NBC’s given a series order to the medical drama Dr. Wolf, with Zachary Quinto (Star Trek film franchise, American Horror Story) on board to star. The one-hour drama, inspired by Oliver Sacks’ books The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat (1985) and An Anthropologist on Mars (1995), doesn’t have a targeted premiere date as of yet.
In addition to Zachary Quinto, confirmed cast members include Tamberla Perry (They Cloned Tyrone), Ashleigh LaThrop (The Kominsky Method), Alexander MacNicoll (The Society), Aury Krebs (Way Down), Spence Moore II (The Wonder Years), and Teddy Sears (The Flash).
“Inspired by Oliver Sacks’ extraordinary life and work, Dr. Wolf follows revolutionary, larger-than-life neurologist Oliver Wolf (Quinto) and his team of interns as they explore the last great frontier — the human mind — while also grappling with their own relationships and mental health,” reads NBC’s official synopsis.
Michael Grassi (Riverdale) is guiding the series as writer and executive producer, with Lee Toland Krieger (You) directing the pilot and executive producing. Berlanti Productions’ Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Leigh London Redman are involved as executive producers along with Fabel Entertainment’s Henrik Bastin and Melissa Aouate. DeMane Davis and The Imaginarium’s Andy Serkis, Jonathan Cavendish, and Will Tennant also executive produce.

The promo for Showtime’s Billions season seven episode 12 warns that “all will go down” and that fans should prepare for an epic final showdown. Who will emerge victorious? It’s got to be Axe, doesn’t it? All questions will be answered with episode 12, the season – and series – finale streaming on Paramount+ with Showtime on Friday, October 27, 2023.

The British comedy Everyone Else Burns makes its US television debut on The CW on October 26, 2023 at 9:30pm ET/PT. The half-hour series starring Simon Bird and Kate O’Flynn will be part of the network’s Thursday night comedy block that includes Son of a Critch, Run the Burbs, and Children Ruin Everything.
Bird (The Inbetweeners) stars as David Lewis, O’Flynn (Landscapers) plays Fiona, Amy James-Kelly (Military Wives) is Rachel, and Harry Connor is Aaron. Dillon Mapletoft and Oliver Taylor created the series and serve as writers and executive producers. JAX Media’s Tony Hernandez and Brooke Posch also executive produce.
“Blessings be upon the Lewises: a strictly religious family who believe the world will end within the decade. Patriarch David longs for the church to promote him. Long-suffering Fiona hungers for a life beyond sermons and squash. Aaron is a model young believer — except his drawings feature the rest of the family burning in hell,” reads The CW’s synopsis. “And anxious 17-year-old Rachel is about to fall for someone who could save her social life, but also damn her soul.”
The series premiere was directed by Nick Collett from a script by Mapletoft and Taylor.
In a January 2023 interview with British Comedy Guide, Mapletoft explained why he and Taylor believed setting a sitcom in the world of a doomsday cult would be a great idea.
“We loved the combination of naturally high narrative stakes. Because if you’re extremely religious, everyday scenarios mean different things to you,” said Mapletoft. “Things other people wouldn’t have a second thought about. So high stakes in terms of life and death, Heaven and Hell. But also a new perspective on coming-of-age moments that hopefully we can all identify with. When you’re brought up in that environment, it can give you a different sort of lens.”
Mapletoft added: “We went on a writing retreat and started talking about different aspects of my upbringing. We borrowed a few moments that were meaningful to me and created this fictional group we could tailor for the most comic potential. It felt like a great prism to make the show as funny as possible.”
Oscar nominee Ron Nyswaner (Philadelphia) brings Thomas Mallon’s 2007 bestselling novel Fellow Travelers to life in a Showtime limited series starring Matt Bomer (The Normal Heart) and Jonathan Bailey (Bridgerton). The first episode of the eight-episode season will stream on Friday, October 27, 2023 on Paramount+ with Showtime before premiering on Showtime on October 29 at 9pm ET/PT.
“Bomer plays charismatic Hawkins Fuller, who maintains a financially rewarding, behind-the-scenes career in politics. Hawkins avoids emotional entanglements—until he meets Tim Laughlin (Bailey), a young man who’s brimming with idealism and religious faith. They begin a romance just as Joseph McCarthy and Roy Cohn declare war on ‘subversives and sexual deviants,’ initiating one of the darkest periods in 20th-century American history,” reads Showtime’s synopsis.
“Over the course of four decades, we follow our five main characters – Hawk, Tim, Marcus (Jelani Alladin), Lucy (Allison Williams), and Frankie (Noah J. Ricketts) – as they cross paths through the Vietnam War protests of the 1960s, the drug-fueled disco hedonism of the 1970s and the AIDS crisis of the 1980s while facing obstacles in the world and within themselves.”

Author Thomas Mallon’s official website features an excerpt of an interview Mallon did with Littoral back in 2008. One of the key questions involves the origin of the main characters, Hawkins Fuller and Tim Laughlin.
“Fuller and Laughlin aren’t based on any particular historical figures. Both contain bits and pieces of people I’ve known in my own life, which makes them like the characters one finds being created by just about any novelist of the non-historical sort,” stated Mallon. “In this regard, though, one thing in particular interested me about Laughlin. When I started to make notes on him, the first thing I put down was ‘Date of birth: November 2, 1931′ – exactly twenty years earlier than mine. I realized that, in some ways, I was going to be writing about what my own life might have been like had I been born two decades earlier.”
The limited series’ behind-the-scenes team includes executive producers Robbie Rogers (All American), Dee Johnson, series star Matt Bomer, and series creator/showrunner Ron Nyswaner. Executive producer Daniel Minahan (Halston, American Crime Story: Versace) directed episodes one and two.

After Dr. Bishop’s (John Hannah) sudden departure, the team gains a new boss with the forward-thinking Dr. Neeta Devi. Dr. Devi has big ideas when it comes to overhauling the emergency department at York Memorial.

Netflix’s Society of the Snow recounts the harrowing true story of the 1972 plane crash in the Andes that killed 16 people on impact and left 29 passengers struggling to survive in an inhospitable environment. The second one-minute teaser shows the moments before the plane carrying Uruguay’s Old Christians Club rugby team crashed into the mountains.
Director J.A. Bayona (The Impossible, A Monster Calls) co-wrote the screenplay with Bernat Vilaplana, Jaime Marques, and Nicolás Casariego, based on the book by Pablo Vierci. Speaking with Netflix, Bayona described his path to making the film.
“I discovered the book while we were preparing The Impossible, and I immediately thought that I wanted to make it into a film,” said Bayona. “We put the project together over a period of more than 10 years, developing an approach to the story while working closely with Pablo Vierci.”
Society of the Snow is Spain’s Best International Film entry for the 2024 Academy Awards and will open in limited theatrical release in December 2023. The film will begin streaming on Netflix on January 4, 2024.

Country star and occasional Yellowstone actor Lainey Wilson will be heading out on a 35+ date North America tour beginning on June 14, 2024 in Camden, New Jersey. Wilson will be accompanied by Jackson Dean, Ian Munsick, and Zach Top on her “Country’s Cool Again Tour,” produced by Live Nation.
Wilson’s 2024 tour will make stops in cities including New York, Los Angeles, Lake Tahoe, Lubbock, Pittsburgh, and Little Rock. The tour will wrap up on November 15, 2024 in Monroe, LA.
“Nothing gets me buzzin’ like putting on a show and singing along with the crowd,” said Wilson. “I want to give a big thank you to all of the fans who have continuously showed up and showed out this year. We can’t wait to see you nationwide on the ‘Country’s Cool Again Tour!’”

Could Oscar winner Emma Stone (La La Land) be back in the Oscar hunt with Searchlight Pictures’ Poor Things? According to critics who’ve caught festival screenings, the answer is a resounding yes.
“From filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos and producer Emma Stone comes the incredible tale and fantastical evolution of Bella Baxter (Stone), a young woman brought back to life by the brilliant and unorthodox scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter (Willem Dafoe). Under Baxter’s protection, Bella is eager to learn. Hungry for the worldliness she is lacking, Bella runs off with Duncan Wedderburn (Mark Ruffalo), a slick and debauched lawyer, on a whirlwind adventure across the continents,” reads Searchlight Pictures’ synopsis. “Free from the prejudices of her times, Bella grows steadfast in her purpose to stand for equality and liberation.”
The film marks the second feature film collaboration between director Yorgos Lanthimos and actor Emma Stone. Their first, The Favourite, earned 10 Oscar nominations including one for Stone in the Best Supporting Actress category and one for Lanthimos as Best Director. Olivia Colman was named Best Actress for her performance in the 2018 film.
Stone and Lanthimos discussed Poor Things while making The Favourite, but it took a while for production to actually get underway.
“It’s such a fairy tale, and a metaphor — clearly, this can’t actually happen — but the idea that you could start anew as a woman, as this body that’s already formed, and see everything for the first time and try to understand the nature of sexuality, or power, or money or choice, the ability to make choices and live by your own rules and not society’s — I thought that was a really fascinating world to go into,” said Stone, describing the appeal of playing Bella in an interview with Vogue.
The cast also includes Ramy Youssef, Jerrod Carmichael, Christopher Abbott, Margaret Qualley, Suzy Bemba, Kathryn Hunter, Vicki Pepperdine, and Hanna Schygulla. Lanthimos directed from a screenplay by Tony McNamara, adapted from Scottish writer Alasdair Gray’s 1992 of the same name. Ed Guiney, Andrew Lowe, Lanthimos, and Stone served as producers.
Poor Things will open in theaters no December 8, 2023.
There’s a good reason most of the photos released in advance of NBC’s Magnum PI season five episode 14 feature Jay Hernandez and Zachary Knighton. The photos show Rick and Magnum in action, and that’s because episode 14 will find Rick subbing in for Higgins. “Night Has a Thousand Eyes” is set to air on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at 9pm ET/PT.

Magnum P.I. is a modern take on the classic series centering on Thomas Magnum, a decorated former Navy SEAL who, upon returning home from Afghanistan, repurposes his military skills to become a private investigator. A charming rogue, an American hero and a die-hard Detroit Tigers fan, Magnum lives in a guest cottage on Robin’s Nest, the luxurious estate where he works as a security consultant to supplement his P.I. business.
The “majordomo” of the property is Juliet Higgins, a beautiful and commanding disavowed MI:6 agent whose second job is to keep Magnum in line, with the help of her two Dobermans. When Magnum needs backup on a job, he turns to his trusted buddies and fellow POW survivors Theodore ‘TC’ Calvin, a former Marine chopper pilot who runs Island Hoppers, a helicopter tour business, and Orville “Rick” Wright, a former Marine door-gunner-turned-impresario of Oahu’s coolest nightclub and the most connected man on the island.

It’s been nearly 30 years since Dr. Sam Beckett stepped into the Quantum Leap accelerator and vanished. Now, a new team, led by physicist Ben Song (Raymond Lee), has been assembled to restart the project in the hope of understanding the mysteries behind the machine and the man who created it.
Everything changes, however, when Ben makes an unauthorized leap into the past, leaving the team behind to solve the mystery of why he did it. At Ben’s side throughout his leaps is Addison (Bassett), who appears in the form of a hologram only Ben can see and hear. She’s a decorated Army veteran who brings level-headed precision to her job.
At the helm of the highly confidential operation is Herbert “Magic” Williams (Hudson), a no-nonsense career military man who has to answer to his bosses who won’t be happy once they learn about the breach of protocol. The rest of the team at headquarters includes Ian Wright (Park), who runs the Artificial Intelligence unit “Ziggy,” and Jenn Chu (Lee), who heads up digital security for the project.
