Fox Sets Fall 2022-2023 Primetime Premiere Dates

Fox’s 2022-2023 fall primetime lineup will include just one new drama, the Country music-driven series Monarch starring Susan Sarandon (Thelma & Louise), multi-Platinum Country music artist Trace Adkins, and Golden Globe nominee Anna Friel (Pushing Daisies). The remainder of their fall primetime schedule consists of returning dramas 9-1-1, The Cleaning Lady, and The Resident along with returning comedies Welcome to Flatch and Call Me Kat.

In addition, Fox’s fall lineup includes new seasons of Hell’s Kitchen, The Masked Singer, and Lego Masters, as well with their Sunday night animation block.

9-1-1: Lone Star, Accused, Alert, Fantasy Island, Gordon Ramsay’s Food Stars, Next Level Chef, Masterchef, Beat Shazam, Crime Scene Kitchen, and Don’t Forget the Lyrics! are among the shows joining Fox’s primetime schedule later in the broadcast year.

Monarch Details:

‘The Sandman’ Teaser Trailer, Photos, and Mark Hamill Announcement

Netflix’s Geeked Week panel for The Sandman included the release of the gorgeous teaser trailer for the much-anticipated series. The streaming service also unveiled new photos from throughout the season and made Mark Hamill fans cheer by announcing he’ll be providing the voice of Merv Pumpkinhead.

The 10-episode season launches on Netflix on August 5, 2022.

The Sandman is based on the DC comics created by Neil Gaiman, with Gaiman involved in developing the show along with showrunner Allan Heinberg and David S. Goyer. Gaiman and Goyer are the writers and executive produce with Heinberg.

‘Strange World’ Teaser Trailer: Jake Gyllenhaal Voices a Reluctant Adventurer

The teaser trailer for Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Strange World has a real retro vibe. The minute and a half teaser begins with a ’50s sci-fi-style intro that warns viewers to prepare themselves for a journey beyond what is possible.

Thus far, Oscar nominee Jake Gyllenhaal (Brokeback Mountain) is the only voice cast member confirmed for the sci-fi adventure. Big Hero 6 and Raya and the Last Dragon‘s Don Hall directed, with Qui Nguyen co-directing and writing.

Disney’s targeting a November 23, 2022 release.

Jake Gyllenhaal (The Guilty, Spider-Man: Far from Home) lends his voice to Searcher Clade, the son of a steadfast explorer. ‘Motherland: Fort Salem’ Season 3 Preview: Episode 1 “Homo Cantus”

Freeform’s third and final season of Motherland: Fort Salem will premiere on June 21, 2022 with episode one, “Homo Cantus.” New episodes of the series’ final season will be released on Tuesdays at 10pm ET/PT, with the story picking up with Tally, Raelle, Scylla, and Abigail on the run.

Returning cast members include Taylor Hickson as Raelle Collar, Jessica Sutton as Tally Craven, Ashley Nicole Williams as Abigail Bellweather, Amalia Holm as Scylla, Demetria McKinney as Anacostia Quartermain, and Lyne Renée as General Sarah Alder. Recurring cast members include Sheryl Lee Ralph as President Wade, Victor Webster as Blanton, Tony Giroux as Adil, and Catherine Lough Haggquist as Petra Bellweather.

Eliot Laurence, Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, Kevin Messick, Amanda Tapping, Brian Studler, and Tracey Jeffrey executive produce.

“Homo Cantus” Plot: After being blamed for the death of the vice president’s daughter, the witches leave the army behind and become fugitives — but staying out of trouble is never easy. While Raelle and Scylla enjoy their reunion, Nicte tempts Tally with a new power.

‘The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes’ First Teaser

The minute and a half first teaser for Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes shows a stunning golden snake hunting a golden mockingjay after they’ve both shed their frozen exteriors. Text appears that states: “You’re invited to return to the Games. In 2023, the world will discover who is a songbird and who is a snake.”

The cast will be led by Tom Blyth (Billy the Kid) as Coriolanus Snow and Rachel Zegler (West Side Story) as Lucy Gray Baird. The Hunger Games veteran Francis Lawrence returns to direct this prequel after having helmed Catching Fire (2013), Mockingjay Part 1 (2014), and Mockingjay Part 2 (2015).

The Hunger Games films are adapted from Suzanne Collins’ bestselling dystopian novels, and Collins is on board to executive produce The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes based on her novel of the same name.

Michael Arndt and Michael Lesslie wrote the screenplay. Director Lawrence, Nina Jacobson, and Brad Simpson are producing.

Lionsgate is targeting a November 17, 2023 theatrical release.

The Plot:

“Years before he would become the tyrannical President of Panem, 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow (Blyth) is the last hope for his fading lineage, a once-proud family that has fallen from grace in a post-war Capitol. With the 10th annual Hunger Games fast approaching, the young Snow is alarmed when he is assigned to mentor Lucy Gray Baird (Zegler), the girl tribute from impoverished District 12. But, after Lucy Gray commands all of Panem’s attention by defiantly singing during the reaping ceremony, Snow thinks he might be able to turn the odds in their favor.

Uniting their instincts for showmanship and newfound political savvy, Snow and Lucy Gray’s race against time to survive will ultimately reveal who is a songbird, and who is a snake.”




‘Pirate Gold of Adak Island’ Trailer: The Hunt is on for Pirate Booty

Netflix just released the official trailer for Pirate Gold of Adak Island, a new documentary series that finds experienced treasure hunters attempting to locate buried treasure in order to help save an island. The trailer teases a few key discoveries but doesn’t reveal whether we should hold out hope that these expert searchers will have any better luck than the Fellowship of the Dig team on The History Channel’s The Curse of Oak Island. Nine seasons of that treasure-hunting series and thus far there’s been a lot of wood and old tools found but not much in the way of gold or silver.

Googling Adak Island reveals the remote island had around 171 residents in 2020. The island used to have a large military presence but now its occupants work mostly in the fish processing business. Adak’s littered with deserted businesses and homes, but Alaska’s holding out hope the military might return and revive the community at some point.

According to Historic Sites and Ship Wrecks, Captain Gregory Dwargstof of the Hitslap (a seal-hunting ship) buried $1 million there in 1892.

Netflix has set a June 29, 2022 premiere date for Pirate Gold of Adak Island.

Netflix’s official synopsis:

“Over the past one hundred years, caches of gold coins from the nineteenth century have been found buried on the remote and eerie island of Adak. The entire pirate treasure, most of which has not been found, has an estimated value of $365 Million. Mayor Tom Spitler is assembling a team of experienced treasure hunters to search for the booty, which proves to be a treacherous task as Adak is littered with unexploded bombs left over from WWII. Luckily, the mayor himself happens to be specially trained in bomb removal – but will that be enough? They could get rich, but they might die trying.”

‘Chernobyl: The Lost Tapes’ Trailer: A Deep Dive Into the Chernobyl Disaster

Incredible never-before-seen footage reveals frightening new details about the Chernobyl nuclear power plant disaster in HBO’s Chernobyl: The Lost Tapes. The just-released trailer shows how quickly the radiation spread and the impact the accident had on the surrounding population.

HBO’s set a Wednesday, June 22, 2022 premiere for the documentary from Emmy Award winner James Jones (Mosul). The deep dive into the nuclear power plant disaster includes interviews with people who had first-hand knowledge of the event including a helicopter pilot, a Russian general, a Chernobyl engineer, and the Deputy Chief Engineer of the Chernobyl Power Plant.

HBO released the following description of James Jones’ documentary:

“Thirty-six years after the Chernobyl nuclear reactor exploded in Soviet Ukraine, newly uncovered archival footage and recorded interviews with those who were present paint an emotional and gripping portrait of the extent and gravity of the disaster and the lengths to which the Soviet government went to cover up the incident, including the soldiers sent in to ‘liquidate’ the damage. Chernobyl: The Lost Tapes is the full, unvarnished true story of what happened in one of the least understood tragedies of the twentieth century.

This powerful and at times graphic film tells the story of the disaster and its far-reaching ripple effects entirely through extraordinary, immersive footage, shot on-site in the hours, days, weeks, and months following the accident. Russian-speaking British filmmaker James Jones uncovered a wealth of never-before-seen footage from a range of sources, which reveal the chilling consequences of the explosion.

Chernobyl: The Lost Tapes Poster

As soldiers, pilots and miners were called in to help contain the radiation at huge personal risk, the Soviet government continued to deny and distort the enormity of the situation. Deeply personal witness testimony helps contextualize the tragedy by providing an overview of life in Chernobyl before the meltdown and its harrowing aftermath. Government propaganda films illustrate the Soviet Union’s pride in its nuclear program and contemporaneous news reports show President Gorbachev’s delayed and misleading announcements to his countrymen.

The events at Chernobyl transformed the lives of millions of people. It is estimated that more than 200,000 people died as a result of the accident, yet the official Soviet reckoning was just 31. The mishandling of the disaster sparked distrust in the authorities, and ultimately contributed to the fall of the Soviet Union itself, while also eerily echoing the misinformation and distortion that remain today. As the Ukrainian people once more battle a powerful, autocratic state to their east, Chernobyl: The Lost Tapes highlights the true scope of this decades-old, cataclysmic event.”




‘Surface’ Series Starring Gugu Mbatha-Raw Sets July Premiere

The new psychological thriller Surface will premiere on Apple TV+ on July 29, 2022. The drama stars The Morning Show‘s Gugu Mbatha-Raw, with Mbatha-Raw also serving as an executive producer.

Surface, created by Veronica West (High Fidelity), also stars Oliver Jackson-Cohen (The Haunting of Hill House), Stephan James (If Beale Street Could Talk), Ari Graynor (I’m Dying Up Here), Oscar nominee Marianne Jean-Baptiste (Secrets & Lies), François Arnaud (Midnight, Texas), and Millie Brady (Pride and Prejudice and Zombies).

Series creator West is the writer and serves as an executive producer. Hello Sunshine’s Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter also executive produce along with Sam Miller (I May Destroy You). Miller, Kevin Sullivan, Jennifer Morrison, and Tucker Gates directed.

The eight-episode season premieres with the release of the first three episodes on July 29. New episodes arrive on subsequent Fridays.

Apple TV+ released the following description:

Set in high-end San Francisco, Surface stars Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Sophie, a woman who has suffered a traumatic head injury that has left her with extreme memory loss, believed to be a result of a suicide attempt. Alexander Ludwig Announces August Release of His Second Album

Actor/musician Alexander Ludwig (Heels, Vikings) will drop his second album – Highway 99 – on August 26, 2022. The upcoming album will include 16 tracks and is described as blending Country storytelling with rock ‘n’ roll energy.

“If my album could be summed up in a song it would be ‘Faded On Me,’” explained Ludwig. “The song spoke to me so much. As a kid, my parents taught me to roll with the punches, and this song is all about that. Taking whatever life throws your way and throwing it right back.”

Alexander Ludwig launched his music career in 2021 with the release of his self-titled album featuring the popular single “Let Me Be Your Whiskey.” His sophomore album is produced by Kurt Allison and Tully Kennedy — two longtime members of Jason Aldean’s band. Ludwig also collaborated with David Lee Murphy (Sheryl Crow, Kenny Chesney) and Michael Dulaney (Jason Aldean, Reba McEntire) on his new album.

The release date announcement was accompanied by the premiere of the album’s first single, “Faded On Me.”

‘All Star Shore’ Cast Includes Jersey Shore and Love is Blind Competitors

Paramount+ and MTV Entertainment Studios’ All Star Shore, debuting this summer, will feature 14 reality show alumni including cast members from Jersey Shore, RuPaul’s Drag Race, and Bachelor in Paradise. Cast members for the all-star series will also include previous competitors from Love is Blind, Geordie Shore, and Rio Shore.

Paramount+’s announcement confirmed the 14 contestants who will be vacationing in a gorgeous house in the Canary Islands when the series premieres on Wednesday, June 29, 2022. All Star Shore cast members will compete for cash prizes while taking part in challenges including “Party Pong” and “Shots and Found.”

ALL STAR SHORE CONTESTANTS:

  • Angelina Pivarnick (Jersey Shore) is a Shore OG, and she’s going to make sure everyone knows it. She’s bringing the mouth, the drama and the party, and will bulldoze anyone who stands in her way.
  • Bethan Kershaw (Geordie Shore) brings with her a big personality and a big heart. She and best friend Chloe are ready to take this Shore House by storm, but when her flirty ways catch the eye of a fellow housemate, she’s not prepared for what happens next.
