‘Lucifer’ Season 3 Episode 9 Recap: The Sinnerman is Revealed

Fox’s Lucifer season three episode nine finally revealed the identity of the serial killer known as the Sinnerman. Unfortunately for poor Lucifer (Tom Ellis), the reveal of the person committing the brutal murders came only after two people Lucifer had done favors for were found dead. Episode nine also brought Maze back into the mix and moved forward a certain romantic relationship some Lucifans have been hoping for.

Season three episode nine begins with self-described nice guy Joey Pileggi (Andy Cohen) asking Lucifer for a favor. Lucifer, back in the satisfying desires mode, asks what he wants.

Next, Lucifer pays Dr. Linda (Rachael Harris) a visit and she wants to know why his celestial gift is “desire.” Lucifer teases that he was sorted into a house in angel school – he’s pulling a whole Harry Potter at Hogwarts thing – and Dr. Linda falls for it. “There’s no Hogwarts in the sky,” laughs Lucifer. He finally gets serious and says that’s just the way he was born.

She wonders if his powers shaped his personality or his personality shaped his powers, and Lucifer admits he doesn’t know. He just thinks his powers are perfect for him because desire is all about free will.

Over at the police station, Marcus Pierce (Tom Welling) is back at work but he admits to Chloe (Lauren German) the wound still hurts. She needs a day off and he doesn’t immediately grant it. Instead, he takes it under advisement.

Chloe’s still pissed about Marcus’ answer when she and Lucifer arrive at a new crime scene. She thinks Marcus is a jerk and then Lucifer asks the same question Marcus did, why does she need a personal day? She gives him the same answer, “It’s personal.”

Ella (Aimee Garcia) is already at the murder scene and Lucifer immediately recognizes Joey as the murder victim. He admits he just did the kid a favor a few months ago. Chloe pulls him aside and Lucifer explains about the favor, and she can’t believe he’s still granting favors. Lucifer confesses Joey wanted to be the new Scarface for millennials, so he got him an internship with the mob.

Joey’s legs were broken and he has two gunshot wounds to the chest, and Ella quickly determines the broken legs happened after he was dead. Lucifer reveals the legs were probably broken because he was a “runner” for the mob.

Over at Dr. Linda’s office, she and Amenadiel (DB Woodside) share a laugh over Lucifer’s angel school joke, although Linda doesn’t think it’s as funny as Amenadiel apparently does. He can’t believe she thinks angel school is a thing. She reminds him that all of this is crazy, so angel school could be real. She then wonders why his power is slowing down time and he explains it’s so he can do his dad’s work on Earth without anyone being the wiser. Linda thinks that’s sad because it means he doesn’t really get to know people. He admits he never really wanted to…until recently.

Maze (Lesley-Ann Brandt) busts in and she and Linda share a hug. (Maze’s portion includes grabbing Linda’s butt.) Amenadiel fills Maze in on the fact Linda believes in angel school. Maze laughs but seems a little put off by the fact Linda and Amenadiel are now friends and hang out. It’s obvious she’s a little jealous.

Back at the station, Ella shows them Joey’s shoe and she’s excited to announce they’re limited editions worth a grand. Charlotte (Tricia Helfer) joins Lucifer, Chloe, Dan (Kevin Alejandro), and Ella and reveals she’s now a prosecutor. Surprise! They can’t believe it and Ella acts strange when they talk about what instigated Charlotte’s career change.

Ella talks about all the cash and stuff Joey had hidden, and it’s way more than he should have earned from being a runner. Charlotte says if Joey was skimming off the top, then he would have been executed by his bosses. The killing wouldn’t have taken place the way they found Joey’s body.

Chloe’s going to bring in Frankie Ferrante, the person Lucifer sent Joey to to mentor.

Linda and Amenadiel try and figure out why Maze was weirded out by their friendship. They compliment each other and the sparks are flying all over the place. They kiss and Linda’s the first to pull away. She says it’s a mistake and Amenadiel is a gentleman about it. He apologizes, and then they kiss again!

Once again at the station, Charlotte provides some help because she knows Frankie Ferrante. Chloe accepts her offer but wants Charlotte to “keep a low profile” during the interrogation. Frankie (Andy Davoli) doesn’t admit to knowing Lucifer, but he does admit to having worked with Charlotte in the past. (She has to explain she’s now with the cops.) Frankie claims he doesn’t know Joey. Lucifer threatens Frankie and then Chloe makes Frankie admit he did actually know Joey. Lucifer uses his special angel school desire trick and Frankie reveals they all loved Joey and would have protected him. They were all generous to Joey and treated him like family. Frankie wants to help bring in the killer.

Dan interrupts the interrogation to confirm Frankie’s not the killer. His alibi checks out and they have another body.

They arrive at the new murder scene to find a victim with the same wounds. Lucifer also knows this woman, telling Chloe he did this woman a favor a few years ago. He’s certain the murders are a message for him.

Frieda Marquis is the victim and Ella explains the noose around her neck was made from her own hair. She, like Joey, died from two gunshots to the chest. Frieda wanted to be a hairstylist to the stars says Lucifer, and Ella fangirls over Frieda’s hair care products.

Chloe quietly asks Lucifer who he thinks is sending the messages, admitting she’s worried about him. Lucifer insists the killer must be the Sinnerman, but Chloe reminds him there’s no evidence such a person exists. Lucifer is positive this is the Sinnerman’s way of escalating their rivalry.

As they talk, Marcus arrives at the crime scene to back up Lucifer’s story. He agrees this is the work of the Sinnerman and Chloe’s shocked to learn Marcus and Lucifer have discussed this before. Marcus takes the blame for not filling her in, and then adds that it’s not really the Sinnerman’s MO to taunt a nightclub owner. Lucifer’s a small fish compared to the Sinnerman’s other victims, according to Marcus.

Lucifer keeps getting calls from an unknown number but doesn’t answer.

Lucifer heads off to his place and calls his brother for help on the Sinnerman. He doesn’t even realize Maze is back but when he discovers she’s standing in his living room he’s super happy to see her since he needs her help. She can’t believe he doesn’t even care about her needs and is only happy she’s returned because of how it affects him. (Did she forget she’s talking to Lucifer?)

Lucifer finally answers the phone, trying to get rid of the telemarketer who’s been calling him. Turns out it’s not a telemarketer – it’s the Sinnerman.

Back at the station, Ella has found the DNA of the Sinnerman. She found skin under Frieda’s fingernails and a hair at Joey’s place and knows the killer was at both scenes. She dug even further and found a perfect match to an old Sinnerman case in Chicago. Chloe calls Ella a miracle worker and then gets distracted watching Marcus walk through the station, muscles bulging. Ella can’t believe there’s nothing going on between Chloe and Marcus since there are so many sparks.

Chloe tells Marcus she found the Sinnerman’s DNA at the scenes and she wants to lean on Frankie. Marcus offers to help, but she opts to take Charlotte instead.

An angry Lucifer meets the Sinnerman at the designated location, a slaughterhouse. Lucifer is tricked into walking into a trap, with the doors closing behind him. The Sinnerman (Kevin Carroll) is communicating via closed-circuit television and Lucifer demands to know why he killed Frieda and Joey. Sinnerman says they were just bait and now Lucifer’s trapped.

Lucifer declares he’s no mouse and tries to break the wall down. Unfortunately, it’s a foot of reinforced steel. It also turns out the Sinnerman believes Lucifer is the Devil. Lucifer wonders how the Sinnerman returned his wings and changed his Devil face, and the Sinnerman taunts him that he’ll be trapped in the building for years.

Lucifer can’t use his Jedi mind trick because the man’s wearing sunglasses. He promises the Sinnerman he’ll find out what he really wants and then he’ll destroy him.

Chloe and Charlotte show up at a restaurant to talk to Frankie, but Chloe makes Charlotte promise she’ll stick to the script before they go inside. She does.

They take a seat at the table with Frankie and some of his people, and Chloe asks about the Sinnerman. Frankie claims he’s never heard of him and Charlotte promises if he helps, it will be worth his while. He’ll have a friend inside the D.A.’s office next time he needs it.

Chloe and Charlotte leave without getting any answers. Chloe explains she knew Frankie wouldn’t talk to the cops, but since they’ve disclosed the killer was the Sinnerman, Frankie will be hunting him down on his own. When he finds him, the cops will step in.

Charlotte heads home while Chloe sticks around to watch Frankie. It turns out Marcus is also in the restaurant parking lot and he’s going to handle stakeout duty with Chloe.

Lucifer’s rescue comes in the form of a very upset Maze. She opens the door and he’s happy to see her, but of course makes everything about himself once again. She tracked him down because she wanted to talk and she’s pissed he’s hiding in a freezer. He yells at her that he’s a prisoner trapped by the Sinnerman. Maze can’t believe he was trapped and she steps out of the room, locking the door behind her.

Lucifer pounds on the door and yells at her to think of someone else’s needs. Maze assures him he can only get out once he listens to her. Plus, he has to act like he cares. She asks if he knows Linda and Amenadiel are a thing, and Lucifer’s genuinely shocked. He reminds her that talking in Dr. Linda’s office is what she does, so maybe they were just chatting. Lucifer adds that he doesn’t care if Linda and Amenadiel are a thing and she shouldn’t either. And then Lucifer figures out that Maze is still “hot for angel.”

Maze denies it and says she’s upset because Linda is her best friend and Amenadiel’s her ex. “So, you don’t want him but nobody else can have him? That’s awfully greedy of you, Maze,” says the still-confined Lucifer.

Maze demands to know what’s going on and Lucifer tells her to ask herself what it is she truly desires. She must answer that question honestly. She’s silent and then finally sets Lucifer free.

Marcus and Chloe continue their stakeout, and Marcus is fully aware she wants to say something to him. She confesses she wants to know why the Sinnerman case is so important to him, and Marcus claims it’s simply because it’s so high priority. Chloe doesn’t believe that and thinks it’s personal. Marcus finally admits the Sinnerman killed his brother. He wants to make him pay.

Chloe reveals she asked for a personal day because it’s the anniversary of her father’s death. She tells him about finding the guy who did it a few months back and she wasn’t sure what she’d do. She ultimately did the right thing and arrested him. She explains she doesn’t talk about it – not even to Lucifer. She suggests Marcus think about what he really wants and warns him not to do something he’ll regret. (There’s a lot of that “think about what you really want” advice going around this episode.)

Chloe and Marcus watch someone walk into the restaurant but don’t follow, thinking it’s probably just someone reporting on the Sinnerman’s identity to Frankie. Lucifer calls and explains he was held captive by the Sinnerman, providing a description of the man complete with a critique of his sweater vest. Chloe realizes the person walking into the restaurant is the killer. She leaves the phone in the car as she and Marcus head into the restaurant.

Lucifer, concerned, speeds toward the restaurant.

Chloe and Marcus enter, guns drawn. Sinnerman has already shot some of the mobsters and shoots at Chloe before running into the kitchen. She follows him, warning there are units outside. She promises to take him in if he gives up. He doesn’t and keeps shooting.

Chloe and the Sinnerman exchange gunfire in the kitchen before he takes off running. Marcus tackles him outside and wrestles with himself over shooting his brother’s killer. Chloe offers her help and Marcus makes the right decision and places the Sinnerman under arrest.

Lucifer arrives after the Sinnerman’s arrested, but Chloe stops him from talking to the killer for now.

No one notices the Sinnerman has managed to get a pen and slips it up his sleeve as the cops take him away.

Maze shows up at Dr. Linda’s and Linda’s acting strange when she reluctantly lets her in. Maze admits it was weird seeing her so “chummy” with Amenadiel. She also admits that Linda is her best friend and Amenadiel is one of a million exes, and she feels left out. She doesn’t want Linda and Amenadiel to get together, and Linda understands. Maze makes it worse by describing her sexual adventures with Amenadiel, explaining she touched nerves Amenadiel didn’t know he had.

Once more to the station and Charlotte is crying in the bathroom when Dan asks if she’s okay. She confesses she’s not okay and that she’s not any closer to being a better person after switching to the prosecution side. She sucks at being good, and Dan comforts her by saying no one expects her to change overnight. He confides that he makes mistakes and advises her not to quit.

Only after they talk and she feels better does Charlotte realize she’s in the mens room.

Lucifer looks around the police station as everyone is going about their business. He sees Charlotte, Marcus, Dan, and Chloe, and you can see he’s just waiting for a chance at the Sinnerman. Lucifer sees his opportunity and enters the interrogation room. It’s just Lucifer and the Sinnerman when the Devil reminds the serial killer he was going to look into his eyes, find out what he desires, and then take it from him. The Sinnerman won’t look at Lucifer and only then does Lucifer realize the Sinnerman has blinded himself. “Now you’ll never know what I wanted,” says the Sinnerman.

‘Doctor Who’ – Pearl Mackie Interview on Playing Bill Potts and Being a Part of the Iconic Series

BBC America’s Doctor Who Christmas Special will send off the current Doctor, Peter Capaldi, and it will also, sadly, be the final episode for fan favorite Pearl Mackie. Mackie plays companion Bill Potts opposite Capaldi, and fans of the long-running sci-fi series quickly latched on to and embraced Mackie’s character as soon as she was introduced.

The 2017 Doctor Who Christmas Special is titled “Twice Upon a Time” and will air on Christmas. BBC America has confirmed the official synopsis: “The magical final chapter of the Twelfth Doctor’s (Peter Capaldi) journey sees the Time Lord team up with his former self, the first ever Doctor (David Bradley) and a returning Bill Potts (Pearl Mackie), for one last adventure.

Two Doctors stranded in an Arctic snowscape, refusing to face regeneration. Enchanted glass people, stealing their victims from frozen time. And a World War One captain destined to die on the battlefield, but taken from the trenches to play his part in the Doctor’s story.

An uplifting new tale about the power of hope in humanity’s darkest hours, ‘Twice Upon A Time’ marks the end of an era. But as the Doctor must face his past to decide his future, his journey is only just beginning…”

Mackie took part in the 2017 San Diego Comic Con and in addition to participating in a panel in front of a jam-packed crowd, she also sat down for roundtable interviews. In our interview, Pearl Mackie discussed her feelings about the show’s impact on audiences and about being part of the Doctor Who universe.

Doctor Who Pearl Mackie Interview:

What is the absolute best thing about being part of the Doctor Who world?

Pearl Mackie: “I think all of it. Everything. I think Doctor Who is such a wonderful show that people relate to so individually, and personally, and differently. Everyone, I think, has something special that they get from it. It seems to really resonate with people in a really powerful way, actually.

I think people really engage with it and engage with the issues, and engage with the emotional journeys of all the characters. As an actress, that’s a wonderful thing to be able to give, essentially, to be able to explore something that people really, really relate to and people really resonate to.”

Was there one particular fan encounter that really did resonate with you about what you just said regarding Doctor Who’s impact on people?

Pearl Mackie: “Well, actually two, but they’re both quite similar. There was one…I was in a Pret in North London. I can’t remember what I was doing, just wandering around probably, wandering around trying to get something to eat, and this woman came up to me and was like, ‘You’re amazing. You’re amazing on the show. My daughter just loves you.’ And this little girl just bounced out from behind her mom, with this curly hair, everywhere. She was wearing like a ballet getup. She had just been to ballet or something and she was on this pink scooter. She was just like, ‘Hey, Bill!’ I go, ‘Hello, nice to meet you.’ She’s like, ‘I love you!’ (Laughing) I was like this is so great. I said, ‘So nice to meet you,’ and I went to shake her hand. She launched herself at me and just gave me a massive hug.

I think to be able to see that with young kids, especially young kids of color who don’t see themselves so much on screen… We’re getting better these days, but I know when I was young I didn’t see many people who looked like me on the screen. For me, that was something. She sort of bounced off and was really happy. I don’t know if it was something that she had consciously gone, ‘Hey, she looks like me.’ But I think for me it’s great to be able to experience that, experience the joy that that gives to kids and adults, and everyone, really.”

Bill’s sexual orientation really threw a lot of people. Do you hope people start to see that as just part of the human condition, so it doesn’t make waves?

Pearl Mackie: “Yes, exactly. I do. You have summed it up. I do hope that, yes. I think we should continue moving forward in that direction, for sure.”

A lead role in Doctor Who has increasingly become a launch pad to great career things.

Pearl Mackie: “Fingers crossed!”

What personal career ambitions do you have for the future that you may be able to achieve as a result of being a part of Doctor Who?

Pearl Mackie: “I mean, yes, firstly you’re right. Looking at previous companions and the journeys that they’ve been on, that they’re still on, there are some incredible alumni as Doctor Who companions. For me, there are so many things that I would like to explore as an actress.

Essentially for me it’s about character; that’s what really gets me. It’s about someone who’s real…or not real. I’m not adverse to playing unreal people. But, yeah, as long as like the journey’s real and the emotions are real, that’s what I want to explore. Something with an interesting story. I want to play some characters that are struggling with some stuff, maybe. I think it’s nice to be able to explore. I mean, not nice, but it’s good to be able to explore people who aren’t just happy and chilling, you know? Not that Bill was in any way. I’m not saying that at all. This has been an amazing character and an amazing journey. I’d like to just do lots more, really.

I still don’t really know what I’m doing, especially in front of a camera. So, I’d like to do a little bit more of that just so I can make sure it wasn’t just the wonderful crew that we had on Doctor Who that enabled me to actually do it.”

‘Gotham’ Season 4 Episode 11 Preview: Photos from “Queen Takes Knight”

Fox’s Gotham season four episode 10 found unlikely allies going up against Penguin. It also featured a very disturbing scene in which Penguin appeared to sacrifice his young orphan friend, Martin. Fortunately, the kid’s death was staged and The Penguin didn’t actually toss away his last scrap of humanity. Even with the fake death, Penguin definitely took another step toward the dark side.

Episode 10 also featured Jim Gordon and Lucius Fox working together to discover Professor Pyg’s true identity. It turns out the man who’s obsessed with swine is actually serial killer Lazlo Valentine. Unfortunately, Lazlo escaped from Arkham and is now back on the loose.

Jim was also busy dealing with the Penguin and Sofia situation, and a deal was struck to send Sofia away to safety. Barbara and her gang complicated that plan which led to the whole fake killing of Martin thing. In the upcoming season four fall finale, it appears Penguin is once again set on going to war with the GCPD.

Up next, season four episode 11 titled “Queen Takes Knight” airing December 7, 2017. The episode’s guest cast includes Michael Cerveris as Professor Pyg, Cameron Monaghan as Jerome, John Doman as Carmine Falcone, and Anthony Carrigan as Zsasz.

Season four’s main cast features Ben McKenzie as Detective James Gordon, Donal Logue as Harvey Bullock, David Mazouz as Bruce Wayne, Morena Baccarin as Leslie Thompkins, Sean Pertwee as Alfred, Robin Lord Taylor as The Penguin, Erin Richards as Barbara Kean, Camren Bicondova as Selina Kyle/the future Catwoman, Cory Michael Smith as Edward Nygma/the Riddler, Jessica Lucas as Tabitha Galavan, Chris Chalk as Lucius Fox, Drew Powell as Butch Gilzean/Solomon Grundy, Alexander Siddig as Ra’s Ah Ghul, and Crystal Reed as Sofia Falcone.

The “A Dark Knight: Queen Takes Knight” Plot: Things get complicated for Gordon, Sophia and Penguin when Carmine Falcone (guest star John Doman) comes to town. Alfred tries to get through to Bruce once and for all, while Nygma struggles to gain control over The Riddler persona and Tabitha attempts to make Grundy remember his past. Meanwhile, a familiar smile resurfaces in Gotham.

“The Annies continue to grow in the number of submissions again this year, pointing out animation’s diversity in both style and storytelling, not only from our local community, but from the industry world-wide,” stated ASIFA’s Executive Director Frank Gladstone. “That the Annies are now an established and important part of the ‘Award Season’ is enormously gratifying for all of us who tell our stories frame by frame.”

“No doubt about it, our nominees represent the best work in the field,” said ASIFA-Hollywood President Jerry Beck. “I am particularly proud of the diversity of voices, techniques and artistic styles displayed in the feature films, television programming, independent shorts, commercials and gaming we screened this year. The animation community embodies the finest qualities of the creative arts – and our Annie nominees this year certainly bare that out.”

ASIFA Hollywood will also be recognizing achievements and contributions to the world of animation with special Juried Awards. The 2018 recipients include British character animator, James Baxter; SpongeBob SquarePants creator, Stephen Hillenburg; and the Canadian animation duo, Wendy Tilby & Amanda Forbis, for their career contributions to the art of animation. Box Office Report: ‘Coco’ is Still #1

Disney•Pixar’s critically acclaimed animated film Coco retained its hold on the top spot at the box office over the December 1-3, 2017 weekend. Coco‘s repeat win wasn’t a surprise as the studios basically bailed on the weekend, with no major releases hitting theaters on December 1st. Films with awards buzz, including Lady Bird, The Shape of Water, and The Disaster Artist, opened or expanded in limited release, however the big studios took the weekend after the extended Thanksgiving holiday off from launching new movies.

Coco won’t be facing any real competition on December 8th, either, with Broad Green Pictures’ Just Getting Started starring Morgan Freeman, Tommy Lee Jones, and Rene Russo the only scheduled new wide release. It’s not until Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens on December 15th that the box office will spring back to life. December 15th is also the release date of Fox’s animated comedy, Ferdinand, featuring the voices of John Cena, Kate McKinnon, Gina Rodriguez, Daveed Diggs, Gabriel Iglesias, Bobby Cannavale, David Tennant, and Anthony Anderson.

Box Office Top 10: December 1-3, 2017

  1. Coco – $26,114,000
  2. Justice League – $16,580,000
  3. Wonder – $12,500,000
  4. Thor: Ragnarok – $9,659,000
  5. Daddy’s Home 2 – $7,500,000
  6. Murder on the Orient Express – $6,700,000
  7. Lady Bird – $4,543,990
  8. Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri – $4,530,000
  9. The Star – $4,000,000
  10. A Bad Moms Christmas – $3,480,000

The “Coco” Plot: Despite his family’s baffling generations-old ban on music, Miguel (voice of newcomer Anthony Gonzalez) dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol, Ernesto de la Cruz (voice of Benjamin Bratt). Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the stunning and colorful Land of the Dead following a mysterious chain of events. Along the way, he meets charming trickster Hector (voice of Gael García Bernal), and together, they set off on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel’s family history.

‘Supernatural’ Season 13 Episode 9 Preview: Photos, Trailer and Plot Details

Sam and Dean continued their search for the missing nephilim, Jack, in The CW’s Supernatural season 13 episode eight. Fortunately for the bros, Bart the crossroads demon claimed to be a fan of theirs and offered up half a spell that could lead them to Jack. In order to obtain the other half, Bart made the Winchesters help him break into a house belonging to Luther Shrike – a murderer who hoards supernatural items – to retrieve an item he needed.

The task wasn’t simple and of course it didn’t go the way they planned. By the end of the episode Luther literally lost his head, the conniving Bart was dead, and unfortunately the Winchesters were no closer to finding Jack. However, Sam was surprisingly optimistic about the odds of locating Jack sometime soon.

Up next, season 13 episode nine titled “The Bad Place” airing December 7, 2017. Phil Sgriccia directs from a script by Robert Berens. The season 13 cast includes Jensen Ackles as Dean, Jared Padalecki as Sam, Misha Collins as Castiel, Mark Pellegrino as Lucifer, Alexander Calvert as Jack, and Samantha Smith as Mary Winchester.

“The Bad Place” Plot: JACK AND KAIA DISRUPT THE WORLD – Jack (Calvert), desperate to prove to Sam (Padalecki) and Dean (Ackles) that he is good and that he can control his powers, enlists the help of a dreamcatcher named Kaia (guest star Yadira Guevara-Prip) to help him find Mary Winchester (Smith) and save her from the alternate universe. However, when plans go awry, the Winchester brothers are the ones who need saving.

The Season 13 Plot: The exciting journey of the Winchester brothers continues as Supernatural enters its thirteenth season. Sam and Dean have encountered every kind of supernatural threat, facing down monsters, demons, and gods. Saving people, hunting things, and keeping the world safe. In the show’s twelfth season, the Winchesters were reunited with their long-dead mother, and joined forces with the British arm of the Men of Letters. But things turned from bad to worse, with the return of Lucifer and the surprising revelation that the Devil is expecting a child. Now, Sam and Dean find themselves facing a creature of almost unimaginable power… one that could save the world… or destroy it.

‘The Walking Dead’ Season 8 Episode 7 Recap: Time for After

The Walking Dead Season 8 Episode 7 Recap
R. Keith Harris as Dr. Carson and Josh McDermitt as Dr. Eugene Porter in ‘The Walking Dead’ season 8 episode 7 (Photo Credit: Gene Page / AMC)

AMC’s The Walking Dead season eight episode six left off with Daryl, Tara, Rosita, and Michonne going rogue and deciding to attack the Sanctuary. The episode came to a close with Rick (Andrew Lincoln) locked up inside a cargo container by Jadis and the Scavengers. Season eight episode seven titled “Time for After” begins with Rick alone and sweating inside the container. The door opens and it’s revealed Rick’s only wearing his boxers and his hands are tied. He reminds them all it’s not too late to join them.

Jadis (Pollyanna McIntosh) takes Rick’s photo as one of the Scavengers draws his picture. Jadis reveals the pictures will be used to sculpt him “after.” She doesn’t explain what she means by after, but it sounds ominous.

Back at the Sanctuary, Eugene (Josh McDermitt) makes a list of what he knows and doesn’t know. He closes the notepad before he writes down a single item. He then visits Dwight (Austin Amelio), acknowledging he knows Dwight is the traitor. He also reveals that Negan’s charged him with finding the traitor. If Dwight stops, Eugene promises he won’t give away his secret.

Dwight explains that the Saviors and Negan are done. Supplies are running low, the workers are scared, and if Eugene just lets everything play out, he’ll come out on the winning side. If not, then Eugene will have blood on his hands. Eugene claims he just wants to be safe and it doesn’t appear he’s changing his mind about supporting Negan. Still, he won’t tell Negan about Dwight if Dwight doesn’t make it so that anyone left in the building is harmed.

Eugene heads downstairs where hundreds of walkers are attempting to get in. A Savior tells him she believes they’ll make it through into the building in no more than a day or two.

Next, Dr. Carson tells Eugene that Father Gabriel only has a few days left unless they get medication. Eugene understands why Father Gabriel was part of the attack on the complex, but he doesn’t forgive him for it. The doctor makes Eugene stay with his “friend” while he looks for anything that could help Father Gabriel.

Father Gabriel (Seth Gilliam) can barely speak and Eugene compares his physical state to that of a potato and sh*t casserole. It’s obvious Father Gabriel’s in bad shape, but he once again asks Eugene to help him get Dr. Carson out of the Sanctuary. Eugene reminds him he doesn’t stick his neck out for anyone, but Father Gabriel wants him to do the right thing. Eugene, however, isn’t sure what the definition of the right thing is. Eugene doesn’t have faith in God or that there’s a bigger plan. Father Gabriel says it’s not difficult to believe Eugene will know what the right thing to do is when the time comes. He believes he’ll act appropriately at the right time.

Morgan (Lennie James) scopes out the walkers outside the Sanctuary, in contact via radio with other snipers. They realize the truck that’s just pulled up is one of theirs.

Tonya visits Eugene’s room, asking if he fixed her boombox. He can’t believe she’s worried about that, but she wants her music. Their deal was for two bottles of liquor when the repair was completed, but he asks for the second bottle in advance. He claims he needs it to sleep. Tonya reminds him he could have made this place better when he first arrived, but instead he only took care of himself. She gives him the bottle, telling him it won’t help him sleep.

Daryl (Norman Reedus) wants Tara (Alanna Masterson), Rosita (Christian Serratos), and Michonne (Danai Gurira) to cover him while he crashes the truck into the Sanctuary. The walkers will then be able to enter the building and attack the Saviors. There are no more big weapons housed in the Saviors’ building, so they believe they’ll be okay.

Morgan walks up and says he and the other snipers will have their backs. They have a debate over whether to act now or follow Rick’s plans. Tara is upset that she waited once before, but Rosita still believes in Rick. She leaves the group, but not before making sure Michonne is good with this decision. Rosita believes they need to wait, but it appears the rest of the team are dead set on crashing into the building.

Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) sits alone in the meeting room. He motions Eugene in and assures him he doesn’t want to let the Saviors die, even though he knows he will survive. Negan recognizes that Eugene is smart, and he wants to make sure Eugene knows he knows that. He offers Eugene his hand and Eugene goes to kiss it. Negan snatches it away, saying he was only offering it for a handshake. He reminds Eugene he doesn’t shake hands often as it’s a sign of mutual respect.

Back in his bedroom, Eugene works on the boombox, staring at its speaker. He heads down to a storage area as he looks for parts. He spots Sasha’s coffin and pauses for a moment, emotional, before opening it to retrieve her iPod.

The Walking Dead Season 8 Episode 7 Recap

Morgan watches as Daryl, Michonne, and Tara drive the truck closer to the Sanctuary. Morgan tells Daryl to cut the engine so he won’t draw the walkers’ attention. Michonne doesn’t look completely committed to this plan, and she suggests to Daryl that maybe they should trust the old plan will keep working. She doesn’t think this new plan is worth risking them. Daryl replies, “It is for me.” Michonne tells him she hopes it works but that she can’t do it.

Tara is still on board as are the four snipers, but Michonne leaves.

Eugene has built a remote-control airplane and he’s going to use it to play music and lead the walkers away. He makes a recording of what he’s doing, positive he’ll be successful. Just as he’s about to launch it, Dwight sneaks up and tells him not to turn around.

Tara gets into position and Morgan’s snipers are ready for Daryl and his truck.

Dwight tells Eugene to back away from the airplane. Eugene can’t believe Dwight would kill everyone inside the building. Dwight reminds him it means Negan will kill Rick and all the others if Eugene launches this plane. Dwight says they’re just traveling companions and not friends so he’s okay with that. Eugene doesn’t believe Negan can be killed by anyone, and he has the remote control ready to push to launch.

Dwight continues to point the gun at Eugene’s head, but he allows him to launch the plane and doesn’t shoot. The plane soars over the walkers.

Daryl drives the truck toward the building as Dwight shoots the plane out of the air.

Outside the fence, the snipers and Tara begin firing into the building to cover for Daryl. Daryl rolls out of the truck as the truck smashes into the building. Daryl and Tara escape while the walkers pour into the Sanctuary.

The Saviors shoot the walkers but there are too many of them. They flee into the upper levels as the walkers continue to make their way inside. Eugene watches as it happens, completely stunned. Even Dwight shoots at the walkers as they begin feasting on the Saviors.

Eugene charges into Father Gabriel’s room and tells him he’s not on board with helping Dr. Carson escape. He goes off on a rant, saying he will survive and he will help Negan. He’ll turn in traitors and do whatever he has to do to live.

Eugene meets with Negan and tells him he needs his machines back to make more ammunition to save the Sanctuary. Negan reminds him that when he gets free of this mess, he’ll dump a sh*tstorm on Rick. Eugene’s okay with that and in fact, feels great that he can help Negan and the Saviors.

Eugene is about to reveal Dwight is the traitor when a few Saviors arrive, including Dwight. Negan tells them Eugene has solved this mess and instead of revealing Dwight as the traitor, Eugene says he can fix the intercom system to help with communications.

Eugene returns to his room, crying. He’s only in this for himself and he didn’t turn in Dwight when he had the chance. He downs some alcohol and then throws up. (It looks like wine but he shot it like real alcohol.)

Rick’s let out of the cargo container and he’s walked into the center of the Scavengers’ compound. He’s forced to kneel as a walker is led out by Jadis. She says, “Time for After,” and Rick springs into action. He attacks any Scavengers who enter the area and uses the walker as a weapon. He finally removes the walker’s head and attacks Jadis.

Rick is able to get Jadis’ gun away from her and then he’s surrounded by Scavengers. Holding Jadis inches from the walker’s mouth, he reiterates that he is leaving. However, he warns them his people will return to kill them all. He suggests that after he leaves, they all run.

Jadis instructs her people to lower their weapons. Rick leans in and asks Jadis, “We done?” She agrees, and he helps her to stand. She asks what will happen if she joins them. He explains the Sanctuary is surrounded by walkers and when the time comes, the Saviors will surrender to his group. He will then kill Negan himself. She agrees but wants him to pose naked for a sculpture after it’s all done as part of the deal. Rick refuses that demand and they finally settle on the Scavengers getting a fourth of the Saviors’ property when it’s all done.

Rick arrives with the Scavengers a distance from the Sanctuary to find walkers eating people. The snipers don’t answer when he calls them on the walkie-talkie, so he climbs the water tower. He’s shocked to see a hole in the side of the Sanctuary and realizes the walkers have all entered the building.

‘Outlander’ Season 3 Episode 12 Recap: The Bakra

Outlander Season 3 Episode 12 Recap
Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan in ‘Outlander’ season 3 episode 12 (Photo Credit: Starz)

Starz’s Outlander season three episode 12 is full of old ghosts, old wardrobes, and old unfinished business. If you watched this episode’s preview, you already know some of what I’m referring to. And if you read the book, you know the rest of what I mean.

We start with young Ian (John Bell)…poor, dear young Ian. We finally get to see his side of events as we begin this twelfth episode of season three in Starz’s Outlander series, “The Bakra.” The word Bakra means boss. Just who do you think that might refer to in this long grocery list of characters? Let’s find out, shall we?

We already know young Ian was snatched by pirates. We begin by seeing him dragged off the island holding the chest, right back to where Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) are shouting from the shoreline. Ian doesn’t go without fighting his captors, but he’s forced aboard the Bruja, very harshly treated though not hurt, and delivered to Jamaica.

Ian’s thrown into a cell where he finds other young men hiding and locked up. Ian’s told a tale of other young men who were in the same cell but were taken to see the Bakra and never returned. Of course, Ian asks what a Bakra is. When next we see him, Ian’s having his meeting with the aforementioned Bakra.

A slave servant named Hercules (Apolinhalo Antonio) takes Ian to a room and sits him down on a bed. He promptly leaves the room as Ian contemplates his fate, based on what the other prisoners told him. The next thing Ian sees is a blood-coated foot rise in the air to catch his attention. He hadn’t noticed the figure in the bath directly in front of him, bathing in goat’s blood. And might I add, YUCK!

A Scottish female voice joins the foot, and if you have a keen ear you might hear a familiar voice along with it. The view turns so that we can see the back of the woman, nude and coated in blood up to the neck, stepping from the bath. She turns to look over her shoulder and announces her name as a ghost from the past: Geillis (Lotte Verbeek), the cat with nine lives. She comes around to stand in front of Ian and starts pouring water on herself to wash away the blood. As a young man, Ian’s both aroused by a naked woman and repulsed by the rest of the scene before him.

Hercules arrives with a tray of cakes and tea. Naturally, Ian’s hungry so it doesn’t take much prodding to get him to eat and drink from the tray. Geillis starts asking about a sapphire jewel that’s missing from the box. Ian blurts out that he thought his Uncle Jamie took it. He then claps his hand over his mouth, eyes flying wide open as he looks suspiciously at the teacup saucer holding the tea she gave him. She admits she spiked it with a witch doctor’s potion to make him tell the truth.

Geillis is surprised to find Ian’s the nephew of James Fraser, but she also knows that Jamie will come for his nephew. Let the plotting begin.

Geillis continues her seduction of the young man and reveals she uses young virgins to get their power, then discards them when she’s done. Ian informs her he’s not a virgin, to her brief surprise. She pulls him closer using her toes on his shirt. Her long, slender toes work just like fingers. I found this particularly funny because I know two people in my life with toes like that, ones that could pinch or pick up things like a hand would. But I digress… Ian and Geillis get down to business as “The Skye Boat Song” starts our episode.

(There are a great many things that are different from the book in the show, as we have seen this season. The main items do continue to move the story in the proper way, so don’t worry.)

Jamie and Claire make it to Jamaica with Fergus (Cesar Domboy) and Marsali (Lauren Lyle). They must first tend to the cargo that allowed them to journey to Jamaica on the Artemis, then the next order of business is to find Ian. They need to get things done before the Porpoise arrives with the skeleton crew, who Claire saved, and a captain determined to find and arrest Jamie. Jamie meets the contact who’s to receive the cargo and is offered an invitation to the Governor’s Ball to celebrate the new Governor of the British territory.

They get settled in and start combing the slave market to see if young Ian was among the stock of the slave traders. Claire’s naturally appalled at what she sees. She also knows there’s a time when the horrible trade of humans will be put down.

Jamie speaks with the slave traders in the hopes of finding Ian and discovers the Governor’s house had purchased the entire lot of slaves from the Bruja. It was lucky that Jamie and Claire were given an invitation to the ball after all. The search continues, but at least they have a bread crumb to follow.

Jamie turns around and is looking for Claire – of course she has wandered off – and our dear Sassenach is overcome by what she witnesses going on in the slave market. She lashes out, of course.

Claire watches as a young slave woman is branded with a hot iron. There’s one slave on the platform being auctioned, and one prospective patron looking at the poor man for breeding stock. He wants proof of the slave’s virility, so the trader is attempting to stiffen the poor slave’s resolve to demonstrate and Claire simply loses all control. She lashes out and hits the man, starting a massive fight in the market. Jamie comes to her rescue. (We know our Sassenach cannot suffer injustice like that.) Jamie does the only thing he possibly can do, he purchases the man.

Claire’s now the not-so-proud owner of a young male slave named Temeraire (Thapelo J Sebogodi). Jamie and Claire both agree he will need to be freed. They contemplate how and when to do it safely so that he won’t land back in that market or dead. Plus, Temeraire might come in handy at that.

They need to go to the Governor’s Ball, so they ask Temeraire to help them by speaking to the other slaves of the house. Jamie cannot speak to them, but another slave can do it discreetly. They explain they intend to free him when the opportunity is safe and ask if they have a bargain in discussing their need to find young Ian with the other slaves. Temeraire is shocked by the blunt knowledge they want to free him but agrees to help with the inquiries about Ian.

At Geillis’ plantation, she’s now known as the widowed Mrs. Abernathy and is hosting Archibald Campbell (Mark Hadfield) and his sister, Margaret Campbell (Alison Pargeter). This is the reason the Campbells journeyed from Scotland after Claire visited them in Edinburgh.

Geillis needs the sapphire Jamie took from the treasure box to see about a third Scottish uprising in the future she was told about by a different fortune teller. If you recall, Jamie gave the jewel to Lord Grey – or, more correctly, it was confiscated while he was in prison. Geillis is beside herself because she still has no knowledge of the stone. Archibald asks how she came to know of the treasure. Geillis became aware of the family treasure of the MacKenzie clan through Dougal MacKenzie. Margaret must hold all three sapphires to see and speak the prophecy.

The Fraser party attend the Governor’s Ball later that night. I’m sure some are liking the wig that would make the Duke of Sandringham (Simon Callow) pleased that sits atop Jamie’s head, but do not count me among them. I like the red hair, but of course I’m partial because I have dark auburn locks myself. I get he has to go incognito, so the covering of the signature red hair is prudent. But…meh!

The Governor’s Ball allows us to see some of the previous French attire trotted out for the occasion. Even Yi Tien Chow/Mr. Willoughby (Gary Young) is present and wearing one of Jamie’s French outfits as well.

Jamie and Claire reminisce about the clothes and their time at Versailles. As they walk up the entrance steps, Claire’s surprised to see Archibald Campbell. They chat briefly, then Claire and Jamie join the receiving line to see the Governor. As they’re surrounded by slave servants, Jamie asks Claire when the slave trade will end. Claire knows it will be 70 more years before Britain stops the practice, and 100 years before what will become the United States of America will no longer have slaves.

As Jamie and Claire wait in line, some women become intrigued by Yi Tien Chow standing just behind Jamie. Yi Tien Chow finds the entire encounter amusing and indulges the ladies. He then turns to see Margaret Campbell telling a slave of his imminent freedom. Margaret and Yi Tien Chow share a glance across the room and a brief smile. Yi Tien Chow is not happy with how Margaret’s brother continues to treat her.

Jamie and Claire remark about Fergus and Marsali giggling and imparting affection without being TOO obvious. Newlyweds can hardly contain themselves completely in public, and Claire remarks how she and Jamie were once that way. They joke a little but then share a deeply intimate and longing glance. Apparently, they’re not entirely away from the ‘newlywed’ behavior, ye ken.

All at once they’re close enough to see the new Governor. Enter the dashing Lord John Grey (David Berry). The shock and pleasure on his face is astonishing. Jamie’s pleased to see him too and to introduce Claire to him. Lord Grey’s exceedingly surprised and asks how she was restored to Jamie. Claire just says it’s a long story without elaborating. Understatement of the multiple centuries.

Lord John Grey leaves the line and leads the couple into a quiet room so they can talk in private. If I was Claire, I would have butterflies trying to overtake my pounding heart at that point. Across the room, Geillis sees the pair walking with the Governor.

Lord John asks Jamie if he’s well but Jamie only wants to hear of his son, Willie. In the book, this was the time Jamie was presented with the painted medallion by Lord John and eventually told Claire of the boy. As we know, the show revealed that surprise much earlier.

Jamie and John share a far too long glance and it isn’t missed by Claire. They speak briefly about the boy and eventually get around to why Jamie’s on the island at all. Jamie notices the sapphire that then Major Grey took from him mounted in a token on his hip. Lord John explains he made it into the token and he wears it as a remembrance. He takes his leave of the couple, and Jamie’s left to gather his feelings with Claire looking on.

Back out in the crowd of attendants to the Ball, Jamie and Claire mingle trying to find word of Ian. Jamie goes one way and Claire goes another.

Yi Tien Chow finds Margaret Campbell sitting quietly outside near a fountain. He explains he didn’t like how her brother treated her and calls her a flower from heaven. As she touches his hand, she says he’s a rare soul. I sense a connection here, but that is just a wild guess. They both are too cute. I always liked the Yi Tien Chow character.

Lord John Grey approaches Claire and mentions he did meet her before the rising. They joke a little about the events when he was a 16-year-old boy who attempted to kill Red Jamie. Claire mentions that Jamie had told her a great deal about all the events involving his son and Lord John’s wife’s sister as the boy’s mother. Claire changes the subject to the sapphire and Lord John explains Jamie gave it to him while he was a prisoner. Lord John mentions that it was good to finally meet the love who was Jamie’s every heartbeat. Claire smiles and looks across the room for a second to see Geillis. Lord John notices the surprise, and Claire excuses herself abruptly to follow Geillis outside.

Claire finds Geillis outside and of course the first question is how she survived the fires after the witch trial. Geillis explains that the pregnancy saved her life. They had to let her survive long enough to deliver the child. The child was an innocent and its death would constitute murder. Then Dougal came and took the child away to another family. He helped her to escape by putting an old woman who passed three days before into the cloak Geillis was to be burned in. Clair’s surprised by all of this.

Geillis reveals she eventually married a sugar plantation owner and is now Mistress Abernathy. She asks Claire why she’s in Jamaica, like she didn’t already know from Ian. Claire explains they’re looking for young Ian, and Geillis fakes support and concern.

Geillis wants to go in and find Jamie, so Claire takes her in to find him. He’s sitting with the Governor when Claire locates him. Jamie stands at her approach and is shocked to see Geillis approaching behind her.

Geillis notices the token with the sapphire and abruptly leaves to get Archibald Campbell. She tells him to do readings for the crowd and manipulates Lord John Grey into a reading. The sapphire finds itself in Margaret Campbell’s hands and she provides the prophecy Geillis wanted to hear while Jamie and Claire look on with deep suspicion.

The reading’s cryptic and Geillis runs outside with Archibald Campbell to understand what Margaret said. He tells Geillis it meant that a new Scottish king would rise when a 200-year-old baby was killed on the day of its birth. Riddle that one out, if you can.

Fergus and Marsali are outside gushing about being married when they see the entrance of British troops, led by Captain Leonard (Charlie Hiett). Jamie and Claire immediately leave and actually run into their new servant, Temeraire, while heading for the carriage. Temeraire did find Ian and explains he was taken to Mrs. Abernathy. Claire realizes Geillis was lying to her.

Jamie promises to take Temeraire to the escaped slaves he asked to be left with for his freedom. As they ride to bring Temeraire to his freedom, the British soldiers find Jamie and Claire on the road. Jamie gives Claire his children’s pictures just before he’s taken by the soldiers. Claire cusses the Captain out for taking him away after she saved all their lives. Jamie’s still taken away, Claire’s left on the road with the carriage, and we’re left with just one episode remaining in this season. The season finale awaits. Je Suis Prest!

We begin BBC America’s Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency season two episode eight with a flashback to a young Arnold Cardenas. He watches from the doorway as his parents get into a heated argument that results in the vase breaking and his mom stabbing his dad in the forehead with scissors.

It turns out there is another boy and both children watch as Marina Cardenas drives away. The younger boy’s eyes roll back in his head and he passes out. Arnold continues watching as his mom’s car begins flying into the night sky away from their home. When he returns to the kitchen, his father’s blood is on the floor but his dad’s body is missing.

Fast forward to current events and Mr. Priest (Alan Tudyk) and his Blackwing men crawl all over the Cardenas house. Mr. Priest alerts Friedkin (Dustin Milligan) of the fact there’s a portal in the upstairs bedroom, labeling it a “pocket dimension.” Friedkin isn’t even capable of pretending he understands, so Ken (Mpho Koaho) takes over the conversation.

Mr. Priest has the flying purple people eater locked up and reports there are no signs of Dirk or Todd in the house. Farah Black is also missing. Ken tells him to lock down the entire county as a convergence is likely coming soon.

Ken, who’s now cleaned up and wearing a suit, tries to explain things to Friedkin but Friedkin is about ready to explode. He doesn’t understand how seven people have just disappeared.

Farah (Jade Eshete) makes her way back to the sheriff’s station and she’s immediately shot at by Tina (Izzie Steele) who doesn’t realize it’s Farah coming through the door. Tina’s frazzled and confused as to how Suzie Boreton could have been a witch. “She shot flying guillotine shapes out of a stick,” says Tina, demanding to know how that happened. Tina also reveals the prisoners have all disappeared, the internet’s down, and the radio is just spewing government sh*t.

Tina’s not even close to calming down as she explains the scissor sword is missing and there were scary military dudes at the hospital. Farah finally gets her to breathe, but when Tina tries to leave Farah stops her. Farah believes Todd and Dirk went to Wendimoor so now they’ll have to stop Suzie on their own. She suggests they go to her home, get her wand, and arrest her.

Tina’s incredibly worried about Hobbs who’s still missing. She admits he’s her best friend and the only reason she took the job in the first place.

Meanwhile in Wendimoor, Dirk (Samuel Barnett) is being chased through the woods by his “girlfriend.” He spots a Kellum truck that’s totally out of place but keeps running. Then he spots a horse-drawn carriage and jumps in the back.

Elsewhere in Wendimoor, Todd (Elijah Wood) and Amanda (Hannah Marks) are chained up in a horse stall. Amanda’s still mad at him and Todd apologizes for Wakti being killed. Todd explains all he’s done is try and rescue her, but Amanda’s still not happy with him. Todd then reveals he has Pararibulitis. Amanda’s shocked, and Todd says he thought it meant he couldn’t give up and had to make things right with his sister. Only then could life be normal again.

Frija Dengdamor (Karin Konoval) and Wygar Oak (Aleks Paunovic) arrive and interrupt the siblings’ conversation.

Back at the Blackwing facility, Friedkin and Ken return to Ken’s taxi where he attempts to explain everything to Friedkin. Mona Wilder is Project Lamia, a variable physical non-constant. She can become anything. Ken reveals she’s most comfortable as an inanimate object. She was a chair for six years. Ken plays the tape that shows the Panic Pete squeeze toy is probably Mona Wilder.

Suzie (Amanda Walsh) is learning the ropes in Wendimoor, trying to read from the spell book and not having any luck. She wants to control Wakti’s pool (the one Amanda was using to hone her special skills) because controlling the pool will allow her to control the world. Her eyes bleed as she stabs her wand into the pool while cackling uncontrollably.

The carriage containing Dirk arrives in town and he leaps out. He pretends to be a normal guy but does a horrible job at it. He tries out different accents while helping the driver remove large, sharp blades. The driver explains the blades are meant to bring justice to two witch-a-coo-coos, a brother and sister from another world.

The driver, who’s also the executioner, sets up the blades and they form a large pair of lethal scissors.

Wygar questions Todd, asking if he works for the Trosts or The Mage. Todd tries his best to explain, saying the weapons the Trosts had are called guns and they’re from his world. Frija doesn’t believe they are from another world, and Todd goes off about how he’s having a hard time believing he’s in her world.

Amanda takes the angry energy level down a notch or two by apologizing to Frija about the loss of her son, Farson. She calls Farson a great person but adds Farson was never kidnapped. Amanda explains Farson ran away because of all the fighting and got captured by the Kellum knights. Amanda warns the Kellum knights are coming and Frija needs to make peace with the Trosts before they’re all wiped out.

Frija is having none of it and tells Amanda to stop lying. She orders the siblings to be executed. Hidden outside, Dirk overhears the order.

Farah and Tina arrive at Suzie’s house but she’s not there. Scott the frog is, but they don’t know he’s really Suzie’s son. They find Suzie’s husband, Bob, sitting in front of the TV with a videotape of Suzie telling him to remain seated. Tina discovers the TV isn’t plugged in.

Back in Wendimoor, Todd tries to take his pills but Amanda knocks them away. She explains Wakti was teaching her to “weaponize her attacks.” Maybe Todd is capable of that, too. Unfortunately, he swallowed a pill before she explained this.

Amanda demands Todd hit her, but he refuses so she hits him. She thinks if he hits her it will trigger an attack. She keeps hitting him until finally he does hit her back. It doesn’t trigger an attack of anything but giggles. They remember something funny from their childhood and then get into a slap fight.

Dirk is once again on the run from his girlfriend.

Todd explains he and Farah were on the run and that’s why he dyed his hair black. Amanda’s happy to learn he and Farah hooked up, and he admits he was really worried about her. He knows he hurt her and Amanda admits she wants her brother back. When she looks at him now, she’s not sure she knows him. He apologizes again.

Back at the Boreton place, Farah and Tina remove thumbtacks from Bob’s face. They think the magical TV has kept Bob in a trance, and then The Mage shocks them by speaking to them from the TV. Farah says they want to talk to Suzie, but he explains she’s in Wendimoor.

The TV images of The Mage and Suzie instruct Bob to kill Farah and Tina. He attacks and the women fight back. Bob gets the upper hand and is strangling Tina when Farah shoots the TV. He drops Tina and stops fighting.

Dirk’s still on the run through Wendimoor when he runs smack dab into The Rowdy 3. He screams at them to leave and then his girlfriend arrives to make things even more confusing. Dirk punches Martin (Michael Eklund) and immediately confesses he’s never hit anyone before in his life. He’s completely confused and his hand might be broken. He asks them not to hit him and then reveals Amanda and Todd have been captured and are about to be executed. The Rowdy 3 want to immediately leave to rescue Amanda and Todd, but Dirk reminds them they don’t even know where to go. He adds that there are too many people for them to take on alone, and Vogel (Osric Chau) – at Martin’s urging – asks if Dirk has a better idea. He does, of course.

The Rowdy 3 agree Dirk is now in charge.

Todd and Amanda wear dunce caps as they’re walked through a screaming crowd. Soft puffy things are thrown at them, and Todd and Amanda respond by flipping off the crowd.

Farah tries to get the location of The Mage out of Bob but he just grunts. Tina attempts to get the answer by making him grunt for a yes or stay silent for a no. Bob indicates Suzie isn’t coming back from Wendimoor and The Mage is still here on Earth. Bob reveals he knows where Hobbs is and Tina can barely control herself as she tries to get answers from him. She reminds him she’s a good friend and asks him to reach deep down to tell her where Hobbs is. Bob struggles and says Hobbs is at the quarry.

Todd and Dirk are on the stage, minutes from their execution. They’re standing on blocks with their hands in cuffs over their heads. Frija takes the stage and says everything is the Trosts’ fault. She assures her people the chaos ends today, just as The Rowdy 3 arrive in the Kellum truck.

Dirk takes off his executioner hood and Amanda and Todd couldn’t be happier to see him. The Rowdy 3 continue to beat up the crowd as Dirk frees his friends. They hug but then Silas Dengdamor (Lee Majdoub) breaks up the happy reunion by holding them at scissor point. Dirk decides now’s his time to be brave and challenges Silas to a scissor duel.

Martin’s also found a worthy foe in Wygar. Dirk and Silas fight as do Wygar and Martin, and there’s lots of tossing of bodies and scissor action. The Rowdy 3 team up to take on Wygar but he’s not an easy enemy to get the better of.

Silas and Dirk continue to fight and then suddenly Dirk is able to cut Silas’ arm. Dirk, who’s a novice at this whole fighting thing, believes that means he won. Unfortunately, Dirk’s wrong and Silas cuts his arm. Amanda rushes to him, calling out, “Dirk!” Silas had no idea he was fighting Dirk Gently!

Amanda and Todd attack Silas and then make a run for it with Dirk. Wygar sees Silas go down, which gives Dirk’s girlfriend a chance to attack Wygar. The Rowdy 3, Todd, Dirk, Amanda, and the girlfriend make it into the truck along with a kidnapped Silas.

Silas comes to and Dirk says, “As I always say, any boyfriend of Panto’s is someone I might meet in another dimension.” They get Silas to his feet and Dirk asks how long the feud between the Dengdamors and the Trosts has been going on. It turns out the answer is three generations which is the beginning of time in Wendimoor.

Todd realizes that Dirk has solved the case!

Dirk explains the whole thing, beginning with the Cardenas’, Arnold, and the baby in the boat. They raised the baby boy but he had “god-like, reality-warping powers that activated whenever he fell asleep.” His dreams would come true but in a bad way.

The weirdness in Bergsberg attracted a predecessor to Blackwing. The Cardenas’ couldn’t handle all this and didn’t know if they should sell the farm to the Kellum Corporation. Silas recognizes the name Kellum – it’s The Mage’s name.

The Rowdy 3 don’t get it but they love it.

Dirk continues, explaining Marina Cardenas sold the farm, bought a car, and accidentally killed her husband with scissors. The boy freaked out, retreated into a dream state, launched his mom into space, and put his dad in a tree.

Amanda stops all this to ask if there’s a new case going on. Dirk says the case they were working on at home is the same one they’re working in Wendimoor.

Arnold was left alone with the boy and, scared, he called the government. He turned in the boy, betraying his brother. However, the boy was so stressed by the government agents that he tried to make his fantasy real. He created Wendimoor in an instant, just from his mind.

Silas figures out that means the people of Wendimoor are just “figments of a scared child’s mind.” Dirk disagrees, saying they are real people. The boy’s dream was like a big bang – the 1967 event – and because the boy fell into a coma, Wendimoor’s been falling into chaos without its rightful ruler. The boy must be returned to Wendimoor to set everything right.

Dirk does his “Did it!” move, explaining he’s making it a thing. He’s quite pleased with himself. The Rowdy 3 believe all this because it’s nerdy bullsh*t.

Todd still doesn’t understand who Suzie Boreton is and neither does Dirk. However, Dirk does admit he hates her. But the most important thing is that Dirk knows who and where the boy is. He’s Project Moloch and he’s locked up in Blackwing. That’s where he was taken as a kid and where he remains.

Amanda remembers Wakti saying she had a friend in Blackwing. Dirk gets super excited because he knows Wakti’s friend must be Mona Wilder!

Silas asks if Dirk can fulfill the prophecy by returning the boy and saving Wendimoor, and Dirk enthusiastically says he can. But, they have to get to Blackwing to do that. Vogel shouts that Amanda can do that, and she admits she did learn how to do that just yesterday.

Dirk does a happy dance and Todd says, “Everything is connected.” The gang laugh until Suzie appears with her wand.

Tina and Farah head to the quarry to search for Hobbs. They find his car, but The Mage has beat them to it. The Mage zaps them both with his wand.
