The Idea of You‘s Nicholas Galitzine has signed on to star as He-Man in Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel’s Masters of the Universe live-action feature film. The Idea of You with Galitzine and Anne Hathaway ranks as Amazon MGM Studios’ number one romantic comedy debut and currently sits at 81% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.

Chris Butler is writing the screenplay and Travis Knight (Bumblebee) is on board to direct.

“We’re thrilled to bring the beloved Masters of the Universe to life and couldn’t be more excited to announce the immensely talented Nicholas Galitzine as our He-Man,” stated Julie Rapaport, head of film production and development at Amazon MGM Studios. “Joining forces with director Travis Knight, Mattel, and Escape Artists, this reintroduction of the character and his universe will be an epic film that will delight audiences from here to Eternia.”

Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel aren’t releasing any details on the plot. However, they did confirm they’re targeting a June 5, 2026 theatrical release.

“Mattel Films is proud to work with Amazon and team up again with the incredible Courtenay Valenti, to bring Masters of the Universe to the big screen,” said Robbie Brenner, president of Mattel Films. “We are thrilled to be producing alongside the highly respected and prolific Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, and Steve Tisch, with the visionary Travis Knight, and the charismatic and talented Nicholas Galitzine, our Prince Adam/He-Man!”

Nicholas Galitzine’s credits include Mary & George, Red, White & Royal Blue, Bottoms, Cinderella, Purple Hearts, and The Beat Beneath My Feet. Galitzine will be reprising his role as Prince Henry in the Red, White & Royal Blue sequel.

Per Mattel: “Masters of the Universe was first introduced to the world in 1982 through a line of popular action figures. In 1983, the treasured animated series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe premiered and became one of the first children’s programs to be syndicated on television. From inception, the MOTU brand was built upon the message of becoming the best version of oneself and today, the franchise spans a variety of consumer touchpoints across toys, television, video games, and more.”

‘A Family Affair’ Trailer: Zac Efron and Nicole Kidman Star in a May-December Romance

Netflix’s A Family Affair romantic comedy arrives hot on the heels of Prime Video’s The Idea of You. Both films feature May-December romances, with The Idea of You starring Nicholas Galitzine as a pop star and Anne Hathaway as the December half of the romance. In A Family Affair, Zac Efron (the May) is a movie star and it’s Nicole Kidman (the December) who falls hard despite her daughter’s dismay.

The trailer introduces the setup, with Joey King playing Kidman’s daughter who happens to be Efron’s character’s assistant. The cast also includes Liza Koshy and Kathy Bates.

“A surprising romance kicks off comic consequences for a young woman, her mother, and her movie star boss as they face the complications of love, sex, and identity,” reads Netflix’s synopsis.

Oscar nominee Richard LaGravenese (Best Original Screenplay, The Fisher King) directed from a screenplay by Carrie Solomon. Speaking with Netflix’s Tudum, LaGravenese talked about how he views the story. “I saw in it a coming-of-age story for three different characters at three different stages of their lives,” said LaGravenese. “I was going through my own sort of transition into what Gail Sheehy called Second Adulthood, where after you’ve fulfilled all your expectations and you’ve been what you need to be for everyone else, and you’ve achieved something and children are grown and all that stuff, you get a chance of being who you are and the things that you lost along the way.”

Joe Roth and Jeff Kirschenbaum produced the romantic comedy, and Michelle Morrissey, Alyssa Altman, and Carrie Solomon serve as executive producers.

A Family Affair will premiere on Netflix on June 28, 2024.

‘Interview with the Vampire’ Season 2 Episode 4 Preview

We’re approaching Interview with the Vampire season two episode four and about the only negative comments from fans thus far this season have to do with one specific issue. Fans are upset that AMC hasn’t already officially announced the show’s been renewed for season three. The viewership numbers aren’t quite as high as season one, but AMC’s commitment to bringing Anne Rice’s work to life on screen should be enough to warrant a third season.

Episode three ended with Claudia shocked to learn the coven is only going to allow her to play a child on stage, at least for the next 50 years. The fourth episode will further explore Claudia’s reaction to being forced into playing young. Episode four, “I Want You More Than Anything in the World,” premieres on Sunday, June 2, 2024 at 9pm ET/PT.

The episode four plot: “The coven questions Louis and Armand’s special relationship; Claudia finds a new friend.”

The season two cast is led by Jacob Anderson as Louis de Pointe du Lac, Eric Bogosian as Daniel Molloy, and Assad Zaman as Armand. Sam Reid stars as Lestat de Lioncourt, Ben Daniels is Santiago, and Delainey Hayles takes over the role of Claudia.

Picking up from the bloody events in New Orleans in 1940 when Louis and teen fledgling Claudia (Hayles) conspired to kill the Vampire Lestat de Lioncourt (Reid), Louis tells of his adventures in Europe, a quest to discover Old World Vampires and the Theatre Des Vampires in Paris, with Claudia.

It is in Paris that Louis first meets the Vampire Armand (Zaman). Their courtship and love affair will prove to have devastating consequences both in the past and in the future, and Molloy will probe to get to the truths buried within the memories.

‘We Are Lady Parts’ Season 2 Preview: Trailer, Photos, Cast and Plot Details

Peacock’s We Are Lady Parts season one made our Top 10 Best New Shows of 2021 list and now finally, three years later, we get to catch up with the all-female Muslim punk band that made fans out of millions of viewers. All six episodes of the much-anticipated second season will premiere on Peacock on May 30, 2024.

“Season two of We Are Lady Parts sees the band return with a renewed artistic mission after the high of their first UK tour, only to find a rival band threatens their delicate status quo,” reads Peacock’s season two synopsis. “As the reality of chasing success sets in, Lady Parts embarks on recording their first album, juggling personal ambitions and deciding whether ‘making it big’ is really what they want.”

The critically acclaimed comedy stars Anjana Vasan as Amina Hussain, Sarah Kameela Impey as Saira, Juliette Motamed as Ayesha, and Faith Omole as Bisma. Lucie Shorthouse is Momtaz, Zaqi Ismail plays Ahsan, Aiysha Hart is Noor, and Shobu Kapoor is Seema. Activist Malala Yousafzai and Meera Syal guest star.

Nida Manzoor created the series and serves as writer, director, and executive producer. Additional executive producers include Surian Fletcher-Jones, Tim Bevan, and Eric Fellner.

“In season two, we explore the interior lives of each of the women in more depth. Each of them facing new, existential challenges with all the silliness, pratfalls and banter of season one,” said Manzoor in a statement describing the new season. “The music is bigger too – more wild original tunes (penned by me and my siblings) and dare I say it, even better covers. The season overall asks the question of success. What is success? For a punk band – is fame, stadium shows and major record deals the answer? I wanted to explore the uncomfortable tension between art and commerce and ask how much compromise is too much. I’m really proud of what we achieved, and can’t wait to share it with old fans and new.”

We Are Lady Parts is a Working Title Television (WTTV) production.
