Clouds, based on Fly a Little Higher by Laura Sobiech, will premiere on Disney+ this fall. The inspirational drama is based on the life of musician Zach Sobiech and was directed by Justin Baldoni (Five Five Apart).

Fin Argus stars as Zach Sobiech and Sabrina Carpenter (The Hate U Give) plays Sammy, Zach’s best friend and bandmate. The cast also includes Thomas Everett Scott (13 Reasons Why), Madison Iseman (Annabelle Comes Home), and Neve Campbell (House of Cards).

“I fell in love with Zach’s infectious joy and spirit seven years ago when I made a short documentary about his life. Just before he passed, I made a promise to him that I would do whatever I could to make sure the world heard his music,” explained director Baldoni. “In the age of COVID-19, with the future of the theatre business up in the air, it was extremely important to me to ensure Zach’s message of hope, faith and triumph in the face of adversity truly had the opportunity to touch as many hearts around the world as possible. That’s why I’m so excited to be partnering with Disney+ for my first film under our Wayfarer Studios banner, as it’s the perfect home and platform to bring Zach’s incredible story to the world.”

The film has already completed production, finishing up prior to the Covid-19 pandemic. Disney+ did not announce a premiere date.

“Justin has created a poignant and uplifting tribute to Zach, whose story shows us the power of optimism, music, and human connection,” said Ricky Strauss, president, Content & Marketing, Disney+. “As our team searches the world for stories that entertain and inspire, Clouds is a fantastic fit for Disney+ and our global audience.”

Clouds is the true story of Zach Sobiech, a musically gifted 17-year old living with a rare bone cancer (osteosarcoma). The film follows Zach’s journey over the course of his senior year as he navigates the complexities of love, friendship, family and leaving behind a musical legacy.

‘The Good Fight’ is Renewed for a Fifth Season

CBS All Access has renewed the award-winning drama The Good Fight for a fifth season. Season four is currently airing on Thursdays and is set to finish up the season prematurely with episode seven, due to a production shutdown caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Season four episode seven is scheduled to arrive on Thursday, May 28th.

The Good Fight remains one of the most beloved and critically acclaimed original series on CBS All Access, and we’ve seen a tremendous response from fans this season,” stated Julie McNamara, Executive Vice President and Head of Programming, CBS All Access. “While we all had hoped to provide audiences with a 10-episode fourth season, we, among many others, have had to adapt due to the pandemic. Although it’s a shortened season, the incredible cast and crew, helmed by the incomparable Robert and Michelle King, have produced a phenomenal seven episodes. We can’t wait for viewers to see the remainder of the season and are excited to bring subscribers even more of the timely, gripping storylines the Kings bring to life next in season five.”

Season four stars Christine Baranski, Cush Jumbo, Sarah Steele, Nyambi Nyambi, Michael Boatman, Zach Grenier, John Larroquette, Audra McDonald, and Delroy Lindo.

“It’s been weird to not be able to finish the fourth season,” said series creators Robert and Michelle King. “It left the story in even more absurd a place than usual. So we’re thrilled that CBS All Access wants to bring The Good Fight back for an additional season, and we know what story we’re planning to tell. It’s like getting the answers to the SAT ahead of time.”

Robert King and Michelle King are the showrunners and also executive produce along with Ridley Scott, David W. Zucker, Brooke Kennedy, Liz Glotzer, William Finkelstein, and Jonathan Tolins.

The Season 4 Plot, Courtesy of CBS All Access:

“Season four of The Good Fight finds Reddick, Boseman & Lockhart navigating a very different landscape. After they lost their biggest client, Chumhum, and their founding partner’s name was tarnished, Reddick, Boseman & Lockhart was forced to accept an offer by a huge multi-national law firm, STR Laurie, to become a small subsidiary. Suddenly, all of their decisions can be second-guessed by the giant firm that is literally on top of them. While STR Laurie initially seem like benevolent overlords, we find Diane Lockhart and her colleagues chafing at their loss of independence while simultaneously investigating the emergence of a mysterious ‘Memo 618.'”

The CW Holds Off New Season Until January 2021

The CW January 2021 Schedule

The Covid-19 pandemic is wreaking havoc with television and film productions. It’s impacted new season start dates and throwing off premiere dates for the 2020-2021 fall primetime season. The CW’s adjusted their normal fall schedule to reflect current circumstances, with the launch of new seasons of their regular schedule delayed until January 2021.

The network just announced they will fill the fourth quarter of 2020 with acquisitions including Tell Me A Story, Swamp Thing, Coroner, and Dead Pixels. The fall schedule will also include World’s Funniest Animals, Masters of Illusion, Whose Line Is It Anyway?, and Penn & Teller: Fool Us.

“This year, The CW has made the proactive strategic decision to launch its new season in January 2021, rolling out a line-up of our signature returning series which will be joined next year by our four new series, including the return of the DC’s most iconic superhero in Superman & Lois, the return of the Texas Rangers in Walker, the reimagined Kung Fu and the rebellious drama The Republic of Sarah. And by moving our new season to January, we are stocking our fall with a balance of original and acquired scripted series and alternative programming that fits The CW brand and provides fresh programming through the fourth quarter,” said Mark Pedowitz, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The CW.

“In 2021, The CW will have more original scripted programming throughout the year, week in and week out, than we have ever had, fueling our multiplatform ecosystem, which combines linear TV, our best in class AVOD services and unparalleled reach on social media. Additionally, next year, The CW will have full stacking rights to eight series to stream on our free, ad-supported digital platforms.”

Seven original shows (five returning and two new) will be held off until 2021 midseason. Supergirl, In the Dark, Roswell, New Mexico, and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow will not debut in January.

At the end of season two, Spencer (Daniel Ezra) decides to return to South Crenshaw High for his senior year with Billy Baker (Taye Diggs) by his side as the new head coach. Together, their plan is to bring home a football championship to save the school. However, in season three that may prove difficult as the high stakes of the Beverly/Crenshaw rivalry become very personal now that it’s friend versus friend, and father versus son. Furthermore, the medical mystery surrounding Spencer’s injured arm will not only significantly affect his game on the field, but also his relationships off the field too, as they all try to navigate a very complicated, secret-filled senior year at both Beverly and South Crenshaw.

.

9:00-10:00PM BLACK LIGHTNING
Jefferson Pierce (Cress Williams) is a man with many faces. He is a former Olympic athlete, respected educator and a father of two. He is also Black Lightning, superpowered protector of the fictional city of Freeland with the ability to sense and harness electricity. Jefferson is not the only one with powers and multiple faces. His oldest daughter, Anissa Pierce (Nafessa Williams), is a medical student, health clinic volunteer and dedicated social activist. She is also the superhero known as Thunder who possesses the ability to drastically increase her density, giving her invulnerability and super strength for as long as she can hold her breath.

Finally, Jefferson’s youngest daughter, Jennifer Pierce (China Anne McClain), is a fiery teen who inherited her father’s athletic gifts but not his desire to be an athlete. Jennifer also inherited superpowers. Her body generates pure electrical energy and she possesses the potential to be more powerful than Anissa or Jefferson and is known as Lightning. Lynn Stewart (Christine Adams) is Jefferson’s ex-wife but they are still very much in love in addition to sharing the load as co-parents. She’s also an expert in metahuman medicine. Together, the Pierce family faces the challenges of a declined urban community, including a war between a menacing gang that calls itself The 100, and a criminal cartel backed by the Pierce family’s nemesis, the infamous gangster, Tobias Whale (Marvin “Krondon” Jones III). Fortunately, the family has allies in their fight, Jefferson’s surrogate father and a former covert superspy, Peter Gambi (James Remar).

TUESDAY

8:00-9:00PM THE FLASH
Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) lived a normal life as a perpetually tardy C.S.I. in the Central City Police Department. Barry’s life changed forever when the S.T.A.R. Labs Particle Accelerator exploded, creating a dark-matter lightning storm that struck Barry, bestowing him with superspeed and making him the fastest man alive – The Flash. After a thrilling cliffhanger last season which saw the new Mirror Master (Efrat Dor) victorious and still-at-large in Central City, The Flash must regroup in order to stop her and find a way to make contact with his missing wife, Iris West-Allen (Candice Patton).

With help from the rest of Team Flash, which includes superheroes Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker), Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes), Ralph Dibny (Hartley Sawyer), and Nash Wells (Tom Cavanagh), as well as the Flash’s adoptive father Joe West (Jesse L. Martin), Meta-Attorney Cecile Horton (Danielle Nicolet), tough cub reporter Allegra Garcia (Kayla Compton) and brilliant tech-nerd Chester P. Runk (Brandon McKnight)… Flash will ultimately defeat Mirror Master. But in doing so, he’ll also unleash an even more powerful and devastating threat on Central City: one that threatens to tear his team – and his marriage – apart.

9:00-10:00PM SUPERMAN & LOIS
In SUPERMAN & LOIS, after years of facing megalomaniacal supervillains, monsters wreaking havoc on Metropolis, and alien invaders intent on wiping out the human race, the world’s most famous superhero, The Man of Steel aka Clark Kent (Tyler Hoechlin, “Teen Wolf”) and comic books’ most famous journalist, Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch, “Grimm”), come face to face with one of their greatest challenges ever – dealing with all the stress, pressures and complexities that come with being working parents in today’s society.

Complicating the already daunting job of raising two boys, Clark and Lois must also concern themselves with whether or not their sons Jonathan (Jordan Elsass, “Little Fires Everywhere”) and Jordan (Alexander Garfin, “The Peanuts Movie”) could inherit their father’s Kryptonian superpowers as they grow older. Returning to Smallville to handle some Kent family business, Clark and Lois are reacquainted with Lana Lang (Emmanuelle Chriqui), a local loan officer who also happens to be Clark’s first love, and her Fire Chief husband Kyle Cushing (Erik Valdez). The adults aren’t the only ones rediscovering old friendships in Smallville as the Kent sons are reacquainted with Lana and Kyle’s rebellious daughter, Sarah (Inde Navarrette).

Of course, there’s never a dull moment in the life of a superhero, especially with Lois’ father, General Samuel Lane (Dylan Walsh) looking for Superman to vanquish a villain or save the day at a moment’s notice. Meanwhile, Superman and Lois’ return to idyllic Smallville is set to be upended when a mysterious stranger (Wolé Parks) enters their lives.

WEDNESDAY

8:00-9:00PM RIVERDALE
The fourth season of RIVERDALE began with a funeral and tribute to Archie’s late father, the beloved Fred Andrews (Luke Perry). Throughout the season, Archie (KJ Apa) tried to live up to his father’s memory by mentoring youths at his Community Center with the help of his pals Reggie (Charles Melton) and Munroe Moore. But the shadow of that tragedy loomed over Archie – and only darkened when Fred’s brother Frank arrived, bringing unforeseen complications with him, much to the chagrin of Archie’s mother (Molly Ringwald).

Meanwhile, after Betty (Lili Reinhart) saved her mom (Mädchen Amick) and sister from the Farm cult, she joined her brother Charles’s Junior F.B.I. Training Program. Veronica (Camila Mendes) found herself locked in a season-long battle with her father Hiram (Mark Consuelos) and half-sister Hermosa over her burgeoning maple rum business. And, at the urging on FP (Skeet Ulrich), Jughead (Cole Sprouse) enrolled in a new school, Stonewall Prep, only to be caught up in a mystery that involved his grandfather, the secret author of a series of teen detective novels called “The Baxter Brothers.” His classmates turned out to be killers – and it was up to Betty and Jughead (pretending to be dead) to solve the murder of… Jughead Jones!

At Thistlehouse, Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) was trapped in a gothic nightmare, fighting her demons, literal and metaphoric, with the loving support of her girlfriend Toni (Vanessa Morgan). She finally put her brother Jason to rest while maintaining her control over the Vixens as resident HBIC against Principal Honey (Kerr Smith). Kevin (Casey Cott) got dragged into an illicit tickle scheme, but still found time to put on a Variety Show with hit songs from “Hedwig and the Angry Inch.” And throughout the season, disturbing unmarked videotapes kept appearing on our characters’ doorsteps, ensuring that there would be one more mystery to solve.

Season five of RIVERDALE will begin with our characters’ final days as students at Riverdale High. From an epic Senior Prom to a bittersweet Graduation, there are a lot of emotional moments and goodbyes yet to come – with some couples breaking up, as everyone goes their separate ways to college – or elsewhere. Then, we will redock with our gang as young adults, all returning to Riverdale to escape their troubled pasts. And life – and romance – will only be more complicated now that they’re in their twenties…

9:00-10:00PM NANCY DREW
Season two of NANCY DREW follows the legendary teen detective as she solves mysteries – both earthbound and supernatural – in her haunted hometown of Horseshoe Bay, Maine. Nancy (Kennedy McMann) leads a sleuthing team of unlikely friends: George Fan (Leah Lewis), whose clairvoyant heritage will emerge through her encounters with the paranormal; Bess Marvin (Maddison Jaizani), a con artist and heiress with multiple lady admirers; Ned “Nick” Nickerson (Tunji Kasim), Nancy’s ex and George’s boyfriend, a gifted mechanic with a tragic past; and philosophical slacker Ace (Alex Saxon), whose computer-hacking skills have caused secret troubles that will soon be exposed.

In season one, the Drew Crew helped Nancy discover the stunning truth that Lucy Sable, the ghost who’d been haunting her all season, was her biological mother, and her biological father was corrupt billionaire Ryan Hudson (Riley Smith). Season two is a direct pickup from season one, so it will span the autumn of 2019, during Nancy’s gap year before college. Ryan will attempt to redeem himself through forging a father-daughter bond with Nancy while keeping her parentage a secret from the rest of his powerful family.

Nancy will also find a way forward with her adoptive father Carson Drew (Scott Wolf) by becoming an investigator for his legal practice. Her adventures will bring the Drew Crew standalone cases, new romances, and emotional journeys of self-reinvention as Nancy tries to navigate with both her biological parent and the man who raised her – but the compounding intrigue and menace of the Hudson family will ultimately force her to make a life-altering choice between her two fathers.

THURSDAY

8:00-9:00PM WALKER
WALKER, a reimagining of the long-running series “Walker, Texas Ranger,” stars Jared Padalecki as Cordell Walker, a widower and father of two with his own moral code, who returns home to Austin after being undercover for two years, only to discover there’s harder work to be done at home. He’ll attempt to reconnect with his creative and thoughtful son (Kale Culley) and his headstrong, somewhat rebellious teenaged daughter (Violet Brinson) and navigate clashes with his family – an ADA brother (Keegan Allen) who stepped in during Walker’s absence, his perceptive mother (Molly Hagen) and his traditional rancher father (Mitch Pileggi).

Walker’s former colleague is now his Ranger Captain, (Coby Bell). Walker finds unexpected common ground with his new partner (one of the first women in Texas Rangers’ history) played by Lindsey Morgan, while growing increasingly suspicious about the circumstances surrounding his wife’s death.

9:00-10:00PM LEGACIES
Set in The Salvatore Boarding School for the Young & Gifted, and within “The Vampire Diaries” universe, LEGACIES tells the ongoing story of a new generation of supernatural students as they learn what it means to be special in a world that wouldn’t understand their gifts. In season two, Hope Mikaelson (Danielle Rose Russell) returned to a world that had forgotten she ever existed and reunited with her former Headmaster, Alaric Saltzman (Matthew Davis). Working together, Hope and Dr. Saltzman ultimately rejoined The Salvatore School to lead their Super Squad of powerful vampires, witches and werewolves, including Lizzie & Josie Saltzman (Jenny Boyd & Kaylee Bryant), MG (Quincy Fouse), Rafael (Peyton Alex Smith) and Kaleb (Chris Lee) and even a Phoenix, her true love Landon (Aria Shahghasemi), into battle against a dizzying horde of fantastic and deadly monsters birthed from the Malivore Pit … and their old nemesis, The Necromancer, who was determined to resurrect Malivore.

As season three begins, Hope has risked everything to pull her friends back from the brink of a monstrous prophecy that threatened to doom them all. But when a heartbreaking loss shatters her whole world, Hope Mikaelson will be forced to fight fate itself.

‘Ozark’ Season 2 Episode 7 Recap: “One Way Out”

Ozark Season 2 Episode 7
Laura Linney and Jason Bateman in ‘Ozark’ season 2 episode 7 (Photo by Jessica Miglio/Netflix)

Marty (Jason Bateman) and his family are giving an interview – more so Wendy (Laura Linney) than Marty as Marty seems to be in another place mentally – as Netflix’s Ozark season two episode seven begins.

Meanwhile, Ruth (Julia Garner) seems to want to appease her father and they go on a theft spree which is short-lived. Ruth and Cade (Trevor Long) are selling chopped boat parts when the guy they’re selling to reveals he’s looking for an expensive item.

Marty and Wendy argue over their future with Blue Cat, with Wendy suggesting they avoid it and Marty wanting to talk to Rachel again. Wendy informs Charlotte (Sofia Hublitz) she’s no longer allowed to work there.

Next we see Rachel (Jordana Spiro) and Marty talking via text – even though they’re standing next to each other – so Agent Roy Petty (Jason Butler Harner) doesn’t hear while listening in. She asks Marty for help and reveals Petty threatened to out her to the cartel. Marty answers by stating he doesn’t think he can. After pleading with him to try again, she begins to kiss him. Marty pulls back and texts her that he’s sorry but he doesn’t want his family killed.

Wendy’s in her van getting ready to leave the house when a sack is suddenly placed over her head.

Marty meets with the public relations person to go over the plan of how they’ll make their family look better in the public’s eyes. She asks where Wendy is and we quickly learn the answer to that question. Wendy’s being dragged through a field and transferred to another vehicle.

After Marty tries to call her, he tracks her cellphone and he finds it in her abandoned van in the middle of a field.

Wendy is tied up to a chair in a basement. Cut to Marty confronting Darlene Snell (Lisa Emery) who he seems to think has something to do with Wendy disappearing. After being threatened, Darlene insists she doesn’t have Wendy.

After the black sack’s ripped from her head, the first thing Wendy sees is Pastor Mason Young (Michael Mosley). She tries to tell him this isn’t who he is while he continues to scream at her. He has a gun pointed at Wendy while he rants about not having a son. Wendy pleads with him to let her know what he’s talking about. Mason seems to think she knows what’s going on and that it’s her fault. He angrily tells her that she told him not to go to the police and she had his son taken away. Again, Wendy has no clue what he’s talking about. However, she believes she can help him get his son back. That seems to capture his attention.

Mason calls Marty demanding the return of his son. Mason warns him not to tell anyone – not the cops and not the cartel – or Wendy dies. Marty demands to talk to Wendy to hear that she’s okay. Wendy assures Marty she’s fine and to call Wilkes because he can help. (Even though Mason just told Marty not to tell anyone, but hey.) Marty warns her there’s no way he can get the baby today.

The phone call gets cut off.

Ruth’s still shaken by the waterboarding and is unable to take a shower. While wiping down, Cade comes banging on her door. He thinks he should take Wyatt with him to steal the boat parts. Ruth questions why and he lets her know she hasn’t been right since that night with the cartel. Getting angry, she tells him, “Just worry about yourself, I’m f*ckin’ fine.”

With that, she slams the trailer door in his face.

Marty goes to see Charles Wilkes (Darren Goldstein) but at first Charles won’t let Marty get a word in. He doesn’t seem to be a fan of Marty’s. Charles lets Marty know his entire board doesn’t think he should continue with the casino because of what’s going on with Marty and the FBI.

Before Wilkes can go on with his “let me tell you all the reasons why I don’t like you, Marty Byrde” tirade, Marty finally cuts him off by revealing Wendy has been kidnapped. That seems to get Wilkes’ attention for a moment, but then he starts naming off all the people he could contact. Marty informs him he can’t do that, but what he can do is get him a baby from Child Services. Wilkes thinks that’s insane.

Mason begins to confide in Wendy, claiming he’s not a monster. She agrees; she believes he is lost but it’s only natural since he has been lied to so many times. Mason begins to walk away when Wendy confesses his wife was one of the bodies that was found on the Snells’ property. She confirms Grace was murdered and they helped cover it up.

Wendy tries to convince Mason he can change things around and not end up on the path they’re on. She offers to help with anything he needs – food, clothes, or to move. Before he can answer, she informs him she needs to use the restroom. After leaving the basement Wendy realizes she’s at Mason’s house.

Wilkes and Marty attempt to get Mason’s baby back, but before entering Child Services Wilkes makes it abundantly clear he’s only doing this for Wendy. He’s not done with the insults yet. Wilkes adds that after this is finished their relationship ceases to exist.

When Wendy comes back from the bathroom, she notices Mason has put his gun down and is more relaxed while looking at a picture of Grace.

Wilkes lets the social services worker know Pastor Mason is a real good friend of the Byrde family, and they would like to take the baby into their care to make sure he’s with people close to the family. The social services rep informs Marty he can have the baby in 10 days, but Marty makes it clear he wants the baby today.

Trying to pull at the man’s heartstrings, Marty says, “Mason Young has lost a tremendous amount in three months. He’s had his church burned to the ground, his wife has abandoned him, and now his son Ezekiel, without any warning, without any explanation.” Marty the ever-so-smooth talker seems to be getting to him.

Wendy offers to make Mason some tea and Mason confesses he thinks he killed Grace by not listening to her. Wendy assures him what happened was not his fault and he has a little boy out there who needs him. When the tea kettle goes off, Mason goes to get it and Wendy hits him over the head. It does little damage and he’s able to catch her when she tries to run.

Back in the basement, Mason is taping her up when Marty calls informing him he has baby Zeke. Mason screams, “Bring him here!” Marty asks where is here and Mason confirms he’s at home. Funny, Marty didn’t think to check Mason’s house.

Wendy’s trying to talk to Mason, claiming she grabbed onto God and hung on for dear life, but God did not grab back. She explains she had a horrible childhood and she went to her pastor to seek help and forgiveness; she confessed so much to him. She thought her pastor said all the right things, but she knew by the way he looked at her he would never see her the same way again. Mason starts preaching to her that she told the pastor everything on purpose as an excuse to leave.

Mason brings up the time at the convenience store when it was being robbed. He had no job or family, but he believed God would protect him. He keeps preaching to her about walking towards God.

Elsewhere, Cade’s trying to steal an awfully expensive part off a boat when the owner starts walking toward the docks with a shotgun. Cade’s forced to get in the water to avoid being caught.

Marty shows up with Zeke but refuses to give Mason the baby until he knows Wendy’s okay. She begins to yell that she’s okay so Marty hands over the baby. Marty’s freeing Wendy of her bindings when Mason questions Marty about what he’s going to do to him. Marty’s confused and reminds him they had an agreement and therefore he will not do anything.

Mason starts acting erratically, screaming that he doesn’t believe them. His yelling begins to upset the baby and Zeke starts crying. He turns his anger on the baby and yells, “Will you shut up?!” The baby begins to cry harder. Mason questions what Marty did to the baby to make him cry. Mason seems to be losing it, insisting Marty did something to his child.

Marty is done with this drama and begins to name off everything he’s done to try to help Mason including paying the Snells $700,000. Marty is poking a bear by turning the tables and putting the blame on Mason. Mason states he’s going to take Wendy. He believes Marty’s corrupting her and he’s going to take Wendy to save her. He points the gun at her and demands she walk toward him.

Suddenly, Wendy stabs him with a screwdriver. Even after being stabbed, Mason grabs the screwdriver and holds it to Wendy’s throat. Marty picks up the gun that’s fallen and aims it at Mason while pleading with him to let Wendy go. Marty shoots and hits Mason in the neck. After Mason goes down, Marty panics and tries to stop the bleeding.

Ruth’s in the truck crying and cold, begging her dad to forgive her. She didn’t know the boat’s owner would be home so soon and she promises she’s not a screw-up. Ruth assures her dad she’ll make it up to him. She will make him proud.

Cade tells her in a monotone that it’s okay – there will be other boats. After calming down, she informs her dad she thinks she knows where Marty’s hiding the money. It seems making her dad proud outweighs what the cartel has done to her – and what they will do to her. Before he can answer, she explains that a little while ago she saw Wendy driving the hearse up to one of the cabins at the Blue Cat. She now thinks they were keeping it at the Blue Cat and moved it to the funeral home. Cade replies, “Let’s go get it then.”

Wendy gets to work cleaning up the mess while Marty’s still in shock and crying. He asks what they’re going to do and Wendy tells him they’re going to get rid of the body and take Zeke. Marty begins to have a panic attack and thinks he’s having a heart attack. Wendy talks him through breathing. She lets him know she will take care of this, just like he took care of her before.

Episode seven comes to a close with the scene returning to the Byrdes doing the interview. Marty seemingly comes to his senses and begins to get involved with the interview. However, his involvement is short-lived and once again Wendy takes over and begins to answer with all the right responses. We continue to hear Wendy answering while we see them cremating Mason’s body and then Marty sprinkling his ashes into the water. The scene switches back to the Bydres and Wendy brings up that they’re fostering a friend’s son for a bit as Charlotte brings out Zeke.

‘The Flash’ Season 6 Episode 19 Recap and Review: “Success is Assured” Finale

The CW’s The Flash ended its sixth season early with episode 19 which saw Team Flash finally go up against Mirror Master Eva and revealed the exit (at least temporarily) of two members of Team Flash.

Season six episode 19, “Success is Assured,” begins with Eva (Efrat Dor) and Mirror Singh (Patrick Sabongui) planning to get rid of her husband. Eva’s now showing off a new outfit that looks very comic bookish.

Over at Caitlin’s apartment, Cecile (Danielle Nicolet), Allegra (Kayla Compton), and Nash (Tom Cavanagh) are helping Frost (Danielle Panabaker) pack for her trip north with her mother to find a cure for her serious wound. Allegra and Nash both tell Frost they’ll miss her and she admits to still being a little nervous to be meeting with Caitlin’s mother, Carla (Susan Walters).

And speaking of Carla, she arrives and after learning Killer Frost is just Frost now, she says she wants to run a few tests before they go.

At Barry’s CCPD CSI lab, Barry (Grant Gustin) tells Ralph (Hartley Sawyer), Cecile and Allegra he thinks if they can find one of the locations of the Black Hole hit squad, it will lead them to Eva. Ralph shows them the diamond Sue (Natalie Dreyfuss) gave him and Allegra uses her powers to reveal a map to one of Black Hole’s warehouses. Barry says he and Ralph will check it out, leaving Allegra and Nash back at S.T.A.R. Labs.

At the warehouse The Flash and Elongated Man find five security guards murdered and Mirror Singh spreading gasoline all over, ready to set the entire place on fire. The Flash tries to talk him out of it, attempting to connect with any part of him that might be connected to the real Singh. It doesn’t work. The Flash speeds Elongated Man and himself out (with one of Ralph’s feet catching fire).

Barry informs the team back at base they now need to protect Carver.

The next day Barry meets Carver (Eric Nenninger) at Jitters and warns him that his wife is gunning for him and that he can protect him. Carver shows Barry a video of Iris (Candice Patton) being sucked into the mirror dimension and tells him the human mind cannot survive in there, insisting both Eva and Iris are dead; what remains is not them. He walks off, assuring Barry he can handle his own protection.

In the mirror dimension, Iris’ mind is starting to acclimate to this prison and she begins to be able to read what’s on the computer screens and maps, although she still suffers extreme headaches while doing it. Kamilla (Victoria Park) warns her to stop, believing it’s too dangerous. But Iris continues, sure she can find the location of the real Singh.

Meanwhile, Ralph meets with Sue’s parents to deliver good news. When the warehouse went up, the records Carver was using to blackmail them were destroyed. But before he can say it, Sue appears and acts as though they’ve never met before. She thanks him for searching for her and tells a quick fake story about being at a retreat. As her parents try to pay Ralph, he excuses himself and asks for Sue to help search for a pen to sign the check.

Once alone in the hallway, Ralph fills Sue in about the records being destroyed. She explains Carver had a change of heart and called off the blackmail. Sue also tells Ralph to leave her and her family alone.

Using her mirror meta abilities, Eva kidnaps Black Hole assassins Sunshine (Natalie Sharp), Dr. Light (Malese Jow), and Ultraviolet (Alexa Barajas). When Carver enters the apartment where they were staying and discovers them missing – and sees there’s a hole in a mirror – he realizes he’s in real danger.

Back at Caitlin’s apartment, Frost and Carla have a heart-to-heart and Frost admits feeling like a third wheel and being seen as some kind of monster by Caitlin’s mom. Carla assures her she’s not a monster and has protected Caitlin more than she ever did. Carla fears she has made many mistakes in her life, but Frost says she’s a brilliant scientist and an awesome human being.

Carver finds Barry and asks him to get him into witness protection.

Back at the CCPD, Barry and Carver are waiting for the FBI to show up when Mirror Singh walks out of the elevator and tells Carver he will personally escort him. Singh says he needs a minute to talk to Barry and pulls Barry aside.

Mirror Singh offers Barry a deal: if he lets him have Carver, Eva will let Iris out of the mirror dimension. Singh goes on about how Barry’s protecting the wrong man and that Eva’s not his enemy. Nash, who is a few feet away, overhears the conversation and can see Barry hesitating and considering the deal. Nash uses a smoke bomb as a distraction and teleports Barry, Carver, Allegra, Ralph, and himself to S.T.A.R. Labs.

Almost immediately Carver wants to buy the tech Nash just used and Ralph tells him to shut up. Team Flash shows Carver footage of the mirror duplicates and informs him Singh is one. Carver says the safest place is in his panic room at McCulloch Tech and that he can bring down a whole force field around the building.

As Team Flash escorts him there, Nash pulls Barry aside and confesses he knows Barry was considering Mirror Singh’s deal. He says he saw Harry Wells who told him the Barry he knew would never accept that deal. Barry tells Nash he has to get Iris back, but Nash counters asking how she would feel if Barry traded a person’s life for her.

At McCulloch Tech, Ralph, Nash, and Allegra evacuate the building with the help of a few security guards while Barry escorts Carver to his panic room. Ralph sees Sue in the crowd of people and walks over to talk to her. It’s then he notices she’s wearing a Black Hole pin. He realizes she joined the Black Hole to actually get close enough to kill Carver. Ralph tries to talk her out of it, reminding her she’s a good person and he believes in her. (This was very reminiscent of season three when Barry tried to stop Caitlin from becoming Killer Frost, only not as powerful).

Sue knocks Ralph out with knock-out gas and gets on an elevator to find Carver.

Once everyone except Team Flash and the security guards are out of the building, Carver activates the force field around the building. It’s only on for a few seconds before it fails. Sunshine, Ultraviolet, and Dr. Light show up – now working for Eva – and take on Team Flash and the security guards.

Barry leaves Carver to go check on the force field and is met by Mirror Singh. Again Barry tries to talk him down saying he can resist her, but Singh only smiles and shatters. He’s replaced by Eva, wearing her snazzy new mirror battle armor suit. She blasts Barry with a ray and walks off in search of Carver.

In the building’s main lobby, the fight is now on. It’s shot and shown in multiple split-screens to cover all the action. (That actually was more distracting and chaotic than helpful.) Allegra’s saved from Ultraviolet by Nash. Sue returns to back up Ralph as the security guards are being taken down quickly by Sunshine.

In the panic room Eva uses the monitor screen Carver is watching the fighting on to enter and face him. He tells her he only did what he had to and that she isn’t his wife. She responds that she’s doing what she needs to and shatters the screen. She uses her powers to control the glass shards and sends them flying at Carver.

The Flash speeds in and gets in front of Carver, taking the hit instead. (WHAT! This is an incredibly dumb move when he could have just sped Carver out of the room.) Still standing but with the shards sticking in him, Barry’s efforts turn out to be in vain because Eva forces one of the shards through him and right into Carver’s heart. As Carver dies his last words are that Eva is not his wife, that his wife is dead.

The Flash is lying on the floor wounded when Eva uses her powers and pulls out the shards. She tells Sunshine, Dr. Light, and Ultraviolet to stand down; Carver is dead. Eva then offers The Flash a truce saying he and his friends are not her enemy. He refuses, warning he’ll find a way to stop her. She sighs and says he and his friends are trespassing on her property. She demands they leave before she calls the police.

The next day Eva holds a press conference, claiming she was being held prisoner by an international crime syndicate and that it was her husband who died rescuing her. She will now take over the role of CEO of McCulloch Tech.

Ralph finds Sue getting ready to go back home to her parents’ house. He tells her she can’t and shows her that Eva has framed her for Carver’s murder.

That night Barry visits Caitlin and explains what happened. She knows he’ll find a way to stop Eva and bring Iris home. Barry confesses how helpless and overwhelmed he feels losing his speed and Iris. Caitlin replies, “Maybe instead of focusing on what you’ve lost, you should try remembering what you’ll never lose. The reason you beat Zoom, Godspeed, Thawne is because speed isn’t what drives you…it’s love. That’s your true force and there is nothing artificial about that. So as long as you stay true to yourself, you will always find a way to beat the bad guys…and gals.”

Barry half-smiles and tells Caitlin he’s going to miss her. They hug. Carla comes in and promises she’ll have both Caitlin and Frost back to him and the team as soon as possible. Barry asks if Frost can hear him and Frost tells Caitlin she can. Barry tells both of them to get better and hurry back because they have a white water rafting trip to take. Caitlin says Frost can’t wait and starts to leave. She stops at the door and turns, asking Barry to tell the team she already misses them. He says he will and she turns and walks out the door in slow-motion with a look of real worry on her face. Barry stands in her apartment with a look of loss and concern on his.

Over at Barry’s CSI office, Nash and Allegra are getting on better since he saved her from Ultraviolet. Barry shows up to talk about saving Iris and Kamilla from the mirror dimension. Cecile arrives with Joe (Jesse L. Martin) and after everyone hugs him and welcomes him back, Joe declares, “Let’s go save some people we love!”

In the mirror dimension, Iris has been staring at the monitors and finally sees what could be the location of the real Singh in the mirror dimension at the CC Hospital. Iris then begins to see Kamilla in multiple glass realities. Iris screams in pain, bends over, and then glows like a crystal before vanishing into the air.

The episode ends with “To Be Continued.”

The Flash Season 6 Episode 19 Review:

Jam-packed with action, drama, and a few surprises, episode 19 sees the villain – Mirror Master Eva – defeat what was left of Team Flash, with Frost, Cisco, and Joe all missing from the big fight. It also ended with the disappearance or full acclamation of Iris into the mirror dimension. As a season finale, it’s weaker than most but that’s because this was not the planned ending for the season. It’s just the last episode completed before The Flash had to shut down production due to Covid-19.

Still, it’s a solid episode with strong performances by Grant Gustin, Danielle Panabaker, Tom Cavanagh, and Efrat Dor who really shined as she finally rose up as the new Mirror Master and completed her mission to escape the dimension and kill her husband.

Review of The Flash Season 6:

Season six was different than the other seasons of the series because for the first time the showrunner and writers split the season in two parts, having two main villains instead of one. Episodes 1-8 focused on Bloodwork, played wonderfully by Sendhil Ramamurthy. Episodes 10-19 focused at first on Carver but eventually revealed Eva to be the main villain.

Part one of season six is the stronger of the two for many reasons. The main difference is the dynamic performance of Ramamurthy as an old friend of Caitlin’s whose fear of death turns him into a mad scientist and a monster for Team Flash to stop. The episodes had almost a horror movie feel to them. The first half also benefitted from the “Crisis” story arc which gave a secondary, emotional storyline for the cast to deal with in facing the foretold death of Barry Allen.

Part two was a bit slower and at times sluggish, with the feel of a crime mystery involving finding out who was behind the Black Hole organization and revealing him. However as it continued and Iris spent most of the story stuck in the mirror dimension and Eva was revealed as the new Mirror Master, the action and suspense seemed to dissipate.

Sweet Tooth is the broad appeal, family-friendly, storybook adventure of Gus — part deer, part boy — who leaves his home in the forest to find the outside world ravaged by a cataclysmic event.
