4400 DETAILS: Over the last century at least, four thousand four hundred people who were overlooked, undervalued, or otherwise marginalized vanished without a trace off the face of the planet. Last night, inexplicably, they were all returned in an instant to Detroit, MI, having not aged a day and with no memory of what happened to them. As the government races to understand the phenomenon, analyze the potential threat, and contain the story, an empathetic social worker (Joseph David-Jones) and hardened community corrections officer (Ireon Roach) are among the civil servants called upon to deal with the uncanny refugees.

The new partners clash in ideology and approach, but gradually find they have more in common than they thought as they become familiar with those under their care, including: a lawyer and resilient young mother from the early aughts (Brittany Adebumola), whose unexpected reunion with her estranged husband (Cory Jeacoma) and suddenly teenaged daughter is immediately rocky; a WWI Army surgeon fresh from the Harlem Renaissance (TL Thompson); an influential hidden figure from the Mississippi civil rights movement (Jaye Ladymore); a black sheep reverend-scion born to a notable televangelist family in 1990s Chicago (Derrick A. King); a seemingly shallow but misunderstood D-list reality TV star (newcomer Khailah Johnson) from Miami, circa 2015; and two wildly different unaccompanied teens, a vibrant girl (newcomer Autumn Best) whose bell-bottoms give away her 1970s upbringing, and an introspective, prescient boy (Amarr Wooten) whose origin remains a mystery.

These unwilling time travelers, collectively the 4400, must grapple with their impossible new reality, the fact that they’ve been returned with a few…upgrades, and the increasing likelihood that they were brought back now for a reason they’re only beginning to understand.

Legends of the Hidden Temple

LEGENDS OF THE HIDDEN TEMPLE DESCRIPTION: This supersized, adult version of Legends of the Hidden Temple is taken out of the studio into a “jungle” and scaled up with tougher challenges and much bigger prizes on the line. It preserves the original Nickelodeon series’ favorite elements including: “Olmec” (the giant talking Mayan head), the “Moat Crossings,” “The Steps of Knowledge,” the “Temple Run,” and of course, the iconic team names: “Purple Parrots,” “Blue Barracudas,” “Orange Iguanas,” “Red Jaguars,” “Silver Snakes” and “Green Monkeys.”

Every episode is a hero’s journey through a mysterious jungle. Five teams begin the journey, but only one is “strong enough and smart enough” to enter the ominous Olmec’s Temple, avoid the “dreaded” Temple Guards, retrieve a lost treasure, and return it to its rightful owner.

Killer Camp

KILLER CAMP SYNOPSIS: The new U.S. version of Killer Camp will return to “Camp Pleasant” as a mix of 13 unlucky American and British campers navigate through new deadly twists and surprises while competing to expose the “killer” among them for a share of the $50,000 cash prize. Each night, one of them will be viciously dispatched by camp handyman Bruce, who’s back with counselor Bobby (comedian Bobby Mair), and a whole host of surprises and hilariously elaborate new murders.

Fans may never find out the how, what, and why of what happened aboard Flight 828 as NBC has decided to cancel Manifest after three seasons. Season three left off with major storylines dangling and no solid answers as to the whereabouts of the flight during the years it was off the radar.

Series creator Jeff Rake took to Twitter to express his disappointment over the cancellation.

“My dear Manifesters,

I’m devastated by NBC’s decision to cancel us. That we’ve been shut down in the middle is a gut punch to say the least. Hoping to find a new home. You the fans deserve an ending to your story. Thanks for the love shown to me, cast, and crew. #savemanifest”

Rake followed that tweet up a few hours later with one expressing gratitude over the series’ three-season run.

“Okay. Moving to gratitude:

For NBC, good people making hard decisions. Thank you for 3 seasons.

For WB, my partners and champions.

For cast, writers, and crew. We did this together. In a pandemic.

And of course for you, old fans and new.

Keep the faith.”

Series star Josh Dallas retweeted Rake’s initial tweet and included the #savemanifest hashtag. Melissa Roxburgh and Parveen Kaur also promoted the #savemanifest campaign in tweets.

“Hi beautiful manifesters. Seeing the support behind #savemanifest has got me all emotional. Thank you for watching and loving this show. Always your area” – tweeted Ellen Tamaki.

And series newcomer Holly Taylor tweeted: “wow #SaveManifest trending worldwide.. unreal. ik i’m new but you’ve all made me feel so welcome this season. thank you for loving & supporting this show. hoping our talented cast & crew can finish telling this story some how Blue heartAirplane #Manifest”

Social media #Save campaigns have been successful in the past, with series including Lucifer and Brooklyn Nine-Nine benefiting from the work of their passionate fans online. There’s even a “Help Us #SaveManifest” petition gathering support for a fourth season on Change.org.

Manifest writer Eric Haywood brilliantly summed up the current situation in a tweet.

‘American Gigolo’ Starring Jon Bernthal Gets a Series Order at Showtime

Showtime’s moving forward on American Gigolo starring Jon Bernthal, giving the drama a series order. American Gigolo has Emmy nominee David Hollander (Ray Donovan) on board as writer, director, and showrunner, with Jerry Bruckheimer (producer of the original film) executive producing.

“If you haven’t already fallen under the spell of Jon Bernthal, get ready,” teased Gary Levine, President of Entertainment, Showtime Networks Inc. “Jon absolutely owns the screen with his searing, brooding, and vulnerable performance in this contemporary version of American Gigolo. Writer/director David Hollander brilliantly reimagines the seductive original film, confronting the mystery, the exhilaration, and the danger of our deepest desires.”

The idea of creating a series based on the popular 1980 sexy drama starring Richard Gere has been kicking around for years before finally finding a home at Showtime. This new take on the story will be set in the present day and has Gretchen Mol (Boardwalk Empire) as Michelle, Julian’s one true love; Rosie O’Donnell (SMILF) as homicide Detective Sunday; Lizzie Brocheré (Falling Water) as sex work ring heiress Isabelle; Gabriel LaBelle (Dead Shack) as a younger version of Julian named Johnny; and Leland Orser (Ray Donovan) as Richard Stratton, a self-made tech billionaire. Wayne Brady will guest star in season one as Julian’s best friend/mentor, Lorenzo.

In addition to leading the cast, Jon Bernthal will serve as a producer. Jonathan Littman and KristieAnne Reed are involved as executive producers.

The series is a Paramount Television Studios production.

Jon Bernthal’s recent credits include Those Who Wish Me Dead, Ford v Ferrari, The Peanut Butter Falcon, and a two-season run starring in the titular role in The Punisher series.

The Plot:

American Gigolo is a present-day reimagining of the iconic 1980 film. Bernthal will play Julian Kaye, who is introduced 15 years after he’s been arrested for murder and struggling to find his footing in the modern-day Los Angeles sex industry, while seeking the truth about the setup that sent him to prison all those years ago and also hoping to reconnect with Michelle.

Freeform’s addictive coming of age drama Cruel Summer has officially been renewed for a second season. The announcement came hours before the season one finale is set to air.

The renewal comes as no surprise given the series’ ratings and the fact it tops the list of “most engaged new scripted cable series on social” for the year, according to Freeform. It also ranks as Freeform’s most watched series and hit the #1 spot among women ages 18-34 in new cable dramas. Season one is averaging an impressive 6.8 million viewers each episode.

Cruel Summer was created by Bert V. Royal who executive produces along with showrunner Tia Napolitano as well as Iron Ocean Productions’ Jessica Biel and Michelle Purple.

“Renewing Cruel Summer for a season two was an easy decision,” stated Freeform President Tara Duncan. “It’s the biggest series debut in Freeform’s history, and the audience response has been overwhelmingly positive. Jessica, Michelle and Tia did a phenomenal job telling an addictive story that’s tapped into the cultural zeitgeist. I’m excited to see where they take the series next.”

“We are so proud of this show and the incredible cast and crew who brought so much hard work and grit to every single scene. This wouldn’t have been possible without them and our mastermind showrunner, Tia Napolitano. To be picked up for a second season is a dream, and we have so many ideas for where we can take this next. We are excited to get to work with our brilliant team of creatives on this project, in addition to our partners at Freeform and eOne, including Jackie Sacerio, who brought the project to us. To the audiences who have been tuning into this show week in and week out, THANK YOU!!! This is all for you!” said executive producers Jessica Biel and Michelle Purple.

The cast of season one includes Olivia Holt, Chiara Aurelia, Michael Landes, Froy Gutierrez, Harley Quinn Smith, Allius Barnes, Blake Lee, and Brooklyn Sudano.

“Collaborating with Iron Ocean, our dedicated crew, charismatic cast, and our partners at Freeform and eOne have been the best first showrunning experience I could ask for. I am beyond grateful and excited by the amazing fan response to our show! Continuing to bottle Cruel Summer magic for a season two is an absolute dream come true,” added Tia Napolitano.

Season one wraps up with episode 10, “Hostile Witness,” airing on June 15, 2021 at 10pm ET/PT. The finale finds Kate and Jeanette’s worlds colliding “as the court date arrives, finally forcing the two young women to answer the question on everyone’s mind, but the answer comes with a price that not everyone can pay.”

The only hope for survival is for soldiers and civilians from the present to be transported to the future and join the fight. Among those recruited is high school teacher and family man Dan Forester (Pratt).

Determined to save the world for his young daughter, Dan teams up with a brilliant scientist (Strahovski) and his estranged father (Simmons) in a desperate quest to rewrite the fate of the planet.

Now, 15 years later, Sam has followed in her mother’s footsteps and grown into a fierce hit-woman. She uses her “talents” to clean up The Firm’s most dangerous messes. She’s as efficient as she is loyal.

But when a high-risk job goes wrong, Sam must choose between serving The Firm and protecting the life of an innocent 8-year-old girl – Emily (Coleman). With a target on her back, Sam has only one chance to survive: Reunite with her mother and her lethal associates, The Librarians (Yeoh, Bassett, and Gugino).

These three generations of women must now learn to trust each other, stand up to The Firm and their army of henchmen, and raise hell against those who could take everything from them.

Josh Gad will reprise his role as LeFou (“Louie”) and Luke Evans is confirmed to return as Gaston in Disney+’s Beauty and the Beast limited musical series. The series will be a prequel to the live-action film that was released in 2017 and starred Gad, Evans, and Emma Watson as Belle.

Briana Middleton (The Tender Bar) will play Louie’s stepsister, Tilly, in the limited series.

The eight-episode musical series has Gad and Once Upon a Time‘s Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz on board as co-showrunners, writers, and executive producers. Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Award winner Alan Menkin is set to compose the limited series’ original soundtrack and Oscar nominee Glenn Slater (Tangled) is writing the lyrics for episode one. Tony Award nominee Liesel Tommy (Eclipsed, Respect) is directing the first episode. Menkin and Tommy are also executive producing.

“For anyone who’s ever wondered how a brute like Gaston and a goof like LeFou could have ever become friends and partners, or how a mystical enchantress came to cast that fateful spell on the prince-turned-beast, this series will finally provide those answers…and provoke a whole new set of questions,” stated Gary Marsh, president and chief creative officer, Disney Branded Television.

“There are few more precious gems in the Disney library than this iconic franchise, and this prequel is both a love letter to what’s come before and its own spectacular adventure,” said Jonnie Davis, president, ABC Signature. “Josh, Eddy, and Adam’s vision gives us a window into the origin of Luke’s Gaston and Josh’s LeFou with the twist of a new partner in crime—Tilly, played by the luminous Briana Middleton. This dream team would not be complete without the genius Alan Menken returning to write even more glorious music for the franchise he helped create. We’re so grateful to Gary, Ayo, Michael and everyone at Disney Branded Television and Disney+ for their unwavering support. We cannot wait to start shooting.”

Filming is expected to get underway in spring 2022.

“For three decades, this tale as old as time has inspired generations of fans around the world,” stated Michael Paull, president, Disney+ and ESPN+. “We can’t wait to welcome our guests back to the magical and musical world of Beauty and the Beast for an all new chapter with LeFou, Gaston, and a fantastic new cast of characters.”

Disney+ released the following description of the limited musical series:

“Set in the iconic kingdom of Beauty and the Beast years before the Beast and Belle’s epic romance, the series will follow Gaston and LeFou as they set off with LeFou’s step-sister, Tilly, after a surprising revelation from her past comes to light, sending the unlikely trio off on an unexpected journey filled with romance, comedy, and adventure. While the mysteries of the past are uncovered and the dangers of the present grow, old friends and new enemies reveal that this familiar kingdom harbors many secrets.”

The House Animated Series
Netflix announces ‘The House’ voice cast

Netflix has announced the voice cast for their first stop-motion animation anthology, The House. Matthew Goode (A Discovery of Witches) and Helen Bonham Carter (The Queen) have entered The House along with Mark Heap, Miranda Richardson, Will Sharpe, and Paul Kaye.

Claudie Blakley, Mia Goth, Josh McGuire, Stephanie Cole, Yvonne Lombard, and Sven Wollter are also confirmed to star in the adult animated anthology. In addition, musicians Jarvis Cocker and Dizzee Rascale will be lending their voices to The House.

The House is divided into three chapters, with the first chapter directed by Emma de Swaef and Marc James Roels. Niki Lindroth von Bahr directs chapter two and Paloma Baeza helms the third chapter. Nexus Studios (This Way Up, Back to The Moon) produces the anthology.

The House is a collection of cinematic stories that are intelligent, witty, inquisitive, warm and yet packed with offbeat humour. For this project, Nexus are bringing together, for the very first time, three of the most unique and multi-awarded voices in independent stop motion animation today in Niki, Marc & Emma and Paloma. This production is an organic collaboration between brilliant and like-minded storytellers. We’re thrilled to have found in Netflix such a perfect home for The House,” said Charlotte Bavasso, Co-Founder and Producer, Nexus Studios in January 2020 when Netflix originally announced the anthology.

The anthology, described as an “eccentric dark comedy,” focuses on a house and involves “three surreal tales of the individuals who made it their home.”
