Paramount+ confirmed season two of the anthology series Why Women Kill will premiere on Thursday, June 3, 2021. The season two announcement was accompanied by a short teaser video and by a poster featuring gorgeous flowers filling in the outline of a dead body lying on the grass.

Season two will consist of 10 episodes starring Allison Tolman (Fargo), Lana Parrilla (Once Upon a Time), B.K. Cannon (Sin City Saints), and Jordane Christie (Containment). Matthew Daddario (Shadowhunters), Veronica Falcón (Perry Mason), and Nick Frost also star in the dark comedy’s second season.

Desperate Housewives‘ Marc Cherry created the series and serves as executive producer. Marc Webb, Francie Calfo, David Warren, Austin Guzman, Curtis Kheel, and Imagine’s Brian Grazer and Samie Kim Falvey also executive produce along with Acme Productions’ Michael Hanel and Mindy Schultheis.

The Season 2 Description, Courtesy of Paramount+:

Season two of Why Women Kill features a new ensemble cast and storylines set in 1949 that will explore what it means to be beautiful, the hidden truth behind the facades people present to the world, the effects of being ignored and overlooked by society and finally, the lengths one woman will go in order to finally belong…

  • Allison Tolman is Alma, a timid and awkward housewife, who remains optimistic in the face of the world’s cruelty. Alma yearns for a spot in the local garden club and to see her ungainly daughter married, but her life is disrupted once she learns of her husband’s secret hobby.
  • Nick Frost plays Bertram, Alma’s beloved husband who spends his days as a veterinarian putting sick and injured animals out of their misery. Always kind and good-humored, Bertram has a secret hobby that is darker than his jovial nature lets on.
  • Lana Parrilla plays Rita, the sardonic wife to the wealthy and evil Carlo Castillo. As she waits for her elderly husband to die, Rita runs the garden club with an iron fist and spends much of her time engaging in an affair with a younger lover.
  • B.K. Cannon plays Dee, Alma’s wry, and brassy daughter who works as a waitress in a local diner. Though self-deprecating, Dee can be vulnerable under her emotional armor and finds her illicit affair with a secret lover to be both exciting and humiliating.
  • Jordane Christie plays Vern, a tough, rugged private detective. Vern is intrigued and suspicious when he’s hired to investigate Rita’s younger lover, whom she suspects is cheating on her.
  • Matthew Daddario is Scooter, Rita’s gorgeous, sexy and not-so-bright lover. A charming would-be actor, Scooter is well kept by Rita but pursues a secret relationship elsewhere.
  • Veronica Falcón plays Catherine, Carlo Castillo’s spinster daughter. Prim and proper, Catherine detests her father’s gorgeous wife, Rita, and returns to town after a mysterious accident, seeking a way to destroy her.

‘Bedrock’ Brings Back The Flintstones in a New Animated Comedy

Bedrock Animated Series

Bedrock, a new animated comedy featuring the Flintstones, is in development at Fox. Described as an adult comedy, Bedrock comes from Fox Entertainment, Warner Bros. Animation, and Elizabeth Banks, with Banks set to voice an adult Pebbles Flintstone as well as produce.

Lindsay Kerns (Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous) is writing the pilot script which brings the modern Stone Age family back to life for primetime.

“Long before the Simpsons and Springfield, the Griffins and Quahog or even when the Belchers started serving burgers on Ocean Avenue, there were the Flintstones and Bedrock,” stated Michael Thorn, President, Entertainment, FOX Entertainment. “Their imprint on the animation universe is undeniable and the idea of adapting it for today’s audience is a challenge we here at FOX are very much looking forward to taking on with Warner Bros., Elizabeth and Lindsay. No pressure whatsoever, really.”

“The Flintstones are the first family of primetime animation,” said Peter Girardi, Executive Vice President, Alternative Programming at Warner Bros. Animation. “Elizabeth and Lindsay have a brilliant take on these characters, and FOX and Brownstone are the perfect partners to bring them back to primetime. This is going to rock (sorry).”

Should Bedrock be given a series order from Fox, Banks and Max Handelman will executive produce through Brownstone Productions (Pitch Perfect franchise).

The Flintstones made history as the first primetime animated series, launching a six season run in 1960. All 166 episodes have been acquired by Fox Entertainment and will stream on Tubi beginning May 1st.

Bedrock Description, Courtesy of Fox:

Bedrock catches up with the Flintstone family two decades after the original, with Fred on the brink of retirement and 20-something Pebbles embarking on her own career. As the Stone Age gives way to a shiny and enlightened new Bronze Age, the residents of Bedrock will find this evolution harder than a swing from Bamm-Bamm’s club.

BTS Announce “Butter” as Their Second English Language Single

Get ready, BTS fans…the Grammy-nominated global superstars announced plans to release a brand new single, “Butter,” on May 21, 2021. The news came via YouTube as BTS fans, referred to affectionately as ARMY, discovered the group’s YouTube channel, Bangtantv, featured a one-hour countdown that kicked off at 10am ET. Over 900,000 people tuned in as the announcement hit at 11am ET.

“Butter” is described as a “dance pop track brimming with the smooth yet charismatic charm of BTS.” The song marks the group’s second English single following their multi-platinum smash hit “Dynamite” which was released in August last year.

According to Korean news outlets, BTS will be releasing an album in June which will include “Butter.” However, Big Hit Entertainment hasn’t released an official announcement concerning the much-anticipated album’s release.

Columbia Records (distributor for BTS) released links for Spotify and Apple Music to pre-save the song along with where to pre-purchase the single.

BTS Butter

BTS just held Bang Bang Con on their YouTube channel featuring past concerts along with their fan event. The event kicked off with their 2015 BTS Live Trilogy Episode I: BTS Begins. That was followed by their 2019 Fan event 5th Muster and, last but not least, their São Paulo, Brazil Stadium concert from the world tour “Love Yourself: Speak Yourself” in May 2019.

Bang Bang Con 2021 surpassed Bang Bang 2020 in views, producing a whooping 2.7 million concurrent viewers on Saturday, April 18th (Korean standard time) according to Big Hit. Bang Bang Con launched in April 2020 after the group had to cancel their massive stadium world tour due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The global K-pop stars have been busy these past few years breaking records in multiple languages including Korean, English and Japanese. Most recently, BTS became the first Korean pop act to be nominated at the Grammy Awards for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. They’re also the first Korean act to have earned a nomination for this year’s BRIT Awards for International Group.

Fans are patiently waiting for the Billboard Music Award nominees to be announced (coming April 29), hoping to see the group show up on the list again this year. BTS has taken the Top Social Award four years running and snagged a Top Group/Duo win in 2019.

BTS earned multiple iHeartRadio Music Awards nominations, with the winners set to be announced on May 27 at 5pm PT. BTS is up for Best Group/Duo of the Year, Best Music Video: “Dynamite,” and Best Fan Army. Their long-time choreographer Son Sung Deuk is also nominated for Favorite Music Video Choreography.

‘Summer of Love’ Teaser Trailer: The Revolution Can Now Be Televised

In August 1969, Woodstock drew 400,00+ to Max Yasgur’s dairy farm for a trippy weekend of listening to 32 musical acts. Joan Baez, Arlo Guthrie, Santana, Grateful Dead, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Janis Joplin, and Jimi Hendrix were among those who took the stage during what’s since been deemed to be a pivotal moment in music history.

During the same period, a festival featuring Stevie Wonder, Nina Simone, Sly & the Family Stone, Gladys Knight & the Pips, Mahalia Jackson, B.B. King, and The 5th Dimension was held in Mount Morris Park. That festival – the Harlem Cultural Festival – is the subject of Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson’s feature film directorial debut, Summer of Soul.

Questlove’s Summer of Love had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, earning the Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award. Searchlight Pictures will launch the documentary in theaters on July 2, 2021, with a simultaneous release planned on Hulu.

The Plot, Courtesy of Hulu and Searchlight Pictures:

Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson presents a powerful and transporting documentary—part music film, part historical record created around an epic event that celebrated Black history, culture and fashion. Over the course of six weeks in the summer of 1969, just one hundred miles south of Woodstock, The Harlem Cultural Festival was filmed in Mount Morris Park (now Marcus Garvey Park). The footage was never seen and largely forgotten–until now.

Summer of Soul shines a light on the importance of history to our spiritual well-being and stands as a testament to the healing power of music during times of unrest, both past and present.
