The Old Man centers on Dan Chase (Bridges), who absconded from the CIA decades ago and has been living off the grid since. When an assassin arrives and tries to take Chase out, the old operative learns that to ensure his future he now must reconcile his past.

With Dan Chase flushed out of hiding, the FBI’s Assistant Director for Counterintelligence Harold Harper (Lithgow) is called on to hunt him down because of his complicated past with the rogue fugitive. Working alongside Harper is his protégé Angela Adams (Shawkat) and CIA Special Agent Raymond Waters (Bonilla). When Chase proves to be more difficult to apprehend than the authorities expected, Julian Carson (Akinnagbe), a highly trained special ops contractor, is sent to pursue him as well.

While on the run, Chase rents a room from Zoe McDonald (Brenneman) who draws on reserves she never knew she had in order to survive the day when she learns the truth about her new tenant.

History’s provided the following description of Alone season nine:

This season on Alone, for the first time ever, ten contestants fight to survive in the bitter wilderness of the Northeast shores of Labrador, Canada – a location known for being the hunting ground of the predatory polar bear. Survivalists are dropped off in undisclosed, remote locations and equipped with just ten survival tools, and enough camera gear to self-document their experiences. The survivalist who endures the longest, facing total isolation, punishing weather, and deadly predators, will win the $500,000 grand prize. No camera crews. No gimmicks. Alone is the ultimate test of human will.

Season nine of Alone sets survivalists in a location with one of the harshest weather conditions yet. Enduring wet, snowy, merciless conditions, survivalists’ building ingenuity, mental willpower, and overall wilderness skills are put to the test as they must build their own shelters, forage their own food, and overcome numerous obstacles and dangerous predators in hopes of being the last person standing.

Additionally, season nine will continue to captivate audiences with the introduction of two new original digital content series, “The Ride Back” (working title) and “Shelter from the Storm” (working title). In these two series, fans will get exclusive access to never-before-seen moments through enhanced episodes on VOD and digital playlists available only on The HISTORY Channel’s official website and apps. “The Ride Back” (wt) will provide an extended look at the raw emotions each survivalist experienced during their journeys before deciding to tap out, from intimate camera conversations to unfiltered moments right before leaving the isolation, to heartfelt interviews and footage of their journey to home base where it all began.

Alternatively, “Shelter from the Storm” (wt) will provide an enhanced look into contestant’s shelters, including the pros, cons, dos, and don’ts that ultimately spell success, or disaster, for the hopeful survivalists.

Netflix’s Arnold Schwarzenegger spy series doesn’t have a title,* but it does have a bunch of new cast members. The streaming service just announced Jay Baruchel (This Is The End), Travis Van Winkle (Good Sam), and Gabriel Luna (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) have joined the series as regulars. Recurring cast members will include Devon Bostick (The 100) and Scott Thompson (Hannibal). (*It’s now called FUBAR.)

The upcoming series, currently known as Untitled Arnold Schwarzenegger Project, marks the actor and former Governor of California’s first television project. Schwarzenegger and Monica Barbaro (Top Gun: Maverick) will star.

Netflix confirmed the first season will consist of eight one-hour episodes.

The scripted action series was created by showrunner and executive producer Nick Santora. Schwarzenegger, Adam Higgs, Scott Sullivan, and Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Bill Bost are also on board as executive producers. The series is a Skydance Television production.

Netflix released the following synopsis and cast/character descriptions:

When a father and daughter learn that they’ve each secretly been working as CIA Operatives for years, they realize their entire relationship has been a lie and they truly don’t know one another at all. Forced to team up as partners, the series tackles universal family dynamics set against a global backdrop of spies, action and humor.

REGULARS:

  • Jay Baruchel (he / him) will play “Carter,” the sweet and unsuspecting boyfriend of Emma (Monica Barbaro). Carter is a kindergarten teacher who has been made to believe his CIA officer girlfriend works for a non-profit that provides clean water to those in need around the world. He prioritizes family above all, but his love of Emma will be put to the test when he finds out many secrets about her.
  • Aparna Brielle (she / her) will play “Tina,” an NSA analyst on loan to the CIA. Despite her youth, she is very good at her job – extremely capable and intelligent, though a bit intimidated by her new colleagues.
  • Andy Buckley (he / him) will play “Donnie,” Tally’s current boyfriend, who is an easy-going fellow. He is a thoughtful and positive presence in Tally’s life, but that positivity fades when he realizes Luke (Arnold Schwarzenegger) is trying to win Tally back.
  • Milan Carter (he / him) will play “Barry,” a loveable man-child and proud nerd, who is an American CIA officer that has worked closely with Luke for the past 20 years. Barry is a kind and brilliant officer who keeps Luke and his team safe while staying far away from the action.
  • Fortune Feimster (she / her) will play “Roo” (short for Ruth), a smart, sarcastic CIA Officer who looks up to Luke as a father figure.
  • Barbara Eve Harris (she / her) will play “Dot,” the Regional CIA Director. Intelligent, commanding, intimidating – Dot suffers no fools.
  • Gabriel Luna (he / him) will play “Boro,” an incredibly charismatic, Oxford-educated businessman, who’s chosen to apply those skills to a career in the illegal arms trade.
  • Fabiana Udenio (she / her) will play “Tally,” Luke’s ex-wife and Emma’s mother, who does not know that the two are in the CIA, but has always been suspicious of Luke’s frequent “business trips” which created distance in their relationship. Tally now has a new man in her life, but the chemistry between her and Luke is still palpable.
  • Travis Van Winkle (he/him) will play “Aldon,” a great CIA officer and world class wise-ass, who is a kind and sweet man under it all.

RECURRING:

  • Devon Bostick (he / him) will play “Oscar.” Luke and Tally’s son and an aspiring app developer, who has never lived up to his father’s expectations.

  • Stephanie Sy (she / her) will play “Sandy,” Oscar’s supportive wife and mother of their daughter, Romi.
  • Scott Thompson (he / him) will play “Dr. Louis Pfeffer,” an operational psychologist at the CIA responsible for conducting joint therapy sessions with Luke and Emma.

Lifetime Announces New True Crime Summer Lineup

Unscripted true crimes series Meet Marry Murder, Phrogging: Hider in My House, and #TextMeWhenYouGetHome will debut this summer as part of Lifetime’s Life & Crime Mondays lineup. #TextMeWhenYouGetHome and the UK’s Sleeping with a Killer will debut on June 6, 2022. Phrogging: Hider in My House and Meet Marry Murder will premiere later this summer.

“True crime has proven to be addictive, and people cannot get enough,” stated Amy Winter, EVP and Head of Programming, Lifetime and LMN. “Our Ripped From the Headlines movies have really struck a chord with our audiences and we are excited to expand our crime offerings with these new unscripted series joining the network. Lifetime is the perfect home for these cautionary, fascinating, and stranger-than-fiction programs.”

Lifetime provided the following descriptions of each of the network’s new summer crime series.

Lifetime's Text Me When You Get Home

#TEXTMEWHENYOUGETHOME
#TextMeWhenYouGetHome became a viral, worldwide movement following the 2021 death of Sarah Everard in the UK. The hashtag sparked global awareness, anger, and a conversation around the vulnerability and lack of safety women feel while in public alone. In this gripping, true-crime docuseries, each episode follows the case of an innocent woman who has been abducted, harmed, or even murdered by someone on what was an otherwise average day in her life.

These stories are told through emotional interviews; accompanied by stylistic recreations, actual texts, phone records, and other digital breadcrumbs that authorities used to solve the case. Unfolding as a whodunnit, all suspects are explored until the actual perpetrator is caught. In several episodes, survivors of these harrowing sagas will be revealed to tell their story, in their own words.

SLEEPING WITH A KILLER
Sleeping with a Killer examines real-life cases where jealousy pushes individuals to do the unthinkable. The docuseries focuses on ordinary people who have tragic endings at the hands of husbands, wives, former friends, and lovers. The 26-episode UK series (formerly known as Green Eyed Killers) is a dramatic look at the events that led up to these life-changing moments and the setbacks that often occur in the cases until final justice can be served.

PHROGGING: HIDER IN MY HOUSE
This stranger-than-fiction true crime thriller explores the phenomenon of phrogging – people secretly living inside someone else’s home. From the man in the attic to the creeper in the crawl space, each episode features two first-hand accounts of survivors sharing the most skin-crawling, twisted, and truly terrifying stories imaginable. Along with interviews and key archive materials, cinematic recreations bring the clues and confrontations to life. This series proves that yes, there may actually be monsters under the bed.

MEET MARRY MURDER
What happens when the person you commit to spending the rest of your life with, winds up taking it instead? Meet Marry Murder reveals the gripping true stories of marriages gone terribly wrong, where an unsuspecting partner dies at the hands of their insidious spouse. Whether driven by rage, jealousy or greed, these spouses commit the most deplorable and common of crimes.

The series takes a deep dive into several cases and uncovers a world of scenarios that end in murder, from a husband who broadcasts his intent to kill his wife on YouTube to a woman driven to commit murder for a life insurance payout and a successful Louisiana attorney slain by the man she met after a car crash brought them together.

‘The Time Traveler’s Wife’ Debuts a Trailer and Announces May Premiere

HBO’s set a May 15, 2022 premiere date for the series adaptation of Audrey Niffenegger’s The Time Traveler’s Wife because we can all use a time-traveling epic love story right about now, am I right? The new trailer sets up the complicated love story between the time traveler, played by Theo James (the Underworld and Divergent franchises), and the titular character, played by Rose Leslie (Game of Thrones).

Theo James plays Henry DeTamble, Rose Leslie is Clare Abshire, Desmin Borges stars as Gomez, and Natasha Lope is Charisse. Steven Moffat (Doctor Who) adapted Niffenegger’s bestselling novel and executive produced the series. Executive producer David Nutter (Game of Thrones) directed. Additional executive producers include Sue Vertue, Joseph E. Iberti, and Hartswood Films’ Brian Minchin.

During the Television Critics Association’s winter press panel, Steven Moffat explained his fascination with time travel and romance. “I think actually I loved the idea of time travel affecting romance when I read this book. When I read this book – and I was working on Doctor Who back then – I said we had to do a Doctor Who story like that, which we did. Which was called ‘The Girl in the Fireplace,’ which Audrey Niffenegger saw on television and wrote into her next book, so I knew she was onto me.

But I think what is brilliant and thrilling about the interaction of time travel and a love story here is it makes the most common phenomenon of a completely happy marriage interesting again. I mean, love stories tend to end at the altar…or love movies do. A romance movie ends at the altar or they start with the divorce. We never do the bit where people are perfectly happy with each other for decades because it seems like an undramatic thing, in a way. By scrambling it all up and by constantly reminding you that love is inextricably linked to loss – which is a cheery thought for you all – you make this very common phenomenon of the happy marriage interesting, thrilling, and full of tension and tragedy, as well as joy and happiness. So that is why. And I do, I do love the time travel story, in general, as my career would suggest,” explained Moffat.

‘Dungeons & Dragons’ Film Adds ‘Honor Among Thieves’ to Its Title

Paramount Pictures is delving into the fantasy tabletop role-playing game (RPG) world with the upcoming feature film adaptation of Hasbro’s incredibly popular Dungeons & Dragons. The studio released a short video announcement revealing the D&D film, which has already wrapped up production, is now officially titled Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. Paramount also confirmed they’re sticking with the March 3, 2023 theatrical release date.

Cast members include Chris Pine (All the Old Knives), Michelle Rodriguez (the Fast and Furious franchise), Regé-Jean Page (Bridgerton), Justice Smith (Detective Pikachu), Sophia Lillis (I Am Not Okay With This), Chloe Coleman (Upload), and Hugh Grant (The Undoing). Game Night filmmakers Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley directed and also wrote the screenplay with Michael Gilio (story by Gilio and Chris McKay).

Jeremy Latcham, Brian Goldner, and Nick Meyer produced, with Jonathan Goldstein, John Francis Daley, Chris Pine, Zev Foreman, Greg Mooradian, and Denis L. Stewart executive producing.

Paramount’s title announcement didn’t include any specific information on the plot.

This isn’t the first time Hollywood’s attempted to adapt D&D into a feature film. Courtney Solomon directed 2000’s disastrous version of the RPG starring Jeremy Irons, Thora Birch, and Marlon Wayans. That film earned a rotten rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with only 10% of the critics awarding it a positive review. The New Line Cinema release grossed just $33 million during its theatrical run and failed to recoup its $45 million budget.

‘New Amsterdam’ Season 4 Episode 17 Preview: “Unfinished Business” Photos

It seems the staff won’t just be looking for their missing colleagues on NBC’s New Amsterdam season four episode 17. The promo teases Helen is in trouble too, but doesn’t give away what’s wrong. Episode 17 – “Unfinished Business” – will air on April 26, 2022.

The cast of season four is led by Ryan Eggold as Medical Director Max Goodwin. Janet Montgomery returns as Dr. Lauren Bloom, Freema Agyeman stars as Dr. Helen Sharpe, Jocko Sims plays Dr. Floyd Reynolds, and Tyler Labine is Dr. Iggy Frome. Michelle Forbes guest stars as Dr. Fuentes.

“Unfinished Business” Plot: The New Amsterdam team continues to deal with the consequences of their big night out. Max and Helen discuss options for their future. Martin finally learns Iggy’s secret. Bloom helps Leyla avoid a life-changing situation. Reynolds and Dr. Malvo define their relationship going forward.

The Season 4 Plot, Courtesy of NBC:

After a turbulent year of sacrifice and hardship, Medical Director Max Goodwin and the team at New Amsterdam begin a well-deserved new chapter in their lives. The opening episode, titled “More Joy,” reflects both the drive of characters and the tone of season four. More joy: How can we find it, and how can we hold on to it?

For Max that means acknowledging and surrendering to his long-simmering feelings towards Dr. Helen Sharpe. While this new relationship brings its own set of challenges, Max continues his optimistic – and quixotic – quest to improve our nation’s healthcare system.

Continuing to navigate their own personal journeys – including Dr. Bloom’s relationship with Dr. Leyla Shinwari, who is now her resident, Dr. Frome’s new career and Dr. Reynolds’ personal entanglements – the doctors will strive to embrace the joy and successes in their lives.

But there is a surprise in store for our heroes. Dr. Veronica Fuentes is joining the New Amsterdam team to help turn around the overburdened and underfunded hospital. Her first order of business will be to tear down every progressive program Max has erected. Max will have his work cut out for him if he is going to outwit this calm, poised and fearless fixer.
