tides of history, liberty, and forgiveness.”
Hulu’s unveiled the first teaser trailer for their limited series Mike, based on the life of boxer Mike Tyson. The one-minute teaser shows clips of Trevante Rhodes (Moonlight) as Tyson developing his skills in the ring, falling in love with Robin Givens, losing control, walking through a prison, and about to take a bite out of Evan Holyfield’s ear.
For those wondering if this will be a glossed-over portrayal of the former heavyweight champion, Hulu describes the eight-episode limited series as an “unauthorized and no-holds-barred look” at Tyson.
The cast includes Russell Hornsby as Don King, Harvey Keitel as Cus D’Amato, Laura Harrier as Robin Givens, and Li Eubanks as Desiree Washington. Steven Rogers (I, Tonya screenwriter) created the series and executive produces along with series star Rhodes, Claire Brown, Anthony Hemingway, Anthony Sparks, Samantha Corbin-Miller, Entertainment 360’s Darin Friedman, and I, Tonya director Craig Gillespie. Clubhouse Pictures’ Bryan Unkeless and Scott Morgan and LuckyChap’s Tom Ackerley and Margot Robbie also executive produce.
Karin Gist executive produces and serves as showrunner of the 20th Television production.
Mike will premiere on Hulu on August 25, 2022.

The plot, courtesy of Hulu:
“From creator/screenwriter Steven Rogers and the team behind I, Tonya and showrunner Karin Gist, executive producer of Our Kind of People, Mike explores the dynamic and controversial story of Mike Tyson. The 8-episode limited series explores the tumultuous ups and downs of Tyson’s boxing career and personal life – from being a beloved global athlete to a pariah and back again.
Focusing the lens on Mike Tyson, the series examines class in America, race in America, fame and the power of media, misogyny, the wealth divide, the promise of the American Dream and ultimately our own role in shaping Mike’s story.”
Rocketman star Taron Egerton plays Jimmy Keene, a convict who’s given the opportunity to shorten his sentence if he elicits a confession from a suspected serial killer in Apple TV+’s Black Bird. The six-episode limited series, which just dropped a full trailer, is based on a true story and adapted from James Keene and Hillel Levin’s true crime memoir, In With The Devil: A Fallen Hero, A Serial Killer, and A Dangerous Bargain for Redemption.
Emmy Award nominee Ray Liotta stars as Jimmy Keene’s father Big Jim Keene. Sadly, Liotta passed away in his sleep on May 26, 2022 at the age of 67. The cast also includes Paul Walter Hauser as Larry Hall, Greg Kinnear as Brian Miller, and Sepideh Moafi as Lauren McCauley.
Bestselling author Dennis Lehane developed the project and executive produces the psychological thriller. Lehane also adapted Keene’s memoir, with Oscar nominee Michaël R. Roskam directing the first three episodes and executive producing. Taron Egerton, James Keene, Kary Antholis, EDEN Productions’ Richard Plepler, and Imperative Entertainment’s Bradley Thomas, Dan Friedkin, and Ryan Friedkin are also involved as executive producers. Additional executive producers include Alexandra Milchan and Scott Lambert of EMJAG Productions.
Black Bird will premiere on Apple TV+ on July 8, 2022 with the release of the first two episodes. The remaining episodes will debut on subsequent Fridays leading up to the August 5th finale.
Apple TV+’s official Black Bird synopsis:
“Inspired by actual events, when high school football hero and decorated policeman’s son Jimmy Keene (Egerton) is sentenced to 10 years in a minimum-security prison, he is given the choice of a lifetime — enter a maximum-security prison for the criminally insane and befriend suspected serial killer Larry Hall (Hauser), or stay where he is and serve his full sentence with no possibility of parole.
Keene quickly realizes his only way out is to elicit a confession and find out where the bodies of several young girls are buried before Hall’s appeal goes through. But is this suspected killer telling the truth? Or is it just another tale from a serial liar? This dramatic and captivating story subverts the crime genre by enlisting the help of the very people put behind bars to solve its mysteries.”

CBS just announced the 28 reality show alumni who will be competing on The Challenge: USA. Big Brother‘s well represented with nine former contestants while Survivor and Love Island each have eight alums competing. Three former The Amazing Race participants are also set to take on new, grueling challenges.
The reality competition series will kick off on July 6, 2022 with an extended 90-minute premiere airing at 9:30pm ET/PT. New episodes hosted by T.J. Lavin will air on Wednesdays at 9pm.
CBS released the following description of the new addition to MTV The Challenge franchise:
“Upon arrival, the CBS reality titans are given $1,000 to start their individual challenge accounts, and they quickly discover they must battle to keep and increase their handsome reward. In each episode, an algorithm pairs contestants who will face off to earn money for their accounts by winning challenges or eliminating their opponents. This will not be an easy task, as they will be paired with a randomly selected competitor every episode, making alliances and strategies more difficult than ever.
Players must adapt to survive the game and protect their challenge accounts. With the $500,000 grand prize and title of Challenge Champion on the line, players will be in a constant state of paranoia, unable to trust anyone but themselves.”
The new two-minute Nope featurette – “A Cinematic Event” – provides a behind the scenes look at writer/director Jordan Peele’s much-anticipated third feature film. “You know, this whole film is all about as ambitious a cinematic event as I’ve kind of planned so far in my career. I tried to write a script that I didn’t know how to pull it off, and then assemble the team to help me pull it off,” explains Peele.
Described as an expansive horror epic, Nope reunites Jordan Peele with his Get Out star Oscar winner Daniel Kaluuya. The cast also includes Keke Palmer (Hustlers, Alice) and Oscar nominee Steven Yeun (Minari) “as residents in a lonely gulch of inland California who bear witness to an uncanny and chilling discovery.” Michael Wincott (Westworld) and Brandon Perea (The OA) also star.

The first trailer for New Line Cinema’s Black Adam provides our first extensive look at Dwayne Johnson as the DC superhero. The idea of bringing the character alive on screen via Dwayne Johnson has been in the works for a decade, and now the two minute trailer appears to confirm the wait was well worthwhile.
Black Adam reunites Johnson with his Jungle Cruise director Jaume Collet-Serra. “When I started reading about Black Adam, I became really interested in how unconventional of a character he is,” said Collet-Serra in an interview with EW. “Is he a hero? Is he a villain? Is he an antihero? He has such a unique story, and he goes well with my style and view of the world in general. In a world where not everything is black or white, you need a superhero like him to operate in the gray area, who has his own moral code.”
The much-anticipated comic book-inspired film also features members of the Justice Society of America including Aldis Hodge (City on a Hill) as Hawkman, Noah Centineo (To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before) as Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell (Voyagers) as Cyclone, and Pierce Brosnan (Mamma Mia) as Dr. Fate. Sarah Shahi (Sex/Life) plays Adrianna, Marwan Kenzari (Murder on the Orient Express) is Ishmael, and Bodhi Sabongui (A Million Little Things) is Amon.
Adam Sztykiel, Rory Haines, and Sohrab Noshirvani wrote the screenplay based on the characters created by Bill Parker and C.C. Beck. Beau Flynn, Dwayne Johnson, Hiram Garcia, Dany Garcia, Richard Brener, Walter Hamada, Dave Neustadter, Chris Pan, Eric McLeod, Geoff Johns, and Scott Sheldon produced.
Warner Bros Pictures has set an October 21, 2022 release in North America. The action drama opens internationally on October 19th.
The Plot: “Nearly 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the almighty powers of the ancient gods—and imprisoned just as quickly—Black Adam (Johnson) is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world.”

FX’s Mayans M.C. season four episode nine – the season’s penultimate episode – begins with Miguel (Danny Pino) staking out Marcus’ home. Miguel thinks he’s being stealthy, but the Mayans are at war and Marcus (Emilio Rivera) isn’t about to let anyone get the drop on him.
Miguel believes that since Marcus abandoned him, at the very least he owes him a few minutes to explain his sudden reappearance in Santo Padre.
Meanwhile, EZ (JD Pardo) and Sofia (Andrea Cortés) are naked in bed as EZ attempts to fill Sofia in on what went down the other night when he returned home covered in blood. Sofia doesn’t want to know everything but EZ believes she deserves to know what she’s getting herself into. Sofia describes herself as the death rattle everyone makes before they die; she’s just a ghost and nothing can touch her.
EZ quotes a poem by Galician poet Rosalia de Castro:
“You know where to find death? In her dark mansion. Tell her to lift my body and soul together to a place where I won’t be remembered, neither in this world or in Heaven.”
Sofia focuses on the gun in her hand and admits the idea of just disappearing sounds beautiful.
Sally’s barking interrupts the couple, and EZ heads outside to confront Jay-Jay (Greg Serano). EZ’s unexpected and unwelcome visitor explains his fellow prisoners were suspicious EZ cut a deal after failing to locate the prison EZ had been moved to. EZ claims that’s because he kept to himself, but Jay-Jay knows the Feds don’t just escort a guy doing 25-to-life out of prison so he can join a motorcycle club.
EZ pulls his gun and holds it inches from Jay-Jay’s face after Jay-Jay asks what the club would do if they knew there was an informant amongst them. However, Jay-Jay’s not there to turn EZ in; he wants a job working for the club and he’ll do anything to make money.
After Jay-Jay leaves, Sofia admits she overheard the conversation and thinks Jay-Jay will be a problem.
Over at the other Reyes brother’s place, Angel (Clayton Cardenas) tells Adelita (Carla Baretta) their boy needs a name. Angel nixes “Angel” or “Ezekiel,” and gives a hell no reply to “Felipe.” Angel tosses out Maverick and suggests their boy can become a badass fighter pilot. That’s a no from Adelita.
Angel glances at a pile of baby things for his and Nails’ deceased baby when Adelita suggests Christopher. It’s also a no to Christopher.
Rae (Erica Luttrell) wakes Gilly (Vincent Vargas), who’s sound asleep in his vehicle, to apologize that Jacob had an accident in bed. Gilly continues to prove he’s a sweet, caring man by helping the boy learn how to make a bed, military-style.
Elsewhere, Emily (Sarah Bolger) has made it to her sister Erin’s house and says goodbye to her son, promising to see him in a week. She reminds him they’re moving and he asks about his dad. They exchange I love yous and after he runs off, a frazzled Emily reminds Erin (Holland Roden) to take the passports and flee tomorrow morning. Although Erin wants her sister to join them, Emily thinks it’s still way too dangerous. She’ll follow in a few days when she’s sure it’s safe.
Erin’s freaking out but Emily reminds her she’s a fierce, strong yet annoying woman who can handle this.
And here comes the episode’s first huge game-changing revelation: Creeper’s new girlfriend Kody (Stella Maeve) is actually an undercover cop named Kate. There are hidden cameras throughout her apartment (including a just-installed camera in her bedroom). Her supervisor’s worried this will be a repeat of Nashville (wonder what happened there?) and asks for a urine test. Kate claims she’s handling everything fine, but her boss reminds her the situation is explosive, referencing recent events in Nevada, UC Davis, and San Bernardino.
Kate’s career is at stake and her boss warns that she needs to get more info from Creeper or she’ll be pulled from this investigation.

Marcus and EZ are alone in a warehouse when Marcus informs EZ he needs to put the past and what happened with Dita Galindo behind him. Marcus has barely finished delivering his warning when Miguel and El Banquero’s sister, Soledad (Selene Luna), arrive.
EZ’s shocked as is Miguel who had no idea EZ was going to attend this meeting. Soledad set up this meeting to suggest a new business arrangement between the cartel and the Mayans, with Miguel explaining the deal would “challenge the belief that brutality and profit need to co-exist.”
Soledad wants to dramatically increase the amount of product sold by the Mayans immediately. To prove she’s serious and has that much product, she has her men remove the covers from the drugs located behind her in the warehouse.
Miguel believes the Mayans can handle this and is ready to become the liaison between the cartel and the club. He’ll work directly with Marcus since they have a long-standing relationship. Marcus agrees to consider the deal and Soledad suggests he do so quickly. As for her brother and the club…El Banquero will be “handled.”
Angel’s gone when Adelita discovers Potter (Ray McKinnon) holding her baby in the bedroom. He refuses to hand over her child and instead places him in the crib. Adelita screams for Potter to leave as he reveals his son still has nightmares after Adelita locked him in a closet and threatened to kill his mom.
Potter describes how Anna Linares is believed to have murdered her husband and then taken her own life. The scene was made to look like a murder-suicide. However, although the couple didn’t have a child, her neighbors reported seeing Anna with a baby.
Potter’s reached the correct conclusion as to how and why Anna really died and he’s going to use this as leverage against Adelita.
Nails (Justina Adorno) graciously agrees to meet with Angel at the clubhouse and it’s obvious she’s devastated over the loss of their baby. Angel takes a seat on the bench and gives her a hug, apologizing for screwing everything up. He’s sorry she went through this alone and apologizes for not being there for her. He blames himself but Nails says it just happened.
Nails is confused as to why Angel wanted to meet and he assures her again he’s sorry and calls himself a piece of sh*t. She lightens the mood a bit by letting him know it didn’t take an in-person meeting for her to know that. Nails turns serious and assures Angel he’s not a horrible person and that he has a beautiful heart.
“That’s why I fell in love with you. And one day the rest of you is going to catch up to that part,” says Nails. “It just makes me sad that I won’t be there to see it.” (Damn this is an incredibly powerful scene.)
Angel’s voice cracks as he apologizes again.
Bishop (Michael Irby) is at a laundromat when he spots Maggie from Marcus’ failed dinner party. He hurries and grabs his stuff, hoping to avoid being seen but it doesn’t work. Maggie follows him outside and apologizes for bringing up her grandchild during dinner. She was unaware his own child died. However, he’s still an a**hole. She didn’t want to attend that dinner but only did so because Diana said Bishop was a decent man.
“You were a sucker punch, punching down on a woman who had the nerve to show up thinking she might have a nice evening with friends and meet a decent guy for once,” says Maggie.
She only followed him out of the laundromat to tell him he sucks. (I think I love this woman!)
Bishop teases her about “grandma business” and ultimately they agree to get together that night for a date.

Santo Padre meets and Marcus reveals he and EZ met with Miguel Galindo and El Banquero’s sister about reopening the drug pipeline. EZ believes this deal could put Santo Padre back on top and will make them untouchable. The club likes that idea but Marcus announces he’s going to say no.
Marcus believes the deal is poison and they don’t need it. Gilly points out Marcus’ decision will leave them vulnerable, but Marcus is determined to end the bloodshed.
Bishop disagrees and calls for the death of all Sons. EZ agrees with Bishop and doesn’t think now is the time to change course. Marcus is certain they need to step back, but Gilly and Hank throw their support behind EZ. Marcus doesn’t care. It’s his decision and the matter is now closed.
Taza (Raoul Max Trujillo) asks for the floor and requests permission to go nomad. Santo Padre no longer feels like home. His brothers believe he’s taking the coward’s way out and Bishop asks if he really believes he can run from what he’s done. Taza holds firm and says it’s time to go.
EZ tells Taza to get out. “If you’re not with us, you’re against us,” says EZ, adding, “I don’t want any brother next to me who doesn’t want to be.”
The decision is ultimately Marcus’ and he allows Taza to go nomad.
Creeper, Angel, and Gilly are the only three brothers who follow Taza outside. They hug him before he rides off.
And just like that, the Santo Padre charter is down another member.
Leticia (Emily Tosta) spends a moment with Coco’s body at the morgue before returning home with her dad’s possessions. She calls out to Hope but she’s not there. Instead, she finds neatly folded laundry on the bed. Leticia opens the box with Coco’s possessions and looks at his bloody cut before handling his sunglasses and thumbing through his wallet. There’s a photo of her as a child in the wallet and Leticia sobs as she holds it, recognizing how much she always meant to her father.
Angel plays with his son and Adelita confesses she has changed her mind – she’s willing to name their baby Maverick. She looked it up and likes the idea that it means a calf who hasn’t been branded. They agree to keep their baby that way. (FYI – the baby actor’s real name is Maverick James.)
Bishop and Maggie go on their first date and although Bishop looks out of place at the bowling alley, they appear to be having a good time. He even laughs for the first time in who knows how long.
Emily’s made it to a nondescript hotel and smokes as she tries to get Erin to pick up her phone. Erin hasn’t replied to her text messages over the past half hour and she’s not answering her phone. The reason becomes clear when a man is seen moving stealthily around Erin’s apartment. We hear Erin’s panicky scream as shots ring out.
EZ rolls up to his trailer and finds the door open. Felipe (Edward James Olmos) is inside and he takes the blame for how EZ turned out. Angel’s more like his mother but Felipe believes EZ is his reflection. Felipe doesn’t understand how EZ could have killed Gaby, and EZ admits he’ll be a monster if he has to to protect the people he loves.
He demands that his father show him his true self that he’s kept hidden. Felipe’s holding a gun and EZ places it to his own forehead while asking to see Ignacio. (Felipe’s real name is Ignacio Cortina.)
Felipe pulls the gun away from his youngest son’s head and EZ seems disappointed in his father’s restraint. Felipe leaves without uttering another word.
Episode nine ends with Creeper (Joseph Raymond Lucero) and Kody eating while lying on her bed. She’s impressed with his culinary skills and he describes how they improvised meals in prison. He also reveals that as a child he used to feed his brother and sister while his addict mom was gone. Kody wonders if he worries about going back to prison as she nervously glances toward the smoke detector/hidden camera.
He starts to talk about drugs and she gestures for him to be quiet. She grabs him and enters the bathroom, immediately turning on the water. Creeper’s understandably confused until she whispers the truth in his ear.
Netflix’s Geeked Week event dropped a new clip from the psychological thriller Spiderhead directed by Top Gun: Maverick‘s Joseph Kosinski. The three-minute clip features Chris Hemsworth as the head of a penitentiary who uses drugs to manipulate willing prisoners (Miles Teller and Tess Haubrich).
Jurnee Smollett (Lovecraft Country) and Mark Paguio (Lonesome) also star along with Hemsworth (the Thor films), Teller (currently seen on the big screen opposite Tom Cruise in Top Gun: Maverick), and Haubrich (Treadstone).
Deadpool‘s Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick wrote the screenplay, based on a short story by George Saunders. Hemsworth, Reese, Wernick, Eric Newman, Agnes Chu, Geneva Wasserman, Tommy Harper, and Jeremy Steckler produced.
Spiderhead will premiere on Netflix on June 17, 2022.
In a state-of-the-art penitentiary run by brilliant visionary Steve Abnesti (Hemsworth), inmates wear a surgically attached device that administers dosages of mind-altering drugs in exchange for commuted sentences. There are no bars, no cells, or orange jumpsuits. In Spiderhead, incarcerated volunteers are free to be themselves. Until they’re not.
At times, they’re a better version. Need to lighten up? There’s a drug for that. At a loss for words? There’s a drug for that, too. But when two subjects, Jeff (Teller) and Lizzy (Smollett), form a connection, their path to redemption take a twistier turn, as Abnesti’s experiments start to push the limits of free will altogether.
