Adam Scott has taken on a role in CBS All Access’ upcoming The Twilight Zone series. According to the network’s official announcement, Scott will star in an episode titled “Nightmare at 30,000 Feet.”
The original The Twilight Zone aired an episode titled “Nightmare at 20,000 Feet ” in October 1963, based on the short story by Richard Matheson. The memorable episode starred William Shatner as Bob Wilson, a husband and father who’s the only passenger on board a flight to spot a creature on the plane’s wing. No one believes him, and he has a history of nervous breakdowns. Unable to convince anyone the flight’s in danger, Bob opens the emergency door and prepares to shoot the gremlin.
When the plane lands, there’s evidence on one of the engines that someone (or something) was attempting to wreck the plane.
CBS All Access’ The Twilight Zone has Jordan Peele handling the hosting duties and narrating the series. The original Twilight Zone series debuted on October 2, 1959 with Rod Serling as host and narrator.
A Look Back at The Twilight Zone, Courtesy of CBS:
“The original The Twilight Zone took viewers to another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound, but of mind. It was a journey into a wondrous land of imagination for five years on CBS, from 1959-1964. The godfather of sci-fi series, the show explored humanity’s hopes, despairs, prides and prejudices in metaphoric ways conventional dramas could not.”

CBS All Access scored a win with their revival of the Star Trek television franchise, Star Trek: Discovery. They followed up on that success with Star Trek: Short Treks, a series of shorts tied to Discovery. Now they’re delving back into the Star Trek world with a new animated comedy series, Star Trek: Lower Decks.
The series was developed by Emmy Award winner Mike McMahan (Rick and Morty) and has earned a two-season order straight off the bat.
“Mike won our hearts with his first sentence: ‘I want to do a show about the people who put the yellow cartridge in the food replicator so a banana can come out the other end.’ His cat’s name is Riker. His son’s name is Sagan. The man is committed,” said executive producer Alex Kurtzman. “He’s brilliantly funny and knows every inch of every Trek episode, and that’s his secret sauce: he writes with the pure, joyful heart of a true fan. As we broaden the world of Trek to fans of all ages, we’re so excited to include Mike’s extraordinary voice.”
Star Trek: Lower Decks spotlights the support crew of “one of Starfleet’s least important ships.” The series will be produced by CBS Eye Animation Productions, Secret Hideout, and Roddenberry Entertainment. Mike McMahan, Rod Roddenberry, Trevor Roth, Katie Krentz, Alex Kurtzman and Heather Kadin are on board as executive producers.
“We couldn’t have imagined a better creative team to work with on CBS All Access’ first original animated series than Mike McMahan, Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment,” said Julie McNamara, Executive Vice President, Original Content, CBS All Access. “Star Trek: Lower Decks is a fantastic complement to our growing lineup of original series and our ongoing expansion of the Star Trek universe on CBS All Access.”
Back in 2011, Mike McMahan showed off his love for all things Star Trek by creating a Twitter account that posted Star Trek: The Next Generation episode plots for a season of the series that didn’t actually exist. It was such a hit with Trekkie’s that McMahan wrote Star Trek: The Next Generation: Warped: An Engaging Guide to the Never-Aired 8th Season for Simon & Schuster.
“As a life-long Trekkie, it’s a surreal and wonderful dream come true to be a part of this new era of Star Trek,” explained executive producer Mike McMahan. “While Star Trek: Lower Decks is a half-hour, animated show at its core, it’s undeniably Trek – and I promise not to add an episode at the very end that reveals the whole thing took place in a training program.”
The CW’s Riverdale season three episode three continued the hunt for the Gargoyle King, with Jughead and Betty trying to decipher the connection between the Farm and Gryphons and Gargoyles. Hermoine, fed up with her father’s meddling, combined forces with Cheryl and Toni to give Hiram a taste of his own medicine.

The “Chapter Thirty-Nine: The Midnight Club” Plot: ANTHONY MICHAEL HALL AND MICHAEL CONSUELOS GUEST STAR IN A FLASHBACK TO RIVERDALE HIGH CIRCA 1992 — When Betty (Lili Reinhart) confronts Alice (Madchen Amick) about Gryphons and Gargoyles, Alice has no choice but to come clean about how she, along with a young Fred (KJ Apa), FP (Cole Sprouse), Hermoine (Camila Mendes), Hiram (guest star Michael Consuelos), Sierra (Ashleigh Murray), Penelope (Madelaine Petsch) and Tom (Casey Cott), played the game in the early 90’s – and how a shocking mystery has been plaguing them all ever since.
In the final trailer leading up to Bohemian Rhapsody‘s theatrical release, Rami Malek as Queen lead singer Freddie Mercury describes the band. “We’re four misfits who don’t belong together. We’re playing for other misfits who are the outcasts right at the back of the room who are pretty sure they don’t belong either. We belong to them.”
Mr. Robot‘s Rami Malek leads the cast that includes Gwilym Lee as Brian May, Ben Hardy as Roger Taylor, Joseph Mazzello as John Deacon, and Lucy Boynton as Mary Austin. Aidan Gillen, Aaron McCusker, Tom Hollander, Mike Myers, and Allen Leach are also featured in the musical biopic.
Bryan Singer retained credit as director. However, he was fired from the production before filming wrapped. Singer was let go after missing days of filming, and Dexter Fletcher was brought in to finish up the shoot. Fletcher will not be officially credited for the film and has moved on to directing another musical epic, Rocketman, starring Taron Egerton as Sir Elton John.
Anthony McCarten is credited with the screenplay. Graham King and Jim Beach served as producers.
20th Century Fox has set a November 2, 2018 theatrical release date.
The Plot:
“Bohemian Rhapsody is a foot-stomping celebration of Queen, their music and their extraordinary lead singer Freddie Mercury. Freddie defied stereotypes and shattered convention to become one of the most beloved entertainers on the planet. The film traces the meteoric rise of the band through their iconic songs and revolutionary sound. They reach unparalleled success, but in an unexpected turn Freddie, surrounded by darker influences, shuns Queen in pursuit of his solo career.
Having suffered greatly without the collaboration of Queen, Freddie manages to reunite with his bandmates just in time for Live Aid. While bravely facing a recent AIDS diagnosis, Freddie leads the band in one of the greatest performances in the history of rock music. Queen cements a legacy that continues to inspire outsiders, dreamers and music lovers to this day.”

Netflix has released a new two and a half minute trailer for the action drama, Outlaw King. The new trailer declares the film will tell the real story of how a rebel became a king. Said rebel is Robert the Bruce, played by Chris Pine (the Star Trek film franchise, Wonder Woman).
In addition to Chris Pine, the cast includes Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Nocturnal Animals), Florence Pugh (Lady Macbeth), Tony Curran (Sons of Anarchy), Stephen Dillane (Game of Thrones), Billy Howle (Dunkirk), James Cosmo (In Darkness), and Sam Spruell (The Bastard Executioner).
Outlaw King was shot in Scotland. David Mackenzie not only directed the action drama but also wrote the script along with Bash Doran (Boardwalk Empire), James MacInnes, Mark Bomback, and playwright David Harrower. Gillian Berrie and writer/director David Mackenzie served as producers. The behind the scenes team includes director of photography Barry Ackroyd, production designer Don Burt, costume designer Jane Petrie, and editor Jake Roberts.
Outlaw King was the Opening Night Film at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 6th. Critical reaction was mixed, with the Los Angeles Times’ Justin Chang saying, “The movie is a juicy slab of cinematic red meat, a symphony of mud, blood and viscera set to a soundtrack of thundering hoofbeats and howls of vengeance.” However, Variety’s Peter Debruge wasn’t as impressed. “Whatever its value as rabble-rousing historical reenactment, Outlaw King never quite compares to the many films it’s so keen to imitate, and in some cases outright quote,” writes Debruge.
Netflix will be releasing Outlaw King in limited theaters and on the streaming service on November 9, 2018.
The Plot:
“Outlaw King tells the untold, true story of Robert the Bruce who transforms from defeated nobleman to outlaw hero during the oppressive occupation of medieval Scotland by Edward I of England. Despite grave consequences, Robert seizes the Scottish crown and rallies an impassioned group of men to fight back against the mighty army of the tyrannical King and his volatile son, the Prince of Wales.”
It’s hard to believe it’s been 10 years since the sparkling vegetarian vampires hit the big screen in Twilight. The original film based on Stephenie Meyer’s bestselling series opened in theaters on November 21, 2008. Four films followed, with the movie adaptations ringing up over $3 billion worldwide over their theatrical runs.

In support of the 10th anniversary, Twilight cast members Kellan Lutz (‘Emmet Cullen’) and Jackson Rathbone (‘Jasper Cullen’) joined director Catherine Hardwicke at the 2018 New York Comic Con to reminisce about the supernatural love story. During our roundtable interview, Lutz recalled what it was like to be on the set of the first film and what defines the Twilight experience to him.
How does it feel to think it’s been 10 years since the first Twilight was released? Kind of freaky?
Kellan Lutz: “Yes, in a very… Because you look at your own life, even if you didn’t have as a benchmark a Twilight, from 23 to 33 just goes like that. And, it’s the journey. I’m just grateful. I’m more a journey person. Even with road trips, the destination’s fun but a lot of times you don’t know what the destination’s going to really to look like, you can’t picture it. Just like your life. Anyone can tell you in 10 years as an actor, you’re going to have this, you’re going to have that. But for me, as long as you’re enjoying it – that’s what Twilight’s been for me personally.
It’s been fun. Every aspect of it has just been so much fun, maybe minus the white makeup when we were shooting it, but all in all in 10 years looking back.
I have to ask myself is it from when the movies ended, but then that was only five years ago. So, it was when it first started and I was 23. I’m 33 right now. So, 23, I don’t remember much. I don’t. I was talking to my wife. You know, I got married nine months ago and looking back, it’s weird because I kind of wish I had Twilight now. I know I would have experienced it more.
I think when I was younger, not like I was partying more, it was a lot and it’s hard to grasp it at the age when you don’t have much to compare it to. Just like growing up. So now that I’m in my 30s if I had that I would know what to appreciate. And, I appreciated it all pretty evenly. But yeah, it’s the journey. I just can’t believe it’s gone [snapping his fingers] like that.”
Would you play him differently?
Kellan Lutz: “No, not at all. Because Emmet, how I played him…and again as you get older, you get more worries in your head and more stress in your head. I’m married. I don’t think I would have been able to play him as authentically joyful as I played him. Because in that time in my life in my 20s, I had very little responsibilities. I still have that childlike heart and mentality, but there’s a lot more responsibilities in life. There’s a lot more things that you’re thinking about that kind of dim that twinkle where you have to really turn life off and step in those shoes. And that’s acting, to be that character. But I played him so wholeheartedly Kellan with the attributes of Emmet that I took from the book.
Everything happens for a reason and I’m very grateful for that. I’m here today, 10 years later, reminiscing with Catherine and Jackson. And that’s the cool thing. I feel like she hasn’t aged a day, Jackson hasn’t. We could all play our characters again and look the exact same. That’s pretty cool.”
Do you feel there’s still more story to tell? Would you want to go back to play Emmet again?
Kellan Lutz: “For my character, definitely. I think he was the only one who wasn’t really touched on that much. Even with the excerpt of ‘Emmet and the Bear’ with how he turned into a vampire, you see the love story more. I definitely think Emmet…I barely did much in those movies. So, the stock that he got from being a part of it and the character himself and the couple lines he got to show his humor, went really far. I would of course love to have more Emmet, do another movie, do more origin story of how he came to be. That would be fun.”
Is there a moment that defines the Twilight experience for you?
Kellan Lutz: “I always go back to the first movie for all of us because we were all just so authentic with it. There’s so much truth with all the actors, and innocence. I think going back to it, the innocence was so pure. And then you have the Twilight fans that came out, and their moms. We all jumped on that roller coaster at the same time, holding hands, hands in the air like, ‘What are we doing?! What is this?’ And I really think Twilight paved the road for other adaptations like Hunger Games and… What was the one with Woodley?”
Divergent.
Kellan Lutz: “Divergent. Stuff like that that really took off. Those ones are great. But the first one when the Twilight moms came, working with Catherine, and also even with the studio. Like, it wasn’t a machine yet. You were able to make mistakes. You were able to laugh at yourself. There weren’t security guards on set. It was just fun. It was fun.
And, obviously with the success the studio had responsibilities. And then other people… We were young so a lot of people telling you who you should be or what you should be or who you can talk to or how you should be perceived. What press you should do. It got a little heavier responsibility-wise. But, for me, I loved it. I felt like I stayed the same.”
Most young adult adaptations aren’t as successful as Twilight. What do you think it is about the Twilight films that really captured the audiences the way it did?
Kellan Lutz: “Everything starts with the story and at the end of the day this was a beautiful love story between that shouldn’t and something that is. I think the fantasy of that. And, again, it had the innocence and purity of she loved Edward, it didn’t matter what he was. She didn’t judge him for anything. She just wanted to be seen, and she felt seen by him. He really did see her inside and out. So, I think the purity of it all and the love story, and the great story that it was.”
What are you working on now?
Kellan Lutz: “For me, I just love acting. I just finished What Men Want with Taraji P. Henson. I mean, when I watched Mel Gibson in What Women Want before I shot that movie I thought, ‘This is a brilliant movie. It is a really great, creative movie.’
And then working with Adam Shankman who I always wanted to be a part of his Step Up movies. I auditioned for the third one and didn’t get it, so working with him – I’ve been friends with him for a long time so when they brought this idea back with Taraji P. Henson being a sports agent, it’s really time relevant and just funny. It’s a really funny movie. I’m excited for that one to come out. They pushed it to Valentine’s Day which will be really good. So, I’m really proud of that one.
Then, I just do a lot of action movies. I love action. And, I got married so it’s a crazy life to be an actor because you can’t control anything for the most part. But what I can control is my life outside of the acting and with that having a best friend and finding a best friend to do life with, I’m lucky. I really am.”
Were you trying for the lead role in Step Up 3?
Kellan Lutz: “Yeah, Sharni Vinson got it and I think it was Rick (Malambri). I still would love to do a dance movie.”
Are you a good dancer?
Kellan Lutz: “I think I am. My wife and I go line dancing at InCahoots. It’s a little line dancing place down where she’s from. She’s a great dancer too.”
