Stephanie Nogueras (Killing It), Megan Boone (The Blacklist), Aaron Ashmore (Ginny & Georgia), Joshua M. Castille (Reverse Polarity), Lauren Ridloff (The Walking Dead), and Jean-Michel Le Gal (Paris Paris) star. Three-time Emmy Award winner Howard Gordon (24, Homeland) developed the series based on the BBC series created by Jimmy McGovern.

“Ava’s Story” Plot: After a married couple discovers their newborn is Deaf, they elect to try a surgical procedure. But when their surrogate – who also happens to be Deaf – learns the news, she feels she has no choice but to intervene.

The Plot:

Accused is a collection of 15 intense, topical, and exquisitely human stories of crime and punishment. Each episode is a fast-paced provocative thriller exploring a different crime, in a different city, with an entirely original cast. Based on the BBC’s BAFTA-winning crime anthology, each episode opens in a courtroom on the defendant, with viewers knowing nothing about their crime or how they ended up on trial.

Told from the defendant’s point of view through flashbacks, the show holds a mirror up to current times with evocative and emotional stories. In the end, audiences will discover how an ordinary person gets caught up in extraordinary circumstances and how one impulsive decision can impact the course of that life – and the lives of others — forever.

Jimmy Kimmel Celebrates a Milestone with a Special Primetime Episode

Jimmy Kimmel Live
Jimmy Kimmel hosts ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ (ABC/Randy Holmes)

Has it really been 20 years? Apparently so, and ABC’s celebrating the 20th anniversary of Jimmy Kimmel Live! with a special episode airing in primetime.

The anniversary episode will air on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at 10pm ET/PT with the late-night show’s original lineup of guests on board to help Kimmel celebrate. George Clooney, Snoop Dogg, and Coldplay were Kimmel’s guests on the show’s first episode, which aired on January 26, 2003. (Coldplay’s Chris Martin will represent the group for the anniversary special.)

“20 years. I can’t believe it either,” said Kimmel. “It makes absolutely no sense.”

“As everybody might imagine, it feels like it went by in the blink of an eye and it also feels like it’s been going on since the Middle Ages,” said Kimmel, speaking with Variety. “But it definitely gives me a sense of accomplishment. Especially when you go back and watch some of the old shows and you’re like, ‘wow, this is very unprofessional.’ Those nights where we thought that was a pretty good show, we were extremely wrong!”

A repeat of the anniversary special will air during Jimmy Kimmel Live!‘s normal 11:35pm ET/PT timeslot.

The late-night talk show host recently extended his partnership with ABC, securing a home for the series through its 23rd season. Housed at the El Capitan Entertainment Centre in Hollywood, Jimmy Kimmel Live! is executive produced by Kimmel, Erin Irwin, Molly McNearney, Jennifer Sharron, and David Craig. Douglas DeLuca serves as co-executive producer.

‘Outlander’ Renewed for an Eighth and Final Season, and Prequel Greenlit

Starz delivered mixed news for fans of Outlander who are currently suffering through Droughtlander. The popular series based on Diana Gabaldon’s bestselling books has been renewed for season eight. Unfortunately, that eighth season will be the show’s final season.

In the one-minute video accompanying the renewal announcement, Sam Heughan notes that every good story has to come to an end. John Bell promises that the series will go out with a bang. The video also features clips from Outlander events, and Heughan and Caitriona Balfe profusely thanking the fans for being there for the series since episode one.

Season seven will consist of 16 episodes and is set to premiere this summer. Season eight will consist of 10 episodes.

The network also announced they’ve greenlit the prequel series Outlander: Blood of My Blood with Matthew B. Roberts, Ronald D. Moore, and Maril Davis executive producing. The prequel will focus on the lives and relationship of Jamie Fraser’s parents, Brian Fraser and Ellen MacKenzie. Outlander showrunner Roberts will be serving as showrunner on the prequel and will write the 10-episode series.

Outlander: Blood of My Blood is, at its heart, a love story. It will explore what lengths a person will go to find love in a time when love is considered a luxury and when marriages are made strategically, often for political or financial gain,” stated Matthew B. Roberts, showrunner and executive producer. “The title is a nod to Jamie Fraser’s marriage vow to Claire, and there will be several names and faces that Outlander fans will know and recognize. Jamie and Claire’s TV story may be coming to an end with season eight, but Diana is continuing on with their literary journey in her wonderful book series and is working diligently on book ten. With Jamie and Claire, and now Brian and Ellen, there is still so much more to come in the Outlander universe, and we cannot wait to continue sharing these stories with our dedicated fans.”

“For nearly a decade, Outlander has won the hearts of audiences worldwide and we’re pleased to bring Claire and Jamie’s epic love story to a proper conclusion,” said Kathryn Busby, President, Original Programming for STARZ. “But before we close this chapter, there is plenty of their passionate story to tell over the course of 26 new episodes and even more to explore of this dynamic world and its origin story. We’re thrilled to continue to partner with Matthew, Maril and Ronald and can’t wait to see where their alluring storytelling takes us next.”

Diana Gabaldon will be involved as a consulting producer.

Season seven stars Caitríona Balfe as Claire Fraser, Sam Heughan as Jamie Fraser, Sophie Skelton as Brianna MacKenzie, Richard Rankin as Roger MacKenzie, John Bell as Young Ian, David Berry as Lord John Grey, Caitlin O’Ryan as Lizzie Beardsley, and Paul Gorman as Josiah and Keziah Beardsley. Newcomers to the Outlander world include Charles Vandervaart as William Ransom, Izzy Meikle-Small as Rachel Hunter, and Joey Phillips as Denzell Hunter.

‘The Afterparty’ Season 2 Announces New Cast and Premiere Date

Season two of Apple TV+’s critically acclaimed comedy The Afterparty will premiere on Friday, April 28, 2023. The new season features returning cast members Tiffany Haddish, Sam Richardson, and Zoë Chao, along with a batch of new players who’ll be involved in a murder mystery.

Dave Franco played a rich douchebag pop star who was murdered at a high school reunion afterparty he hosted at his massive home in season one. Season two will focus on the events surrounding the murder of a groom at his wedding. The 10-episode new season will stick with season one’s format, with each episode told from a different character’s point of view via a specific film genre.

Joining in the fun for season two are Elizabeth Perkins, Zach Woods, Paul Walter Hauser, Poppy Liu, Anna Konkle, Jack Whitehall, Vivian Wu, John Cho, and Ken Jeong. Oscar winner Chris Miller created the series and serves as an executive producer along with his filmmaking partner Phil Lord and Emmy nominee Anthony King. Miller and King are the co-showrunners.

During a 2022 press conference, Phil Lord joked that they have “seven seasons and a movie worth of genres” in mind that they weren’t able to include in the first season. Miller mentioned he’d love to do a full-on film noir episode, but whether that made the cut for season two hasn’t been revealed.

If it were up to Tiffany Haddish, season two would include something magical. “I would love to have done fantasy…a Dungeons and Dragons episode, in particular. I love playing Dungeons and Dragons,” said Haddish.

Apple TV+ offered the following description of the upcoming season:

“In season two, a wedding is ruined when the groom is murdered and every guest is a suspect. Detective Danner (Haddish) returns to help Aniq (Richardson) and Zoë (Chao) solve whodunnit by questioning family members, star-crossed lovers, and business partners, and hearing each suspect’s retelling of the weekend, each with their own unique perspective and visual style.”

The first two episodes will be released on April 28th followed by one a week leading up to the June 23rd season finale.
