FX’s Mayans M.C. season four episode six doesn’t make fans wait long for confirmation that Coco is, in fact, dead. Marcus (Emilio Rivera) receives a late-night phone call and gathers the club to discuss what went down. Canche’s also present at the Santo Padre meeting as Tranq (Frankie Loyal) reveals there are five dead and four in the ICU. Among the dead is Coco.

There’s a brief moment of silence as they absorb the news and then Gilly (Vincent Vargas) screams, “F**k!” which pretty much sums up what everyone’s thinking.

Canche wonders if El Banquero did it as payback for Randall’s murder but Tranq is on the right track when he suggests it was the Sons of Anarchy. Marcus is confused as to why Charming would go after them now, months after the Mayans hit them in San Bernardino.

Happy’s name is brought up and EZ (JD Pardo) declares, “F**k Happy. And f**k every Son.”

EZ doesn’t trust anyone, including some of those from other charters seated at the table. EZ tosses around accusations and Marcus suggests Canche head back to Yuma and take care of his own charter.

After Canche leaves, Marcus reminds EZ he’s the VP and needs to keep his temper in check. He doesn’t want to start a war, but EZ believes they’re already in one.

Marcus wants everyone to be patient, but that approach isn’t going over well with the guys.

EZ heads back to his trailer in time to see Sofia (Andrea Cortés) getting dressed to leave. They have an awkward morning-after conversation and EZ tells her he’s glad she spent the night. Sofia replies, “Jury’s still out for me.”

In Mexico, Miguel (Danny Pino) digs a grave for young Tomas and then grabs a quick shower. His aunt the nun pays him a visit and tells him it’s time to go. Miguel is hesitant to leave but his aunt explains Martin will be tortured by the LNG and he’ll give up Miguel’s location. She offers him Martin’s clothes and suggests he make plans to move out as soon as possible.

Miguel retrieves his cell phone and makes a call. All he says is, “It’s time.”

Jess (Grace Rizzo) meets with her sister, Jazmine (Zhaleh Vossough), and she’s incredibly upset. She knows Coco’s dead and has realized it happened because of what she told the Sons VP, Terry. She had no idea anyone would die. Jaz reminds her the cut she found in the barrel was from a dead Son and that the Mayans started this war.

Jess wants out but her sister orders her to stay with the Mayans and let SoA know when she sees them getting ready to retaliate.

Angel (Clayton Cardenas) joins Gilly at the bar in the clubhouse and Gilly’s taking Coco’s death harder than the rest of them. Angel thinks someone should check in on Coco’s daughter, Letty, and “what’s her name.” The fact Angel doesn’t know Hope’s name pisses Gilly off, but it’s obvious he’s in no condition to get on his bike.

Angel volunteers to check on Letty and promises Gilly they’ll be there for her.

Tranq informs Marcus the survivors in Oakland recognized the guys who ambushed them as SoA. They didn’t hide their faces but they weren’t wearing their cuts. Marcus asks Tranq to keep this news quiet for now. He wants to figure out what started this before they fight back.

EZ finds Marcus outside working on his bike and Marcus claims not to know who did the hit. He really doesn’t want to go to war and can’t stand the thought of more dead Mayan brothers. He’s making it sound as though he’s going to land on the side of holding back, but EZ is adamant they can’t let this slide.

Marcus takes the blame for Coco’s death since he sent him to Oakland. He promises EZ that blood will be shed, but he hasn’t decided how much of that blood will be Mayans.

Meanwhile, Nails (Justina Adorno) decides to finish painting the baby’s room. She moves a ladder and then a short while later notices a drop of blood in the paint tray. She jumps in the shower and it’s apparent the bleeding has gotten worse.

Nails is in pain as she slowly makes her way to the front door. She looks back and sees a trail of blood droplets while speaking out loud to her unborn child, assuring him everything will be okay.

Fortunately, Felipe (Edward James Olmos) has excellent timing and arrives at Angel’s place as Nails is attempting to open her car door. She believes the baby’s coming and Felipe gently helps her to his truck.

They make it to the hospital and Nails is rushed into surgery. She begs for someone to tell her what’s going on and then, thankfully, is knocked out.

No one answers at Coco’s place and Angel steps in to find it’s been trashed. Letty (Emily Tosta) did not take the news well and took it out on the furniture. He asks about Hope, but Letty doesn’t answer. Angel, who is definitely not the right man for this particular job, takes a seat on the couch and offers Letty some food. She’s amazed he brought her chicken nuggets as if she’s six. He points out he also brought her a cheeseburger.

Angel’s so uncomfortable in this assignment; he has no idea how to comfort Letty or even what to say.

Angel and Letty work on cleaning up the mess and setting the furniture back up. Letty picks up a blanket and holds it as she fully realizes Coco’s never coming back. Angel gives her a hug as she confesses it hurts so bad to know he’s gone for good.

Angel kisses the top of her head and Letty reacts by kissing Angel on the lips. He briefly pulls away but then he lets his penis do the thinking instead of his brain.

Afterward, he’s more awkward than ever when he suggests it’s time for him to go. “You good?” he asks, and Letty doesn’t respond. He then stumbles out a “we’re all here for you” sort of assurance and Letty sighs and then replies, “I’m good, Angel. I’m fine.” (She’s not.)

Felipe calls Angel but it goes straight to voicemail. He leaves a message telling his son to call him.

Nails, awake but tired, asks about her baby. The doctor explains she lost it and Felipe lays a comforting hand on her shoulder as she lies in her hospital bed. The doctor has the baby brought in after Nails indicates she wants to see him. It’s too much for Felipe and he turns away in sorrow.

Nails cradles her baby and says he’s beautiful.

Night’s fallen and EZ’s alone when he receives a call from an unknown number. He’s shocked to hear Emily (Sarah Bolger) on the other end of the line. She’s using a payphone and won’t tell him where she is or how she’s doing. Instead, she only remains on the call long enough to warn EZ he needs to be careful. Without spelling it out, she explains someone found her and asked about the favor he helped her with.

EZ calls the number back but Emily doesn’t pick up. Instead, she pulls up her hood and walks off into the night.

Everyone’s on edge so when EZ hears a motorcycle roaring up he pulls his gun out. Creeper (Joseph Raymond Lucero) and Tranq exit the clubhouse and provide backup, but it turns out the unexpected visitor is Manny (Manny Montana). He’s back because he heard what happened and wants in on killing some Sons. EZ explains Oakland hasn’t confirmed who did the shooting, and Manny breaks the news it was confirmed hours ago.

In Mexico, the nuns gather around the freshly dug grave to bury Tomas. Miguel joins them in prayer and then walks off alone. He goes through the gates and into a waiting car. He receives an envelope with a small amount of cash.

Back at the clubhouse, EZ express his dismay that Marcus didn’t tell them Sons were confirmed as laying down the hit. Manny suspects it’s because Marcus needed time to think but EZ corrects him and says it’s because Marcus is afraid of war.

The old-timers lost the war when it was their turn. Manny and EZ believe it’s their turn now and they don’t plan on losing. Manny thinks EZ should lead them.

Hope (Vanessa Giselle) is crying in bed when Letty quietly enters the room and takes a seat on the edge of the bed. She tells Hope she’s sorry and says she’ll leave tomorrow. Hope gently rubs Letty’s back and says, “Please don’t go.”

Letty lays down and Hope wraps her arms around her. They hold each other tight.

Angel still has no idea what happened to Nails. Instead of going home, he drives back to the clubhouse. The weight of everything going on is just too much for him and he stops in his tracks in the yard. He’s struggling to make it all make sense. He says, “F**k!” and looks confused. Why did he sleep with Letty? Why isn’t he home with Nails? What’s going to happen to his club now that Coco’s been murdered? So much is going on in his head and Clayton Cardenas is absolutely brilliant in allowing us inside Angel’s head without saying anything other than one single expletive.

Angel takes a moment outside the clubhouse door to pull himself together before entering.

Just a quick break in the recap to point out the entire cast has been outstanding this year…not that they ever phoned it in in the previous seasons.

As Felipe drives Nails home, she confesses she believes moving the ladder caused the miscarriage. They make it back to Angel’s place and Felipe volunteers to help her clean up. She claims she can handle it and asks Felipe to take her bag of clothes with him when he leaves.

Emily also makes it back to her temporary home. It’s snowing outside as she checks the window.

Felipe places Nails’ clothes in a trashcan, returns to his truck, and begins sobbing.

Nails lays down in bed, alone. She holds her belly as she rests.

Santo Padre gather at the table and Marcus says the Sons will answer for Coco’s death. However, they can’t afford an all-out war now because the Mayans are too divided.

Marcus is going to check in with Charming to see if he can find out what prompted the attack. (All he needs to do is ask Taza.) When that’s determined, he’ll call for retribution.

The club’s not happy with that decision. EZ disagrees with Marcus and says they will act now. He believes that since Packer’s dying at UC Davis Charming (or whoever okayed the hit) will be keeping vigil there. EZ wants to go there and kill the SoA leadership.

“Cut the head off the snake and it dies,” says EZ.

Manny adds, “Show these mother**kers who we are.”

EZ knows it’s a suicide mission and that’s why he’s volunteering. He also volunteers Angel (he’s always getting pulled into his brother’s plans!) and Gilly. EZ thinks they just need a small team to get it done.

Tranq and Gilly get into an argument over Gilly’s participation. Tranq orders Gilly to stay in Santo Padre and protect the club.

Manny speaks up and volunteers himself. “I didn’t come all the way down here for nothin’. I’d be honored to join you,” says Manny. EZ’s fine with that.

Marcus warns that if it goes wrong, the Mayans will be in a world of hurt. EZ, taking the glass half full approach, reminds him that if it goes right no one will ever attack them again. He adds, “And it will mean we’ve done right by Coco.”

No one at the table speaks for a moment or two and then EZ says, “Let’s go to war.”
