Chunk asks Bull for a favor at the request of his daughter on CBS’s Bull season five episode 14. Directed by Geary McLeod from a script by Nichole Millard and Kathryn Price, episode 14 – “Under the Influence” – will air on Monday, May 3, 2021 at 10pm ET/PT.

The season five cast is led by Michael Weatherly as Dr. Jason Bull. Freddy Rodriguez plays Benny Colón, Yara Martinez stars as Isabella “Izzy” Colón, Geneva Carr is Marissa Morgan, Jamie Lee Kirchner is Danny James, Christopher Jackson plays Chunk Palmer, and MacKenzie Meehan stars as Taylor Rentzel.

Kaden Alexander Hughes, Jaime Lincoln Smith, Hadi Tabbal, Stacey Sargeant, and Amy Hohn guest star.

“Under the Influence” Plot: Chunk does his daughter, Anna (Jazzy Kae), a favor and convinces Bull to represent a teenager on trial for robbery, a defendant who faces an uphill battle in court when he refuses to name his accomplice.

Also, Chunk is suspicious of Anna’s older boyfriend who’s a writer with the financial resources to pay the legal fees for TAC’s teen client, and Taylor’s forced to lean on her ex-husband’s girlfriend as childcare for her son when the trial has her working around the clock.

Series Description, Courtesy of CBS:

Bull stars Michael Weatherly as Dr. Jason Bull in a drama inspired by the early career of Dr. Phil McGraw, the founder of one of the most prolific trial-consulting firms of all time. Brilliant, brash and charming, Dr. Bull is the ultimate puppet master as he combines psychology, human intuition and high-tech data to learn what makes jurors, attorneys, witnesses and the accused tick. This season, Bull finds it harder than ever to navigate his personal life, as he balances fatherhood and his renewed relationship with Isabella “Izzy” Colón, his ex-wife. Izzy’s brother is Benny Colón, Bull’s trusted associate, a quick-witted lawyer who acts as defense attorney in the company’s mock trials.

Bull’s enviable group of experts at Trial Analysis Corporation shape successful narratives down to the last detail. In addition to Benny, his team includes Marissa Morgan, a neurolinguistics expert from the Department of Homeland Security who monitors shifting jury reactions in real-time for Bull; former NYPD detective Danny James, the firm’s tough but relatable investigator; Taylor Rentzel, a working mother and former colleague of Marissa’s who is an expert at coding and computer hacking; and Chunk Palmer, a former all-American lineman and stylist-turned-lawyer, who helps clients prepare their look and testimony for trial.

In high-stakes trials, Bull’s combination of remarkable insight into human nature, three Ph.D.’s and a top-notch staff creates winning strategies that tip the scales of justice in his clients’ favor.

‘Mr Inbetween’ Unveils a Final Season Trailer

FX has released the official trailer for the third and final season of Mr Inbetween starring Scott Ryan. The new trailer shows Ryan’s character Ray really struggling to handle both his work responsibilities and his home life.

In addition to Scott Ryan, season three stars Kenny Graham, Chika Yasumura, Justin Rosniak, Matt Nable, and Damon Herriman. Jeremy Sims and Emily Barclay also star.

Mr Inbetween will kick off its final season on May 25, 2021.

The Plot, Courtesy of FX:

Juggling parental responsibilities, complicated relationships, a viciously smart pre-teen daughter and an aging parent while earning a living would be difficult for anyone, but it’s particularly tricky when you’re a criminal for hire.

Ray Shoesmith (Ryan) ‘takes care of people’ — collecting debts, relieving them of drugs and guns, and often taking care of them on a more permanent basis. Ray demands respect and does not tolerate others disregarding his very clear code of ethics. As Ray’s increasingly volatile work collides with his imploding personal life, he finds himself struggling to stay atop the complex web he has woven.

In season three of Mr Inbetween, Ray’s world has contracted. Family life looks a little different as he quietly mourns the loss of Bruce, while figuring out how to care for his aging father, Bill (Graham). As Brittany (Yasumura) grows into a young woman, she draws further away from Ray and comes closer to discovering the truth about who he really is.

Things seem good with Gary (Rosniak) and Dave (Nable), however since severing ties with former boss and confidant Freddy (Herriman), Ray is working freelance and feeling a sense of isolation. With business booming, a new connection with criminal kingpin Rafael (Sims) intensifies Ray’s struggle and when sparks fly with new colleague Zoe (Barclay), an unexpected tragedy makes Ray question both his career trajectory and his ethics.

Fellow underworld figures dub Ray ‘The Magician’ for his uncanny ability to make things disappear. As his family crumbles, emotions rage and violence escalates, the blood on his hands may finally cause the magic wand to slip.

‘Percy Vs. Goliath’ Movie Review

Percy Vs. Goliath

A Canadian farmer takes on a global giant agricultural corporation in a fight that goes all the way to the Supreme Court in the dramatic film Percy Vs. Goliath. Christopher Walken stars as Percy Schmeiser, a third-generation farmer in Saskatchewan, Canada who takes pride in being a seed saver, as he calls it, using his own seeds over and over again for each season’s crops. The trouble for Percy starts when the corporate giant Monsanto sues him claiming he used their patented seeds as part of his crop.

Not wanting to lose everything he’s grown and without many resources, Percy and his wife, Louise (Roberta Maxwell), decide to hire a young, up-and-coming lawyer named Jackson Weaver (Zach Braff) to represent him in court. As the case goes on and gains momentum, environmental activist Rebecca Salcau (Christina Ricci) also teams up with Percy to help him get media coverage and to help shine a spotlight on Monsanto’s true goals which appears to be to own the seed market for all the world’s farmers.

Mortgaging everything he owns and risking his family’s health and happiness, Percy’s unflinching determination to take on this massive fight ends up in the highest court.

Based on a true story, Percy Vs. Goliath is a classic underdog story that has above-average performances but, unfortunately, comes up short of being compelling and moving. Walken, best known for his larger-than-life and eccentric performances, tones down his dynamic energy and portrays Percy as a low-key, loving family man who’s also a bit of a reclusive. He plays Percy as a man who’s worked hard his whole life to be a successful farmer and is extremely proud of his “seed saver” style of farming, a style that was handed down to him over generations of his family.

Zach Braff delivers a solid performance as Weaver, Percy’s lawyer who at first advises the farmer to settle with the corporate giant fearing if he loses it could cost him his farm. Ultimately, he agrees to represent Percy in his legal fight with the behemoth. Braff portrays Weaver as a local small-town lawyer who never dreamed of having a client and case that would ever be this monumental and life-changing.

Christina Ricci seems miscast as Salcau, the activist who wants to help Percy in his fight while also harboring her own self-serving reasons for wanting to be part of the case. Ricci fails to bring any real sense of passion and drive to the role and comes across more like an annoying groupie than a true activist.

The biggest problem with Percy Vs. Goliath, however, is that it’s too low-key and laid back for its own good. It fails to get the audience emotionally connected to Percy and his fight. Though a worthwhile story that deserves to be told, the film is missing the dramatic tension it needs to be truly engaging, entertaining, and thought-provoking.

Netflix’s series adaptation of Jeff Lemire’s popular DC comic book Sweet Tooth just released its first teaser trailer along with photos from season one. The teaser hosted on Netflix’s YouTube channel has almost as many commenters discussing the brilliance of Lemire’s writing as it does commenters noting Marvel star Robert Downey Jr (Avengers: Endgame, Iron Man) is executive producing this DC project with his wife and producing partner Susan Downey.

The cast includes Christian Convery (Gus), Nonso Anozie (Tommy Jepperd), Adeel Akhtar (Dr. Aditya Singh), Aliza Vellani (Rani Singh), and Stefania LaVie Owen (Bear). Dania Ramirez (Aimee Eden), Neil Sandilands (General Abbot), Will Forte (Father), and James Brolin (Narrator) also star.

“We wanted to make a show that offers escape and adventure, where nature is reclaiming the world and in many ways it feels like a fairytale. Sweet Tooth is a new kind of dystopian story, it’s very lush and hopeful,” explained executive producer, writer, director and co-showrunner Jim Mickle. “We want people to come into this world where there’s beauty and hope and adventure. This is a sweeping story — we ride on trains, climb mountaintops, run through forests. This is a show about what makes a family, what home really means, and why it’s important to keep faith in humanity.”

Season one was shot in New Zealand and consists of eight hour-long episodes.

Sweet Tooth the series has been in the making since 2016, and the comics existed even well before that, but I think everyone is going to relate to the show and this story even more than we even thought when we first started working on it. When you watch Sweet Tooth, you feel hopeful about the future,” said executive producer, writer, and co-showrunner Beth Schwartz.

Netflix has set a June 4, 2021 global premiere date.

The Plot, Courtesy of Netflix:

Years after “The Great Crumble” changed everything, a hybrid deer-boy forms an unlikely bond with a wandering loner. Together, they embark on an extraordinary adventure through the lush, dangerous world left behind, searching for the meaning of home.
