The How I Met Your Mother sequel – How I Met Your Father – has been given a straight-to-series order from Hulu. The Hulu Originals comedy series will star Hilary Duff (Younger) and has How I Met Your Mother creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas on board as executive producers.

Season one will consist of 10 episodes and will be shot using the same techniques as HIMYM, shooting both multi-camera and single-camera. The sequel comes from executive producers Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger (This Is Us, Love, Victor), and is a 20th Television production.

How I Met Your Mother continues to be one of the most innovative and beloved comedies on television,” stated Craig Erwich, president, Hulu Originals and ABC Entertainment. “Isaac and Elizabeth have an inspired take on this new version that honors what Carter and Craig created with the original and moves the franchise forward. Isaac and Elizabeth have proven to be rich storytellers and great partners to us at Hulu Originals and across The Walt Disney Company family. Coupled with the passion and infectious energy Hilary brings to every role she takes on, we can’t wait to suit up and bring audiences How I Met Your Father.”

“Kids, I’m going to tell you an incredible story: It’s the story of how two writers got lucky enough to make their dream TV show for nine seasons and now get to pass the torch to an inspired new creative team with their own incredible story to tell, the story of How I Met Your Father,” stated original series creators Bays and Thomas. “We are honored by their passion and vision and look forward to helping them tell a legendary new story. (Thanks to all the HIMYM fans out there who waited for it.)”

Hilary Duff will star as Sophie and will also serve as a producer.

“I’ve been incredibly lucky in my career to play some wonderful characters, and I’m looking forward to taking on the role of Sophie,” said Duff. “As a huge fan of How I Met Your Mother, I’m honored and even a little nervous that Carter and Craig would trust me with the sequel of their baby. Isaac and Elizabeth are brilliant, and I can’t wait to work alongside them and all of their genius. Just fangirling over here getting to join the Hulu Originals and 20th families. I realize these are big shoes to fill, and I’m excited to slip my 6 ½’s in there!”

“We are beyond excited to be bringing How I Met Your Father to Hulu. Carter and Craig’s iconic original series revolutionized the half-hour comedy, and we are so honored to be carrying the torch forward for the next generation – and with Hilary Duff no less! We can’t wait for audiences to meet Sophie and her crew, and watch them come into their own and find love in modern-day New York City. And we hope nobody thinks it’s weird that Bob Saget will be playing old Hilary Duff’s voice,” said the sequel’s creators/writers Aptaker and Berger.

In the near future, Sophie (Duff) is telling her son the story of how she met his father: a story that catapults us back to the year 2021 where Sophie and her close-knit group of friends are in the midst of figuring out who they are, what they want out of life, and how to fall in love in the age of dating apps and limitless options.

‘Legends of Tomorrow’ Season 6 Preview: Plot, Cast, Photos, Trailer, and Premiere Date

The CW’s Legends of Tomorrow returns to the network’s primetime lineup on May 2, 2021 with season six episode one. “Ground Control to Sara Lance” was directed by Kevin Mock from a script James Eagan and Mark Bruner.

Season six’s cast is led by Caity Lotz as Sara Lance/White Canary and includes Dominic Purcell as Mick Rory/Heat Wave, Nick Zano as Dr. Nate Heyood/Steel, Tala Ashe as Zari Tarazi, Jes Macallan as Ava Sharpe, and Matt Ryan as John Constantine. Adam Tsekhman plays Gary Green, Olivia Swann is Astra Logue, Shayan Sobhian is Behrad Tarazi, and Lisseth Chavez is Esperanza “Spooner” Cruz.

“Ground Control to Sara Lance” Plot: A MISSING CAPTAIN – After a night of celebrating their beating the Fates, the Legends quickly discover that Sara (Lotz) is missing. Trying to keep it together, the Legends are shocked to discover that she was taken by Aliens. Ava (Macallan) sends Rory (Purcell) and Behrad (Sobhian) to follow a lead on who can possibly help them find Sara, while Constantine (Ryan) tries to work his magic.

Meanwhile, Sara does all she can to try to escape, which includes releasing Aliens into the timeline, but is shocked to learn who one of her kidnappers turns out to be.

The Season Six Description, Courtesy of The CW:

Having spent last season trying to track down the Loom of Fate in order to bring back their slain comrades and save the world from mind control, the Legends must now save history from a foe like none they’ve encountered in the past or future. Co-captains of the time-ship Waverider Sara Lance and Ava Sharpe have dealt with monsters, time anomalies, and most recently, villains from Hell, but this season they will face something even more challenging and bizarre … space aliens!

After one of their own is abducted by a ruthless alien, this new mission becomes personal. Fighting against aliens in the timeline while also working to bring back their missing teammate, it will take more than the combined powers of a dark magician, John Constantine; a semi-reformed arsonist and Waverider O.G., Mick Rory; a historian who transforms into steel, Nate Heywood; a fresh out of Hell Astra Logue; and a brother-sister air-totem-wielding duo, Zara Tarazi and Behrad Tarazi to save the world (and beyond) for a sixth time.

They must recruit a new Legend, a gun-totin’ Texan named Spooner who was abducted by aliens when she was a child and imbued with powers that will help the team defeat their intergalactic foes. Either that or she’s just crazy.

Conceived six years ago, Michel Franco’s near-future dystopia feels ripped from headlines that haven’t yet been written. While protests rage in the streets, Marianne’s high society family prepares for her wedding. At first, only splatters of green paint andthe appearance of Rolando, a former employee seeking emergency medical funds, intrude on the festivities. But soon the party is unable to keep the reckoning at bay, and what follows is a swift disintegration of law and order defined first by class lines, then by disastrous government recapitulation.

‘Mayans M.C.’ Season 3 Episode 7 Recap: “What Comes of Handlin’ Snakeskin”

Mayans MC Season 3 Episode 7

FX’s Mayans M.C. season three episode six ended with Angel shooting Flaco and then texting EZ alerting him Santo Padre’s going to war with Stockton. Episode seven, “What Comes of Handlin’ Snakeskin,” dives right into the newly declared war, with Angel (Clayton Cardenas) and Gilly (Vincent Vargas) attacking a Stockton guy and demanding the whereabouts of Stockton’s president, Ramos.

Bishop (Michael Irby), Creeper (Joseph Raymond Lucero), and Hank (Frankie Loyal) are the next to launch an attack, pounding on two guys and destroying a tattoo parlor Stockton runs.

EZ (JD Pardo) makes it into town, arriving at Myra’s Motor Inn which is apparently Santo Padre’s makeshift Stockton hideout. (EZ dropped Gaby at her family’s place in Lodi before joining the club.) He claims he’s feeling good and Gilly fills him on Angel “going yard” on someone’s head.

Gilly walks away to take a call and Angel realizes his little bro just had sex. The smile on EZ’s face is a dead giveaway. “I bet it was so romantic,” teases Angel. “I bet there were birds chirping and all kinds of sh*t.” (Treasure these lighter moments – this episode’s going to get really dark fairly quickly.)

More club members arrive and Bishop and Taza (Raoul Max Trujillo) welcome EZ back. Gilly informs Bishop that Tucson’s Lobo just called and said there’s no movement at Ramos’ house. Bishop tells Gilly to call Tucson in so they can regroup. At this point it should be obvious to Stockton that Santo Padre’s coming for them.

While the club gets some rest, Hank yells at Steve the prospect (Momo Rodriguez) for trying to follow them into the hotel. He needs to stay outside and guard the van. But first, Hank demands Steve lose weight immediately by doing burpees.

EZ witnessed the exchange and checks on Steve, advising him not to give up. EZ gets philosophical and says, “Being a prospect is about destroying the ego, learning to exist for the greater good of the group.”

Steve explains being part of the club is all he wants. He’s always been just a punchline and he’s done laughing along. Steve’s in a much better place mentally when EZ walks away.

Meanwhile, Coco (Richard Cabral) returns home and his daughter, Leticia (Emily Tosta), gives him a hug before punching him in the chest. She’s pissed he disappeared and when he asks for something for the pain – he’s obviously in sorry shape – she searches for something to give him. By the time she locates expired Excedrin, he’s passed out on the couch. She gently covers him with a blanket.

Coco eventually awakens to find Leticia sitting on the couch with him. She hands him Mountain Dew and explains that’s all they have. Leticia wants her dad to get clean but Coco claims he’s not on drugs. He looks like he’s dying as he lies and says he’s good. Coco’s ruthless as he tells her he didn’t ask for her help or for her at all.

Leticia calls him out, tells him she hopes he dies, and takes off.

Adelita (Carla Baratta) is also giving comfort to someone in dire need. She embraces Mini while Mini reveals what she’s been through. Apparently, Adelita’s right-hand man, Pablo, made the young girls prostitute themselves. Mini finally ran, realizing there was no reason to stay without Adelita to protect her.

After listening to Mini, Adelita shows up at the group’s new warehouse. She spots a pregnant girl and then shakes her head in warning as Pablo (Salvador Chacon) says they’ve missed her and were worried. Mini joins Adelita and Pablo claims whatever Mini told her is a lie. People were abandoning the cause and he needed to do whatever it took to keep the rebellion going.

Adelita listens but doesn’t say anything until Pablo’s done offering excuses. She caresses his face as she stabs him in the stomach. Pablo falls against her and she stabs him again.

Adelita’s back in charge.

EZ’s hanging out outside when the Oakland chapter rolls up. Bishop, Taza, and Hank quickly back EZ up as Oakland’s President, Diaz, suggests Santo Padre go home. They don’t, and instead they have a sit-down inside the hotel. Diaz points out EZ looks better than Flaco and Chepe, and Angel points out Chepe’s kids won’t have to grow up knowing their dad was a piece of sh*t.

Diaz asks Bishop how many dead Mayans it will take to end this. Bishop says just one – Ramos.

Diaz reveals Ramos asked for his backing but he wants to hear Bishop’s side. He recalls the club’s history and how Marcus used to put Bishop up on his bike when his feet were too short to reach the pegs.

Bishop doesn’t have the time nor the patience for this walk down memory lane, claiming he’s always done what’s best for the club. Santo Padre didn’t fire the first shot, but they will not back down. Diaz doesn’t agree and believes Santo Padre did start it by killing the Vatos Malditos. That destroyed the gun deal and Diaz thinks the VM murders were done to keep Santo Padre as the gatekeeper. (The Galindo cartel’s drugs remain their main source of income.)

Bishop lays his cards on the table. He tells Diaz the three kings leadership isn’t working and he wants the club to stop being dependent on Galindo’s drugs. Asked if he’s really willing to go against his cousin, Bishop reminds them Marcus Alvarez is no longer a Mayan.

Bishop asks Diaz to join him and help reclaim who the Mayans really are…”motherf*cking outlaws.”

Diaz wants to know about Stockton and Bishop remains firm in the need for payback after Ramos put a target on EZ. “I want to bring this M.C. back to its glory. But first, there’s got to be a reckoning,” says Bishop.

Diaz takes this all in and then advises his VP to call Stockton and tell them he needs a face-to-face with Ramos. He informs Bishop that Oakland will stick around and then they’ll all ride out together once Ramos’ location is confirmed.

“We’ll see about that reckoning,” says Diaz.

Hours later the Oakland chapter’s getting high and hanging out, while the Santo Padre crew are getting antsy. When Bishop tells Diaz everything’s packed and ready to go, Diaz claims they’re still waiting for Ramos’ exact location.

Outside, Creeper’s in charge of loading the weapons into the van. Steve reminds the club his record’s clean so he can carry a gun while they’re on the road.

EZ checks in with Gaby (Sulem Calderon) during the downtime and she asks if he’s been changing his dressing. He says he has but she giggles, admitting she doesn’t believe him.

Angel and the guys watch EZ on the phone and Gilly notes EZ only knows two people outside the club. Since EZ’s smiling, he must be talking to Gaby.

After he hangs up, Angel checks in to make sure his brother’s head is in the game.

EZ’s claim that he’s ready is challenged as the Stockton club shows up out of nowhere. Oakland played Santo Padre and Bishop for fools.

Before Stockton guys even exit their van, the Oakland guys begin throwing punches. A bunch of Stockton dudes jump Steve and ruthlessly beat him.

Ramos (Ivo Nandi) announces his presence and EZ’s on his way to grab him when he’s attacked. Although he’s still recovering from being shot, EZ proves he’s a badass by delivering more brutal punches than he receives.

Inside the hotel, Diaz and a few of his men get into it with Taza and Bishop.

More Stockton members arrive and Santo Padre’s outnumbered. Fortunately, they have the Reyes brothers on their side.

Angel, Gilly, and a few others who weren’t outside and are unaware of what’s going on are ambushed walking through the hotel. At one point three guys are beating on Angel with their fists and a baseball bat at the same time, yet he’s able to remain in the fight as are Hank, Gilly, and other Santo Padre club members.

Ramos is among the group beating on Steve who’s down on the ground and hasn’t managed to stand since the attack began.

Taza whips out a blade and stabs two of the Oakland guys and then rips another off Bishop’s back. Bishop has Diaz pinned on the floor and uses his forehead to bash in Diaz’s face.

Everyone’s still engaged in the fight as sirens are heard drawing closer. Steve begs for his life as half a dozen guys continue to kick him. A gunshot’s heard and one of Steve’s attackers goes down hard, hitting his head on a cement parking block. If the bullet didn’t kill him, the hard landing did.

EZ’s still beating someone up as Bishop and Taza try to round their guys up to escape before the cops arrive.

Hank checks on Steve who’s in shock and wondering if the man he shot will be okay. Creeper looks around for Pavia, doesn’t see him, and opts to remain behind so Pavia isn’t the only Santo Padre member locked up with a bunch of Stockton and Oakland guys.

The Santo Padre guys get away, driving away from the cops and trouble before finally stopping to figure out their next step. They realize Creeper and Pavia are basically sitting ducks and that Ramos will be posting bail soon. Hank believes the word will spread quickly to other charters and they’ll have to choose sides.

Taza thinks after tonight’s attack more charters will side with Stockton than Santo Padre.

Bishop has no idea what to do next, but EZ says he knows their next move.

Back at the hotel, tons of cops have the bikers who couldn’t escape in handcuffs and kneeling in the parking lot. Creeper asks for a hospital for Pavia and the cops only tell him to shut up. Ramos assures Creeper he and Pavia will soon need a morgue.

Crooked Stockton PD Detective O’Grady arrives and casually pulls Ramos from the lineup, offering the briefest of explanations to the officers present that Ramos needs to be brought in for questioning. As he walks away, one of the Stockton guys brags to Creeper that they own this town.

O’Grady keeps up a running monologue about a song on the radio, recalling his time in a band when he was younger. Ramos is tired of being in his presence and tells O’Grady to pull over and cut him loose. Ramos also orders O’Grady to go back and let his guys out, and O’Grady says he will.

O’Grady pulls over but doesn’t get out. Instead, he continues commenting on the song that’s playing. Ramos is still seated in the car when EZ comes out of nowhere and shoots him in the head.

O’Grady’s pissed EZ shot him in the car instead of pulling him out and then killing him. EZ pumps two more rounds into Ramos as O’Grady says, “Dude, you can’t make someone more dead.”

EZ instructs O’Grady to keep Creeper and Pavia separate and make sure they’re released by tomorrow morning. When O’Grady doesn’t instantly respond yes, EZ aims his gun at the cop forcing him to agree.

As EZ’s walking away, O’Grady wants to know if his debt’s now been paid. He asks if he’s free and EZ replies, “Are any of us?”

O’Grady labels that response existential biker bullsh*t.

In Mexico, Adelita shaves the heads of her young followers as they pledge her their allegiance.

EZ attempts to put the fight and murder of Ramos out of his head as much as possible while seated at the dinner table with Gaby’s family. He’s late but Gaby saved him a plate and the family remains at the table as he enjoys dinner. EZ wipes his face after a bite and there’s blood on the napkin, ripping this peaceful moment out from under him.

Fortunately, no one else seems to notice.

While all this is going down, Coco’s still at home when Hope shows up. She’s upset he left without saying anything and Coco’s more interested in the drugs Hope brought than actually being reunited with his new girlfriend. Hope points this out and Coco claims he wants to see her but he’s hurting and needs relief.

A short while later they’re passed out after getting high when Leticia returns. Leticia immediately attempts to rouse Coco but pounding on his chest and screaming his name don’t elicit any response.

‘Big Sky’ Season 1 Episode 12 Recap: “No Better Than Dogs”

Big Sky episode 12
Kylie Bunbury and Katheryn Winnick in ‘Big Sky’ season 1 episode 12 (ABC/Darko Sikman)

Jenny Hoyt (Katheryn Winnick) fell into a pit of dead cows at the end of ABC’s Big Sky season one episode 11, and episode 12 begins with Jenny still in that pit confronting Blake’s brother, Rand Kleinsasser (Ryan Dorsey). She caught him cooking meth in a trailer on his family’s ranch, and it’s because of Rand that Jenny fell into this disgusting pit.

Jenny demands Rand put down the ax he’s casually carrying, firing a shot at his feet when he refuses. He finally puts it down as she attempts to crawl out. Unfortunately, the pit’s so slippery she falls back into it, dragging Rand with her. John Wayne (Kyle Schmid) picks that moment to show up and he sends his brother away, allowing Jenny to try and make her way to solid ground once again.

Jenny claims Rand attacked her but J.W. points out she’s trespassing again. She explains she’s just there to visit the caretaker’s cabin in order to check on Blake’s story. Surprisingly, J.W. offers to show it to her.

J.W. claims he didn’t see Rosie or Blake that night and has no idea where Rosie is now.

They arrive at the caretaker’s house and Jenny heads in alone. She looks around and pulls a gun when she hears a noise. J.W. followed her in, even though he claimed he was going to wait outside, and points out where they found Rosie. Jenny sees the mattress is covered in blood. She looks under the bed and finds a nearly full bottle of alcohol.

Just as she’s pulling it out, J.W. takes off in his truck leaving her to walk back to her car in the pitch-black night.

Meanwhile, Cassie (Kylie Bunbury) is able to call her office and leave the phone on while handcuffed in the backseat of Deputy Al Gregor’s (Paul Piaskowski) squad car. She describes where she is and how they got there as another car approaches. Gregor demands she shut up as the other car flashes its headlights.

Cassie continues to narrate what’s happening as Gregor opens the back door. She makes a run for it but is knocked out before she gets very far.

Jerrie (Jesse James Keitel) has U.S. Marshall Mark Lindor (Omar Metwally) listen to the recording Cassie left on their answering machine. Jerrie confirms Cassie’s not answering her phone and is sure she wanted them to hear what was happening.

As Cassie’s being dragged through the dirt, her phone falls off to the side and her abductors realize she was recording what was happening.

Jerrie takes the stage at a karaoke bar and is getting into her song when she begins scanning the crowd. She spots Ronald (Brian Geraghty) lurking in the audience and flees the stage. As she’s about to leave the bar, Jerrie tells her friend she saw Ronald.

Morning arrives and Jenny’s heading home from the Kleinsasser ranch when she spots Cassie’s truck burned to a crisp on the side of the road. She looks inside and then runs back to her own vehicle.

Blake (Michael Raymond-James) joins his sister, Cheyenne (Britt Robertson), in the barn and is happy to note she’s speaking to him. (He’s on the outs with the rest of his family.) She’s still angry he left but admits she doesn’t think he attacked Rosie. Cheyenne claims she’s not like the rest of their family and confesses she still loves him.

Blake suggests she should leave town before it’s too late. If she doesn’t take off soon, she’ll never escape.

Cheyenne fills her oldest brother in on Rand and J.W.’s plans for the ranch’s mineral rights. She also reveals their brothers were with Rosie the night Blake was accused of beating her. Cheyenne recalls the next day they “made a big show” about locating her.

Before she can say much more, J.W. arrives and interrupts their chat. Cheyenne breaks the tension by giving J.W. a hug as he informs them dad wants to see them now.

Mark shows up at the station to speak with Lochsa County Sheriff Wagy (Sebastian Roché), introducing himself to the clerk as a U.S. Marshall.

Cassie comes to in a cell and overhears Sheriff Wagy asking Deputy Gregor why he brought her back to the station. Wagy calls Gregor an amateur.

Mark gets his meeting with Sheriff Wagy who acts as if he’s calm, cool, and collected. Wagy claims Cassie was drunk and resisted arrest. Mark demands they let her go and Wagy wonders if Mark’s about to “fedsplain” the law to him. Mark, who doesn’t need to act to be calm, cool, and collected, tells Wagy he should answer the phone (which isn’t ringing). However, within seconds it does and it’s obvious Mark called in some heavy-duty backup.

The governor tells Sheriff Wagy to do what Mark says.

Over at the ranch, the Kleinsasser family sits down for an uncomfortable meal together. Horst demands coffee as he tells Blake he always has a place in the family. Cheyenne and J.W. get into a punching match, and Horst makes her apologize to her brother.

Margaret (Michelle Forbes) listens to this with her back turned to the table and adds a little spit to Horst’s coffee before serving it to her husband. (Margaret’s my favorite Kleinsasser.)

Margaret smiles as Horst compliments her coffee but criticizes her skill at cooking bacon. He orders Margaret to take a seat and then announces John Wayne will take over the ranch since Blake violated the ranch’s moral turpitude covenant.

Blake claims not to want the ranch as Horst informs them the lawyer’s drawing up his new will. J.W. promises not to let Horst down, but Horst doesn’t believe that.

Blake leaves the table without permission.

Big Sky episode 12
Michael Raymond-James and Ted Levine in ‘Big Sky’ season 1 episode 12 (ABC/Darko Sikman)

Later, he and his dad ride the fence line while discussing funeral plans. Blake swears he didn’t attack Rosie but Horst’s sure he’s lying. Horst claims to not know why Blake left in the first place, and Blake brings up Cole Danvers’ name, causing Horst to bristle. Horst reminds Blake he was supposed to forget about that and that he only did “it” to protect Rand.

Blake confesses he thinks about what his dad made him do every single day. Blake knows Rand’s not right in the head and believes Horst knows that too.

Mark drives Cassie home and makes small talk about Hall & Oates. Cassie manages to smile for the first time since being picked up by Deputy Gregor, and Mark explains he has news on Ronald when she’s ready to hear it. She indicates she’s ready and Mark reveals they caught Ronald sleeping on his mother’s grave. He adds that he left Ronald a note and that he’s put in for round-the-clock surveillance, but it will take a while to get that in place.

Mark promises they’ll get Ronald because he has urges he can’t control. He also reassures Cassie he’ll help her any way he can. She asks if he can try and help them find Rosie, and Mark says he’ll get his techs on it.

Mark drops her at the hotel and Jenny’s already there. She tells Cassie she’s there for her if she wants to talk about what happened. She doesn’t.

Jenny shows Cassie the nearly full bottle of whiskey she found under the bed in the caretaker’s cavern. Jenny’s going to get it tested since Blake felt like something was off that night and can normally hold his liquor.

Elsewhere, Ronald’s girlfriend, Scarlet, finds the note Mark wrote – the one in which he acted like he was Ronald’s dead mom – in Ronald’s jean’s pocket while doing laundry. Ronald’s playing dolls with her daughter when Scarlet joins them, kissing one of the dolls and reciting the contents of the note.

The smile immediately fades from Ronald’s face.

Later, the new couple gets into an argument over Willy Wonka and Ronald’s not sure why Scarlet’s angry at him. She pulls out the note along with the taser. If he lies, she’ll zap him. (Scarlet is nearly as crazy as Ronald, but hopefully not as homicidal.)

His first lie is about a musical. He earns a zap. His second lie is about a woman with red hair. Once again, he’s zapped. He then claims he found the note and thought it was sad. It might have meant something to somebody so he kept it. Ronald believes he was meant to find the note and that it could actually be about them.

“I think this note found me just like I found you,” says Ronald.

Scarlet confesses she’s falling in love.

Jenny meets with Blake and tells him Cassie was abducted. Plus, Rand chased her with an ax last night. Blake’s confused, unaware any of this took place. Jenny’s convinced nothing makes sense about the night Rosie was attacked, and Blake tells her she needs to walk away from this investigation before she gets hurt.

Jenny doesn’t want to quit but Blake claims this is his problem to fix.

Over at the Kleinsasser ranch, Cheyenne’s only able to convince her mom to engage in an important conversation if she supplies her with pills. She asks why her mom allows Horst to treat her so horribly and why she’s not saying anything about J.W. getting the ranch when Horst dies.

Margaret tells Cheyenne she needs to leave; there’s nothing for her there. (That echoes Blake’s sentiment.) Cheyenne refuses and reveals she’s seen the trucks in the back pasture. Margaret attempts to shut her down, reminding her she needs to know her place. Cheyenne’s done with everything and attempts to pour all her mom’s pills down the sink. That finally elicits a passionate reaction from Margaret and Cheyenne cheers her on.

Blake’s forced into a meeting with his dad, J.W., and Rand. When Horst threatens to harm Jenny, Blake warns him he’ll tell the town what’s really going on at the ranch.

After Blake leaves, Horst instructs J.W. to follow him to make sure he cools down. J.W. offers to take a ride to cool off but Blake turns him down and takes off in an off-road vehicle.

That night, Jenny and Cassie show up uninvited at Rosie’s secluded cabin in the woods. Rosie gets the drop on them outside and holds both at gunpoint. She demands to know what they’re doing there.

Their answer must have satisfied Rosie because the next scene is the threesome inside the cabin seated in front of the fire. Rosie understands the town doesn’t like Jenny and Cassie snooping around, and she’s aware everyone’s looking for her. She thinks Blake’s family is bad news and admits the night she was attacked doesn’t make any sense.

Rosie believes she was drugged and doesn’t remember that night. All she knows is she was injured and that she had been having fun with Blake before she passed out. They were drinking as they looked for an old saddle of her father’s, a saddle they never found.

Rosie’s known Blake for years and she doesn’t think hitting her is something he’d ever do. She confesses she’s been having flashes of Rand. She’s sure Rand was there that night.

It’s pitch black when we catch up with Blake as he digs a deep hole and screams when he can’t find what he’s looking for.

A little later he finds a belt buckle belonging to Cole Danvers and Cole’s body. J.W. joins him and Blake explains Cole was just a kid who showed up looking for work. J.W. recalls Cole stole a truck and left, but Blake says that’s not what happened. Blake explains their dad woke him up and showed him Cole’s dead body. Blake claims Rand killed Cole and even confessed to doing so after Blake found a bloody shirt in his room.

Blake says Rand got mad and threw a shovel at Cole, killing him. He believes Cole’s family deserves to know what happened, but J.W. thinks they should cover the body up again and not mention this. Blake doesn’t want to and tries to stop J.W. from throwing dirt back in the hole, knowing full well they need to come clean about what Rand did.

Little do the brothers know their sister is lurking in the shadows, listening to this conversation. She watches and nearly screams when she sees J.W. hit Blake with the shovel and Blake fall into Cole’s grave.

Jessica (Bellamy Young) points out everything Malcolm paints has an exit wound and only then does he realize he’s painted a bloody pear.

Obviously, art therapy isn’t working.

Mom and son discuss the book she’s supposed to be working on, and it turns out Jessica doesn’t actually remember much of what took place all those years ago. Malcolm suggests there might be transcripts of her statements to the police and maybe Gil can help.

Jessica thinks Gil’s too busy given that he’s working on a new murder case. Malcolm’s shocked when he sees the news report of Gil on the scene, flabbergasted he didn’t call him in.

Malcolm rushes over to the warehouse and Gil (Lou Diamond Phillips) points out he’s supposed to be on a break after Nat, the woman he tried to save during their last investigation, died. Of course, Malcolm doesn’t give up and Gil eventually gives in.

Malcolm asks Gil if he can get The Surgeon’s police files for his mom, and Gil’s speechless. Gil’s normally a pushover when it comes to the Whitly family, but in this particular instance, he doesn’t even know how to respond to Malcolm’s request.

Edrisa (Keiko Agena), JT (Frank Harts), and Dani (Aurora Perrineau) are already with the murder victim, parts of which are hanging like meat alongside slabs of beef. The head and torso haven’t been found, but the parts that are available indicate he’s a male in his 50s.

Edrisa believes the victim was conscious when he was sliced up by a chainsaw. Malcolm thinks that, because of the particular parts that are absent, the murderer was expressing power and control. Gil notes it wasn’t a spur-of-the-moment murder, and Malcolm smiles as he reveals they’re probably dealing with a budding homicidal psychopath.

Gil and Dani have a private chat and Gil admits he’s worried Nat’s death is eating away at Malcolm. Dani isn’t as concerned but promises to speak with Malcolm.

Malcolm interrupts to announce they’ve found a torso. Unfortunately, the head’s still missing.

The torso’s wearing an intact shirt and Malcolm surmises the killer dressed him after he was dismembered. The shirt is likely covering something up, noting this is part of the murderer’s theatrics.

Edrisa opens the shirt and the dead man’s chest has a rectangular box carved into it with “The Vulture” written inside. Edrisa confesses this is the name she’s given the killer.

It turns out Edrisa’s been investigating this unknown person. The killer posted three videos online involving the killing of birds…all filmed in the same place and all untraceable. Edrisa’s even created her own murder board dedicated to The Vulture, and she reveals she’s part of a large web sleuthing group called the Killabustas looking into the bird butcher.

Malcolm’s actually impressed and reminds them web sleuths have helped catch hundreds of killers, including the Golden State Killer. Unfortunately, Edrisa steps in it when she explains web sleuths are dedicated to cracking cases the police don’t have the brains to solve.

Edrisa explains the birds are all native to Arizona so they reported The Vulture to that state’s police.

Over at Claremont, Martin (Michael Sheen) attempts to talk to Dr. Vivian Capshaw (Catherine Zeta-Jones) but she shuts him down. He practically begs for a chance to discuss their kiss, and Vivian believes that was a mistake. “I never should have. It was a colossal lack of judgment,” says Vivian.

She’s made bad decisions before but this one takes the cake. Martin, however, thinks the sparks that flew mean they’re good together. Vivian explains she won’t risk her job or her dignity, but Martin isn’t ready to give up.

When Vivian says it’s over and walks away, Martin whispers, “We’ll see about that.”

Malcolm pays a visit to Martin to pick his brain about The Vulture. Martin points out lots of serial killers start with animals and Malcolm wonders why The Vulture took the leap and killed a person.

Martin’s obviously distracted and claims it’s because he doesn’t usually get visitors during “quiet time.” Apparently, quiet time is for contemplating things, and Martin drifts away into a vision of Dr. Capshaw looking to die for in a gorgeous black evening gown. He gets lost in this daydream, imagining being with Vivian.

In fact, Martin’s so caught up in his dream that Malcolm quickly turns around to see what Martin’s staring at. Of course, there’s nothing there.

Malcolm thinks his dad’s fantasizing about murder, blissfully unaware Martin’s actually fantasizing about sex with Dr. Capshaw.

Finally, Martin returns to reality and explains now that The Vulture’s killed his first human being, he’ll do it again soon. “You can’t keep a good man down,” says Martin with a smile.

Back at the station, Malcolm and Edrisa talk about her interest in solving crimes. She recalls it started at a young age, and now the Killabustas feel like family.

Gil joins them and reveals the victim’s name is Alex Malone. He was a retired 60-year-old who belonged to the Audubon Society. Malcolm doesn’t think it’s a coincidence and Edrisa says Alex was part of the Killabustas. His nickname was Bird Boy, he was Edrisa’s friend, and he was pursuing a lead on Craigslist regarding how The Vulture obtained the birds he killed.

Malcolm and Dani head over to check out Alex’s place that evening. Before they start their investigation, Dani reveals she also lost someone in the field. Malcolm tries to brush off her concern, but Dani wants to talk about it. She recalls lying about being fine afterward and then confesses that led to her ODing.

Malcolm’s sorry this happened to her, but Dani isn’t finished. She assures Malcolm trauma doesn’t just disappear and she’s there to help him face it.

Their private discussion’s interrupted by Edrisa knocking on the car’s window. She apologizes for showing up unexpectedly but needs to be part of this investigation.

They’re approaching the house when someone comes running out. This unknown intruder jumps in a four-door hybrid fuel-efficient family car (per Malcolm’s description). Malcolm leaps into the street, holding out his hand and demanding the driver stop. It doesn’t. Malcolm’s hit and thrown over the car, landing with a thud.

He’s on the ground in pain when the car pulls to a stop. Malcolm grunts out that his idea worked.

Three people leap out of the vehicle, with one claiming to be a fireman. Edrisa immediately recognizes them from her Killabustas group.

She’s excited about this development; Dani and Malcolm aren’t.

Malcolm hallucinates a visit from his dad as he ices his head. The imaginary Martin suggests Malcolm open up to Dani and believes Malcolm can trust her.

The following day Edrisa joins Malcolm to interrogate the fireman who suggests they call him Blaze (Michael Luwoye). After Edrisa and the man do a little (adorable) flirting, Malcolm gets down to business.

As Malcolm’s engaged in his interview, Dani and JT are also separately interviewing the two other Killabustas – Ashton (Steven Boyer) and Sasha (Maria Dizzia).

None of the web sleuths can believe Alex was murdered. Alex had reached out about a possible ID of The Vulture but then never followed through with a meetup. The threesome took it upon themselves to find Alex Malone (there are apparently 86 Alex Malones in NYC), ultimately locating his house. Blaze went inside to check on him but didn’t discover anything of importance.

Blaze reveals Alex sent him a mailer from the Audubon Society with a note in it. That jogs Edrisa’s memory; she remembers also receiving an Audubon Society mailer just yesterday. She tossed it without really looking at it but hasn’t thrown out her recycling yet.

Before leaving the interrogation, Edrisa hands Blaze her business card.

Gil shows up at the Whitly place and delivers the statements from The Surgeon case. Jessica’s surprised and also nervous, convinced she’s in over her head. Gil confesses all of the officers thought she was guilty when she first came to the station to talk about Martin. But after hearing her side of the story, they no longer thought she knew about her husband’s activities.

Gil offers to help if she needs it. Jessica thinks it’s something she has to do on her own.

Edrisa nervously shows Malcolm around her place, pointing out her queen-sized bed even though it has nothing to do with his visit. He’s only been there a few seconds when Edrisa receives a Killabustas alert on her laptop. She also receives a text from Blaze, asking her out on a date for that evening.

Malcolm empties her recyclables and finds the note from Alex. He discovered The Vulture purchased the birds using the name “Save the Sparrows.” Edrisa recognizes that username as a member of the Killabustas.

Blaze and Edrisa have their date and kiss in front of her place. Before following her in, Blaze scans the streets. He’s acting a little sketchy but Edrisa doesn’t notice.

Malcolm figures out The Vulture/Save the Sparrows was searching for a place to belong and joined Killabustas. Malcolm believes The Vulture was ignored and isolated, and Killabustas members gave him the attention he craved. He killed Alex so that the group would be preserved.

Malcolm puts the clues together and fingers Blaze for the murder. Dani agrees, especially given the fact a firefighter would know how to handle a chainsaw.

They hustle off to Edrisa’s place and bust in as she and Blaze are either having sex or on the verge. Malcolm and Dani are confused, and Blaze realizes they mistakenly believe he’s the killer.

As they’re talking Malcolm notices a brown bag that appears to be a takeout order. Edrisa and Blaze didn’t order anything and Malcolm quickly opens the bag. Inside is Alex’s head!

Malcolm brings Edrisa, Blaze, and Dani to his home after offering Edrisa a place to stay to keep her safe. Dani thinks they should shut down Killabustas, but Malcolm says they need it live to see what The Vulture does next.

As Edrisa and Blaze explore Malcolm’s belongings (and talk about bondage), Sasha and Ashton arrive with Killabustas updates. Ashton reveals a member pulled 50 hours of footage from the warehouse, and Dani’s surprised Malcolm seems to be turning the investigation over to the web sleuths.

The footage shows a van parked outside the warehouse the night of the murder. It has Arizona plates that ties into the killer’s bird purchases. They’re excited about heading to the warehouse to see if the van’s still there, but Dani squashes their enthusiasm. The NYPD will need to investigate, not the Killabustas.

Blaze and Edrisa appear to have a real connection, and they kiss as he leaves Malcolm’s place. Malcolm’s lost in thought and Edrisa wonders if he’s jealous, but Malcolm’s actually having second thoughts about the van.

Dani learns the van’s still parked there and Gil calls to say the plates were stolen from a truck outside Phoenix.

Malcolm and Dani realize the killer is Ashton, a truck driver, which makes sense since only an hour into 50 hours of footage he spotted the van. JT and Gil discover Ashton’s been through Arizona six times in the past year. And right now Ashton’s with Blaze. (Poor Edrisa!)

Dani and Malcolm race off, scanning the streets for any sign of Ashton. Dani spots his truck and discovers the back’s locked and there’s blood.

Malcolm and Edrisa spot Ashton walking out of a business, and Malcolm pretends they just got a new lead. He invites them up to his loft and asks about Blaze, with Ashton lying that Blaze is moving the car. Malcolm dials his cell and it rings in Ashton’s jacket.

Ashton apologizes to Edrisa while admitting Blaze is bleeding out in his truck. Edrisa’s upset but Ashton claims everything he did as The Vulture was for the group. Only the group gave him a place to be among friends.

Ashton admits he killed Alex and Edrisa begs for Blaze’s life, reminding him Blaze is one of them. But Ashton has a plan – Blaze will die, he’ll escape, and Killabustas will keep hunting for him.

Malcolm bursts his bubble, assuring him the “family” will give up on him once they learn the truth.

As they’re talking, Edrisa uses the knife Blaze gave her for protection and stabs him in the arm. Malcolm punches him in the face, causing Ashton to drop the gun. He grabs Ashton’s keys and sends Edrisa off to save Blaze.

Blaze is still alive but has lost a lot of blood when she finds him in the back of Ashton’s truck. Edrisa reveals she stabbed Ashton and Blaze tells her she’s awesome. (How adorable is this new couple?!)

Over at Claremont, Martin continues to put the moves on Vivian, sure she won’t continue to push him away. Vivian warns Martin to quit but he doesn’t, so she claims he needs to be restrained because he’s become agitated. He’s placed in a bed and buckled in.

Vivian returns that evening and tells Martin he spoke at her medical school. She admits she wanted what he had and was the top of her class. Unfortunately, her residency fell apart because she pushed herself too hard and refused to play “their games.” That’s why she’s currently employed at Claremont.

Martin admits surgeons can be bastards with killer instincts. He knows everyone was wrong about her and apologizes for undermining her authority. Martin asks her to forget about him, saying she needs someone who can make her dreams come true. He’s only capable of inspiring nightmares.

Vivian quickly releases the straps tethering him to the bed. She says they have to do this quickly as she unties his pants. “I can’t make any promises,” replies Martin.

Jessica visits Gil and asks if the offer to help’s still on the table. She giggles as she drinks some of his beer, truly happy to be reunited with Gil. He reminds her how fiercely protective she was of her children during The Surgeon investigation, and remembers time always seeming to slow down for him whenever she walked into a room. “It still does,” says Gil, removing the beer from her hand and turning up the music.

They dance while staring into each other’s eyes. (Love this turn of events – thank you Prodigal Son writers for allowing them to at least be momentarily happy together.)

Dani and Malcolm also spend a little time alone. His hand shakes when he asks what would happen if he wasn’t the person she thought he was. He then slips up and says Nicholas instead of Nat while referencing the recent death he witnessed.

Dani once again assures him she’s there for him. Malcolm reacts by kicking her out without offering any explanation.

The episode ends with Friar Pete joining Vivian in an elevator. He claims to smell musk on her and says she reeks of sin.

Series Description, Courtesy of CBS:

Blue Bloods is a drama about a multi-generational family of cops dedicated to New York City law enforcement. Frank Reagan is the New York Police Commissioner, and heads both the police force and the Reagan brood. He runs his department as diplomatically as he runs his family, even when dealing with the politics that plagued his unapologetically bold father, Henry, during his stint as Chief.

A source of pride and concern for Frank is his eldest son, Danny, a seasoned detective, family man and Iraq War vet who on occasion uses dubious tactics to solve cases with his partner, Detective Maria Baez. The Reagan women in the family include middle daughter, Erin, a New York Assistant D.A. who serves as the legal compass for her siblings and father, and is a single parent to her daughter Nicky, who is pursuing a career in San Francisco. Jamie is the youngest Reagan, a Harvard Law graduate and the family’s “golden boy.”

Unable to deny the family tradition, Jamie decided to give up a lucrative future in law and follow in the family footsteps as a cop. He’s found a friend and ally in his wife, Eddie, who keeps him on his toes, and has very different reasons than the Reagans for joining the police force. The Reagans welcomed a new family addition after Frank learned his deceased son, officer Joe Reagan, has an adult child they never knew about, a young man who is a rising NYPD cop.

‘Wings of Fire’ Animated Series Coming to Netflix with Executive Producer Ava DuVernay

Wings of Fire

Tui T. Sutherland’s bestselling book series Wings of Fire is being adapted into an animated family-friendly event series at Netflix. Academy Award nominee Ava DuVernay is on board to executive produce along with author Sutherland, Sam Register, and ARRAY Filmworks’ Sarah Bremner.

The Warner Bros. Animation production has Dan Milano (Glitch Techs), Christa Starr (Mystery Science Theater 3000), and Justin Ridge (Star Wars Resistance) on board as showrunners and executive producers. Dan Milano and Christa Starr are adapting the books, with the season to consist of 10 40-minute episodes.

“Within this epic book series from the mind of Tui Sutherland is an elegant saga filled with wisdom and wonder, exploring ideas of belonging and bias, camaraderie and community,” stated DuVernay. “On behalf of my colleagues Sarah Bremner and Paul Garnes of ARRAY Filmworks, we’re thrilled to partner with Netflix and Warner Bros. Animation for this dynamic adaptation where five young dragonets fulfill their destiny and show viewers how to fulfill their own.”

More than 14 million copies of Sutherland’s books, published by Scholastic, are in print.

Netflix’s VP of Original Animation Melissa Cobb said, “We couldn’t be more proud that Ava has chosen Netflix as the home for her first animated series. An epic fantasy saga full of sweep and spectacle, Wings of Fire promises to be a must-see event for the whole family.”

“The Wings of Fire books have captured the imagination of millions. In Ava, Justin, Christa and Dan we have a visionary creative team that will bring that same sense of wonder and adventure from the books to life with animation and create the next great animated family series at Netflix,” stated Sam Register, President, Warner Bros. Animation and Cartoon Network Studios.

Author Tui T. Sutherland authored a blog post and said the question of whether the book series would become a television series has been one of the most-asked questions from fans. Sutherland’s pleased the answer’s not only yes but that the team compiled to bring Wings of Fire to life is so talented.

“I am so immensely thrilled and grateful that Ava DuVernay is our Queen of Dragons (I’m pretty sure that’s the official title). Ava is someone who saves the world every day without waiting for any prophecy to tell her what to do. I hope some of my dragons grow up to be just like her!” wrote Sutherland. “And I knew the minute I met our showrunners, Dan Milano and Christa Starr, that they are funny, kind, super-nerd kindred spirits who 100% understand what I’m trying to do with the books. FanWings, you will love them, too! In their talented hands, I have faith the TV show will fulfill the dreams of all the people who’ve asked me that question over the years.”

Sutherland added, “When I started writing this series, I wanted to show that any dragon can be part of saving the world, no matter how shy or weird or prickly or overly enthusiastic they are. I wanted the readers to feel that, too — that each of you is important and wonderful just as you are, and you can make a difference. I wanted you to see yourselves in the pages of this dragon world – and now I hope you’ll be able to see yourselves on screen as well.”

The Plot, Courtesy of Netflix:

A bitter war has raged for generations between the dragon tribes who inhabit the epic world of Pyrrhia. According to prophecy, five young dragons will rise to end the bloodshed and bring peace back to the land. Raised and trained in secret from the time they were hatched, the Dragonets of destiny – Clay, Tsunami, Glory, Starflight, and Sunny – embark on an evolving quest that will bring them face to face with their true selves and the overwhelming scope of this savage war they are destined to bring to an end.
