The official trailer for Paramount+’s Criminal Minds: Evolution reveals the team is on the hunt for not just a single serial killer but a whole group of killers who might be working together. The two-minute trailer dropped three weeks ahead of the Criminal Minds revival’s Thanksgiving Day premiere.
The 10-episode season stars returning Criminal Minds cast members Joe Mantegna as David Rossi, A.J. Cook as Jennifer JJ Jareau, Kirsten Vangsness as Penelope Garcia, Aisha Tyler as Dr. Tara Lewis, Adam Rodriguez as Luke Alvez, and Paget Brewster as Emily Prentiss. The season will also feature Zach Gilford in a season-long guest starring arc as Elias Voit.
Criminal Minds‘ Erica Messer writes, executive produces, and serves as showrunner. Writers Breen Frazier and Chris Barbour executive produce as well as Mark Gordon and director Glenn Kershaw.
The season will kick off with the premiere of two episodes on Thursday, November 24, 2022 on Paramount+. The first episode will also screen on CBS on Nov. 24th at 10pm ET/PT.
New episodes will arrive on Paramount+ on Thursdays through December 15th. After taking a break for the winter holidays, the series will return on January 12, 2023.

In Criminal Minds: Evolution, the FBI’s elite team of criminal profilers come up against their greatest threat yet, an UnSub who has used the pandemic to build a network of other serial killers. As the world opens back up and the network goes operational, the team must hunt them down, one murder at a time.
Criminal Minds: Evolution will continue and expand the beloved franchise for streaming audiences, blending serialized elements into the series’ format. This season continues CBS’ Criminal Minds series, which ran from 2005-2020 and followed the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit, the best of the best who profiled the worst of the worst.
The first half of the final season of Netflix’s Manifest concludes with season four episode 10, “Inversion Illusion.” The episode opens with the disclosure that it was Angelina who knocked out Eagan and stole the omega sapphire.
Michaela (Melissa Roxburgh) sees the ash fall as she wakes in bed next to Zeke (Matt Long), and she confesses she’s overwhelmed when she thinks about the fate of the entire world – not just the 828ers – rests in their hands. Zeke says they’ll do whatever they have to do.
Cal’s condition has dramatically deteriorated, and everyone makes a point of filling him in on what’s happening. Cal (Ty Doran) knows what’s going on, and he reminds them they all have to keep trying. He thinks it’s possible the sapphire can save him, so they need to just keep fighting.
Over at the Bird’s Nest, Saanvi (Parveen Kaur) is still determined to try and figure out a way to save Cal. Saving the rest of the world has to wait.
Drea shows the Registry’s newest employee, Jared (J.R. Ramirez), to his desk. He doesn’t have time to settle in when he receives a text saying Eagan’s awake at the hospital.
Before Michaela takes off to join Jared at the hospital, she thanks Zeke for setting up family photos near Cal’s bed. One of her and Evie brings tears to her eyes; she continues to blame herself for Evie’s death.
Ben (Josh Dallas) is hard at work trying to find the omega sapphire when he hears Grace. She appears behind him in the attic, and he cries when she says she misses him. He claims to be broken without her and begs to know what to do to help Cal.
“I’ll tell you, but you need to bring Eden to me,” says Grace. She fades away as Ben tries to figure out what just happened.
Zeke watches over Cal as he sleeps, and Ben tells him about his Calling with Grace. They both assume Ben needs to bring Eden to Grace’s grave. Maybe that’s why Eden said she wanted to see her mommy this morning.
Zeke will continue to watch Cal and he’ll alert Ben if his condition changes.
Eagan tells Jared and Michaela that Angelina stole the sapphire. He has no idea where she is.
Michaela sees a pamphlet in Eagan’s backpack, and it brings up a memory of one like it with bloody fingerprints. He stole it from Noelle and Michaela has a Calling of a faceless angel figure reaching a skeletal hand toward her and shattering like glass inches from her face.
The first page of the pamphlet can be interpreted to be about Angelina and her guardian angel, Eden.
Zeke’s determined to make Cal’s day special and when he finally wakes up, Zeke’s got a video of Jeter’s last game playing. He’s also prepared baseball stadium treats and has foam fingers and baseball caps for them both. Cal can’t eat and Zeke explains the food’s to throw at the TV, not to consume.
Ben and Eden stand in front of Grace’s grave and Ben prays for her to show up. Grace asks him to let Eden return to Angelina because Eden loves her. Suddenly Ben realizes Grace isn’t there and that Angelina’s using this to distract him while she grabs Eden.
Angelina pulls out a gun and Ben proposes a different solution: let Eden choose who she wants to stay with. Eden’s torn between the adults but ultimately goes with her daddy.
Ben grabs her and makes a run for it as Angelina shoots. She misses, and Ben’s about to get into his car when Angelina picks up the omega sapphire and screams. Every single 828er is briefly overcome with intense pain.
Ben returns home and holds a family meeting, revealing Angelina was able to send him a fake Calling featuring Grace. If they can’t find her, then the Lifeboat is sunk.
Michaela thinks that maybe the figure that shattered like glass was a clue to Angelina’s whereabouts. Olive reveals she helped Angelina with this same Calling years ago when Angelina thought an angel was chasing her.
Olive knows where Angelina is, and Cal begs Ben to go with Michaela to recover the sapphire. Zeke once again pulls babysitting duty.
TJ (Garrett Wareing) arrives with the ancient papyrus, and they compare it to the photo from the masonic temple basement. Olive points out the papyrus doesn’t have a hole where the sapphire was hidden, and that sapphire is probably the key to saving humanity.
TJ thinks it’s possible the papyrus was created with a special ink that faded away over time. They need an infrared filter to see if there’s something their naked eyes aren’t picking up.
Back at the Bird’s Nest, Saanvi informs Vance that Angelina has the ability to create a false Calling. No one will be able to tell if a Calling is real now until they get the omega sapphire back.
Zeke’s continuing to try and fulfill Cal’s bucket list and has found a link to a virtual tour of the Louvre. Cal’s not up for it and instead suggests Monopoly. (They used to play the game years ago and it brings up fond memories.)
Zeke offers to take away Cal’s fear and help him feel better, but Cal won’t let him. He knows how using his powers affects Zeke.
Night’s fallen by the time Ben and Michaela make it to Angelina’s old school. Stained glass windows glow and when they enter, the place is full of lava and flames. Angelina’s standing in front of a window featuring the faceless angel figure that Michaela saw in her Calling. Angelina now believes the figure wasn’t telling her to find the angel; it was telling her she is the angel.
Michaela holds Angelina at gunpoint and tells her it’s over. Angelina’s impressed with her own powers and believes she’s an angel above punishment. She insists she’s an archangel sent to wreak vengeance on the evil.
Ben contradicts her and says she’s just a sad, lonely person waiting for justice like the rest of them. Angelina quotes scripture and insists no one has suffered more than her. Michaela becomes enraged and is about to shoot her when Angelina forces her to see Evie. Evie’s blaming Michaela for her death as Ben tries to convince his sister no one’s there and this is all Angelina’s doing.
Evie forces Michaela to drop the gun in the lava while nearby innocent students and teachers are huddled in fear.
While this is happening, Saanvi notices Cal’s scar sample is glowing in the refrigerator. Saanvi says she’s seen this before and thinks it’s sapphire.
Olive and TJ take a photo with an infrared filter and print the picture. Now they can see the sapphire surrounded by dots on the papyrus. TJ places a glass over the photo and highlights each dot. They place the glass over the original papyrus and connect the dots. What emerges is Draco, the dragon constellation.
The tail of the dragon touches Maat’s scale.
Cal’s awake and thinks his scar is moving and even Zeke can see it’s true. The scar lights up as Cal realizes he is the dragon, just like Henry said.
Cal and Angelina are pulled into a Calling where they’re the only ones on Flight 828. Angelina can’t believe he pulled her into a Calling and Cal demands she stop what she’s doing. She’s able to break free of his control by squeezing the sapphire and causing Cal pain.
Ben and Michaela realize Angelina’s in a Calling and work on freeing the trapped people by setting a pew across the lava.
Angelina and Cal continue to battle it out in the Calling, and Angelina plays dirty by making Grace appear. Grace tells her son to let go so they can be together and Cal slowly walks toward his mom. She holds his face as he explains there’s more for him to do – he can’t go with her.
Grace strokes his head and tells him to rest. Cal sinks to his knees and says he’s ready as she tells him to let go.
In the real world, it appears that Cal is close to death.
The Registry issues a new order that says all 828ers will be taken into custody immediately. (That’s in response to all the 828ers experiencing pain at the same time.)
Cal rises to his feet in the Calling, remembering that his mother never once told him to stop fighting. This isn’t his mom.
He walks through Grace and shows no fear as he grabs ahold of Angelina’s hand that’s holding the sapphire.
In the real world, the sapphire explodes in Angelina’s hand.
The glow in Cal’s petri dish fades as the Registry arrives to shut down the Bird’s Nest. Saanvi and Vance try and destroy everything before they’re taken into custody.
Cal’s weak and barely holding on when he wakes. He asks Zeke to call everyone because it is time.
Zeke heads to the attic and hears Olive and TJ trying to figure out what to do next. There’s a sapphire inside of a dragon hovering over Maat’s scales but why? Olive thinks if a dragon gets touched by a sapphire it could tip the scales and everyone can survive. Olive knows Cal’s the dragon and he can save all of them.
But someone needs to save Cal.
Zeke remembers all of the times he and Cal shared special moments, and that he promised Cal he’d always be with him.
Michaela and Ben get everybody out of the school, and then Ben goes back in to stop Angelina.
Inside, she’s busy collecting the scattered shards of the sapphire and Ben orders her to stop. She won’t and instead warns him Cal’s home dying right now while he’s here with her.
Ben thinks she’s lying but leaps away from her over the lava anyway. Seconds later, the angel without a face stained glass falls on Angelina, shattering and knocking her out.
Zeke sits on Cal’s bed and with tears in his eyes, he takes Cal’s hand in his own. He calls Michaela as he holds Cal’s hand and tells her they were always meant to be together. He won’t be there when she gets home and knows he was given a second chance at life because of her. He recalls feeling her in every cell of his body the first time they touched.
“You’re my breath and my blood and my soul,” says Zeke, adding, “You let me know what it means to be truly alive.”
He believes she allowed him to have a second chance to make up for the pain he caused.
As he talks, it’s apparent he’s absorbing Cal’s cancer. Michaela asks him to wait but he can’t or else Cal will die.
Ben exits the building with the news Angelina’s gone.
Meanwhile, Gupta is revealed as the mole who told the Registry where the Bird’s Nest is located and what they’re working on.
Angelina emerges from the rubble and tries to pick up a piece of sapphire. She reaches into the lava and her arm’s on fire. However, the piece of sapphire has embedded itself in her palm.
The 828ers are forced into a tiny cage in the Registry.
Michaela and Ben rush home and Cal is asleep but fine. Zeke’s slumped on the floor by Cal’s bed, and Michaela begs him to stay with her. He tells her it’s okay and he’ll see her again under the stars.
Zeke dies as she pulls him into her chest.
Cal wakes just as Zeke dies.
Angelina walks slowly away from the school reciting a prayer and opening up rivers of lava that spread out from the school.
Ben accompanies Cal to see Alex and the doctor delivers devastating news as Netflix’s Manifest season four episode nine opens. Cal’s body isn’t responding to treatment and there’s nothing left for them to try to combat the disease.
Ben (Josh Dallas) refuses to give up even though Alex thinks Cal has days rather than months or even weeks left to live. Saanvi (Parveen Kaur) agrees Alex did everything she could, and at this point, the goal is to keep Cal as comfortable as possible.
“You should let the family know because you’re going to need each other,” says Saanvi.
Cal (Ty Doran) wants to keep it quiet for now and let Michaela and Zeke have the celebration they deserve without everyone thinking he’s going to die.
Michaela (Melissa Roxburgh) and Zeke (Matt Long) are cooking when Jared arrives conflicted about the Registry job. Michaela believes Jared should take the job, and Zeke invites him to stay to help celebrate their third anniversary.
That evening they have a lovely celebration with the family, plus Saanvi and Jared. Cal’s looking like death warmed over, but he tries to keep up appearances and even asks for a little champagne. Ben toasts his sister (his rock) and Zeke (Mick’s rock and sometimes Olive’s rock) and Cal cuts him off, saying they both rock. Ben cheers them for showing them how to live for today and how to love.
Saanvi and Jared offer their own toasts to the happy couple, and Jared even says the best man won. Michaela and Zeke toast Cal for bringing them together as a couple.
Suddenly, the 828ers experience a Calling in which they’re on the plane during extreme turbulence. When it ends, the 828ers realize Olive (Luna Blaise), Jared, and Zeke were also on the plane in the Calling.
Saanvi describes it as feeling foreboding and Michaela believes they’re running out of time.
Saanvi and Michaela also saw the stowaway, Thomas, at the back of the plane.
Party over, they decide it’s time to examine the passenger boards for clues. Cal gets dizzy when he stands and Ben stays with him while Olive, Michaela, and Saanvi examine the boards. They believe Thomas is living off the grid after his boyfriend, Leo, went missing.
The compass starts spinning and then stops, and they assume it’s leading them to Thomas.
Cal refuses pain meds because he wants to work on the Calling. He recalls a seat light coming on at the end of the Calling and Ben discovers that was Marko’s seat. Cal believes he needs to see Marko right now, but Ben refuses to let him leave. Instead, Jared and Zeke come up with a plan to bring Marko to the house.
Eagan acts like he’s volunteering at the shelter but is actually trying to figure out the omega sapphire’s location. He and Kenroy are working in the kitchen, and Eagan figures out the guy’s name isn’t Kenroy when he fails to respond to his name.
Kenroy follows Eagan into a restricted area, certain he’s up to no good. Which he is. Kenroy finds him looking for whatever’s hidden in “this creepy maze.” Eagan’s able to convince Kenroy that God’s been telling him to go through this particular door. He suggests Kenroy help him and Kenroy reluctantly agrees.
Olive and TJ (Garrett Wareing) go over everything they know about the omega sapphire and Olive recalls seeing a reference in an old diary. It said something about a man from the Omega Order protecting a mystical sapphire but she doesn’t know what happened after that.
The sapphire is supposed to be incredibly powerful, and she believes that if they find it, they might be able to save Cal.
Meanwhile, Michaela and Saanvi follow the compass and it leads them back to the boiler room where they hid Thomas. A wall breaks down and Eagan and Kenroy walk through the opening, shocked to see Michaela and Saanvi.
Kenroy moves shelves away from a wall and exposes the name Leo inside of a heart on the wall. He demands to know who wrote it and Saanvi says Thomas did. Thomas wrote it because he was searching for the love of his life. It turns out Kenroy is Leo!
Leo had no idea Thomas was looking for him after 828 returned.
The compass points at the heart and Eagan breaks the wall and exposes another wall made of bricks behind it. Eagan explains 828er Logan was his cellmate and told him about the compass. It turns out Logan’s relative was a freemason and built the Masonic Temple of the Omega Order.
There’s an image of a heart behind the Leo heart, and Eagan’s positive this all leads to the omega sapphire. The group pitch in to tear down more of the wall and more images are exposed. Michaela facetimes Olive and TJ, and Olive and TJ recognize the images on the wall as the ones on the tarot deck.
The images have corresponding numbers and the group in the basement begins matching numbered tiles to each engraved piece.
Jared and Zeke manage to convince an attendant to let them take Marko out for a few hours. When Marko arrives at the Stone house, his breathing slows and he seems calm. His hand moves and Cal figures out he wants a pen and paper.
Marko draws lines and once Eden, Olive, and TJ join the group in the living room Marko deliberately drops the pen. Zeke can tell he wants something, and Cal suggests he needs a different color crayon. Marko accepts the red crayon and begins drawing again.
Now it’s obvious he’s drawing an erupting volcano. Olive recognizes it and grabs the world card from the tarot deck. Simultaneously, the group in the basement realize they’re missing the world card on the wall.
Ben believes this is why they were all in the same calling. “Your journeys go hand-in-hand,” says Olive.
Ben calls Michaela and after a brief discussion, Olive points out the only thing different on Marko’s drawing is his has fire. Michaela has an idea and pries open a grate under the images on the wall. They start a fire in the grate and suddenly every image on the wall lights up, with lava seeping through the bricks. The bricks then fall down exposing an etching of an Egyptian woman. There’s an opening in her chest and Eagan sticks his hand end and grabs the omega sapphire.
After he removes it, he confesses he was supposed to have found this years ago. His first Calling was leading him to this, but he didn’t understand. Michaela and Saanvi realize a previous Calling was leading them to the sapphire, too.
There’s a rumbling and the room starts falling apart. The rubble traps Leo and Eagan escapes with the sapphire while Michaela and Saanvi help Leo out.
They’re attempting to figure out a way to escape when Thomas shows up and runs to Leo. They cry as they embrace and reconfirm their love. Thomas reveals he was brought there by a Calling.
Before they leave, Saanvi sends a photo of the woman etched on the wall to Olive.
Michaela calls Ben with the news they found and then lost the omega sapphire. Jared pledges to help them any way he can, and he volunteers to take Marko back since Zeke’s leg is hurting a little.
Before he leaves, Eden runs up to Marko and sets the volcano snow globe on his lap. It’s Cal’s but Cal also thinks Marko’s supposed to have it.
Olive and TJ look at the photo and recognize the goddess Maat from TJ’s papyrus. Olive’s worried she’s losing everyone she loves, and TJ suggests they ask the tarot cards. Olive pulls out the death card, and TJ makes light of it – reminding her it’s about spiritual transformation.
Cal asks for his morphine and Ben helps him with it. Zeke experiences what Cal’s experiencing but shakes it off and leaves the room.
A short while later, Olive begs her brother to tell her the truth and he admits he’s dying. Olive sobs and pleads for it not to be true.
Alex fixes up Leo’s leg and Saanvi has a moment alone with her, and thanks her for everything she’s done for all of them. They hold hands a minute longer than necessary and only pull apart when Saanvi has a calling.
Marko’s being wheeled back to his room when the volcano in the snow globe erupts, shatters the glass, and then disappears. Ashes fall.
Eagan returns to his motel room to pack and when he picks up the sapphire, he also has a Calling of the ashes falling.
Back at the Stone house, the family’s gathered in support of Cal when they also see ashes and then are back on board the plane. This time Alex and Leo are onboard too as at the back of the plane flames appear along with lava.
“Dad, it’s not just us!” says Cal.
The lava spreads down the aisle as Ben says, “That’s why they’re here. Noah’s Ark…the apocalyptic Callings….”
“The death date isn’t just for the passengers. It’s for everyone!” adds Cal.
Eagan appears on the plane, holding the omega sapphire which is sending out beams of white light. They beg for him to hand over the sapphire and he tries to but disappears as Michaela reaches out her hand.
Ben sees the erupting volcano outside the plane’s window.
The episode ends with Eagan sprawled on the floor, head bloody. Someone stole the omega sapphire!
Cal’s able to tell Michaela that Violet helped Angelina with baby stuff before the cops arrive to take him in as Netflix’s Manifest season four episode eight begins. Ben’s concerned the cops will figure out Gabriel is Cal five years older and they’ll use him as a lab rat. He warns Cal not to say anything as he’s taken away.
Jared (J.R. Ramirez) stays behind to protect Olive (Luna Blaise) and Eden since the Stones are on Noelle’s radar after helping her daughter. They think Adrian is also on Noelle’s hit list since he definitely helped Angelina, and he’s just used his credit card to check into a motel.
Michaela (Melissa Roxburgh) and Zeke (Matt Long) head off to the motel as Ben (Josh Dallas) shows up at the 828 Registry angry that they’ve arrested Gabriel without any evidence. He’s told by Captain Fahey, the new commander of the Registry, that Gabriel and Violet had an aggressive exchange…which is weird since the last thing they did was kiss. Anyway, they’ll run his prints and DNA and let him go if he didn’t do anything wrong.
Eagan has a Calling and sees what looks like a deserted warehouse. He hears Adrian calling out for help inside.
Adrian left behind all of his stuff, including his wallet, at the motel. There’s a cloth with chloroform on it by the bed, so Jared and Michaela correctly assume Noelle’s already grabbed him. Eagan’s only staying two doors away, and they inform him Adrian’s been taken by Angelina’s mom. Eagan panics since he also sort of helped Angelina. Plus, he stopped by Noelle’s house, so she knows his face.
Eagan demands to come with them and describes his Calling. He’s sure he can help them find Adrian if they let him stay at their home.
Back at the Registry, Drea’s able to get into the system and delete Cal’s fingerprints. She’s also able to discover info on Noelle’s family’s business and gives Jared the address to the family’s headquarters.
Noelle takes Angelina (Holly Taylor) to the empty warehouse where she already has Adrian tied to a chair. She wants her daughter to watch Adrian get cleansed from the world – like the others. Angelina finally figures out that her mom’s holding her prisoner and that she killed the passengers. She also realizes it’s all the people who helped her which is bad news for Adrian.
“She wants me to watch you die,” says Angelina.
Drea whispers to Ben that she’s worried about the lab tech taking Cal’s DNA sample. She won’t be able to delete it, like she did the fingerprints. Cal has to leave before the tech gets there.
Dr. Gupta arrives at the Bird’s Nest and confesses she feels guilty about the Major’s experiments. Saanvi (Parveen Kaur) wants to avoid the Major’s mistakes and Aria reveals that she copied the Major’s files. She hands over the flash drive and the files it contains show that the Major used sapphire during her experiments on 828ers to generate Callings.
Saanvi realizes the Major was using a higher grade of sapphire. Gupta also reveals the more pain the 828ers experienced, the clearer the Callings.
Saanvi calls Olive and explains they need a better grade of sapphire. Olive says Eagan’s there and Saanvi believes he’d be the perfect subject of an experiment to regenerate or enhance a Calling since he just experienced one about Adrian.
Eagan doesn’t exactly volunteer so much as he’s volunteered to become Saanvi’s guinea pig.
Michaela and Jared are allowed to look around Noelle’s headquarters by a disgruntled ex-employee. It’s filled with boxes and files; too bad Michaela doesn’t get a Calling leading her to the right file!
Cal continues to be interrogated and he describes his date with Violet, including the kiss which was the greatest feeling he’s ever had. And then two hours later, he learned she was murdered. He regrets not walking her home and thinks he might have been able to protect her.
Ben’s in the Registry waiting area when the microwave plays a tune he recognizes. It’s the same melody he and Radd heard during a previous Calling, and Ben hustles over to see him. Radd also heard the music which turns out to be the song he wrote for his son. However, this time he and Ben heard a slightly different melody. Ben heard the opening and Radd heard a different portion of the song. Neither heard the bridge that Radd wrote in honor of Ben.
Radd plays the bridge and they still can’t figure it out. Radd plays it slower, and Ben counts 10 notes which correspond to 10 numbers. The answer is a New York phone number. Ben calls it and it’s Dr. Alex Bates’ office.
He asks if Gabriel/Cal is a patient and pleads with her to tell him what’s going on. Cal’s in trouble and Alex admits his cancer’s returned. Radd quickly suggests if he has cancer, the Registry doesn’t have the resources to care for him. They’ll have to release him to Alex. Ben hopes Alex gets to the Registry before they take Cal’s DNA.
A short while later Alex, Radd, and Ben convince the Registry to release Cal just as the needle’s poised to take a DNA sample. Ben hugs him tight and apologizes for how he’s treated him. Cal says they’ll make it through whatever happens together.
Over at the Stone place, Olive is taking a deep dive into the different grades of sapphire. She believes they need an omega sapphire to tap into the Callings. Zeke’s with her and he looks horrible. He finally confesses he fell off the wagon and hasn’t told Michaela. Olive assures him she and Michaela believe in him.
Eagan makes it to the Bird’s Nest and Gupta and Saanvi hook him up to the machine. Saanvi’s going to copy the Major’s experiment but promises not to push it as far as the Major did. Eagan focuses on his recent Calling and Saanvi monitors the machines.
Suddenly Eagan appears to have a seizure and his vitals spike. There’s a flash and a faint glow in his memory center. When Eagan is disconnected, he claims he didn’t see anything.
Saanvi refuses to push it any further. As much as they all dislike Eagan, they’re not going to torture him.
Olive finds a lead to the last remaining omega sapphire. She calls Saanvi with the news and Saanvi realizes it was in the last fragment of Noah’s Ark which she threw into the fissure. Saanvi destroyed the only thing that would let her generate a Calling.
Saanvi confesses to Eagan they lost their shot at figuring out Callings because of the omega sapphire. Eagan realizes he knows its actual location but doesn’t share the information.
Jared and Michaela discover in Noelle’s paperwork the most likely location where Adrian’s being held.
And speaking of that secret location, Angelina’s able to free herself from her restraints but refuses to free Adrian. Noelle returns and prays for Adrian and Adrian tosses prayers back at her. She doesn’t care and is set on killing him, even as Vance, Jared, and Michaela enter the building.
Fortunately, they manage to revive Adrian (she tried to drown him) and take Noelle into custody.
Unfortunately, Drea says Noelle’s not the killer. She was caught on camera elsewhere when Violet died.
Zeke reads Eden a bedtime story and after he leaves her room, he’s overcome with rage. Michaela calls him just as Zeke realizes the killer’s nearby.
Olive checks the doors and sees the cop car is still parked out front. She lets the officer in and, of course, the man isn’t an actual cop. He’s the killer and he’s also Noelle’s husband/Angelina’s dad, Kenneth.
Zeke fights him over the gun as Olive races upstairs to protect Eden. Zeke’s shot in the leg as Kenneth heads upstairs for the “demon child.” Olive hits him in the head and then pushes him out the second-story window.
Zeke’s wound is easily patched up and now it’s Olive’s turn to feel a little guilt over killing someone.
Jared delivers Noelle to the Registry and the captain requests Jared transfer to the Registry. Jared looks conflicted about the possibility of returning to detective while being attached to an organization he despises.
Zeke confesses he fell off the wagon and Michaela reacts by hugging and kissing him.
Ben stands at the end of Cal’s bed and looks at his ill son. He climbs into bed with him and holds him close.
Olive leaves another message for TJ saying she’s had a rough day and would love to hear his voice. He texts her in response from a cab…right outside her front door! He’s been searching for an omega sapphire in Egypt and now thinks it’s in New York.
TJ (welcome back, Garret Wareing) asks Olive to go on a sapphire hunt and also for permission to kiss her. Permission granted.
Eagan shows up at a shelter to volunteer, led by a Calling that indicated the omega sapphire was there. That makes sense given the shelter’s inside the Masonic Temple of the Omega Order.
Neither Zeke nor Cal are in great shape as Netflix’s Manifest season four episode seven begins. Cal’s laid out on a couch on the Stones’ porch while Zeke (Matt Long) watches over him. When Cal (Ty Doran) finally wakes up, Zeke insists that Cal should be checked out by a doctor. Cal returns the “you’re looking horrible” assessment by noting Zeke has alcohol on his breath.
Cal refuses to let his family know there’s something wrong. He doesn’t want to stress them out. However, he agrees to see a doctor who he doesn’t consider part of the family.
The Registry’s buzzing when Michaela (Melissa Roxburgh) shows up and Drea confirms Anna Ross was murdered. Ted’s not a suspect and Michaela wonders why there’s not a cop at every 828er’s door.
Over at the Bird’s Nest, Saanvi (Parveen Kaur) has been burning the midnight oil. She’s also latched onto sapphire being integral to figuring out what happened on Flight 828.
Cal and Zeke visit Dr. Alex Bates (Saanvi’s ex-girlfriend), and Cal learns she suspects his cancer’s back. Alex suggests he focus on living his life and anything that’ll take his mind off his condition.
Ben (Josh Dallas) is hanging out with his dad and Eden at home, still trying to reconnect with his daughter, when Michaela calls with the news Anna Ross was murdered. She warns him that he and Cal should be extra cautious, just as Cal arrives home. Cal’s upset his dad wants him to stay home since no one knows who he is anyway. Ben insists he needs to stay hidden.
Ben and his dad notice Eden’s written letters and figure out she’s having a Calling. Ben’s dad tells him to help his daughter out by following the Calling.
Jared (J.R. Ramirez) and Michaela return to Sam’s place to search for clues. His young neighbor informs them that a lady and her daughter were staying with Sam, and she offered to babysit but the anti-828ers scared them away. She identifies a photo of Eden as the child staying with Sam.
Michaela calls Drea to tell her Anna and Sam both took in Angelina. She’s the connection. Michaela also comes up with a new possible suspect, an anti-828er who calls himself XOUT828. The anonymous person wants to wipe out 828ers and mark them with blood. The two victims had Xs in blood on their palms, so that lines up. Plus, Michaela had a Calling of an X written in blood.
Jared learns XOUT828’s name is Greg Turner and they stake him out.
Back at the Bird’s Nest, Saanvi takes apart the expensive laser to get to its sapphire. She believes sapphire can give her an all-access pass to unlimited Callings.
Cal texts someone, smiles at the reply, and gets dressed up to go out. He’s going to disobey his dad and follow the doctor’s orders.
Ben follows the clues in Eden’s drawing and visits the Assisted Living Neuroscience Institute. It matches Eden’s drawing with ALNI and the sun. He makes up an excuse to look around the place and winds up in a room full of 828ers in wheelchairs. They’re just sitting in their chairs, unable to move or communicate.
Saanvi joins Ben and Ben explains he’s there responding to Eden’s Calling. A staff member orders them out of the room, but Saanvi and Ben don’t give up. The employee tells them no one cares but him about these patients, and he finally gives in when Ben can identify them all as 828ers.
Ben spots Marko and has a flashback of Marko in pain while the Major experimented on him. Ben realizes Eden’s Calling meant he was supposed to help everyone, not just himself. He holds Marko’s hand and apologizes and tears stream down Marko’s face. The care facility employee’s incredulous and lets Saanvi have five minutes with their charts.
When Saanvi opens their charts, their brain scans light up, sending beams of bright light straight up into the air.
Jared and Michaela show up uninvited at Angelina’s mom’s place and she’s pissed they think their badges allow them to look around the place. Police have already gone through everything there and Noelle claims she tried to protect the world from her daughter. She also claims she hasn’t seen her daughter in years.
Autopsies confirm Angelina was too small to have been the killer.
Cal meets up with Violet, one of the 828ers he saved at the compound. They have instant chemistry and spend the day getting to know each other. They hit a karaoke bar (both are hysterically horrible singers!) and Cal’s even comfortable enough to admit he’s really Cal Stone and his sister’s Eden.
Violet has her own confession. She helped Angelina a year ago and now regrets not telling anyone Angelina’s location.
Cal and Violet kiss a couple of times and then it’s time to call it a night. They really hit it off and Cal’s incredibly happy for one of the few times since Flight 828 was lost in the divine consciousness.
Zeke picks up Cal’s meds from Alex but almost immediately hands them back. He’s only been sober for 18 hours and doesn’t trust himself with powerful opioids. He has an epiphany and sits down. He finally acknowledges he has neglected to focus on his own pain. He cries as he confesses that he hasn’t told Michaela he relapsed, and he and Alex agree he shouldn’t keep this a secret.
Cal makes it home and although he’s still coughing up blood, he’s in a good mood. The only hitch is Violet doesn’t return his text.
Jared and Michaela continue their stake out and follow Greg to a passenger’s house. They grab him before he can do anything, but he doesn’t have a knife on him. As they’re talking, Drea texts Michaela that another passenger was just stabbed. Greg isn’t the murderer.
Saanvi and Ben return to the Bird’s Nest and try and figure out what the Calling wanted them to do. Saanvi believes the beam of light looked like an antenna pointing toward the glow. Maybe they’re still connected to the divine consciousness, thanks to the experiments the Major did on them.
Saanvi wants to replicate that without hurting any of them. If she can do that, if she can create a link to the divine consciousness, they may survive their Death Date.
Zeke attends an AA meeting and declares he’s one day sober.
When Ben returns home, Eden’s all smiles and runs and grabs her dad’s hand. She even takes his nametag and sticks it on one of her toys before calling him daddy for the very first time. Ben cries but then pulls himself together and takes a seat next to his daughter.
Michaela’s the next to arrive and she’s happy to see Ben and Eden together at last.
Saanvi and Vance go over everything and Saanvi’s confused how the Major tapped into the God frequency. Nothing in the Major’s reports mentions sapphire. Vance suggests she ask Aria Gupta since she conducted the intake exams.
Alex calls Zeke to confirm his cancer has returned.
Michaela figures out her Calling wasn’t of a bleeding X, it was of a bleeding cross. She now believes Angelina’s mom is the murderer.
Jared arrives looking for Cal. He was the last person to see the latest victim – Violet – alive and the police suspect he’s the murderer. Of course, the police don’t know he’s Cal Stone but they have a photo of him walking away from Violet. They’re coming to take in Gabriel and Cal needs to escape right now before they arrest him.
Cal becomes emotional upon learning Violet was murdered.
Friendship, family, guilt, and the need to form a connection are at the core of Jennifer Lawrence’s independent film Causeway. Lawrence plays Lynsey, a U.S. Army engineer who, after surviving an attack in Afghanistan, is sent home to recover from a traumatic brain injury.
The Army sets her up with rehab and a place to temporarily live with Sharon, a patient and thoughtful caregiver (Jayne Houdyshell). Once settled in at Sharon’s house, it’s the beginning of a long road back for Lynsey, who must relearn to do some of the most basic things, including using utensils to eat and finding the right words to communicate correctly.
After a relatively short period of time, Lynsey’s ready to go back home to New Orleans. The plan is for Lynsey to stay at her childhood home with her mother, Gloria (Linda Emond), while finishing her recovery. Once home, Lynsey obtains a job cleaning pools and is determined to become strong enough to return to Afghanistan and continue to serve.
When Gloria’s truck breaks down Lynsey takes it to a garage for repair and meets the owner, James (Brian Tyree Henry). Realizing Lynsey seems a little out of her element, James offers to give her a ride. Lynsey notices that James has a prosthetic leg and asks if he served. He didn’t. Instead, his leg was amputated as the result of a car accident.
From here the film focuses on the budding friendship between these two lost souls. Their initial interactions come when Lynsey reaches out to James for help moving heavy pool equipment and then for a ride to her doctor’s appointment. They begin to hang out and bond while getting drunk and eating snow cones.
It’s obvious Lynsey and James are drawn to each other but not because of a romantic attraction; Lynsey nixes that idea when she makes it clear she prefers women. They connect because they’re both wounded, lonely, and misunderstood people struggling with physical and emotional trauma as well as survivor’s guilt.
Brian Tyree Henry and Jennifer Lawrence in ‘Causeway,’ premiering November 4, 2022 on Apple TV+.
Causeway is a heavy-handed psychological drama of which the first 10 minutes are the best part of the film. The scenes with Houdyshell as Sharon taking care of Lynsey as she struggles to relearn simple tasks and slowly build up her strength feel real and come off authentic. Houdyshell’s brief performance is truly the highlight of the film.
From there, it’s a slow and tedious trip for the audience as Lawrence deals with her old hometown and its ghosts, which aren’t even interesting. Jennifer Lawrence sleepwalks her way through the film as Lynsey whose closed-off and blasé attitude results in creating an uninteresting character we’re left having a hard time caring about.
Brian Tyree Henry has some strong moments as James, the kind but broken mechanic who’s filled with self-loathing and survivor’s guilt. The scene where he tells Lynsey about the accident is his best moment in the film.
Unfortunately, most of the scenes between James and Lynsey are filled with long pregnant pauses and go on and on without either one having much to say. It’s not dramatic, just painfully boring and drawn out.
Sadly, as a film dealing with survivor’s guilt, PTSD, and finding a way to move forward, director Lila Neugebauer’s Causeway feels like a well-intentioned but missed opportunity.

“Long Lost Lawrence” Plot: When Margaret is disappointed that no one but Todd can attend her family Thanksgiving dinner, Todd tries to convince his brother, Lawrence (Wilkas), to come home. Also, Margaret’s family inadvertently helps her crack a case involving an injured bank teller and robbery.
Marcia Gay Harden and Skylar Astin star as razor-sharp, meticulous attorney Margaret Wright (Harden) and Todd (Astin), her talented but scruffy, aimless son whom she hires as her law firm’s in-house investigator. As the black sheep of the well-heeled Wright family, Todd is a laidback, quick-thinking, excellent former private detective who fell on hard times after his flexible interpretation of the law got his license revoked. Margaret’s penchant for excellence and strict adherence to the law is at complete odds with Todd’s scrappy methods of finding his way through sticky situations: by the seat of his wrinkled pants.
When Todd inadvertently teams with his mother on a case, she’s surprised to find herself duly impressed by – and proud of – his crafty ability to sleuth out information with his charm and his wide-ranging tech savvy. At last, Margaret sees a way to put her son on a “suitable” path to living an adult, financially solvent life she approves of, and she asks him to join her firm. Todd agrees since it means getting his license back and once again doing the job he excels at and loves.
Mother and son working together is a big first step toward mending their fragile, dysfunctional relationship, and they may even come away with a better understanding of each other at this pivotal point in their lives. But whether Todd and Margaret will be able to accept each other for who they are is another case entirely.
Netflix’s Manifest season four episode six picks up the action the morning after the bombing at the compound. The police are swarming the crime scene, and it’s revealed Erika’s dead body has five bullets in it. The Captain wants to get the rounds to Ballistics ASAP.
Jared (J.R. Ramirez) is also roaming the crime scene while over at the Stone place, Ben (Josh Dallas) is giving interviews to the press about Eden’s return. Michaela’s been hauled into the Registry to tell her side of the story. Both do a decent job of covering up the truth.
Angelina (Holly Taylor) shows up at her mom’s house, and this time her mom welcomes her in.
Back at the Stone home, Eden’s still sleeping as Cal (Ty Doran) tells Olive (Luna Blaise) he had a Calling and thinks the Lifeboat is sinking and they can’t stop it. Whatever they’re doing isn’t enough to change anything. Olive reminds him he needs to follow the Callings, but Cal’s adamant that they’re not enough to save the Lifeboat.
Ben joins them in Eden’s room and she wakes up and asks for her mom. Ben knows it’s going to take time for Eden to understand what happened.
Jared’s partner, Diaz, grumbles about doing another 828 thing, but the Captain’s grateful for their help. He’s also grateful that Jared’s willing to take the bullets to Ballistics. Diaz notices a fertilizer label and figures out how this all ties together.
Still, Jared refuses to confide in him about what’s really going on.
Jared’s about to leave the crime scene when he spots Vance’s vehicle. He provides Vance with an update and shows him the shell casings. They match Jared’s gun, but he’s unwilling to give them to Vance. He’s determined to do the right thing and take them to Ballistics.
Cal and Zeke (Matt Long) have a moment alone and accuse each other of suppressing how they really feel. Zeke knows Cal’s not feeling well, and Cal knows Zeke was bombarded with rage. Zeke confirms he feels guilty over shooting Erika but still needs to get to work.
When he walks away, Cal coughs blood into a tissue.
Michaela (Melissa Roxburgh) tells Ben she had a Calling that looked like she was standing on an aquarium looking at fish. Ben notes one of the passengers, Sam Wile, owns an aquarium supply company.
Michaela calls Zeke as she heads over to check on Sam. She suggests Zeke takes things easy after what he just went through, and Zeke claims he had to go to work because his patients need him.
Sam doesn’t answer but his door’s unlocked, so Michaela walks in. The place is trashed and Sam’s dead in the middle of the kitchen floor.
Back at the Stone house, Olive and Cal work through the whole Callings are memories theory. Olive points out Eden gets Callings but wasn’t on the plane, so there must be another way to connect with the divine consciousness.
Ben tries to connect with Eden by showing her her old toys. Eden doesn’t remember any of them and just wants her mommy.
Jared meets Michaela at Sam’s place and immediately recognizes the victim as tussling with Officer Vasquez outside the 828 Registry. Vasquez was roughing him up when Jared stepped in.
Michaela suggests they do their own investigation, starting with Sam’s wife. They question her outside the Registry and she admits they got divorced because he was too nice. He took everyone in and even gave those in need cash from their business.
After she leaves, Jared and Michaela decide the next step is to ask Drea to pull up Sam’s bank records.
Ben decides to shave his beard so that maybe Eden won’t think of him as the “bad man” anymore. Olive subs in for her mom and helps Ben cut it off. He also invites Anna over and asks for her help, since Eden stayed with her for a while and likes her. Anna agrees to help in any way she can.
Adrian attacks Eagan minutes after he’s released from jail, blaming him for the compound being blown up. Eagan suggests he should blame Angelina, and Adrian confesses that although everyone thinks she died in the bombing, she actually escaped.
Adrian’s upset he took her to a nice house in Westchester, and she didn’t even let him stay for one night.
There’s a $20,000 reward for her location which is on the map on Adrian’s phone. Adrian claims he’s not giving up her location, but he just did since Eagan looked at the map.
Eagan shows up at Angelina’s mom’s place and she claims her daughter’s dead. He knows she’s lying and demands $20,000 or else he’ll give the Registry Angelina’s location.
She gives him her expensive watch and sends him on his way.
Zeke discovers that after shooting Erika, he’s no longer able to control his anger. Connecting with a patient enrages him and rather than helping the man, he attacks him. He’s forced into leaving the job he loves.
Drea, Jared, and Michaela sort through Sam’s finances and determine there’s someone crooked inside the Registry that he was paying $2000 a month to before he was murdered.
Jared’s stopped on the way out of the Registry and told to surrender his gun. They’re going to compare his weapon to the bullets, thanks to a tip from Jared’s partner. Jared isn’t going to lie about what happened and tells Michaela he’s just going to trust his moral compass.
Drea does a quick investigation and learns Sam was always questioned by Captain Ted Colvin, the same officer who just took Jared’s gun. She’s going to look through his office while he’s out and see what she can discover. She finds rolls of cash in his drawer and Sam’s ring in Ted’s coat pocket.
Ted spots her exiting his office and chases her up to the roof. He wants the ring back, and she manages to call Jared before Ted attacks her. Jared and Michaela hear the conversation and race to the roof. Ted’s busy explaining why he’s now a dirty cop when Jared shows up and tells him he’s done. Ted claims he didn’t kill his “golden goose” and threatens to turn Jared and Michaela in for their involvement in Erika’s death.
Jared refuses his offer and Michaela charges, knocking Ted to the ground.
Ted’s locked up and, unfortunately, Michaela’s timing sucks as she has a Calling while being interviewed about what happened.
Jared knows his gun will match the bullets and tells Vance he’s ready to take the fall. However, Vance has an advance copy of the report and the bullets don’t match Jared’s gun. In fact, they don’t match any gun that’s ever been manufactured. (Well played, Vance.)
Angelina calls Ben and wants to speak with Eden. Ben’s shocked and upset that she’s alive and that she reached out and wants to remain in Eden’s life. He warns her to stay away from his child.
Ben’s crestfallen when Eden wants her mommy even after he shaved off his beard.
Angelina calls Cal and begs to speak to Eden. Cal refuses and tells her she’ll never understand what she’s done to his family. Cal only wants Eden to heal, and Angelina suggests she can help since she knows everything Eden likes/dislikes.
Cal makes a deal and will let her talk to Eden if she tells the child that Ben loves her and that he’s a good man. Angelina agrees.
Ben walks in as Angelina’s singing to Eden on Cal’s phone. Ben can’t understand what Cal was thinking, and Cal explains what he was attempting to do. Ben’s not buying it and accuses Cal of being connected to Angelina in some weird way. He doesn’t trust his son to keep Angelina out of their lives.
Ben makes the mistake of making Cal feel like he loves Eden more, and Cal decides to leave home. He writes a brief note saying his dad was right and he shouldn’t be there right now.
Olive calls TJ and leaves a message detailing how sapphire is somehow connected to everything. She even explains Moses was standing on sapphire when he received the Ten Commandments from God. Every time humans communicate with the divine, sapphire is involved. (This call does the job of explaining to the audience everything we need to know about sapphire and the divine consciousness.)
Eagan shows up at a police station to claim the $20,000 in exchange for Angelina’s whereabouts.
Jared believes Sam’s killer is still out there. He doesn’t think Ted Colvin murdered the 828er. It looks like he’s onto something when 828er Anna is stabbed to death.
Zeke’s so upset and confused that he turns to alcohol for help. As he’s stumbling home, he trips over Cal’s unconscious body.
Vance pounds on the Stones’ front door as Netflix’s Manifest season four episode five kicks off. He wakes everyone in the house and informs them that Ben gave him the slip. Ben’s tracking down Eden by himself, without any backup.
The gang heads to the attic and breaks into Ben’s laptop but there’s nothing helpful in his email. Plus, they find his phone so they can’t contact him. Vance (Daryl Edwards) knows this isn’t going to end well.
Meanwhile, Jared (J.R. Ramirez) shows up at Adrian’s compound to speak with Erika. Surprisingly, she’s able to convince him the fertilizer is for their greenhouse. Ben’s tied up and gagged in a nearby room, but Jared doesn’t hear his muffled screams as he tours the greenhouse and learns they’re raising honey bees.
After Jared leaves, Adrian warns Erika not to screw up their living situation by doing something dangerous.
Michaela (Melissa Roxburgh) heads to the jail, but Eagan refuses to see her.
Over at the Bird’s Nest, Saanvi (Parveen Kaur) undergoes an MRI but the results aren’t helpful. She hoped it would prove the passengers can use ULF to communicate. Troy wonders if Saanvi believes a higher power is communicating through ULF; he calls it the God frequency and Saanvi approves of that description.
Eden follows a bee to the room where her dad is held captive. It’s the first time Ben (Josh Dallas) has seen his daughter since she was kidnapped as a baby, and he cries as he tries to speak to her through his gag. Angelina (Holly Taylor) grabs Eden and warns her this is a bad man.
Eden gives her a hug and calls her mommy. Angelina tells the adorable child not to talk to strangers and that the bad man wants to hurt her.
Erika puts together multiple bombs using the fertilizer and then pays a visit to Angelina’s room. (No one other than Adrian is supposed to know she’s hiding out at the compound.) Erika shows her one of the bombs and explains that if the police show up, they can set off the bombs and escape.
Donovan, one of the 828ers, brings Ben some food but doesn’t believe him when he says Angelina’s here with Eden. Ben only wants his daughter back and suggests Donovan should stop listening to Adrian and should start paying attention to the Callings again. He begs Donovan to untie him and when he won’t, Ben tells him to ask Adrian about Angelina and to mention “signs and wonders.” (That’s something Adrian used to say.)
Meanwhile, Cal (Ty Doran) and Olive (Luna Blaise) refuse to leave the Bird’s Nest, believing Vance will be the first one to hear any news about Ben. As Saanvi takes samples from Cal’s scar, Olive describes how Cal saw mythological objects glowing last night.
Olive also brings up divine consciousness and Cal’s certain that’s where 828 disappeared to.
Troy suggests they stick Cal in the MRI and when they do, the screen shows Cal’s brain glowing as soon as the machine’s turned on. Cal experiences a Calling full of smoke, fire, ashes, and lightning. He also sees his dad holding baby Eden.
Cal screams for them to stop the machine and they pull him out. He thinks he knows where his dad is and is sure everyone’s in trouble. (Aren’t they always?)
Vance and Cal take off to the compound.
Jared heads to Drea’s and she greets him fresh out of the shower. He shows off the jar of honey he got from going on a wild fertilizer goose chase and Drea promises to make it up to him. She drops the towel and suggests he grab the honey.
Zeke’s counseling session goes south, and he’s unable to help a man with his problems. For some reason, his special skill isn’t working. His hands shake uncontrollably.
Back at home, Zeke’s looking pretty rough when Michaela arrives. She offers tea and honey but gets sidetracked by a Calling with buzzing bees around her head. Michaela recalls seeing a bee in the attic and heads up there to find one leading her toward Erika’s photo on the board.
Michaela calls Drea for info on Erika and tells her about the bees. Drea realizes the honey is connected to the location where Ben’s being held.
Ben frees himself from his restraints but can’t break out of the window. He falls and then uses his own blood to write the seat numbers of the passengers who are at the compound on the window.
Jared, Michaela, and Zeke arrive outside Adrian’s place, and after Drea’s name enters the conversation, Zeke finally figures out that Jared and Drea are sleeping together. Michaela confirms she’s known it for a while but “girl code” forbade her from sharing the news.
The place looks deserted and Jared circles around while Michaela and Zeke take up a different position. He locates a bomb inside the greenhouse and realizes the situation’s just dramatically escalated.
Inside the main house, a group meeting’s underway and Donovan’s questioning Adrian about who’s upstairs. Adrian’s finally forced to admit Angelina and Eden are upstairs. Donovan also makes him confess he’s got Ben tied up in a room.
Adrian promises to get rid of Angelina.
A flashback shows Angelina and baby Eden stealing money from Angelina’s mom’s home. Her mom, Noelle, was furious Angelina murdered Grace and kidnapped a baby, and she ordered Angelina out of her house. (This was the first time Angelina heard that Grace died.) Her mom slammed the door in her face and said, “You’re dead to me.”
Angelina’s convinced she was sent to this compound to destroy it. She believes the righteous will be protected.
Angelina joins the group discussion and turns the tables on Adrian, saying he’ll betray all of them. Angelina clutches a detonator in her hand while she’s talking, and Erika stands at her side as she says, “Today is your day of judgment.”
Eden’s talking to herself while playing with a doll, and Ben can hear her from the other side of the wall. He uses a piece from a broken plate to loosen a vent.
Angelina’s so crazy she thinks that when the bombs go off, those who are worthy will be saved. Eden will shepherd them toward salvation. Adrian tries to tell her Eden’s just a child, but Angelina’s too far gone to listen.
They argue and Donovan manages to leave the room and find Ben. He admits Ben was right and thinks they need to leave right now. Unfortunately, Erika followed him and whacks him on the head with her rifle.
Jared knows they need backup but that will take time. The place could blow any minute.
Cal and Vance pick the exact right moment to arrive, and Cal confirms he’s aware there’s a bomb. But he’s not worried because of his Calling.
Cal goes in alone as the 828ers experience a Calling with ashes. He’s quickly able to convince Angelina he’s Cal and to get her to leave the room so they can talk privately.
While they talk, Jared, Michaela, and Zeke enter the building and free Ben. Once freed, Ben says all the 828ers need help except Angelina and Erika. They’re both completely off the rails.
Zeke and Jared help Donovan while Michaela gets the other passengers out and Ben heads upstairs to retrieve Eden. Adrian hangs back to look for Erika.
Ben places a stocking cap on Eden’s head and Eden calls out for her mom. Angelina hears and runs toward Eden, realizing Cal is just a distraction. She confronts Ben who’s holding Eden as Cal pleads for her to let go of the detonator.
Cal and Angelina fight over the detonator as Cal tells his dad to leave. Cal says he knows he’ll be fine because he remembered it. Angelina presses the button, but nothing happens. Cal knocks it from her hand as Ben flees with Eden.
The bombs were on a short timer and they detonate with Angelina and Cal still inside. Ben screams for his son and moments later Cal emerges through the smoke, unharmed.
Saanvi, Troy, and Olive piece together the clues from Cal’s MRI and figure out the Callings are actually memories from when they were in the divine consciousness. That completely alters their assumptions about the Callings.
Night falls and Michaela, Vance, Jared, Zeke, and the cops are still at the compound. Erika exits the burning building clutching her rifle. Zeke can feel she’s about to kill Michaela and he grabs Jared’s gun and pumps multiple bullets into her.
Michaela disarms him.
They make it back home and Ben holds Eden tight as everyone hugs.
In bed, Michaela holds Zeke while admitting she’s never seen him so angry. He claims his instincts took over when he saw what Erika was going to do.
Olive, Ben, and Cal sit on the couch with Eden, who’s sound asleep in Olive’s lap. Ben credits Cal with saving everyone and wonders why Cal said he “remembered” the bomb. Cal said it was like it all happened before. He excuses himself as he has a coughing fit.
As he’s getting water, he coughs up blood into the sink.
The episode ends with Adrian finding an injured Angelina in the middle of the road. He helps her into his car as ashes rain down.
Michaela’s guilt over her role in Evie’s death four years ago (at least in Michaela’s timeline) leads into a Calling in the opening scene of Netflix’s Manifest season four episode four. Michaela (Melissa Roxburgh) hears thunder and watches as fog rolls in while a bird circles overhead.
She returns home to tell Ben (Josh Dallas) about her Calling but he’s fixated on visiting Eagan in prison, determined to follow every lead involving Eden’s whereabouts.
Cal (Ty Doran) paces the kitchen as Zeke (Matt Long) and Olive (Luna Blaise) cook up breakfast. Cal can’t figure out what Fiona meant when she said he already had the answer, and not even pancakes can make him take a break.
After Cal walks away Zeke points out Cal’s obsessing, just like his dad and aunt do. Olive thinks her dad should be helping him but Ben’s too preoccupied. Olive credits Zeke with helping the family make it through each day, and they toast their ability to withstand whatever life throws at them.
Ben shows up to visit Eagan and Eagan proposes a deal: Get him out of prison and he’ll tell them where Eden is.
Drea (Ellen Tamaki) pays a visit to the Shinnecock Indian Nation Territory office looking for 828er Kyle Boyd who hasn’t checked in. She’s informed this is sovereign land and the Registry can basically shove their paperwork…you know how that saying goes.
Michaela scrolls through bird pictures trying to figure out the bird that circled overhead in her Calling. She thinks it might be a Thunderbird from Native American mythology which, as these things tend to do, ties in with a phone call she receives from Drea. The Thunderbird is on the seal of the Shinnecock Nation.
Michaela’s able to talk her way onto Shinnecock land and into a visit with Kyle. As she approaches Kyle’s door, the fog covers up the walkway. Kyle also sees the fog as Michaela walks into his place.
Michaela has no idea why they’ve been drawn together but when she says it’s all connected, Kyle perks up. He pulls out a suitcase with his mother’s belongings and explains she used to say it’s all connected. Now, she’s dying in a hospital in New York (far from her home in Arizona) and he can’t visit her because the Registry will arrest him.
Michaela thinks she has a solution and that this is why she was brought to him by a Calling. Kyle believes that maybe he’s supposed to help Michaela but doesn’t know how yet.
The fog rolls up on Michaela while she’s driving home, and she has a Calling about the night Evie died. Michaela pulls a U-turn and returns to pick up Kyle. She’s certain she’s supposed to take him to see his mom right now.
Zeke helps sneak Kyle and Michaela into the hospital, but Kyle’s mom is unable to talk. Fortunately, Zeke can interpret her feelings and is able to tell Kyle his mom loves him deeply and is grateful for him. She harbors no guilt or blame. She says one word, “Home,” and Kyle knows he needs to take her back to her own land.
Kyle’s forced to give the nurse his name when he signs out his mom. The Registry’s informed but Kyle and his mom are gone by the time Drea and some officers make it to the hospital to arrest him.
Michaela thanks Drea for everything she does for the 828ers. (Drea really is a hero in season four.)
Kyle left behind a cherished blanket from his mother as a thank you to Michaela.
A flashback shows things were rocky between Cal and Olive when he showed back up. Now, they’re on much better terms (thanks in large part to Zeke’s sympathetic ear and special empathetic power) and Olive offers to help him work through what Fiona said. Olive thinks the answer might be on the 828er board, and she pulls off items looking to piece together the puzzle.
Olive and Cal methodically work their way through the specific clues that led to the discovery of the death date. From there, Olive adds Logan’s compass with a peacock on the back that led her to TJ and the Al-Zuras journal. That led them to the Silver Dragon – aka the airplane. But what’s next? Olive realizes there’s one clue they’re missing and fetches the tarot card – the Star card. The journal, compass, and card have the same star on them.
Ben’s screaming at authorities at the Registry, demanding they help him free Eagan. Drea rings up Jared and he can hear Ben in the background as Drea says they received a call about an 828er buying a large amount of fertilizer. Drea doesn’t think it’s anything, but Jared promises to do a little investigating.
Jared makes an excuse to visit the garden center without alerting his partner as to the real reason for his visit. The clerk says the 828er bought all their fertilizer and paid in cash.
Jared’s partner didn’t just fall off the turnip truck and knows Jared’s doing some sort of 828 investigation. He warns Jared to be careful.
Ben’s next stop is the Bird’s Nest and Vance isn’t overjoyed to see him. Vance (Daryl Edwards) reminds Ben that he stopped taking his calls and hasn’t been helping out the passengers. Ben blows off Vance’s objections and begs him to help free Eagan. (Eagan’s in jail for holding Vance’s son hostage.)
Ben had no idea Saanvi works there or that she’d turned to booze to get through the past two years. (There’s a bottle at her workstation.) Vance softens a bit but explains he doesn’t have the governmental pull he used to have. However, he’ll see what he can do.
Vance and Ben return to the prison with an authorization for suspension of sentence. If Eagan’s information on Eden is correct, then he’ll be released. Eagan signs it and passes Ben the address. The paper burns up in Ben’s hand as he reads the address.
Ben apologizes to Vance and promises to text him Eden’s location. Ben also promises to never forget what Vance did for him.
Later that night, Vance heads out to get Eden but Ben sends him to the wrong address and then turns off his cell phone and leaves it behind.
Olive makes Cal tell her she’s the best sister in the world. They’re still stuck on how the clues fit together and are standing on chairs to get a different perspective (literally) when Zeke and Michaela return home.
Michaela’s got the blanket from Kyle and leaves it by the table when she heads off to bed.
Olive unfolds the blanket and on it is a star that matches the directional points on the compass. There’s something that looks like a button on top of the blanket’s star, and Cal clicks a button on the compass. Inside is inscribed: “Divina conciencia”
Olive says it means divine consciousness and according to tarot, it represents enlightenment. Olive believes Cal’s directly connected to divine consciousness. That’s what Fiona meant when she said he already had the answer.
Suddenly Cal sees items on the table lighting up like the glow that was outside the plane. “It’s all one. It’s all connected,” says Cal. He believes they were all inside the glow. He thinks the plane was in the divine consciousness for five and a half years!
Michaela confesses to Zeke in bed that Kyle telling his mom how he felt allowed him to get rid of his guilt. Maybe that’s what she’s supposed to do, too. She starts crying as she admits she’s tried hard to let go of the guilt but it’s really the only thing left connecting her to Evie. Zeke suggests she should hang onto the guilt if she needs to. It’s her choice and she can use the pain however she wants.
“Our pain can become our strength,” says Zeke.
Ben uses a burner phone to tell Vance he won’t find anything at the location he texted him. Ben thanks Vance again and tells him a Calling said something bad’s going to happen and doesn’t want anyone hurt. Ben knows Vance has sacrificed enough.
Jared receives photos of the person who purchased the fertilizer and Drea immediately recognizes her as Erika Burness. She was arrested for armed robbery and is currently listing Adrian as her landlord.
Ben sneaks around outside Adrian’s boarding house. He’s knocked out before he can make it inside.
