The CW’s Riverdale sent fans into a frenzy with the possibility that Jughead is dead. Season two episode 21 found FP carrying what appeared to be the lifeless body of Jughead after he was attacked by Penny Peabody and the Ghoulies. But, would the show actually kill off one of the fan-favorite characters?
Cole Sprouse tweeted “Grateful, thank you Riverdale” after the episode, and fans have been going a bit crazy while attempting to figure out if Veronica, Betty, and Archie are standing in front of Jughead’s grave at the beginning of the season finale trailer. Oh, and the episode also revealed that Hal Cooper (Lochlyn Munro) is definitely the Black Hood, although it’s possible/likely there’s more than one killer committing murder under that name.
The Riverdale season two finale is set to air on May 16, 2018. Season two episode 22 is titled “Brave New World” (a world without Jughead?) and was directed by Steven A. Adelson from a script by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.
The season two cast includes KJ Apa as Archie Andrews, Lili Reinhart as Betty Cooper, Camila Mendes as Veronica Lodge, Cole Sprouse as Jughead Jones, Madelaine Petsch as Cheryl Blossom, Marisol Nichols as Hermione Lodge, Mӓdchen Amick as Alice Cooper, Luke Perry as Fred Andrews, Casey Cott as Kevin Keller, Ashleigh Murray as Josie McCoy, Mark Consuelos as Hiram Lodge, and Skeet Ulrich as FP Jones.
The “Chapter Thirty-Five: Brave New World” Plot: ELECTION DAY – With Fred (Perry) trailing in the polls, Archie (Apa) steps in to lend a hand in his dad’s mayoral campaign. Veronica (Mendes) stays one step ahead after uncovering Hiram’s (Consuelos) latest scheme. Elsewhere, Cheryl (Petsch) finalizes her emancipation from her mother, while FP (Ulrich) makes a surprising announcement to Jughead (Sprouse) and the Serpents. Finally, Betty (Reinhart) confronts her darkest demons.
Ruth Bader Ginsburg is a fierce fighter for justice and the timely documentary RBG from directors Julie Cohen and Betsy West does a terrific job of touching on key moments in the career of the indomitable Supreme Court Justice. Ruth Bader Ginsburg permitted the directors access to private moments with her friends and family, and the result is a documentary that not only extols her ground-breaking legal career but also provides insight into what makes her tick.
At 85, Ginsburg’s one of the most admired Supreme Court Justices in history. She’s also become a pop culture phenomenon, and her decades of defending women’s rights in a male dominated system have, rightfully, made her a hero to women of all ages. Ginsburg admits to wanting to do everything the boys did while she was growing up, and RBG explores her life-long fight for gender equality.
A documentary series would be necessary to fully comprehend the impact Ruth Bader Ginsburg has had in the battle for women’s rights. However, RBG does touch on pivotal moments in her career over its swift 96-minute running time. Included in the documentary are brief summaries of a few of Ginsburg’s cases including those of a female Air Force pilot denied a housing allowance and a man who was denied his wife’s Social Security benefits after she died in childbirth.
RBG offers a fascinating look at the era in which Ginsburg attended Harvard Law School and then Columbia Law School. Upon graduating, not even the endorsement of a male classmate helped open any doors. At that time, law firms did not want to hire women.
The private life of Justice Ginsburg takes up a surprisingly large percentage of the film, given the vast volume of cases and key decisions she’s been the driving force behind. RBG delves into Martin and Ruth’s 56-year marriage, revealing how supportive and forward-thinking Martin was throughout their marriage. In footage provided for the documentary, the strength of their relationship and the loved they shared is evident and genuinely heartwarming. (Martin passed away in June 2010.)
Directors Cohen and West also provide a glimpse into Justice Ginsburg’s personality and sense of humor, with Justice Ginsburg even chuckling as she watched Kate McKinnon’s impression of her on Saturday Night Live for the very first time. RBG reveals Justice Ginsburg not only takes the Notorious RBG nickname in stride, but also believes she has a few things in common with rapper The Notorious B.I.G. (Christopher Wallace). Additional footage shows Justice Ginsburg in her time away from the court appearing briefly in a Washington National Opera production (reciting lines she wrote) and working out while wearing a “Super Diva” T-shirt.
Justice Ginsburg’s a superhero and role model, a national treasure whose impact on America’s legal system cannot be overstated. This surprisingly moving documentary on Justice Ginsburg’s personal and public life is both enlightening and entertaining. RBG does a terrific job of spotlighting her accomplishments while also pulling back the curtain and allowing us a brief look at what drove her to devote her life to fighting for others and at the support system that keeps her going.

Kiefer Sutherland in a scene from ‘Designated Survivor’ season 2 episode 21 (ABC/Sven Frenzel)
“If you really think that’s what’s best for the country, you shouldn’t be sitting in that chair,” says Cornelius Moss (Geoff Pierson). “But I am,” replies President Kirkman (Kiefer Sutherland) as he’s having Moss investigated to see if he should be prosecuted for leaking classified information in season two episode 21 of ABC’s Designated Survivor.
As the episode begins, Hannah Wells (Maggie Q) goes to the house where she believes Valeria is and ends up in a fight with a guy staying there. The police arrive and arrest her for breaking and entering and assault.
Over at Kendra’s (Zoe McLellan), she’s just waking up after spending the night with the President’s brother, Trey (Breckin Meyer). She’s a little embarrassed and he’s all smiles.
At the White House, Kirkman meets with Emily (Italia Ricci) and Aaron (Adan Canto) about passing a bill when Boone (Paulo Costanzo) turns on the television showing Moss telling reporters he believes Kirkman isn’t fit to be President. On another channel, Ethan West (Michael J. Fox) is lying as he claims to reporters he was the one who got the kid freed from the foreign jail and Kirkman almost sabotaged it. Kirkman suggests to his staff they appoint West to investigate Moss.
Kirkman meets with the Democratic senators about passing his bill. They’ll back it if he’ll stop being an independent and switch over to being a democrat. Kirkman gets fed up with them for playing politics and gets ready to meet with the republicans to help push the bill through.
Trey heads back to Kendra’s house to pick up his wallet that he accidentally left behind. When he arrives, he sees her front door open and a hole in a window. He searches the house and finds Kendra hiding in the bathroom.
Back at the White House, Trey and Kendra are telling the President, Ritter (LaMonica Garrett), and Detective Perreta what happened. Kirkman informs everyone he considers what happened to Kendra to be an attack against the White House which means Secret Service Agent Ritter will investigate it alongside Detective Perreta. Kirkman pulls Trey aside and, knowing that he spent the night with Kendra, reminds him it’s improper because she’s the White House legal counsel. He needs to end it.
Boone meets with West to let him know he’s being appointed special investigator to look into Moss. West agrees but says he’ll only look for the truth.
Aaron bails Wells out and tells her she’s being played by Valeria. He reminds her she can’t go rogue again because she’s on leave from the FBI. He also tells her she has to meet with West for the investigation. When Wells meets with West, he seems much more interested in her investigations and what she did for the President than looking into Moss.
Kirkman meets with the republicans about the bill and they do exactly what the democrats did, telling him he needs to pick a side and stop being an independent. The election is 16 months away and they want to know where he stands and if he’ll run. Frustrated, Kirkman ends the meeting.
Kendra’s in her office when she gets a call from a mysterious person threatening her and telling her to look into a case of an unsolved murder years ago or a broken-into house will be the least of her worries. Kendra fills Ritter and the detective in on the call, and they begin to look into it.
Chuck Russink (Jake Epstein) gets into his car and Wells is already in the back seat. After startling him, she says she needs a sounding board and goes over what happened at the house. Chuck points out that it’s obvious Valeria wants Wells out of the way.
West meets next with Aaron to go over everything that’s happened at the White House in the last few months, especially anything involving Agent Wells.
Chuck gets a call from Wells who tells him her apartment was ransacked. She knows that Valeria is after something and Chuck reminds her that all Rennett’s belongings are locked up at a secure location. Wells heads out to try to get access to Rennett’s things.
Kirkman has Seth put out a press release slamming both parties for playing politics and putting their parties over doing what’s right and passing the bill.
West meets with Moss who’s cool as a cucumber. Moss admits to passing along certain information but insists nothing he passed on was confidential. Afterward, Moss meets with Kirkman and warns him that if he does try to prosecute him, he’ll lay the blame for everything on Kirkman’s shoulders.
Ritter, Kendra, and the detective meet with the father of a suspect they’ve come up with looking into the unsolved murder case and believe he may be the shooter. The man tells Kendra she ruined his life and his family’s with the way she handled the case. She notices a photo of a bait and tackle store and later outside his house she and Ritter talk about how his son Mickey – their suspect – might be laying low there. Ritter and the detective go to check it out.
When Ritter and the detective arrive, they see Mickey using a chainsaw to cut logs. They flash their badges and he smiles and says, “Just a minute.” He bends down, puts the chainsaw down, and rises up firing a gun at them. Mickey runs into the woods and Ritter and the detective give chase. Mickey runs out of ammo and tackles the detective. He grabs her gun and is about to shoot her when Ritter shoots Mickey. He falls to the ground, dead.
Ritter and Kendra meet with Kirkman and bring him up to speed. Kendra believes the case to be closed and that Mickey blamed her for how she handled the case, broke into her home, and threatened her.
Boone meets with Kirkman and advises him that it’s time for him to pick a side and to decide if he’s going to run for another term as president. Instead, Kirkman says he’ll be staying an independent and to bring in senators from both parties.
Kirkman meets with the same leading senators and promises them if they do not sign off on the bill, he’ll tell the press and the public that both parties are putting partisanship over soldiers, the people, and what’s best for the country.
Later, Trey admits to Tom he has real feelings for Kendra and would find any excuse to be in the same room with her. Tom believes Trey should tell Kenra what he just told him and wishes him luck.
Kendra feels bad about how she prosecuted the case and how it led to the family’s downfall. Emily tries to cheer her up and tells her she can crash at her place since she doesn’t want to go home.
Wells meets with Aaron and pushes to get access to Rennett’s belongings. She says it’s about getting closure, and Aaron pulls a few strings and gets her five minutes. She finds a piece of paper about a rendezvous point among Rennett’s belongings and heads to the location. She sits on a bench and then examines it closer and finds a hidden flash drive. Later, she puts it in her computer and a video comes up of Rennett telling her if she’s watching this he’s probably dead. He gives her an address where he says his 16-year-old daughter is living and he’s convinced that Valeria will try to kill her. He begs Wells to keep her safe. Wells calls the airport and prepares to head to London.
West meets with the President and explains that although Moss might be arrogant, he sees no proof of leaking confidential information. However, he does believe Wells’ actions are suspect and there might be enough of a case to bring against Kirkman for political conspiracy.
Trey visits Kendra and is happy to hear they caught the guy. He begins to tell her how much he enjoyed the other night and Kendra closes the door and apologizes to Trey. She admits she doesn’t usually date and is worried that because they moved way too fast, she ruined it. She confesses she does like him. They agree to go on an official date.
Ritter rushes in and tells Kendra the killer who was put in witness protection was murdered. Mickey and his father used the whole scare tactic to flesh out the killer and murder him. Ritter says Kendra can’t go home, and Kendra remembers that Emily went to her home to pick up a few things for her while she stays with Emily. Kendra calls Emily who’s in Kendra’s house picking up her things. Emily starts to talk to Kendra when she’s shot by a sniper through a window.
Designated Survivor Season 2 Episode 21 Review:
Dramatic and occasionally surprising, episode 21 titled “Target” sees President Kirkman once again about to be investigated all too soon after the last investigation…yawn…and the possible death of one of the main characters of the show. (No, not Emily!)
There was a feeling of redundancy about the episode that overwhelmed the few surprising twists. The quick and unsurprising turn of events with West turning his investigation into another witch hunt to go after Kirkman plays out like a been-there-done-that repeat episode. The reveal of Rennett having a daughter who might be in danger is really not that interesting of a storyline for Agent Wells.
Perhaps the best scene in the episode is the one in which Moss and Kirkman face off and threaten to bring each other down. Even that scene, though, felt a little forced and contrived.
With Emily’s fate unknown and Moss about to throw his hat in the ring to run for the Oval Office, President Kirkman has an uphill fight ahead of him.
The CW’s The Flash season four episode 21 found Team Flash turning to an unlikely source for help in battling DeVoe. Amunet put in an appearance and before taking off to save herself, she handed the team a weapon to use against The Thinker. She also told Caitlin that the power to bring out Killer Frost lies within her.
Up next, season four episode 22 titled “Think Fast” airing on May 15, 2018. Episode 22 was directed by Viet Nguyen from a script by Sam Chalsen and Kristen Kim.
The “Think Fast” Plot: DAVID RAMSEY GUEST STARS — When DeVoe assaults an A.R.G.U.S. facility to complete his Enlightenment Machine, Barry (Gustin) realizes the only way he can stop him is if he allows Cisco (Valdes) and Caitlin (Panabaker) to accompany him into the facility. Still shaken by Ralph’s death, Barry isn’t sure he wants to risk any more of his friends’ lives and considers taking on DeVoe solo.

FX’s The Americans season six episode seven picks up immediately after Philip received a phone call from Elizabeth confessing she could use his help in Chicago. Henry (Keidrich Sellati) is snacking on Thanksgiving leftovers over at Stan’s place when Philip (Matthew Rhys) arrives to ask if Stan (Noah Emmerich) can watch over Henry. Henry will be heading back to school on Sunday and Philip’s happy Stan will let him come over for leftovers instead of staying home alone eating frozen pizza.
For the first time, Stan seems a little suspicious, but he can’t put his finger on what’s happening with Philip and Elizabeth. He reminds Philip they’re best friends, but all Philip will admit is that he’s worried about this work problem. Stan’s not really satisfied with that answer and reveals he used to question why Philip and Elizabeth would work until 3 or 4 am. He then asks the leading question: “Are you involved with something?”
Philip replies that the business might be going under. It’s been in bad financial shape for a while, and Philip apologizes for not telling Stan earlier. Stan assures Philip he’s there for him. Philip gives Stan a long hug before taking off.
As Philip walks away, Stan’s face reveals he’s not sure Philip has told him the complete story.
Philip, in disguise, makes it to Elizabeth’s hotel room in Chicago. The tension in their relationship is still obvious, but it’s also obvious Elizabeth (Keri Russell) is grateful Philip made the trip to help.
After grabbing a bite to eat, Philip fills Elizabeth in on his talk with Stan.
The next morning, Elizabeth and Philip walk the streets of Chicago, mapping out their plan. There won’t be a single hand-off point because FBI agents are all over “Harvest.” It will be very difficult to pull this off, but Elizabeth is more hopeful about the mission’s success with Philip involved.
Stan gives Henry a lift to his friend Brandon’s house and they talk about Brandon’s dad’s work. He’s in finance and they’re rich. Henry sounds jealous that Brandon’s mom is always there for him and would never miss a Thanksgiving dinner with her family. Henry also confirms (without being aware he’s backing up his dad’s story) that the business isn’t going well.
Stan continues to ask Henry questions about Philip and Elizabeth’s work, wondering if they’re often pulled away for emergencies. Henry confirms they are and that they’ll receive calls in the middle of the night that demand their immediate attention. Henry also says they never stay with family – in fact, they don’t even really have any.
Stan reminds him that Elizabeth spent some time with her sister, Helen. Henry forgot about that because he’s never actually met his aunt. He believes Paige might have met her at some point. (Stan’s spidey sense is definitely tingling.)
Back in their hotel room, Philip confesses he no longer has the feeling of pulling things off. Elizabeth reveals she went to Mexico and because of what she learned, she cannot be taken alive. She shows him the pill she’s carrying around inside her necklace. Elizabeth refuses to give him specifics on the meeting but does say the guy they’re rescuing in Chicago is also in on it.
Philip wants to flush the pill, but Elizabeth won’t hand it over.
The plan gets underway and Philip pulls up to a site where workers are looking for jobs. He asks for five men and has them pile in his truck.
Harvest is followed by multiple cars as he makes his way to work.
Elizabeth waits outside a parked shuttle bus with Philip in the driver’s seat. Marilyn (Amy Tribbey) is stationed nearby and signals when Harvest passes by her location. Elizabeth gets on the bus and her associates also spring into action.
The bus pulls alongside Harvest’s car on the street and a box truck pulls behind him, effectively blocking the view of anyone following Harvest. The workers Philip hired stop traffic in the street for construction work.
Harvest gets on the bus while one of the men Philip hired takes over Harvest’s place in the car.
The FBI agent pulls up to the car and realizes Harvest isn’t the driver. The agent instructs his team to look for a shuttle bus, a box truck, and a Jeep Wagoneer. Philip parks the bus and everyone piles into a van driven by Marilyn. The FBI attempts to stop the van and when Marilyn doesn’t comply, they shoot her in the head. Harvest is also shot during the ensuing exchange of gunfire, as are the FBI agents.
Harvest, bleeding from a bullet wound to the stomach, tells Philip he has messages to deliver. The first is for his mother. “I love you. I’m sorry I left like that. I thought of you every day. I never forgot what you did for me. Don’t be sad. I had a good life. An interesting life. I did what I wanted.”
The second message has to do with his mission. He reveals the sensor schematics are in France at an air base. He then adds a message for his dad who he apparently hates.
Elizabeth’s been driving this whole time and when Philip looks away from Harvest, he swallows his pill and dies quickly.
Philip and Elizabeth make it to a parking garage and steal a car. Philip grabs the fire ax on the wall and chops off Marilyn’s head and hands with Elizabeth’s help. The hands come off easily, but the head is more difficult to separate from her body and takes multiple swings.
They change clothes and then place the hands and head in their duffel bag. The van and the remainder of Marilyn’s body are left in the garage when they leave in the stolen car.
Back at the FBI office, Stan and Agent Dennis Aderholt (Brandon J. Dirden) look at photos of the dead agents as well as Harvest’s body and the headless woman. Dennis is upset and frustrated and finally agrees with Stan that everything they do turns to sh*t. Dennis, for the first time, really sounds defeated.

A while later, Dennis has recovered and gives his team a briefing. They’ve learned from the team in Chicago that the man in Harvest’s car was hired by a white man and a black man but then got on the shuttle bus with the same white man and a white woman. Stan looks concerned and asks when they’re getting sketches.
Philip and Elizabeth stop in the dark of night and throw the duffel bag into a river after Elizabeth weighs the bag down with rocks.
Stan arrives home after work but sits in his car in the dark. He looks across the street at the Jennings house and then decides to knock on their door. No one answers, and he makes his way around the house. He picks a lock and enters.
The house is dark as Stan walks through the living room, looking around. He looks at the family photos on the wall and recalls how William Crandall (Dylan Baker) told him about Russian spies with a couple of kids “living the American dream.” Crandall described the woman as pretty and said the man was lucky.
Stan continues to look around, going through drawers and even entering bedrooms and examining the electric panel. He doesn’t find anything out of the ordinary.
Philip and Elizabeth are in different disguises as they fly home. Elizabeth passes the time drawing, explaining to Philip someone’s making her learn.
They arrive home and Philip immediately calls Henry at school. He apologizes for not driving him back to school, but then Henry gets off the phone quickly because it’s late.
Elizabeth needs to leave again for work and she’ll be gone for at least 24 hours. She gently caresses Philip’s face before heading out.
Elizabeth arrives at Erica’s and shows off her latest drawings. Erica compliments the drawing and asks why she drew one particular image. Elizabeth doesn’t have an explanation and Erica tells her she needs to bring herself into the drawing. “If you do, there’s a moment when it’s not you seeing it, something comes through. You need to bring all yourself to it and then that lets you get out of your own way,” explains Erica, who’s in excruciating pain as she speaks.
Elizabeth wants to give her a shot of morphine but Erica refuses, saying she has to work.
Back at the FBI building, Dennis stands in front of one of the boards with photos and maps. He’s tired and hasn’t slept, but aware enough to be interested in a box of items Stan’s brought in. Stan reminds him that six years ago they had a Philly FBI team on a wife of a deceased illegal. She disappeared and they never found her.
Philip’s at the travel agency when Elizabeth shows up unexpectedly. She’s still supposed to be at work but wanted to make sure Philip’s okay. She tells him she’ll be heading to Paige’s later to tell her about Marilyn, and then finally realizes Stavos isn’t there. Philip confirms he had to let Stavos and two other employees go.
That evening Paige and Elizabeth take a walk in the rain. Elizabeth tells her the man they went to retrieve in Chicago died and so did Marilyn. Elizabeth admits the whole mission went south and that sometimes these things do happen. She then asks Paige to make a decision and commit to this work or get out. It’s a commitment for life and Paige says she understands. Elizabeth asks if Paige is willing to give up friends and even her life if necessary. Paige admits she doesn’t really have friends. Paige also says she’s not afraid to die. She’s only afraid of being alone, but that maybe someday she’ll meet someone.
Elizabeth believes Philip made a mistake committing to this life. She wants her daughter to understand this is forever. Elizabeth reminds her it’s okay not to want to follow in her footsteps, but Paige is certain this is what she’s always wanted. She just wants to make a difference.
Elizabeth decides now is the time for Paige to apply for an internship at the State Department.
Philip, home alone, remembers exchanging vows with Elizabeth.
