Little Richard: I Am Everything (2023) (CNN Films/Max Original)
The Max Original Little Richard: I Am Everything from CNN Films tells the story of the Black queer origins of rock n’ roll, exploding the whitewashed canon of American pop music to reveal the innovator – the originator – Richard Penniman. Through a wealth of archive and performance that brings us into Richard’s complicated inner world, the film unspools the icon’s life story with all its switchbacks and contradictions. In interviews with family, musicians, and cutting-edge Black and queer scholars, the film reveals how Richard created an art form for ultimate self-expression, yet what he gave to the world he was never able to give to himself. Throughout his life, Richard careened like a shiny cracked pinball between God, sex and rock n’ roll. The world tried to put him in a box, but Richard was an omni being who contained multitudes – he was unabashedly everything.

Director Cecilia Aldarondo looks back on her adolescence and examines how experiences from high school continue to impact her life in the documentary You Were My First Boyfriend. HBO’s released the first trailer for what’s described as a hybrid documentary that features recreations of key events from Aldarondo’s past.
“What if you could rewrite your adolescence? In this high school reunion movie turned inside out, filmmaker Aldarondo embarks on a fantastical quest to reconcile her tortured teen years. She revisits some of her most formative – and at times cringeworthy – childhood experiences, tracking down old crushes and reenacting visceral memories of youthful humiliation and desire, at times playing the role of her younger self and casting teenagers to play the kids in her life who still haunt her,” reads HBO’s synopsis. “Oscillating between present and past, humor and heartbreak, You Were My First Boyfriend is a hybrid documentary that takes seriously the power of adolescence and the way time impacts memories, exploring what it means to grow up and make peace with the drama of our teenage trauma.”
Aldarondo wrote, produced, and directed the documentary, with Sarah Enid Hagey co-directing, writing, and editing. Ines Hofman Kanna produced, and HBO’s Nancy Abraham, Lisa Heller, and Sara Rodriguez serve as executive producers.
Joining Aldarondo in front of the camera are Melissa Baker, Sarah Baker Butterfield, Laura Gallegos, Gabriel Kristal, Joel Pickering, and Jo Anne Taylor (as themselves). The cast also includes Trinity Soos, Hannah Whipple, Xander Black, Maya Karp, Ella Marie Fraley, Delanie Nicole Gill, Erica Kaylee Gouldthorpe, Isabella Rivera Gandulla, and Cole Donaldson.
You Were My First Boyfriend will premiere on November 8, 2023 at 9pm ET/PT.

Chris Pine isn’t a singer but he tries his best to handle a Disney tune with “This Is The Thanks I Get?!” from Wish. The studio released a minute-long clip of Pine’s animated character, King Magnifico, performing the song. As an added bonus, Disney also released a behind-the-scenes video of Pine singing alongside clips of King Magnifico.
Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Julia Michaels and Grammy-winning producer/songwriter/musician Benjamin Rice wrote “This Is The Thanks I Get?!” as well as six additional original songs for the family-friendly animated film.
“We just had a blast with it,” said Wish director Chris Buck, commenting on Pine’s new villain song. “The visuals are terrific — he’s the King and he feels like nobody respects him. It’s been a while since we’ve had a good villain song, so Julia and Ben just went for it.”
Added director Fawn Veerasunthorn, “We’d provide a rough version of the script [to Julia and Ben] and they’d go away for a while and come back with a song. Their songs inspired us. For ‘This Is The Thanks I Get?!’ we knew we wanted Magnifico to be charming and, of course, evil. He’s also funny! In the song, he cracks jokes — he’s narcissistic. But it’s all tongue-in-cheek, and he’s still somehow completely likable, which is great for a villain.”
In addition to Chris Pine as Magnifico, the voice cast includes Oscar winner Ariana DeBose as Asha and Alan Tudyk as Asha’s favorite goat, Valentino. Angelique Cabral is Queen Amaya, Victor Garber voices Sabino, Natasha Rothwell is Sakina, Jennifer Kumiyama is Dahlia, and Evan Peters voices Simon.
Harvey Guillén lends his voice to Gabo, Ramy Youseff is Safi, Niko Vargas is Hal, Della Saba is Bazeema, and Jon Rudnitsky voices Dario.

The Plot, Courtesy of Walt Disney Animation Studios:
With a nod to Walt Disney’s musical legacy as the company marks 100 years, Walt Disney Animation Studios Wish welcomes audiences to the magical kingdom of Rosas, where Asha, a sharp-witted idealist, makes a wish so powerful that it is answered by a cosmic force — a little ball of boundless energy called Star. Together, Asha and Star confront a most formidable foe — the ruler of Rosas, King Magnifico — to save her community and prove that when the will of one courageous human connects with the magic of the stars, wondrous things can happen.
Wish is set to open in theaters on November 22, 2023. The soundtrack will drop on November 17th.

FX offers this description of season five:
The latest installment of Fargo is set in Minnesota and North Dakota, 2019. After an unexpected series of events lands Dorothy “Dot” Lyon (Temple) in hot water with the authorities, this seemingly typical Midwestern housewife is suddenly plunged back into a life she thought she had left behind.
North Dakota Sheriff Roy Tillman (Hamm) has been searching for Dot for a long time. A rancher, preacher, and a constitutional lawman, Roy believes that he is the law and therefore is above the law. At his side is his loyal but feckless son, Gator (Keery), who is desperate to prove himself to his larger-than-life father. Too bad he’s hopeless. So when it comes to hunting Dot, Roy enlists Ole Munch (Spruell), a shadowy drifter of mysterious origin.
With her deepest secrets beginning to unravel, Dot attempts to shield her family from her past, but her doting, well-meaning husband Wayne (Rysdahl) keeps running to his mother, Lorraine Lyon (Jason Leigh), for help. CEO of the largest Debt Collection Agency in the country, the “Queen of Debt” is unimpressed with her son’s choice in a wife and spares no opportunity to voice her disapproval. However, when Dot’s unusual behavior catches the attention of Minnesota Police Deputy Indira Olmstead (Moorjani) and North Dakota Deputy Witt Farr (Morris), Lorraine appoints her in-house counsel and primary advisor, Danish Graves (Foley), to aid her daughter-in-law.
Afterall, family is family. But Dot has an uncanny knack for survival. And with her back to the wall, she’s about to show why one should never provoke a mother Lyon.
