Netflix’s acclaimed dramatic series Ozark has been renewed for a third season. The upcoming season will consist of 10 episodes, however Netflix hasn’t confirmed when fans of the series can expect the third season to premiere.

Season one of Ozark premiered on July 21, 2017. Season two followed on August 31, 2018. The third season is likely to arrive in 2019.

Bill Dubuque and Mark Williams created the drama. Ozark season two was executive produced by series star Jason Bateman, Chris Mundy, Bill Dubuque, and Mark Williams. In addition to starring in and executive producing, Bateman also stepped behind the camera to direct multiple episodes.

Jason Bateman’s co-stars include three-time Oscar nominee Laura Linney (You Can Count on Me, Kinsey, The Savages), Julia Garner (The Americans, Waco) and Janet McTeer (Jessica Jones, Battle Creek).

A Look Back at Season 2:

Ozark continues to follow Marty Byrde and his family as they navigate the murky waters of life within a dangerous drug cartel. With Del out, the crime syndicate sends their ruthless attorney Helen Pierce to town to shake things up just as The Byrdes are finally settling in. Marty and Wendy struggle to balance their family interests amid the escalating dangers presented by their partnerships with the power-hungry Snells, the cartel and their new deputy, Ruth Langmore, whose father Cade has been released from prison. The stakes are even higher than before and The Byrdes soon realize they have to go all in before they can get out.”

The First Season’s Synopsis:

“A Chicago financial advisor, who has been quietly laundering money for a drug kingpin, must quickly uproot his family and move the operation to The Ozarks, after his partner is caught cheating the business. There, he bumps heads with both a local drug dealer whose business he inadvertently interrupts, and a clan of ruffians, led by their 19-year-old niece, who want his money, all the while avoiding the eye of a tenacious FBI agent. He must complete his laundering, to save the life of his family, as they struggle to find their own path in this seemingly foreign way of life.”

‘Riverdale’ Season 3 – KJ Apa Interview on Archie’s Struggles and Relationships

Don’t expect life to get any easier for the high school kids of The CW’s Riverdale in season three. In our roundtable interview at the 2018 New York Comic Con, KJ Apa confirmed Archie Andrews will once again be faced with difficult circumstances as the new season gets underway. However, unlike the past two seasons, Archie will be handling much of what he’s going through on his own.

The CW’s Riverdale season three premieres on October 10, 2018.

Every season they put you guys through such hell that I wonder how these characters survive to the next season.

KJ Apa: “Honestly, you think it was bad last season? I really get the short end of the stick this season – in a good way.”

What does that mean, “in a good way?”

KJ Apa: “It just means I think physically Archie is put to the test. He goes through the wringer. You’ll see; it’s crazy.”

Does he emerge stronger than ever before?

KJ Apa: “Absolutely. I think Archie, we see him on his own a lot this season too, separated from his friends, his family, his dad. He’s seriously put to the test. It’s almost like a battle against himself, almost. But, yeah, he’s definitely going even darker this season.”

How do you think your acting has evolved over the course of Riverdale?

KJ Apa: “I think it evolves as the material that I get is evolving as well. I think this season in particular the material has been amazing for me. I think it’s been really challenging, really physical too which is great for me. I love all the action stuff. I love all the physical scenes.”

Are there a lot of hand-to-hand combat and stunts?

KJ Apa: “Yes. Lots of that this season, lots of fighting, lots of boxing. Every now and then I’m not allowed to do my own stunts. I try and push my way in as much as I can.”

When the season starts off Archie’s in trouble with the law. How long is that going to last into the season? Is there going to be a resolution fairly soon?

KJ Apa: “Yes. Pretty early on there’s a resolution and we see what happens after that first episode when he’s in court for the murder of Cassidy Book. And then from there on it just kind of takes its course and we see what goes on.”

What can you tell us about how Archie going to prison will affect his relationship with the other characters, specifically his dad who he already had a strained relationship with?

KJ Apa: “Yeah, for sure. I think Archie kind of deserting his dad for Hiram caused a little bit of tension between him and his old man. Archie realizes it was a mistake to do that and I think it’s something he’s trying to redeem himself for this season.

But, yeah, there’s not too much with his old man this season. I think you can see in the few scenes that they have together their relationship has changed a lot, very much so from the first seasons. I remember the pilot where he and his dad were having a conversation about the football thing and the music thing, and I feel like the stakes are a lot higher this season. It’s almost like Archie’s becoming a man. When you grow up, and even I’m experiencing this now, your relationship as a young man…your relationship with your father changes as you get older. It’s an interesting thing to play with.”

It feels like the relationships among the four lead characters are really solid. But with Archie going away, how does that change his relationship with Veronica?

KJ Apa: “Their relationship is seriously put to the test, purely just because of the circumstances that Archie is in. I feel like Veronica is going through a whole lot of stuff too where she meets new people. So, yeah, I think the world of Archie might not be a good place this season.”

What do you mean by she meets new people?

KJ Apa: (Smiling) “Exactly that.”

Who would you say he’s leaning on this season? Is there someone he really turns to?

KJ Apa: “I feel like he doesn’t have… Archie, he’s alone for a lot of this. I feel like it’s more him kind of learning about himself. I feel like Archie very much becomes a man during this season. Usually he has his dad around to help him with stuff. The stuff that he’s going through this season he doesn’t have much support around him. He’s isolated.”

Is music still going to play a role in Archie’s life?

KJ Apa: “Yeah, we will. We’re definitely coming back to the music this season.”

Is a typical day of shooting still the same as it was in season one?

KJ Apa: “I think more or less it’s the same. Now that we’re in season three, a lot of the cast – we’ve kind of found our footing now I feel like. The first season is very exciting and we’re all in this bubble of what don’t know what’s going to happen. And then the show comes out and it becomes amazing. The second season was kind of that awkward phase where we’re trying to keep the hype going. And now that clearly we’ve had two successful seasons, season three has been really smooth. A lot smoother than the last two.”

Todd Harthan, Amy Holden Jones, Rob Corn, Antoine Fuqua, David Boorstein, Oly Obst, and Phillip Noyce are the executive producers.

“Amy Holden Jones, Todd Harthan and the amazing team behind The Resident have brilliantly offered viewers the ability to see the medical industry through a different lens,” stated Michael Thorn, President, Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company. “We can’t wait to watch the exceptional cast, as they continue to roam the halls of Chastain Memorial Hospital.”

The Resident Season 2 Plot:

“Season two finds star resident Dr. Conrad Hawkins (Czuchry) continuing to make difficult calls in the best interests of his patients. But, having rekindled a romantic relationship with nurse Nicolette ‘Nic’ Nevins (VanCamp), the two now must face unresolved issues from their past.

Conrad’s father, Marshall Winthrop (Morshower), has taken over as head of Chastain, and comes into direct conflict with the hospital’s newly minted CEO, Dr. Randolph Bell (Greenwood). Meanwhile, Dr. Mina Okafor (Wilson) continues to work with her larger-than-life mentor, Dr. AJ Austin (Warner). However, the skills of new ortho surgeon Dr. Kitt Voss (Leeves) could lead Mina on a different path. First-year resident Dr. Devon Pravesh (Dayal) becomes intrigued by new medical device rep Julian Booth (guest star Jenna Dewan, Step Up), whose presence at the hospital will upend business as usual for everyone there.”

‘Riverdale’ – Lili Reinhart Interview on Season 3, Dark Betty, and Betty’s Relationships

Lili Reinhart joined her Riverdale co-stars KJ Apa, Madchen Amick, and Luke Perry, as well as series creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, for a panel on the show’s third season at the 2018 New York Comic Con. Reinhart also took part in roundtable interviews in which she discussed Betty’s relationships in the upcoming season three.

The CW will kick off Riverdale season three on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at 8pm ET/PT.

I love when Betty goes dark. Are we going to see much more of that in season three?

Lili Reinhart: “Yes. I’m having flashes in my head of what we’ve shot so far. You definitely see…I don’t like to think of her as ‘dark.’ I just like to think of her as really strong and like badass. She’s always strong, but you do see her dark – not evil – but I guess dark – I like to use the word badass – side come out. She’s feisty and she’s a fighter. You do see that a lot.

Betty gets put through a lot this season already and you would think that things would be easier, given season two. Maybe she’d have a break. Things couldn’t get worse. But somehow they do, but she navigates her way out of it.

She’s the strongest character, in my opinion. I’m a little biased. But, she’s so well-written by Roberto. You can tell how much he really cares about her. And, she saves herself. She doesn’t need Jughead to come save her from situations or Veronica. And although she has those people in her life and they’re wonderful, Betty really just is a heroine. She saves herself at the end of the day, which is amazing to play. Just an honor, actually. But, yeah, you will see her sort of badassery.”

What can you say about the relationship between Betty and Polly?

Lili Reinhart: “Betty and Polly, you haven’t really seen a loving, sisterly relationship from them and you’re not going to. I think that ship has sailed. I think that Polly is brainwashed from the cult farm that she’s in. Betty thinks it’s a cult but they say otherwise, Alice and Polly. But I think Polly’s far gone. I think that she’s quite self-righteous and thinks that Betty’s on the wrong path, needs to bring her to the good side. ‘Join the farm. Everything’s great here.’ It’s like this oasis, but Betty looks at it as a cult that brainwashes you.

It’s like a big mystery to Betty. She’s trying to get to the bottom of who are these people that are making my family act so strange. What’s the motive here? What’s going on behind closed doors? But, yeah, Betty and Polly are very much at odds. You see it in episode one, actually, how against each other they are which is sad. I don’t think you’re ever going to see that loving relationship between the two of them.”

Since there’s so much turmoil in Betty’s life, is it safe to say she and Jughead will be stable this season?

Lili Reinhart: “I mean, all of the core four are dealing with their own sh*t, basically. They’re each dealing with something so intense on their own, so you know it does test them when they each have something so intense going on in their lives. Obviously, that is going to cause some distress.

But as of right now, Betty and Jughead are still on the same side. They still love each other. They’re still together, but there are definitely challenges ahead especially when I think Gladys, Jughead’s mom, were to move back to Riverdale. I think that would cause a shift in a power (dynamic).”

How much of yourself do you bring into the role?

Lili Reinhart: “I mean, I see such a clear difference between myself and Betty. It’s hard to explain fully. But, it’s like playing a nicer, more badass, more put together version of myself, basically is what Betty is. Also, my dad’s not a serial killer which is good. And, also, I have a great relationship with my family and Betty is always at odds with hers which is sad.

I mean, as much as necessary. I don’t go home at the end of the day and keep my ponytail in.”

How do you prepare?

Lili Reinhart: “Well, it’s season three and I know her so well now. Honestly, I’m fortunate enough that it just kind of comes naturally at this point. I know who this girl is and I know what she cares about. If it’s an emotional scene, it usually comes pretty easily because I care about Betty so much that whatever she’s going through I feel for her. So, it’s kind of like I feel bad for her when this happens. I feel like I want to help her when this happens. It’s kind of like my real emotions go in there. That’s where the sadness comes from when there’s an emotional scene. But, other than that, I think I keep a pretty good divide between myself and the character. If I didn’t, I would go crazy.”

‘The Flash’ Season 5 Episode 1 Recap and Review: “Nora”

The Flash Season 5 Episode 1 Recap

“These computers are even slower than the ones at The Flash museum,” says Nora (Jessica Parker Kennedy). “Did you say Flash museum?” asks Cisco (Carlos Valdes). “Yeah, studied everything,” replies Nora who’s looking to Team Flash to help her get back to the future (or so she says) in the season five premiere of The CW’s superhero series, The Flash.

Season five episode one begins with Nora’s voice-over explaining she’s from the future, 30 years to be exact. She protects Central City the way her dad used to when he was The Flash. Her superhero name is XS, a nickname her mom gave her when she was young and did everything in excess.

Back at Joe’s house, Nora reveals her true identity to the gang. She tells everyone that when she helped Barry destroy the satellite something went wrong and now she can’t access the Speed Force to get back to her own time. Barry (Grant Gustin) is uneasy, not sure whether to believe she’s really his and Iris’ daughter.

Ralph (Hartley Sawyer) suddenly realizes time travel is possible, and Cisco is getting too drunk to really follow along.

Barry meets up with Captain David Singh (Patrick Sabongui) and is reinstated as Central City’s CSI. Singh warns Barry they never replaced him while he was gone so he has plenty of cases to get through.

Barry enters his office to find boxes of evidence. He begins to go through them when Nora speeds in asking what he’s doing. Barry tells her he wants her to stay at S.T.A.R. Labs, but she claims she can help him because she’s a CSI in the future – just like him.

Barry hears on the police scanner about a meta attack and realizes he doesn’t have a suit to use since his was destroyed when he destroyed the satellite. Nora surprises him with his very first suit from season one, explaining she took it from the museum. Barry tells Nora to stay put at the precinct and speeds off.

The Flash arrives to find a meta stealing money from an armored car and two guards tied up. Just as The Flash is about to take the meta down, Nora shows up in her XS outfit to help. That distracts Barry long enough for the meta, named Gridlock, to power punch The Flash through the sky and into the bay. Nora speeds over to her father who’s, justifiably, not happy with her at all.

Back at S.T.A.R. Labs, Nora apologizes profusely and is worried Barry’s mad at her or, even worse, disappointed in her. Barry and Iris calm her down and confirm getting her back to her own time is priority number one. Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) and Cisco are going to work on the Tachyon device to help Nora get fast enough to return home.

Ralph comes in, excited to be revealing what he thinks is a huge announcement. He believes that since time travel is possible multiple earths exist too. His joy in the discovery fades as he realizes everyone already knows this. Caitlin asks him what he thought they meant when they said Harry’s from Earth-2. Ralph replies, “I thought you meant Earth, too.”

Iris takes Nora for coffee to do some mother-daughter bonding and to try to find out what their future is like. Nora seems uncomfortable and doesn’t want to mess up the timeline any more than she already has. (The thought of making Barry upset or disappointed in her seems to be a big concern.)

Iris discovers Nora is a CSI like Barry and that she and Nora are together as mother and daughter. Nora quickly suggests she should go check on Cisco and Caitlin to see if they need any help. It’s clear Nora doesn’t want to spend time with Iris.

Back at S.T.A.R. Labs, Nora wears the new Tachyon that should help her get enough speed, with the assistance of her dad, to travel back in time. So, father and daughter speedsters race off on the inside training track in an attempt to increase her speed.

Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale) comes back from visiting the Legends team with some news. Nora has negative Tachyons in her system and that’s why the Speed Force is rejecting her entry. Unfortunately, Barry and Nora find this out the hard way by being thrown back by the Speed Force when it opens.

Barry looks to Caitlin and Cisco to find a way to get the negative tachyons out or replaced. Iris asks to speak with Barry privately, wanting to know why he’s so determined to send Nora back. Barry says he’s afraid of the timeline being messed with, but Iris calls him out on that saying he changed the timeline himself with Flashpoint and also when he was trying to save her from Savitar.

Barry finally admits he fears they’re going to miss all the “firsts” they are supposed to have with Nora. He always wanted a family but now his whole life is out of order. He was hoping that having a family would be the one normal thing in his life.

Iris assures him having Nora here is special, that he’ll be a great dad, and that they will have all the firsts. As Iris is talking to Barry, something dawns on him and he tells her he needs to go check on something.

Caitlin, Cisco, and Ralph go to a scene of another crime committed by Gridlock but no one will tell them anything. Ralph suggests Killer Frost should appear and help encourage the silent masses to talk. Caitlin informs Ralph that Frost has been gone since The Thinker took over Ralph’s body and she hasn’t been able to bring her back.

Ralph apologizes and asks if there are any clues. Caitlin tells him about her vision with Vibe and how Frost was with her since she was a small child and that in the image her dad was also there. Ralph suggests talking to him but Caitlin tells Ralph her father’s dead. After a little more work, Caitlin and Cisco discover Gridlock gets stronger the more energy he encounters.

Barry finds Nora holding the first group picture of original Team Flash (Cisco, Caitlin, Barry and Dr. Wells aka Eobard Thawne). “What happens to me in the future?” he asks after realizing when she talked about living with Iris she didn’t mention him. Nora takes Barry to the time vault and shows him the newspaper headline about The Flash going missing in 2024. 25 years later he’s still gone.

“You never come back,” says Nora. She reveals she was born a few years before he disappeared. She has no memory of her father. Barry then realizes Nora isn’t stuck here; she came back to meet him. She has been injecting herself with negative tachyons so she wouldn’t be able to go back to the future. Barry asks her why and she admits she knew he would send her back right away. She wanted to stay for a while and get to know her father.

Cisco and Caitlin page Barry back to the main control room. It seems Gridlock, who they discover gets stronger with every energy he comes across, is on board a plane and plans on crashing it. Barry thinks that if he, Kid Flash, and XS all phase together on the plane they should be able to get the plane to phase with them through buildings. They should be able to safely crash land it on the bay.

Nora confesses she doesn’t know how to phase, and Barry assures her he’ll walk her thought it. Barry realizes he doesn’t have a suit and Nora gives him a Flash ring with a brand new suit inside it. Both Barry and Cisco are impressed with the technology and with the suit.

Gridlock causes one of the plane’s engines to fail. Barry, Kid Flash, and XS start running to pick up speed and Cisco heads to the rooftop to Vibe a breach to get them on the plane. The three speedsters go through the portal and end up on the out-of-control plane right after it loses its other engine.

Kid Flash knocks out Gridlock and places the power-reducing cuffs on him. Kid Flash and Barry start phasing while telling the passengers to stay calm. Nora shouts to Barry that she can’t do it. In a great scene and a homage to the first season (still the series’ best), Barry recites the speech Wells aka Thawne gave him the first time he had to phase, and it does the trick. Nora finds the ability and strength to phase with The Flash and Kid Flash, safely phasing the entire plane through a building and a bridge and safely bringing the plane down on the bay.

Back at S.T.A.R. Labs, Barry has a change of heart and decides to let Nora stay for a while. He uses the excuse that they should “make sure her powers are all working correctly.” In the meantime, Nora says she’ll crash in the lounge at S.T.A.R Labs. “What lounge?” asks Cisco. Nora takes them to the secret hideout and the team finds Joe (Jesse L. Martin) already there. It seems Joe has been using the lounge as his little nap cave since day one.

Ralph approaches Caitlin and Cisco about her dad. He reveals he had a friend look into her dad’s death certificate…and it’s a fake. Caitlin’s father is alive!

That night, Barry offers to take Nora out for ice cream as a father-daughter outing which she is thrilled by. As the two speedsters speed off to their favorite ice cream place, Nora’s voice-over picks up the story. She declares she’ll find a way to stop her dad from disappearing.

The episode ends with the now powerless Gridlock being transported to Iron Heights. The convoy’s stopped and he hears screaming outside the armored truck. The doors open and a cloaked figure stands there. The cloaked figure pulls out a lightning blade and walks towards Gridlock, declaring he’s going to kill him.

The Flash Season 5 Episode 1 Review:

Fast, funny, and jam-packed with information, season five episode one of The Flash is perhaps the strongest season premiere since the season one pilot. Jessica Parker Kennedy is perfect as Nora, Barry and Iris’ daughter from the future who absolutely adores her dad and has some major issues with her mom. Kennedy plays Nora with enthusiasm and energy as well as being just a little geeky the way Grant sometimes portrays Barry. She’s a welcome, fresh addition to what truly is the best ensemble cast on television.

The episode also paid homage to the first season with some very sweet and powerful moments, such as Nora holding the very first Team Flash photo and how Barry teaches Nora how to phase using the same great speech Dr. Wells aka Eobard Thawne used to teach Barry.

With Nora determined to save her father from his fate and a new deadly villain about to wreak havoc on Central City, Team Flash is sure to have their speedy hands full.

GRADE: B+

‘The Christmas Chronicles’ Teaser Trailer Finds Kurt Russell in Santa Claus Mode

In the first teaser trailer from The Christmas Chronicles, we’re told Christmas is in trouble. We also learn that billboards put on 80 pounds as Kurt Russell’s Santa Claus is not a “right jolly old elf.” However, this Santa tale does have elves, flying reindeer, and apparently there’s a naughty list.

Commenting on the holiday story, director Clay Kaytis said, “No one is better suited than Kurt Russell to bring our version of a rugged, charismatic, and hilarious Santa Claus to life. From our first meeting, he completely threw himself into this iconic role – and grew an impressive beard in the process. It has been a dream come true to work with Kurt in creating what I believe will be the new definition of Santa Claus for generations to come.”

In addition to Kurt Russell, the cast includes Judah Lewis as Teddy Pierce and Darby Camp as Kate. Matt Lieberman wrote the script and Chris Columbus, Mark Radcliffe, and Michael Barnathan produced.

“Kurt is the definitive Santa Claus,” said producer Chris Columbus. “Charismatic, tough when needed with a wicked sense of humor. We’re really excited for audiences to see his performance onscreen and hope The Christmas Chronicles becomes a timeless classic.”

The Christmas Chronicles will premiere on November 22, 2018.

The Plot:

The Christmas Chronicles, a holiday adventure from producer Chris Columbus (Home Alone, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone) and director Clay Kaytis (The Angry Birds Movie), tells the story of sister and brother, Kate (Camp) and Teddy Pierce (Lewis), whose Christmas Eve plan to catch Santa Claus (Kurt Russell) on camera turns into an unexpected journey that most kids could only dream about. After staking out Santa’s arrival, they sneak into his sleigh, cause it to crash and nearly derail Christmas. As their wild night unfolds, Kate and Teddy work together with Santa – as you’ve never seen him before – and his loyal Elves to save Christmas before it’s too late.”

Paramount Pictures is treating horror fans to the first official poster from Pet Sematary along with the first photos. The first look at the upcoming film arrived just a day prior to the planned release of the 2019 horror movie’s official trailer.

Set to open in theaters on April 5, 2019, Pet Sematary is based on the bestselling book by Stephen King. King’s terrifying novel about a burial ground that brings pets (and people) back to life was originally made into a feature film in 1989. That version was directed by Mary Lambert, with King penning the script. The 1989 adaptation starred Denise Crosby, Dale Midkiff, Fred Gwynne, Brad Greenquist, and Blaze Berdahl.

The 2019 version stars Jason Clarke as Louis Creed, Amy Seimetz as Rachel Creed, and John Lithgow as Jud Crandall. The cast also includes Hugo and Lucas Lavoie as Gage Creed, Jete Laurence as Ellie Creed, and Obssa Ahmed as Victor Pascow.

Scream: The TV Series‘ Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer directed from a script by Jeff Buhler (Nightflyers). Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Steven Schneider, and Mark Vahradian produced, with Mark Moran executive producing.

The Pet Sematary Plot:

Based on the seminal horror novel by Stephen King, Pet Sematary follows Dr. Louis Creed (Clarke), who, after relocating with his wife Rachel (Seimetz) and their two young children from Boston to rural Maine, discovers a mysterious burial ground hidden deep in the woods near the family’s new home. When tragedy strikes, Louis turns to his unusual neighbor, Jud Crandall (Lithgow), setting off a perilous chain reaction that unleashes an unfathomable evil with horrific consequences.

‘The Outpost’ and ‘Burden of Truth’ Will Return in 2019

The CW’s firming up its 2019 summer primetime lineup, announcing their slate of 2018 summer shows will return next year. The fantasy adventure series The Outpost is confirmed to return for a second season along with Kristin Kreuk’s dramatic series Burden of Truth.

The network has also renewed Penn & Teller: Fool Us, Whose Line Is It Anyway?, and Masters of Illusion for the summer of 2019. In addition, The CW has picked up the British dramatic series Bulletproof and will add it to their schedule next summer.

Details on The CW’s Summer 2019 Lineup:

Bulletproof follows two undercover cops, Bishop (Noel Clarke) and Pike (Ashley Walters) as they chase down hardened criminals in London’s East End. But the series is more than high-octane action and thrilling cases. On the surface Bishop and Pike have a lot in common, they are cool, smart and unapologetically street-wise and tough. But even more, they share a deep, fraternal relationship and are always there for each other. However, they come from very different backgrounds and their personal motivations and emotional lives outside the police force differ as a result.

Pike is an aspirational family man, the son of a decorated police officer who is determined to follow in his father’s footsteps, but not be in his shadow. Meanwhile, Bishop grew up in care homes and on the streets, and never knew his father. Despite these differences Bishop and Pike are bonded by the same moral code and work brilliantly well together even when the chemistry between them looks set to explode. Full of grit and sometimes gloss, Bulletproof is stylish and funny with entertaining, riveting criminal cases in each episode. At its heart though it is a series about the fascinating relationships between fathers and sons, as well as between best friends.

Burden of Truth is a serialized investigative drama about life-altering legal cases, the helpless plaintiffs searching for answers, and the boots-on-the-ground lawyers fighting incredible odds to deliver justice.

The Outpost follows Talon (Jessica Green), the lone survivor of a race called the “Blackbloods.” In a lawless fortress on the edge of the civilized world, Talon must learn to master her supernatural powers, and ally with a Queen who has been in hiding to defend the world against a fanatical religious dictator.

Six of History’s current shows have earned renewal orders, plus the network’s just greenlit five new nonfiction series. Among the renewal orders is an expanded one for The Curse of Oak Island, the network’s top rated non-fiction series.

According to the network, The Curse of Oak Island will return for a 30 hour sixth season. Also picking up up renewals are The Curse of Civil War Gold, Truck Night in America, Alone, Mountain Men, and Swamp People. The five new shows which have just been greenlit include a competition series featuring master butchers and a show featuring Army veterans who are experts at historical military weaponry.

“History is committed to delivering entertaining, compelling and informative programming and the solid performances of our new nonfiction launches this year prove this content is resonating with our loyal audience,” stated Eli Lehrer, Executive Vice President of Programming, HISTORY. “Yamashita’s Gold, Knight Fight, Brothers in Arms and American Butcher are the perfect companions to our existing slate of signature hit series, as we continue to invest in quality series rooted in history that our audiences trust.”

History’s Just-Announced Renewals:

The Curse of Oak Island Season Six – Premieres Tuesday, November 13 at 9PM ET/PT
The network’s #1 series across all key demographics documents brothers Rick and Marty Lagina as they pursue their lifelong dream of solving the 223-year Oak Island mystery. For over two centuries, teams of searchers, including Franklin D. Roosevelt, have attempted to crack the code that will unearth the treasure believed to be buried on the small island off the coast of Nova Scotia. Armed with the knowledge of those that came before them, the muscle of heavy machinery and decades of engineering know-how, the Lagina’s and their partners may be closer than anyone in history to finding the treasure that has so far claimed the lives of six men.

The Curse of Civil War Gold Season Two
The series follows Kevin Dykstra, who has been on an eight-year quest to solve the mystery of what happened to the lost confederate gold of the Civil War. With compelling evidence and now the support of Marty Lagina, Dykstra and his team embark on an action-packed hunt in an effort to finally decipher what could be one of the greatest conspiracies in American history.

Truck Night in America Season Two
It’s truck versus terrain, as truck owners from across the United States compete in grueling challenges that test their ingenuity and driving ability. With the assistance of four experts, owners compete for the chance to drive the toughest, most arduous truck obstacle course ever built, and drive away with a $10,000 prize.

Alone Season Six
Separated by miles and completely isolated, ten survivalists attempt the boldest survival experiment on Alone. Season six will introduce a new set of men and women to face brutally freezing conditions in the most punishing environment yet – deep in the Canadian Arctic. In this new location, at the edge of the Arctic Circle, they must build their own shelters, hunt their own food, and overcome numerous deadly obstacles – such as a thriving grizzly and black bear population, territorial moose, packs of wolves and the increased risk of freezing – if they want to be the last person standing.

With only a small rucksack of tools, enough camera gear to self-document their experiences and a cash prize of $500,000 on the line, season six will bring higher stakes, impressive levels of ingenuity and a greater desire to succeed than ever before. No camera crew. No gimmicks.

Swamp People Season 10
In the bayous and swamplands of America’s southern heartland dwell a group of people that exist on the fringes of society. Their distinct culture has roots in the early days of America’s expansion westward. The descendants of moonshiners, immigrant railroad workers and early settlers, the swamp people have inherited a legacy of self-reliance and anti-establishment values that make them true American originals, hidden from the view of the mainstream. As a new alligator-hunting season begins, these individuals once again set out to make a living and preserve their way of life.

Mountain Men Season Eight
This season the stakes skyrocket for the men and women of the mountains as they all face major turning points in pursuit of their proud and independent way of life. Plus, one of the series most beloved characters says a final goodbye as he heads off to conquer new uncharted lands.

New Nonfiction Series:

Brothers in Arms – Premieres Tuesday, November 20 at 10PM ET/PT
With almost twenty years of military and law enforcement experience between them, Rocco Vargas and Eli Cuevas are about to combine their talents and embark on a new adventure. Vargas and Cuevas are the new owners of Banditos Armory in the historic town of Ogden, UT. Their goal is simple, to take their expertise and passion and become the best one-stop shop for all things military. From fixing and testing a Cold War Russian tank, one of only a few in America, to solving the mystery of an unidentified Japanese WW2 contraption that Allied troops had never seen before – and didn’t know how to fire.

There’s little that the team at Banditos won’t do to investigate, restore, build, and test the most innovative, iconic machines in military history. No challenge or question is too big for Vargas and Cuevas, whether they’re working with military historians and veterans, opening their door to inquiries from avid customers, or even seeking answers to burning questions of their own.

Knight Fight – Premieres Wednesday, November 28 at 10PM ET/PT
Live by the sword, die by the sword: knights were some of history’s most brutal warriors. With armor of steel and a will of iron, they took part in some of the bloodiest battles ever fought. These warriors were so dedicated that between bloody battles, they would challenge one another to extreme trials of combat. Today, the blood sport lives on in the form of the full-contact Armored Combat League — often referred to as “Medieval MMA” or “Knight Fight Club”. Rooted in historical traditions, these modern-day warriors battle in over eighty pounds of plated armor with real steel weapons.

Now, for the first time, these modern knights are set to wage war in this eight-episode series. Each episode will feature six fighters who will customize era-specific armor and weaponry and engage in a series of full-contact battles to see who has the skill and the strength to win the ultimate Knight Fight.

Yamashita’s Gold (working title)
In the closing months of WWII, legend has it that Japanese soldiers – led by General Yamashita, along with Allied POWs – constructed secret tunnels underground in dozens of locations and buried treasure worth hundreds of billions of dollars. Yamashita had the entrances blown up, trapping the soldiers inside to keep his secret. It’s a grand mystery that involves a secret cadre of princes called the Golden Lily, booby-trapped tunnels marked by ancient Japanese symbols, and real-life characters like Douglas MacArthur, Harry Truman, Winston Churchill and FDR.

One Filipino farmer witnessed the operation and for the first time, he has entrusted his secrets to a group of dedicated investigators and engineers who are using the latest technology to search for the treasure – and the truth.

American Butcher

Throughout history, the skilled craft of the butcher has been a lynchpin to survival. In early civilizations when foodborne diseases were claiming lives, it was the butcher with their sharp tools and sharper skills who kept death at bay – eventually becoming a fixture in every town across America. Today, there are thousands of people who cut meat but only a select few with the skills and expertise to be considered a “Master Butcher.”

Now, for the first time comes an extreme competition series where the best-in-class butchers battle each other in a showdown designed to put their skills, strategy and technique to the ultimate test. With knives drawn and machines at the ready, these Master Butchers will carve their way through painstaking challenges, use their expert knowledge to adapt to every historical twist, and reveal the fascinating secrets of the butcher’s world.

Ax Men Reborn (working title)
The logging families of the Pacific Northwest have been torn apart since the long-running series Ax Men. Untimely deaths and a changing economic landscape have threatened family businesses. For these new generation of loggers, now is the time to start wielding the ax as the timber industry is on the upswing again and the old guard is looking for redemption.
