NAOMI follows the journey of a cool, confident, comic book–loving teenager as she pursues her hidden destiny. When a supernatural event shakes her small hometown of Port Oswego, Naomi (Walfall) sets out to uncover its origins, with a little help from her fiercely loyal best friend Annabelle (Mary-Charles Jones). She also has the support of her adoptive, doting parents, veteran military officer Greg (Barry Watson) and linguist Jennifer (Mouzam Makkar).

After an encounter with Zumbado (Cranston Johnson), the mysterious owner of a used car lot, leaves her shaken, Naomi turns to tattoo shop owner Dee (Alexander Wraith), who becomes her reluctant mentor. While unraveling the mystery of herself, Naomi also navigates her high school friendships with both military kids and local townies, including ex-boyfriend and high school jock Nathan (Daniel Puig); Annabelle’s longtime, loyal boyfriend Jacob (Aidan Gemme); proud “townie” Anthony (Will Meyers); and fellow comic book enthusiast Lourdes (newcomer Camila Moreno).

As Naomi journeys to the heights of the Multiverse in search of answers, what she discovers will challenge everything we believe about our heroes.

ALL AMERICAN: HOMECOMING is a young adult sports drama set against the backdrop of the HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) experience at Bringston University, where Black excellence is a way of life. The series follows Simone (Geffri Maya), a young tennis hopeful from Beverly Hills who is trying to fight her way back to great after some time away from the court, and Damon (Peyton Alex Smith), an elite baseball player from Chicago who is carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders.

After Simone’s aunt Amara Patterson (Kelly Jenrette), a journalism teacher and activist, exposes a scandal that threatens to derail the school’s beloved baseball program, new coach Marcus Turner (Cory Hardrict) is determined to bring a championship back to Bringston the honest way — with Damon’s help. Damon will adjust to his new normal with fellow baseball player and childhood friend JR (Sylvester Powell) by his side.

Meanwhile, as Simone struggles to find her footing, she will get a little guidance from Thea (Camille Hyde), the super-competitive queen bee of the Bringston tennis team, and Keisha (Netta Walker), the school’s unofficial mayor, who will help Simone learn how to live her best life. As they contend with the high stakes of college sports, Simone and Damon will also navigate the highs, lows, and sexiness of unsupervised early adulthood at a prestigious HBCU.

‘Fantasy Island’ Starring Roselyn Sanchez is Renewed for Season 2

Fantasy Island Season 2

Fox has officially renewed the reboot of Fantasy Island from executive producers Liz Craft and Sarah Fain for a second season. Season one drew in impressive ratings and earned the top spot among all new scripted programs over the summer, making its renewal by Fox a real no-brainer.

Roselyn Sanchez and Kiara Barnes will return to star in season two as well as in the very special two-hour holiday episode airing on December 21, 2021 at 8pm ET/PT.

The “Welcome to the Snow Globe” holiday special released the following synopsis: “A businesswoman’s (guest star Lindsey Kraft) fantasy of a perfect Christmas and meeting Mr. Right (guest star Eddie Cahill) tests Roarke in unexpected ways. Meanwhile, Mr. Jones (guest star Mackenzie Astin) faces his past, while a new Secret Santa tradition has Ruby and Javier looking to the future.”

“Thanks to the fantastic Roselyn Sanchez and charming Kiara Barnes and the captivating stories that tapped into the core tenets of emotion and aspiration, Fantasy Island was the perfect wish fulfillment and escape we all needed this summer,” said Michael Thorn, President, Entertainment, FOX Entertainment. “Liz Craft, Sarah Fain and everyone at Sony and Gemstone did an excellent job on this series and, like all good things, it left us wanting more. We’re so happy to have Elena Roarke, Ruby Akuda and everyone on Fantasy Island open their world again for a brief visit this winter and for a longer stay next year.”

“We are thrilled to be back for a Season Two! Liz, Sarah, Roselyn and the whole Fantasy Island family reimagined this storied IP and gave it just the modern female flair it needed to resonate with audiences around the world. We’re so proud of the show and grateful for our stellar partners at Fox,” stated Marie Jacobson, EVP, Gemstone Studios.

Fantasy Island Description, Courtesy of Fox:

Fantasy Island takes place at a luxury resort, where literally any fantasy requested by guests is fulfilled, although they rarely turn out as expected. Delving into the “what if” questions — both big and small — that keep us awake at night, each episode will tell emotional, provocative stories about people who arrive with dreams and desires and depart enlightened and transformed through the magical realism of Fantasy Island.

The series stars actress, singer and songwriter Roselyn Sanchez as Elena Roarke, a descendant of the iconic Mr. Roarke, who set aside her own ambitions, and the love of her life, to uphold her family’s legacy. Sophisticated, insightful and always charming, Elena’s calm exterior masks the challenges of the responsibilities she has assumed as steward of this mysterious island. Kiara Barnes also stars as Ruby Akuda, a young woman with an old soul who arrived on Fantasy Island with a terminal illness and was given a new lease on life as Roarke’s right hand.

‘Scream’ Featurette Celebrates the Return of the Ghostface Killer

Original Scream star Courteney Cox begins the new Scream featurette by promising the Ghostface killer in this installment is as scary as ever. The minute and a half featurette explores the return of not just the Ghostface killer but how the new characters connect to the film franchise’s original players.

“Now’s the time to make a new Scream because we had a special story to tell that connects the legacy cast members with a new cast into the world of Woodsboro,” says Scream creator and executive producer Kevin Williamson.

The current target of the Ghostface killer calls on Dewey Riley for help since he’s so familiar with the killer’s MO. “Dewey is pulled back in because he’s still got a huge heart and really wants to help,” explains David Arquette.

Neve Campbell also returns to reprise her role as Sidney Prescott. The featurette reveals Dewey will draw Sidney back into the action, even though she’s moved on with her life, when he informs her there have been three attacks. “And then chaos ensues,” teases Campbell.

Melissa Barrera, Kyle Gallner, Mason Gooding, Mikey Madison, Dylan Minnette, Jenna Ortega, Jack Quaid, Marley Shelton, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Sonia Ammar join the world of Scream with the 2022 sequel/reboot/revival.

Dylan Minnette calls the upcoming entry in the franchise the perfect mix of new energy with what made Scream films special in the first place. And Jack Quaid claims 2022’s Scream will not be what people are expecting.

“There’s things that happen in this that are kind of shocking,” adds Cox. “I still can’t believe it.”

James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick wrote the screenplay based on characters created by Kevin Williamson. Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett directed, with Chad Villella, Gary Barber, Peter Oillataguerre, Ron Lynch, Cathy Konrad, and Marianne Maddalena executive producing.

Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media Group will release Scream in theaters on January 14, 2022.

The Plot:

“Twenty-five years after a streak of brutal murders shocked the quiet town of Woodsboro, a new killer has donned the Ghostface mask and begins targeting a group of teenagers to resurrect secrets from the town’s deadly past.”

‘Finch’ Review: Tom Hanks, a Robot, and a Cute Canine Go on a Road Trip

Finch Starring Tom Hanks
Tom Hanks and Caleb Landry Jones (as Jeff the robot) in ‘Finch’ (Photo Credit: Apple TV+)

Apple TV+’s Finch proves you really can’t go wrong when you team up Oscar-winner Tom Hanks with an adorable dog. Hanks working with a cute canine co-star is comfort food for audiences looking for a brief respite from a world gone mad. Toss in a robot named Jeff and you’ve got fine family entertainment with a surprisingly hopeful post-apocalyptic twist.

Directed by Miguel Sapochnik (Game of Thrones), the film’s set a decade after an extinction level event caused Earth to become so hot that nothing can survive outside during the day. Radiation levels and triple digit temperatures have killed off most of the human population (as well as the plants and animals), and the dog-loving Finch only managed to survive because his specific set of skills made him uniquely prepared to handle the situation.

Finch has wiled away the days, months, and years in an underground laboratory where he was employed prior to the apocalypse. He puts his knowledge as a robotics engineer to good use creating helpful and life-saving machines and technology, including a vehicle that looks like a modified lunar rover which he uses to retrieve items during foraging trips.

Life isn’t easy, but at least he has his beloved best friend, Goodyear the dog, to keep him company. And it’s because he’d do anything for his loyal companion that Finch decides to build a life-size robot.

Finch’s most impressive creation was designed with one objective in mind: when he dies, the robot will need to take over the care and feeding of Goodyear. Finch’s health is declining and Goodyear isn’t capable of surviving on his own.

Finch barely has time to upload encyclopedias and books on dogs into the robot (played by Caleb Landry Jones) before being forced to leave the bunker due to a devastating storm that will impact the lab’s electrical supply. The storm forces Finch to go on an unplanned road trip with a super chatty droid (that ultimately lands on the name Jeff after much deliberation), Dewey the lunar rover, and Goodyear inside an RV he’s adapted to run on solar power.

The oddball “family” hits the road and heads west, with San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge set as their destination. As the miles tick by and Finch’s health declines, Jeff does his best to comprehend the life lessons his creator attempts to impart as well as understand what it means to be alive.

With Tom Hanks the only human on screen and carrying on one-sided conversations, this 2021 post-apocalyptic sci-fi buddy road trip comedy has definite Cast Away vibes. Of course, there’s an upgrade to a furry, four-legged companion in place of Wilson the volleyball, but Hanks is still left doing nearly all the heavy lifting as the only flesh and blood actor. And that’s just fine as Hanks is perfectly capable of wringing every emotion out of an audience all on his own without ever playing it phony or manipulative.

It’s pretty much a given from the opening scenes where Finch is going to end up. The fact audiences won’t care the ending’s telegraphed from the get-go is due to the terrific performances by Hanks, a very talented dog, and Caleb Landry Jones in a motion capture suit. Jones does a wonderful job of conveying Jeff’s evolution from a robot who can barely walk to one that’s almost sentient. Finch and Jeff’s relationship transitions from creator and invention to mentor and student, and even edges toward father and son. Jones does an incredible job displaying this progression, altering his voice and speech patterns as his understanding of what it means to be alive grows.

Finch wraps us in a warm and fuzzy blanket of goodness, and also delivers a few tear-jerking moments for good measure. The relatively simple story – a man, a robot, and a dog go on a road trip after an apocalypse – turns out to have a surprising amount of layers and emotional depth. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry…but you’ll mostly laugh…as this weird threesome weaves its way into your heart.

‘FBI: International’ Season 1 Episode 6 Promo, Photos, and Plot Details

The agents are tasked with finding a missing negotiator on CBS’s FBI: International season one episode six. Directed by Anton Cropper from a script by Brooke Roberts, episode six – “The Secrets She Knows” – will air on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at 9pm ET/PT.

The season one cast includes Luke Kleintank as Special Agent Scott Forrester, Heida Reed as Special Agent Jamie Kellett, Carter Redwood as Special Agent Andre Raines, Vinessa Vidotto as Special Agent Cameron Vo, and Christiane Paul as Europol Agent Katrin Jaeger.

Episode six guest stars include Margo Seibert, Cas Anvar, Moe Irvin, Dan Bittner, and Brock Taylor Yurich.

“The Secrets She Knows” Plot: After a U.S. intelligence negotiator goes missing and her ransacked Paris apartment is discovered to be covered in her blood, the team is on the clock to find her before the country’s nuclear secrets fall into the wrong hands.

Also, Forrester finds himself drawing certain parallels to his mother’s disappearance.

Season One Description, Courtesy of CBS:

FBI: International is the third iteration of the successful FBI brand that follows the elite operatives of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s International Fly Team. Headquartered in Budapest, they travel the world with the mission of tracking and neutralizing threats against American citizens wherever they may be, putting their lives on the line to protect the U.S. and its people.

The Fly Team’s Special Agent Scott Forrester, their accomplished and dedicated leader, puts his missions ahead of his personal life and is rarely seen without the team’s “secret weapon” – their trusty Schutzhund dog, Tank. Second in command is Special Agent Jamie Kellett, not afraid to tussle – in an alley or courtroom – and her extensive network of informants is a powerful resource. Special Agent Andre Raines shines in the field and makes good use of his accounting background in tracking criminal enterprises’ moving money; and the group’s newest member is Special Agent Cameron Vo, a competitive West Point grad who excels at interrogation and strategy.

A key part of the mix is the unflappable Europol Agent Katrin Jaeger, a multilinguistic liaison between the FBI Fly Team and each host country they inhabit. Always at the scene where American interests are at risk, FBI: International is a globe-trotting depiction of law enforcement overseas.

‘The Power of the Dog’ Releases a Riveting New Trailer Along with Character Posters

The Oscar buzz is bound to increase following the release of a new official trailer for Netflix’s The Power of the Dog. The gritty Western is currently sitting at 92% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics ready to hand Benedict Cumberbatch his first Best Actor Oscar for his performance in Academy Award winner Jane Campion’s latest drama.

In addition to Cumberbatch, the film stars Kirsten Dunst, Jesse Plemons, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Thomasin McKenzie, Frances Conroy, Keith Carradine, Peter Carroll, and Adam Beach. Dunst and Plemons play a married couple in the film and off-screen the duo – who met while working on FX’s Fargo – have two children together.

Writer/director Campion produces along with Emile Sherman, Iain Canning, Roger Frappier, and Tanya Seghatchian. Campion’s behind the scenes team includes Director of Photography Ari Wegner, Production Designer Grant Major, Costume Designer Kirsty Cameron, Composer Jonny Greenwood, and Editor Peter Scibberas. The Power of the Dog is a See-Saw Films, Bad Girl Creek and Max Films production in association with Brightstar, The New Zealand Film Commission, Cross City Films and BBC Film.

Netflix has set a November 17, 2021 release in select theaters followed by a December 1st release on the streaming service.

The Plot:

“Severe, pale-eyed, handsome, Phil Burbank is brutally beguiling. All of Phil’s romance, power and fragility is trapped in the past and in the land: He can castrate a bull calf with two swift slashes of his knife; he swims naked in the river, smearing his body with mud. He is a cowboy as raw as his hides.

The year is 1925. The Burbank brothers are wealthy ranchers in Montana. At the Red Mill restaurant on their way to market, the brothers meet Rose, the widowed proprietress, and her impressionable son Peter. Phil behaves so cruelly he drives them both to tears, reveling in their hurt and rousing his fellow cowhands to laughter – all except his brother George, who comforts Rose then returns to marry her.

As Phil swings between fury and cunning, his taunting of Rose takes an eerie form – he hovers at the edges of her vision, whistling a tune she can no longer play. His mockery of her son is more overt, amplified by the cheering of Phil’s cowhand disciples. Then Phil appears to take the boy under his wing. Is this latest gesture a softening that leaves Phil exposed, or a plot twisting further into menace?”

The first batch of photos have arrived from AMC+’s upcoming original series, Firebite, created by Warwick Thornton (Samson and Delilah, Sweet Country) and Brendan Fletcher (Mad Bastards). AMC+ has set a December 16, 2021 premiere date, with new episodes dropping on subsequent Thursdays.

Series creators Thornton and Fletcher serve as writers, directors, and executive producers, with Tony Krawitz (The Tall Man) also directing. Firebite‘s an AMC Studios production with See-Saw Films. Rachel Gardner and See-Saw Films’ Emile Sherman and Iain Canning executive produce.

AMC+ released the following synopsis of the new vampire series:

Firebite takes a new spin on the vampire genre, following two Indigenous Australian hunters, Tyson (Collins) and Shanika (Barnes-Cowan), on their quest to battle the last colony of vampires in the middle of the South Australian desert.

Firebite is set in a remote desert mining town, a hive for the last vampire stronghold shipped from Britain to Australia in 1788 by the colonial superpower to eradicate the Indigenous populations. Sheltering from the sun in the underground mines and tunnels that surround the town until the present day, the colony’s numbers and hunger is growing. War is coming. Tyson and Shanika stand vanguard to the war. But what hope does an expertly reckless man full of bravado and a 17-year-old orphan possibly have to defeat these vicious blood-thirsty parasites, when legions of warriors before them have failed?”
