‘American Horror Story: Cult’ Episode 5 Recap: Holes

American Horror Story: Cult Episode 5 Recap

The fifth episode of FX’s American Horror Story: Cult begins with the secret co-conspirators teaming up for a news report. Beverly Hope (Adina Porter) interviews Kai Anderson (Evan Peters) about the recent discoveries of body parts, the chem trucks cruising through neighborhoods, and the fact the government seems to be doing nothing to help the city. Beverly wonders if there’s a serial killer loose, and she provides the update that Meadow Wilton is still missing.

Back at the station, Beverly’s boss – anchorman Bob Thompson (Dermot Mulroney) – is incredulous. He watches her taped piece on crime and calls her out for faking the stats. Crime is actually the lowest it’s been in years, contrary to her report. Beverly’s story is full of holes, plus Bob wonders why Beverly is always the first on the scene. The cops say it’s too early to label it a serial killer, and what she’s doing is reporting fake news. Plus, he warns her to stop scaring people and stop interviewing Kai. No one cares about him.

Beverly wants Bob to air the tape of Serena, and he admits the station’s being sued because they didn’t protect her. They argue some more and Bob fires Beverly, but she warns him she’ll call a press conference and expose that he sexual harassed Serena if he follows through with that threat.

#TeamKai gathers at Harrison Wilton’s house and Winter (Billie Lourd) addresses the group, letting them know her unofficial poll indicates no one cares about the city council or the election. When Beverly’s cameraman, RJ (James Morosini), speaks up and asks why anyone should care, Kai slaps him hard across the face. “The perception of credibility leads to the perception of power. People don’t follow experts anymore, they follow titles,” explains Kai. He believes the citizens will turn to the city council to lead them.

Harrison (Billy Eichner) doesn’t think people are scared enough of the killer, and Kai decides they need to make the murders scarier. But, Beverly believes people need to actually see the killings. She claims people need to see the clowns, but no one is seeing this show they’re putting on.

Beverly also reveals her boss is catching on, so Kai decides to it’s time to kill Bob in a horrible, satanic way. RJ is going to film it. As they come to that decision…surprise!…Ivy (Alison Pill) shows up, apologizing for being late.

Ally (Sarah Paulson) is home alone, washing her face and neck repeatedly. She sees holes in her neck and freaks out. This turns out to be a nightmare she’s discussing with Dr. Rudy Vincent (Cheyenne Jackson). She admits she’s always been afraid of holes and can’t believe the holes were on her skin. He tells her this fear is deeply rooted in her subconscious. He believes she’s scared of falling into the darkness of her life. They talk about Ivy and Oz moving out, and Ally is torn up. She wants to see her son so badly, and now that’s yet another hole in her life. She’s sad and angry, and can’t believe she was tempted by Winter.

Ally’s upset she has to stay in that house – the house marked by a serial killer – all alone. She was promised police protection, but that hasn’t happened. She doesn’t have any money other than what’s tied up in the restaurant, so she can’t move. “It was like she prepared,” says Ally. Ivy closed their credit cards immediately.

A flashback to September 2016 shows Ivy doing the books while Ally tries to distract her with kisses. Ivy’s concerned about cancellations at the restaurant eating into their profits, claiming they’re in a hole financially.

Fast-forward to Ally’s visit with Dr. Vincent and she’s sure every piece of her life has fallen apart. Dr. Vincent tells her to only work on things she can control.

Another flashback reveals Ivy is only allowing Ally to see Oz for supervised visits which makes Ally so nervous she can barely think straight. She brought Oz notepads for his drawings, attempting to reconnect with him again over his love of drawing. The supervised visit was in the restaurant, and Ivy watched as Ally tried to act normal. It didn’t work and Oz wasn’t fooled. He told Ally she was being weird and she apologized.

Ally asks Dr. Vincent to try and help her get back her son.

Ivy and Winter are driving home from the #TeamKai meeting and Oz calls, checking in. He’s spending the night with a friend and Ivy admits Oz loves being at the motel. Ivy reveals Oz asked if Winter was going to be his third mom, and Winter apologizes Oz saw the video but says it had to be done that way. Ivy gets it and Winter reminds her that things are about to get real. “This isn’t knitting a pink pussy hat and marching with a clever sign. This is radical action,” says Winter. Ivy agrees and believes radicals are the only ones who get things done, adding she hates this country and what it’s become. She hates Ally for helping to let it happen. She’ll burn everything down to make America a better place.

#TeamKai prepare for their next kill. RJ has a new phone to shoot the video and everyone is instructed to chant “Ave Satanas” during the kill shot.

Bob’s at home in his undies, licking something red off his rubber gloves as he heads downstairs into the kitchen. The clowns arrive and quietly make their way into his home. One hits him in the back and then they surround him in the kitchen. He looks freaked out and offers money for his release. He grabs a kitchen knife but they continue to circle him. As they begin to chant, Bob yells, “I have a gimp in the attic!”

The gang head upstairs and find a man suspended by hooks through different parts of his body. He’s wearing a hood and it’s beyond disturbing the way the hooks pierce his flesh. They debate what to do with him, and RJ says the gimp can’t see or hear them. Kai ends the discussion by stabbing the man in the stomach. The hooks pop out of one side, tearing his flesh more as now he’s suspended only from one side’s worth of hooks. Kai stabs him again and he screams in pain, landing on his stomach on the floor.

Ivy flees the attic and races to the bathroom to vomit. Winter follows to help her and to settle her down.

They bring Bob upstairs and he’s still alive but bound and gagged. They ask Bob if he has any last words, and he screams into his gag. RJ begins filming again as they chant and stab Bob. Beverly takes off her mask so Bob can see her. “Ave Satanas, mother**ker!” she says as she slices Bob in the head with an axe.

Next, we see Beverly reporting live in front of Bob’s house. First on the scene yet again, she reveals Bob has been killed and the station is mourning the loss of their friend. She also reveals she has an email with footage of Bob’s murder. The video with the tag “Cell Phone Footage” plays as Beverly warns those who are squeamish to change the channel.

Beverly and Kai meet at Ivy’s restaurant and she asks if he noticed anything “bothersome” at Bob’s place. Kai says only she impressed him and the others asked too many questions. Beverly thinks they need to get rid of the weak link, and they both know who that is.

Flashback to five weeks ago during the coffin murders. The team sets up the coffins, with Beverly directing how each is positioned. They have 12 minutes before the victims will arrive, according to a call from Dr. Vincent providing the heads up. We see the murders again and watch as the coffins shake as the victims scream and pound on the lids from the inside.

Meadow asks how long they’ll keep the couple in them and RJ agrees. He wants to let them out, but Beverly tells him to stop being a bitch.

Returning to current events, Beverly and Kai agree they need to cut him out of their group.

Ally’s home alone and she straightens up Oz’s room. She hears a noise and sees Harrison with a large body-sized bag. Using Oz’s telescope, she’s able to get a better look at what’s going on. The bag is definitely big enough to fit Meadow. Inside the house, she spies Harrison and Detective Jack Samuels (Colton Haynes) hugging and kissing. She had no idea they knew each other.

Ally heads across the street, armed with a bat. She sees a large hole dug in Harrison’s backyard and falls to her knees. Meadow is in the hole and she begs, very quietly, “Help me.” She’s tied up and can’t move.

Ally races back across the street, locking her doors and turning off the lights. She calls 9-1-1 and is put on hold. She hangs up and calls Ivy, begging her to come to the house. She says Harrison is going to kill Meadow, describing the hole in the backyard. Ivy can’t believe Ally is talking about holes again, and just then there’s a loud banging on the front door. Ivy tells Ally to hang up and call 9-1-1 again.

The banging is Meadow and she’s screaming for Ally to help her. Meadow says it’s a cult and everyone’s in it including Ivy, Winter, and Harrison. Ally doesn’t react in time and Meadow’s hauled away from the window with a pillowcase placed over her head as she screams.

Ally picks up the phone and Ivy’s still on the line. She hangs up.

The gang is assembled at the Wilton house, including Ivy. She wants to know where Meadow is and Harrison says she’s with a friend. Winter announces her new polling indicates Kai’s winning the council seat now after the clown video was released. He still doesn’t think his lead is enough because he needs more than 50% of the vote to avoid a runoff. He says they need to keep doing “great sh*t” together, but he feels resistance and dissension within the group. He can’t have that because he needs them to be strong, vigilant, and ruthless.

Kai leaves the room to take care of the problem and they follow him into the basement. RJ is tied up and gagged because he’s the weakest link. Ivy can’t believe it and neither can Winter who says RJ is one of them. Kai doesn’t think RJ should have been a part of this, but RJ shakes his head vigorously. They think he’ll testify against him, and Beverly confirms RJ must die.

Ivy pleads with Kai not to kill RJ, and Kai reminds everyone Ivy ran away before they killed Bob. He hands her the nail gun and tells her she should be the first to shoot RJ. “The world record for nails in the head before death is 13,” says Kai.

Ivy doesn’t want to do it and Kai advises her she could just shoot him in the right spot and kill RJ before they all get to take turns shooting him. She still can’t and doesn’t touch the gun until Kai asks her if she’s with them. She finally takes the nail gun and slowly approaches RJ. RJ’s shaking uncontrollably and before she pulls the trigger Harrison reminds her she has to put it against RJ’s head for it to work. She does, apologizing to him before pulling the trigger. She shoots him in the temple and Harrison is next up. He shoots him in the forehead and RJ’s alive but no longer shaking. Blood and tears stream down his face as Gary (Chaz Bono), Beverly, Jack, and Winter take their turns. He’s still alive, but barely, when Kai takes the gun. Instead of trying for a world record, he puts RJ out of his misery.

Beverly and Kai pinkie swear and he asks her what scares her the most. She doesn’t answer and instead asks who he really is. She asks where his mother and father are, and if he killed them. He won’t talk about it and she tells him secrets make him weak. She wants the real story and he says they died three years ago.

A flashback to 2014 shows Kai’s father in a wheelchair. Kai’s voice-over tells us he was a lawyer but got in a motorcycle accident that left him disabled. He hassled Kai about getting a job and about Kai’s useless degree in religious studies. He became a jerk since his accident, screaming at Kai’s mom while she was caring for him. He even accused her of cheating on him since his own penis didn’t work.

Kai was forced to listen to them argue and then one night he heard gunshots upstairs. His mother shot his dad and then killed herself. Kai didn’t call the cops and instead called his brother, Dr. Rudy Vincent! Rudy decided they would cover the bodies in lye after putting them in bed. Then, they’d just padlock the bedroom door.

Kai didn’t want to follow the plan, but Rudy said financially it made sense. The government would take too much of their father’s accident settlement money if they reported his death. Rudy said they needed their dad’s disability check and their mother’s pension to pay bills and live.

Rudy also revealed he doesn’t want his clients to learn his parents killed each other. It wouldn’t be good for business. They pinkie swear on the plan. Kai asked what they’re going to tell Winter, and Rudy said they’ll fill her in at Thanksgiving when she comes home.

The flashback continues with Winter arriving home and she was pissed they didn’t tell her. Kai unlocked the door to show his sister the bodies, both still in bed and badly decomposed. She threatened to turn in both her brothers, but Kai said they’re all free now because of his father’s death.

Back to current events, Kai admits his parents are still in their bedroom and he visits them sometimes.

We see Kai sitting next to their bed, telling his skeletal dad he still hates him and is glad he’s rotting into nothingness. He promises his mom he’ll be something and make her proud.

As he tells the story to Beverly, Kai breaks down crying.

(I’ve got to say this is one of the most disturbing and nauseating episodes of television I’ve ever made it through.)

The CW’s Arrow kicks off season six on October 12, 2017 with episode one titled “Fallout.” The plot description is one simple sentence, revealing nothing about what fans can expect when the show returns for its sixth season. And during the 2017 San Diego Comic Con, executive producer Wendy Mericle confirmed not everybody will return for season six.

Season six episode one was directed by James Bamford from a script by Marc Guggenheim and Wendy Mericle. Las Vegas Shooting: Late Night Talk Shows Respond to the Horrific Shooting

Tonight Show Miley Cyrus and Adam Sandler
Singer/Songwriter Miley Cyrus and Adam Sandler perform “No Freedom” on ‘The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon’ (Photo by Andrew Lipovsky / NBC)

The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon began with Fallon acknowledging the murder of innocent concertgoers followed by a performance of Dido’s “No Freedom” by Miley Cyrus and Adam Sandler. Miley Cyrus explained the reason she choose “No Freedom” was because she truly believes there isn’t any love without freedom. “I think about that when these tragic events happen. What is music if we can’t go see our favorite artists perform because we’re scared of violence or we’re scared of losing someone that we love to go to a concert or to go see a film? And I think that right now we’re supposed to be the land of the free but we can’t have freedom if we’re constantly living in fear,” said Cyrus.

On The Late Late Show with James Corden, Corden began his October 2, 2017 episode discussing the mass shooting, the deadliest in the modern history of the United States. “A crowd gathered together in unity enjoying a music concert unaware that moments later their lives would change forever. Their families hearing the news that their son, daughter, mother, father or friend isn’t ever coming home is something I can’t begin to imagine. To them and to the hundreds who survived but now face battles with their injuries and memories, we’re thinking of you tonight.

We’re also hearing stories of bravery and heroism by the resilient fans at the concert and the first responders and medical professionals in Las Vegas. People lining up to give blood, lines that started just hours after the shooting, because that’s what people do. It’s what they did in Manchester. It’s what they did at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando last summer. It’s what they do in every city where a horrific attack takes place. Those will be far greater examples of true human nature than that shooter on the 32nd floor,” said James Corden.

Like James Corden, Seth Meyers also addressed gun violence in America during his opening monologue on Late Night with Seth Meyers. “I would like to send my thoughts to the families of the victims and my thanks and appreciation to the first responders as well as those in Las Vegas who lined up to give blood,” said Meyers. “It always seems like the worst displays of humanity in this country are immediately followed by the best. And then sadly that is followed by no action at all, and then it repeats itself. We’ve talked about gun violence on this show before, and I’m not sure what else I can say. I also know nothing I say will make any difference at all. But, to Congress I would just like to say, are there no steps we can take as a nation to prevent gun violence or is this just how it is and how it’s going to continue to be? Because when you say, ‘Now is not the time to talk about it,’ which you always say – ‘Now is not the time to talk about it’ – what you really mean is, ‘There is never a time to talk about it.’ And it would be so much more honest if you would just admit that your plan is to never talk about it and never take any action.”

However, the most emotional, most gut-wrenching response came from Jimmy Kimmel during the opening of Jimmy Kimmel Live on October 2nd. Kimmel, fresh off helping Americans keep their health insurance, struggled to speak, his voice breaking and emotions barely kept in check during his monologue on the Las Vegas shooting. Vegas is Kimmel’s hometown and this despicable act of violence struck home.

After describing the events and acknowledging the victims and their families, Kimmel said, “It’s the kind of thing that makes you want to throw up or give up. It’s too much to even process, all these devastated families who have to live with this pain forever because one person with a violent and insane voice in his head managed to stockpile a collection of high-powered rifles and used them to shoot people.”

“I’ve been reading comments from people saying this is terrible but there’s nothing we can do about it, but I disagree with that intensely because of course there’s something we can do about it. There are a lot of things we can do about it, but we don’t which is interesting because when someone with a beard attacks us we tap phones, we invoke travel bans, we build walls… We take every possible precaution to make sure it doesn’t happen again. But when an American buys a gun and kills other Americans, then there’s nothing we can do about that. 2nd Amendment, I guess our forefathers wanted us to have AK-47s is the argument, I assume.

Orlando, Newtown, Aurora, San Bernardino – every one of these shootings the murderer used automatic or semi-automatic rifles which are not weapons you use for self-defense. They’re weapons designed to kill large numbers of people in the shortest possible time,” said Kimmel.

Jimmy Kimmel went on to call out politicians who’ve taken money from the NRA and to ask for real action on behalf of the country. It was a powerful 10 minute opening segment and one delivered straight from his heart.

‘Lucifer’ Season 3 Episode 1 Recap: They’re Back, Aren’t They?

Lucifer Season 3 Episode 1
Tom Ellis and Lauren German (Photo © 2017 Fox Broadcasting Co)

Fox’s Lucifer season three episode one kicks off with an armored truck driver looking frazzled as he speeds down the desolate highway in the desert. He keeps glancing into the back of his truck and when his gun slips off the front seat, he takes his eyes off the road to retrieve it. He looks up just in time to slam on his brakes, stopping inches in front of Lucifer (Tom Ellis) – wings spread and looking glorious.

Lucifer, his usual snarky self, yells at the driver, “Are you blind?” He then complains about his day as he struggles to get into the passenger seat, initially forgetting to retract his wings. He tells the man to take him to LA, and then he quickly realizes the driver is actually the jewelry thief who he sent out of the store in just his “manties.” The driver’s pissed Lucifer got him put in jail and shows Lucifer his gun.

Lucifer, all smiles, wants a fist bump but the robber’s having none of it. Gun to his head, Lucifer asks about the robber’s desires and he admits he just wants to be free.

Half a dozen cops speed toward the armored truck, pulling to a stop with weapons drawn. Lucifer gets out and introduces himself as a consultant for the LAPD. He says he’s “apprehended this stolen vehicle” and its contents. The cops demand Lucifer get on the ground, but he doesn’t want to since he’s in clean – although laughably too small – clothes.

He gives them Detective Decker’s name and bra size…because he’s Lucifer…and his story checks out. He claims the real thief got away.

Cut to the real thief who’s running in his manties through the desert.

Back in Los Angeles, Lucifer’s home currently resembles a flower store. Dr. Linda (Rachael Harris) is wheeled in and Lucifer’s ecstatic to see her, claiming he bought a little of everything not knowing what was her favorite. She wonders what’s going on, and he informs her this is her new home and Benjamin, the hunky male nurse, is part of the package.

Lucifer claims he just wants to care for Linda, given it’s his fault she’s injured. Linda, however, doesn’t fall for that line. She knows something’s up and so Lucifer shows off his reattached wings. She’s surprised wings can grow back and Lucifer claims they’ve returned, thanks to his dad. “Celestial spanking, if you will. I suppose that’s what I get for giving mom her own universe,” explains Lucifer.

Lucifer’s determined to cut them off again but needs help. He wants Linda to cut them off since Maze is away, explaining it’s just a couple of snips and they’re off. They argue over why his wings have returned, with Lucifer adamant it’s because his dad’s a control freak. Lucifer is angry at being used and says, “I am not his Mr. Potato Head!”

He lets slip God sent someone on earth to return Lucifer’s wings and eventually he’ll track that person down. This fascinates Linda, but she refuses to chop off the wings. As a friend, she asks him to think this through and finally Lucifer seems to agree.

Lucifer shows up at the police station, disappointed there wasn’t a search party. He’s also a bit hurt Chloe (Lauren German) didn’t even know he was missing and she reminds him it’s only been two days. He tells her they need to work on figuring out who kidnapped him, saying his father was behind it. Chloe doesn’t believe him, so Lucifer’s going to take her to the scene of the crime.

Out in the desert, Lucifer can’t seem to find the spot where his body was deposited. He swears he’s not lying and that someone kidnapped him after he left the phone message telling her he was going to come clean with his backstory. Chloe thinks this whole kidnapping tale is just a distraction from him telling her the truth.

As they talk/argue, Chloe spots an arm sticking out of the ground.

The cops make it to the crime scene, with Ella (Aimee Garcia) even lying down in the box which served as a coffin for the dead victim. She’s determined the sun cooked him and only his arm made it out of the ground. Lucifer applauds her story but wants to get to the heart of the matter. Who is the dead guy and what does he have to do with the Devil-napping case? It’s always about Lucifer, isn’t it?

The victim is Steve Banellas, a hotel owner who Lucifer doesn’t know. Lucifer’s also frustrated the cops aren’t living up to his expectations, and Chloe explains the crime scene is on the border with Lancaster and these are Lancaster officers.

Detective Dan (aka Detective Douche) joins the conversation, calling the cops a bunch of tools. Lucifer’s happy his opinion’s been vindicated.

An officer finds a key chain with an A on it, and Lucifer tries to drag Ella away to investigate the find. Ella balks, wanting to make sure the scene is thoroughly examined so as not to disappoint the new lieutenant. She fangirls over seeing him speak at a conference and says he’s a serious rock star. She’s also heard he’s a “total sweetie pants.”

Speaking of Lieutenant Marcus “Sweetie Pants” Pierce (Tom Welling), he makes his entrance at the station and Ella can’t contain herself. She claps while everyone else acts professional. As Lt. Pierce is walking away from the officers, Dan (Kevin Alejandro) introduces himself. It doesn’t go well as Pierce asks if he’s the corrupt cop who got off too easily. Whoa…Dan and Marcus are not going to be BFFs anytime soon.

Up next, Marcus and Lucifer have a go at it. Marcus has read that they had to interview 92 of Lucifer’s sexual partners for a case, so he doesn’t want to shake hands. Looking Lucifer over, Marcus says he doesn’t look reckless and Lucifer takes that as a compliment. Marcus says Lucifer’s file is as long as his Johnson, and Lucifer quickly assesses Marcus hasn’t had sex in a while. Chloe steps in and tries to introduce herself, but that also doesn’t go well.

Ella, however, is still firmly #TeamMarcus.

13 minutes in and we get our first Amenadiel (DB Woodside) sighting. He wants to know what happened and of course Lucifer thinks he’s referring to his own kidnapping. Amenadiel actually wants to know what happened to their mom since Lucifer’s only explanation thus far has been a string of non-sensical emojis. Lucifer explains what each emoji represents and that’s how Amenadiel learns that his mother’s gone. Lucifer gives Amenadiel his necklace back and continues blabbing on about his kidnapping. He doesn’t notice Amenadiel’s upset until after laying out his own kidnapping story.

Lucifer doesn’t care about Amenadiel’s feelings because he’s connected the A on the key chain to his brother. He calls Amenadiel dad’s little bitch, and Amenadiel has no idea what his narcissistic brother is talking about. Amenadiel doesn’t have his powers back; he only slowed time once and that’s it. Amenadiel doesn’t have his wings back either, and Lucifer calls that ironic but decides at the last second not to tell Amenadiel his own wings have returned. Amenadiel points out the obvious; there’s nothing ironic in Lucifer’s explanation about being left in the desert. But Lucifer powers forward, telling Amenadiel to eat some mangos to get his powers back.

Ella interrupts with the news there was a print left on the keychain. Ella nearly knocks Amenadiel down giving him a hug and officially introduces herself. “Any bro of Lucifer’s is a bro of mine,” says Ella, feeling Amenadiel’s powerful bicep. Lucifer finally gets her to stop touching Amenadiel by hustling her out of the room to work on the case.

Before leaving, Lucifer tells Amenadiel he might have a solution to his problem. Amenadiel asks that this time Lucifer use his words when he texts, not seemingly random emojis.

Chloe and Lucifer pay a visit to the murder victim’s hotel. They’re going to meet with Josh, Steve’s business partner and co-owner of the hotel. Lucifer once again shows zero self-awareness when he says Josh and Steve’s purchase of the hotel just to have a place for their decadent lifestyle is absurd.

Chloe and Lucifer make their way through lovely ladies and a few scattered men who are partying on a deck overlooking the ocean at the hotel. Josh is a jerk, complimenting Chloe’s breasts which upsets Lucifer. Chloe keeps him under control while she tells Josh he’s a suspect in Steve’s murder. Josh makes a run for it but is trapped by a locked gate and when Chloe and Lucifer catch up to him, Lucifer tosses him over the railing into a pool.

Back at the police station, Lucifer doesn’t let Chloe get her first question out before he pounds the table in the interrogation room and demands to know why Josh kidnapped him. Josh claims he didn’t, and Chloe takes over the questioning. She shows Josh Steve’s photos from the crime scene and wants to know why his fingerprints are on the keychain found at the scene. He says he and Steve would hire fake kidnappers – it’s their “thing” – but it was just a prank. The more money they made, the funnier the prank. The company was Snatched and they were supposed to grab Steve and eventually let him go.

Josh admits he thought a guy named Lucifer and the “chick from Hot Tub Hotel” were just part of the prank. Lucifer corrects him, “Hot Tub High School – she wasn’t in the sequel.” Lucifer assures him they are really with the LAPD and wants more info on Snatched.

Amenadiel shows up at Lucifer’s and a gorgeous woman is there to give him a massage, courtesy of his brother. Amenadiel heads to Lucifer’s closet to get a towel and finds Lucifer’s now severed wings on the floor.

Ella can’t track Snatched but she does have the dead body of a squirrel that may have been run over by the killers. She has figured out the type of tire, which is rare, but hasn’t tracked it down.

Chloe finally asks Lucifer his connection to this whole kidnapping thing, and he once again blames it on his dad being mad he gave his mother her own universe. Chloe, of course, doesn’t take this explanation at face value and wants the truth. Lucifer, frustrated, says something horrid happened and he found himself out in the desert. Chloe’s still not getting it, and Lucifer says she deserves the full story.

He offers her a seat, closes the blinds, and they kick Ella out of the room. He admits he’s held the real truth back and she deserves to know it. Chloe assures him it will be okay and she’s there for him. Lucifer takes a seat opposite her and although he tries to get all devil-faced, he remains the same handsome man. He doesn’t understand what’s happening and Chloe, angry at being fooled, leaves in a huff.

Marcus is pissed they can’t figure out the kidnapping case and meets with Chloe, Dan, and Lucifer to try and figure out what to do. Lucifer suggests they hire Snatched to kidnap someone, and Chloe says that was her suggestion. Marcus admonishes her that no one likes a credit hog. Lucifer volunteers to be the bait, but they need someone who is “a lot less everything.” Dan’s volunteered because he’s expendable.

Dan gets mic’ed up while Lucifer finishes up the Snatched application. Dan admits he’s feeling expendable but not just to Marcus, to Charlotte. Charlotte doesn’t care about him anymore and acts like she doesn’t know him.

Back at the station, Marcus keeps tabs on the undercover operation.

Before Dan heads out to get kidnapped, Lucifer tells him not to blame himself and that the whole Charlotte thing isn’t his fault. Dan suggests Lucifer just take care of his own side of the street, which gives the sexy Devil an idea.

Amenadiel stops by the station looking for Lucifer and Ella says he’s out on a sting operation. Ella assures Amenadiel that whatever he’s going through is part of God’s plan. She shows him the dead squirrel she’s named Leo and says he’s still valuable. Using Leo as an example, she tells Amenadiel to believe that when God crushes his nuts, he does it for a reason. Amenadiel seems slightly less depressed after talking with Ella.

Snatched is seven minutes late picking up Dan and it turns out that’s because Lucifer changed the arrangements and made himself the target. He’s happy to finally meet the men he thinks are his kidnappers and they don’t understand why tazing Lucifer only tickles. He frees himself and freaks out the kidnappers.

Back at the station, Chloe and Dan try and figure out where Lucifer is. Ella tracks his phone to some bushes, and they all mistakenly believe these are smart kidnappers. They aren’t, and Lucifer has turned the tables and has the larger man seated on top of the small guy, both taped to a chair. He’s trying to get them to explain what they did to his face but they have no idea what he’s talking about. They say they haven’t ever seen Lucifer before, and then explain how the fake kidnapping of Steve went down. He was abducted, taken to the desert, and then their partner, Sam, delivered him safely back to the hotel.

Lucifer gets Sam’s address and takes off, leaving the men still tied up.

Once more to the station we go and Ella and Chloe are discussing the tire tracks again. Dan arrives and says, “We’re screwed.” It turns out the cop who found the keychain was fake. The guy was trying to steal evidence, not find it. Dan’s upset they were fooled, but Chloe reminds him they don’t know the Lancaster cops.

They look through photos from the scene and Dan finds one but the guy’s facing away from the camera. Ella nearly squeals with joy when she notices the van in the picture. The tires are the same brand that ran over poor Leo the squirrel. They run the license to get an ID.

The fake cop’s packing when Lucifer appears at his door. He busts it down and Sam starts crying. Sam doesn’t understand what Lucifer’s talking about when Lucifer starts asking questions about his connection to his dad. Sam claims he was going to swap Lucifer for Steve but when he went to remove Lucifer from the van, he had wings. Sam says he didn’t mean to hurt anyone and Lucifer angrily says to deliver the message that he defines who he is, not his dad. At that, Lucifer’s beautiful wings unfurl once again. Sam freaks out and Lucifer utters the episode’s title. “Oh bloody hell, they’re back, aren’t they?”

Again, he blames this on Sam but Sam is nearly hysterical when he asks Lucifer if his dad is the Sinnerman a huge crime boss he owes money to. That’s who hired him to kidnap Lucifer and now he’s running because he didn’t finish the job. Sam doesn’t know where to find the Sinnerman and that’s when Chloe and Dan arrive to arrest Sam. Lucifer looks stunned as Sam’s hauled away.

When Marcus stops by her desk, Chloe starts babbling about her partnership with Lucifer and how she doesn’t care if she hasn’t seen his “thing.” She tells Marcus she’s a damned good detective and he finally says the perp was released on bail which means he has friends in high places.

Lucifer arrives home and Amenadiel is waiting, and he lets Lucifer know he knows about his wings. He’s not mad at his brother, he’s angry at himself. He wants Lucifer to be able to talk to him and Lucifer shouldn’t worry about telling him things. Amenadiel claims he’s still God’s favorite son and he won’t fail again because this time he has faith. Lucifer unfurls his wings and Amenadiel is stunned, having seen the severed wings on the floor. Lucifer says they’re tenacious and keep growing back.

Amenadiel says it’s part of God’s plan, and Lucifer thinks it’s their dad’s plan to control him. And then he reveals dad took away his Devil face when he gave him back his wings. Amenadiel asks if Lucifer understands this might mean that dad has forgiven him. Lucifer doesn’t want their dad’s forgiveness and Amenadiel replies, “But brother, if you can be redeemed doesn’t that mean that anyone can? Now, isn’t that divine?”

Lucifer isn’t positive it’s divinity at work. He asks Amenadiel if he’s heard of the Sinnerman because that’s who kidnapped him. Lucifer thinks maybe their dad had nothing to do with his kidnapping and maybe it’s something much, much darker.

As Amenadiel and Lucifer talk, we see Lucifer and Chloe at a murder scene. The victim appears to be Sam.
