The CW’s The Flash season six episode 16 saw the return of a person of interest for Ralph (Hartley Sawyer) and the exit of a main cast member.

Episode 16 begins with Joseph Carver (Eric Nenninger) hiring Rag Doll (Troy James) to kill Joe West (Jesse L. Martin) because of his RICO investigation.

Over at the West home, Joe, Barry (Grant Gustin), Mirror Iris (Candice Patton), Cisco (Carlos Valdes) and Cecile (Danielle Nicolet) are enjoying game night when Joe receives a message from Chief David Singh (Patrick Sabongui) about the investigation into Carver.

In the mirror dimension, Iris tells Eva (Efrat Dor) she thinks if she can get a message to her husband, who she reveals is The Flash, he should be able to vibrate them out of the dimension. Eva fakes being exhausted from controlling the mirror and says she needs to rest, but suggests Iris should keep looking into her idea.

Once alone, Eva tells Mirror Iris to get The Flash to drain the rest of his superspeed.

Meanwhile, Cisco teams up with Ralph to help him find and bring to justice Sue Dearbon, who Cisco knows has gotten under Ralph’s skin. Ralph and Cisco head to a big financial company’s event which Ralph believes Sue is targeting.

In another part of Central City, Joe’s driving when he realizes his brakes aren’t working. His car starts to accelerate all on its own. In a very suspenseful scene, Joe speeds across the city steering the car away from hitting people and other cars. When his out-of-control car aims itself at a wall, Joe dives out just before the car slams into it and explodes.

After the accident, Joe tells Singh, Barry, and Iris about what happened. Singh pushes Joe to go into Witness Protection but Joe refuses. Barry promises Joe he’ll figure out how Joe’s car was sabotaged.

At the investment gala, Cisco and Ralph are trying to double-check the security when they come across Sue Dearbon (Natalie Dreyfuss) who used a disguise (a Mission Impossible-type mask) to get into the party. Cisco’s quite impressed by her accent and role play but Ralph is not pleased at all. Sue once again gets what she was looking for – access codes to most of the investment branches in Central City – and escapes.

Joe interrogates Sunshine in lockup to try to get her to turn on Carver. As he’s talking, Rag Doll slowly and creepily emerges out of a large evidence box. Luckily, Barry has discovered by going through Joe’s car that it was Rag Doll who sabotaged it. He races over just as Joe fires three shots at Rag Doll, who uses his unique meta-powers to boomerang the bullets back at Joe. Barry speeds to grab the three bullets and grabs two before his speed hiccups and he falls. The third bullet hits Joe in the shoulder.

Over at S.T.A.R. Labs, Barry argues with Joe about possibly stepping back from the Carver investigation. Joe says he won’t stop but Barry’s finally able to convince him to stay put until he can figure out a way to catch Rag Doll.

At their apartment, Barry brings Iris up to speed about Joe. She pushes him to just use his speed to find Rag Doll but Barry reminds her he can’t because of his speed depletion. He assures her he’ll find a way to track him.

Joe decides to pay Carver a visit at his home. He warns Carver he knows he hired Rag Doll to kill him. During their conversation, Joe gets the overconfident Carver to slip up and implicate himself with Rag Doll. Joe shows him he has recorded their conversation on his phone, but Carver’s able to destroy the recording by using a small EMP pulse. He threatens Joe’s family saying he can eliminate anyone, anywhere.

Joe punches Carver and leaves.

Back at S.T.A.R. Labs, Barry yells at Joe for confronting Carver and suggests Joe reconsider going into Witness Protection until he and Iris can find a way to bring down Carver. Again, Joe refuses.

Ralph tracks Sue to another investment company and blows her cover story. He speaks to her alone and tells her he knows she’s going after the organization called “Black Hole” and Carver because he’s blackmailing her parents who are decent people. He offers to help and she gives him the big jewel she stole earlier, advising him to check it out. Sue also admits she felt guilty about tricking him before when they first met.

Over at The Central City Citizen, Allegra (Kayla Compton) and Nash (Tom Cavanagh) are attacked by Rag Doll who’s able to knock out both of them and kidnap Cecile.

At S.T.A.R. Labs, Joe shows the message he received from Rag Doll about kidnapping Cecile to Barry. Barry says he can coordinate her location and they will go together to save her. The Flash speeds Joe over to an abandoned building where Cecile is being kept. The Flash takes on Rag Doll while Joe goes looking for Cecile.

Joe finds Cecile strapped to a chair that has a pressure bomb connected to it. Joe calls Nash to try to help him disarm it. Nash explains there should be four wires and instructs him to cut the green one. Unfortunately, Joe says there are several wires and most of them are green.

Joe decides to try something else and tells Cecile to move with him like they did last year dancing in sync to switch places. It works and Joe is now on the chair with the bomb and time is ticking down.

The Flash, who is at first losing the fight against Rag Doll, uses his smarts more than his speed and gets the upper hand on him. He cuffs Rag Doll to the very same steam pipes the meta was using to hide in.

The Flash speeds over to Cecile and Joe’s location. Joe tells him to speed her to safety. The Flash does and then tries to speed back in time to save Joe. As he superspeeds, The Flash’s speed again starts to falter. Joe sits on the chair as the seconds count down 5…4…3…2 and that’s when Joe, in a last-ditch effort, tries disconnecting one of the green wires. It stops the bomb’s countdown with 2 seconds to spare.

Joe agrees to go into Witness Protection. He hugs Cecile goodbye and wants her to tell their baby he is coming home soon. Barry promises to tell Iris and also promises to bring down Carver so Joe can come home.

After Joe’s taken away, Singh (who also said goodbye) gets in his car and looks in his rearview mirror. Singh talks to Eva in the mirror and tells her that Joe West is out of the picture. Eva tells Singh that if anyone is going to destroy her husband, it’s going to be her.

Back at home, Carver gets a gift delivered and it’s a large mirror. He looks at it, surprised and then shocked when he sees his wife, Eva, in the mirror. She demands an apology but he refuses. They argue about him letting her rot in the mirror and Eva says, “I had a vision for humankind.” “So did I, and now I’m making it a reality!” replies Carver. He breaks the mirror and shards of glass with Eva’s face in them fall all over the floor.

Barry returns to his apartment to tell Iris about Joe but she already knows because Singh called her. She yells at Barry, upset he could have used his speed to save him and stop Rag Doll. Barry explains it’s not that simple, but she refuses to listen saying that now, like him, she has lost both parents. Iris tells Barry she’s done with him and to get out.

Barry, shocked by her behavior, believes they can get through this but Mirror Iris is adamant. Barry leaves but turns to look at her just as she slams the door. Barry, with a quizzical look on his face, walks down the hall.

The Flash Season 6 Episode 16 Review:

Action-packed, suspenseful, and dramatic, episode 16 titled “So Long and Goodnight” sees the exit of the patriarch of Team Flash and the beginning of the team-up of Ralph and Sue. The episode is noticeably missing a key Team Flash member – Caitlin Snow/Frost – and her absence is never explained in any of the dialogue.

The standout performance in the episode is delivered by Jesse L. Martin as Joe who becomes determined, and even bullheaded, to bring down Carver and the Black Hole organization. Martin, who sadly has been underused in the last few seasons with almost no storylines for his character, shines portraying Joe as the tough, smart, seasoned, and unstoppable cop determined to bring Carver to justice. He also displays the loss and defeat his character is feeling when he realizes he must go into witness protection to keep his family safe from Carver.

With Barry finally realizing Mirror Iris is not acting towards him the way his wife would, it looks like Team Flash will finally discover the imposter and hopefully free Iris from the mirror dimension.

‘Spaceship Earth’ Releases a Trippy Trailer and Updated Screening Plans

Rather than release Spaceship Earth straight to digital/On Demand, Neon’s opting for a different approach during this COVID-19 pandemic. Spaceship Earth will be launched on May 8, 2020 in drive-in theaters as well as pop-up cityscape projections which they’re quick to point out will be “safely accessible to quarantined city dwellers.”

The film will also be available via websites for select theaters, museums, book stores, restaurants, non-profits, and film festivals. It will launch simultaneously on Apple TV, Amazon, Google Play, FandangoNow, Vudu, DIRECTV, DISH, and Hulu.

Organizations and businesses interested in partnering with Neon for the film’s release can visit www.NEONrated.com for further information.

“Neon has never released a film without the benefit of theaters and Spaceship Earth is no exception to that rule,” explained Neon Founder/CEO Tom Quinn. “As every day becomes a harsh, almost surreal, new reality, it’s clear we must continue launching new films and entertain audiences as best we can. It’s also important we innovate and adapt to support the many businesses in need. Even though Spaceship Earth won’t be playing in theaters across the country we hope by making it available ‘everywhere’ the film’s release can at least embody the communal spirit of cinema if not the big screen. We miss our partners in exhibition greatly and look forward to cinema’s triumphant return.”

Matt Wolf directed the documentary which received stellar reviews following its screening at Sundance. It’s currently sitting at 89% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.

Discussing his documentary, director Wolf stated, “While making this film, I never could have imagined that a pandemic would require the entire world to be quarantined. Like all of us today, the biospherians lived confined inside, and they managed day to day life with limited resources, often under great interpersonal stress. But when they re-entered the world, they were forever transformed—no longer would they take anything for granted—not even a breath.

In light of Covid-19, we are all living like biospherians, and we too will reenter a new world. The question is how will we be transformed? Now with a visceral sense of the fragility of our world, it’s on us to protect it.”

The Plot:

Spaceship Earth is the true, stranger-than-fiction, adventure of eight visionaries who in 1991 spent two years quarantined inside of a self-engineered replica of Earth’s ecosystem called BIOSPHERE 2. The experiment was a worldwide phenomenon, chronicling daily existence in the face of life-threatening ecological disaster and a growing criticism that it was nothing more than a cult.

The bizarre story is both a cautionary tale and a hopeful lesson of how a small group of dreamers can potentially reimagine a new world. It’s an eerily prescient and telling film for the world of today.”

“Like Father…” Plot – Malcolm continues to unravel as the mystery of the girl in the box comes to a head. As Nicholas Endicott’s (guest star Dermot Mulroney) true colors continue to show, the Whitlys must decide to what lengths they are willing to go in order to take him down.

Season One Details:

“Malcolm Bright (Payne) has a gift. He knows how killers think and how their minds work. Why? Back in the 1990s, his father was one of the worst, a notorious serial killer called ‘The Surgeon.’ So it makes sense Bright is the best criminal psychologist around; murder is the family business.

He will use his twisted genius to help the NYPD solve crimes and stop killers, all while dealing with a manipulative mother, annoyingly normal sister, a homicidal father still looking to bond with his prodigal son, and his own constantly evolving neuroses.

Meet the happy family. Dr. Martin Whitly (Sheen) is intelligent, wealthy, charismatic and also happens to be a predatory sociopath who killed at least 23 people. Bright’s mother, Jessica Whitly (Young), an elegant and WASPy New Yorker, wields sarcasm like a samurai sword and has an opinion on every aspect of Bright’s life.

Perhaps Bright’s only ally is his sister, Ainsley Whitley (Sage), a TV journalist who wishes her brother would “take a break from murder” and have a normal life.

Unfortunately for his sister, the only way Bright feels normal is by solving cases with the help of his longtime mentor, NYPD Detective Gil Arroyo (Phillips). Arroyo’s one of the best detectives around, and he expects no less from his team – Detective Dani Powell (Perrineau), a headstrong no-nonsense cop who quickly becomes impressed with Bright’s work; and Detective JT Tarmel (Harts), a born-and-bred New Yorker who questions whether Bright is a psychopath himself.

So much for normal.”

‘Roswell, New Mexico’ Season 2 Episode 6 Recap: “Sex and Candy”

The CW’s Roswell, New Mexico season two episode six picks up with Isobel (Lily Cowles) and Max (Nathan Parsons) in a brutal fight. Isobel eggs him on, trying to get her brother to expel the darkness. He can’t control himself and is about to zap Isobel when Michael (Michael Vlamis) arrives to help his sister. It works as a brief distraction but then Max turns his attention back to Isobel. The amount of electricity flowing between the siblings shorts out his pacemaker and Michael uses his powers to telekinetically reset Max’s heart.

It works and Max apologizes for what he just put them through. He’s wobbly but alive!

Liz (Jeanine Mason) runs in as Max is hugging Isobel but when she races to hug her resurrected boyfriend, he has no idea who she is.

Liz, Michael, and Isobel try and figure out what’s up and discuss ways to get Max’s memories back. They carry on this discussion in front of him – something he points out when he asks them not to act like he’s not there. Liz really thinks they can get the memories back by pumping him full of antidotes.

Max isn’t comfortable having Liz around because he doesn’t like the idea that she knows their alien secrets.

Maria (Heather Hemmens) sets up a “Mexican market” in the parking lot of the bar and Alex (Tyler Blackburn) wonders what’s up. She wants him to go on a mission with her but before they can take off, an adorable dog runs up and Alex can’t resist picking her up. Turns out her name’s Buffy and her owner, Forrest (Christian Antidormi), says she’s been acting weird. Maria thinks it’s because of the impending meteor shower.

Alex asks how the two know each other and Maria explains Forrest is helping her organize an open mic night at The Wild Pony. Forrest flirts with Alex but that doesn’t go over well.

Maria wants Alex to go with her to figure out where her mom got the boots she came back with after wandering around the desert.

Max and Liz are also hanging out – separately – at Maria’s market. Max absolutely butchers Spanish as he tries to describe what he wants from a vendor. Liz rescues him and they tease each other, getting super flirty. Max has a killer smile going on as he explains he meant to say he didn’t want condoms on his jerky.

Max asks Liz out on a date to watch the meteor shower that night. Initially, Liz turns him down but then pretty quickly caves when Max turns on the charm.

A little later, Michael, Isobel, and Max are hanging out as Isobel puts together an outfit for Max to wear on his date. Max is busy texting people – they’ve been reaching out since he returned. But he’s worried he can’t reach Cameron. Michael explains Max ghosted her so she’s probably ghosting him in return. (Remember, Cameron is MIA after being sucked up into a bright light.)

Maria and Alex play a game of Never Have I Ever as they drive to the cobbler’s place. Maria reminds him he was her first kiss and her first boob graze. She had to change her life plans when he came out; she admits she thought she would marry him.

Alex delivers his own bombshell. When he kissed her, it was the first time he felt happy touching someone.

Michael calls but Maria doesn’t pick up the phone. Alex tries to get her to not give up on Michael, reminding her he acted as though he killed someone for 10 years so that Isobel didn’t have to shoulder that guilt. Plus, he really only lies to protect his family. And he pushes people away to protect them.

They keep driving but now they’re pretty much lost. To make matters worse, they get a flat tire and don’t have a spare. Maria’s happy she’s got an armed military guy with her since they’re in the middle of nowhere. Unfortunately, Alex isn’t carrying his gun.

The guy who owns the property appears out of nowhere, holding an ax. When Maria explains they’re looking for the bootmaker, he claims that’s him. He introduces himself as Travis (David Anders) and invites them in. (The man definitely gives off a creepy serial killer vibe. Commence the “Don’t go in the house!” screaming in three, two, one…)

Travis offers them milk but they both refuse. (Extremely wise decision.) Maria asks if he remembers who he sold turquoise boots to and he claims he doesn’t. But when Maria shows him a photo of her mom, he remembers she bought them with cash. Maria doesn’t think her mom has that much cash, and Travis takes offense thinking she’s calling him a liar.

When Travis steps outside, Alex says what we’re all thinking. “This guy’s going to turn us into skin suits!”

Maria can’t reach Michael because the cell service sucks. When she suggests Alex look for receipts while she tries to get better service, Alex squashes that idea. “This is why I don’t like horror films. The gay guy always dies first,” he says. Umm, no, that’s not the horror film first victim trope. Maria stares at him and he corrects himself and says, “Or second.”

Max shows up for their date at the café and Liz is still working. She serves him up a Little Green Men milkshake, hoping that it will – as Max says – “bring all his milkshakes to the yard.” (His pop song recall remains spot-on.)

He takes a sip and says he doesn’t like it. Liz is confused; he’s been ordering this particular milkshake since he was 14. She shakes it off saying when people wake up from comas, they sometimes have changes in their personalities.

Max and Liz take a horseback ride and it’s her first time on a horse. He tells her a story about his experiences but then realizes he’s probably told her this story before. Max apologizes, admitting he just wants this first date to be better than their first first date. Liz corrects him – they never had a real first date.

“It’s a first date for both of us,” she says as they take their leisurely ride.

Isobel’s also pouring on the flirty vibes with a sexy female bartender at the Planet 7 bar, looking to get into the good kind of trouble. She then spots Kyle (Michael Trevino) at a table by himself. She joins him and he admits he just hasn’t wanted to hang out at The Wild Pony. Isobel realizes it’s because he wants to avoid Liz now that Max is back.

A few drinks later, Kyle and Isobel do some dirty dancing and seem to be into each other. They make small talk as they feel each other’s bodies on the dance floor. Kyle brings up watching the meteor shower and Isobel says she doesn’t like them since her family burst into flames entering the earth’s atmosphere. Kyle feels super guilty until he realizes Isobel’s just screwing with him. (This is the happiest we’ve seen either character over a season and a half! True chemistry going on between this unlikely duo.)

Isobel suggests he take her into the bathroom.

Night falls and Max and Liz take a seat under a blanket. He offers her some whiskey before they play 20 questions. Liz reveals it took him 20 years to tell her he loved her. She talks about her ex-fiancé and opens up about leaving him without saying goodbye.

Max confesses the worst thing he’s ever done is kill a man on a camping trip. He recalls the man came out of nowhere and attacked Isobel. He’s ashamed of it and that leads him to explain why he wanted Isobel to kill him. He doesn’t want to risk hurting even one innocent person.

Liz thinks that coming out of the pod with some memories deleted is probably a good thing. It’s a clean slate for them, but Max reminds her she was the love of his life according to his siblings. Liz assures him the worst thing that happened to him was actually connected to her, and she doesn’t want those memories to return.

Liz puts an early end to their first date.

Back at Travis’ place, Alex is busted looking around the house. He’s forced to admit Maria’s mom was taken and showed up weeks later wearing Travis’ rare boots. They just want some answers.

Travis is as crazy as we assumed and begins singing, “I think we’re alone now.” Alex attempts to leave but Travis takes a swing at him with his guitar. As they fight, Travis picks up a sharp tool and stabs Alex in the chest.

Alex screams out in pain and Maria, cautiously, moves toward the house. Only Travis emerges, claiming that Alex attacked him. Maria turns to run away as he says, “My condolences.”

Maria attempts to grab the ax but can’t remove it from a tree stump. Instead, she flees into a cornfield. Travis follows close behind.

Maria’s totally freaked out and screams as she runs into Michael who’s also shown up in the cornfield. He explains he saw her truck and followed her screams. As they’re talking, Travis walks up behind Michael and hits him in the head with the ax. Michael’s knocked out as Maria takes off screaming – again.

From the terrifying cornfield we head straight to the bar where Isobel is assuring Kyle she’s not the type of alien who eats humans. They discuss the merits of casual hookups and Kyle admits he’s six drinks in and she’s super attractive. But, there’s someone else.

Blaire the bartender cuts in. It’s not Kyle she wants to dance with – it’s Isobel.

While Isobel’s getting her flirt on, out in the cornfield in the middle of nowhere Maria’s tricked Travis and kicks him in the balls. She grabs his ax, hits him with it, and flees again. She runs to Michael’s who seems to be okay and the two return to retrieve Alex.

The threesome’s outside the house when Travis appears. But wait…there are two Travises. (Or is it Travi?) Anyway, the one who isn’t insane shoots the one who stabbed Alex and chased Maria into the cornfield.

The “good” Travis explains the evil one showed up a few weeks ago and locked him in a shed. He was finally able to escape when Maria and Alex distracted the evil Travis. The clone apparently has to do with some paramilitary group and research & development.

Max is back home by himself when he starts looking through his books. A bullet falls from one and as he holds it, he remembers Liz being shot and saving her life.

Liz is on the roof of the Crash Down Café with a bottle of wine when Max shows up. His memories have come back and he explains that he never liked Little Green Man milkshakes. He only drank it when she brought him the wrong shake because he was in love with her. Since that day he’s just acted like he enjoys them.

Liz listens with tears in her eyes as she realizes he truly does remember her.

“I am not better off without you. I am not whole without you,” says Max. He confesses he had no idea what would happen when he brought back Rosa, but he just wanted to heal everyone by resurrecting her.

They passionately kiss. When he suggests they go back to his place, she says no. She wants him right now on the café’s roof.

Back at the bar, Isobel is also busy passionately kissing the bartender. Her shift must be over because they drift out of the bar together with Isobel in the lead.

Michael, Alex, and Maria make it back to Michael’s trailer where Michael looks over Alex’s knife wound on his chest. “I can’t believe I was Shyamalaned by an evil twin,” says Alex.

The sexual tension flows as Maria and Michael tend to Alex in close quarters. Michael can’t believe he almost lost both of them, and he and Maria kiss. Alex watches and then says it’s time for him to go. Maria doesn’t want him to leave and kisses him on the lips. She says, “I just want us all safe.”

She grabs Michael’s hand while still seated next to Alex. Commence a sensual threesome that heats up the screen.

The following morning Alex and Michael discuss Travis. Apparently, Travis set his house on fire and is gone, according to the sheriff’s report.

Alex wonders if Maria’s still asleep as they stand just a few feet from Michael’s trailer. “I really never thought I would check that off my bucket list,” admits Alex.

Michael asks if Alex believes they’ve crossed a line. “I mean, if you told me I was gonna have a threesome with my best friend and my first love I would say, ‘Which circle of hell am I in?’”

Alex confesses he felt loved. They both admit they thought they’d end up together.

Michael doesn’t follow Alex as he walks away. Instead, he returns to Maria.

Max and Liz make-out outside the café before she has to start work for the day. He tells her he loves her and as he walks away, Liz realizes she still hasn’t said it to him. She blurts out, “I love you,” and can’t believe she didn’t say it for the first time after his milkshake speech. She blames the fact she didn’t on him removing his pants and distracting her.

Max reveals that the whole time he was gone he knew she loved him.

Alex shows up for open mic night at The Wild Pony. He listens as Forrest recites an original poem.

Isobel’s waiting at Max’s place when he finally returns home from his overnight date. She wants to catch up and demands to hear the scoop on his date. She’s proud to show off her “I got probed at Planet 7” T-shirt from the gay bar. When she tells him she saw Kyle there and she met a lesbian, Max doesn’t respond. He’s taken off his shirt and has a vision of himself as a child chained to the floor.

‘Ozark’ Season 2 Episode 2 Recap: “The Precious Blood of Jesus”

Netflix’s Ozark season two episode two kicks off with some action as a trucker for Mercer Lumber is shot at by men in a pickup truck who demand to know if the driver works for Mercer Lumber. (The truck clearly says “Mercer Lumber.”) After being told to exit the truck, the driver’s ordered face down on the ground. The man wielding the gun tells him, “I want you to give Mercer a message for me.” He suddenly shoots the driver’s hand off.

Marty (Jason Bateman) is on the phone with someone who seems to be trying to pull out of a deal with him. He offers up more money and the deal’s made. After getting off the phone, he informs Wendy they’re now the proud owners of a riverboat. Wendy thinks he is jumping the gun – they still need to get the bill passed.

Ruth (Julia Garner) is getting ready to leave when Cade’s parole officer shows up to check on him. The parole officer asks Cade if he has a job and Ruth claims her boss might have a job opening for him at the Blue Cat.

Wendy and Charles have a meeting to go over the senators that most likely will vote no on passing the riverboat casino. Charles lets Wendy know she must turn four to a yay. Wendy asks if he has information on the ones that are undecided and on the nos.

Marty’s on the phone with Helen and she demands he get the “hillbillies” (the Snells) under control. After hanging up, Marty calls Ruth into his office and tells her she needs to get the riverboat moved and pay the man for it. She asks how she’s supposed to move it and he tells her to figure it out.

Marty pays a visit to the Snell farm where things aren’t going well between the man the cartel sent to pick up the heroin and the Snells. The drugs are not being loaded into the van. Marty asks Jacob and Darlene what the problem is and Jacob tells him, “Trust.” Jacob goes on to say, “We told them the heroin was pure. That wasn’t good enough for them. Trust.”

Marty tries to be the peacemaker, saying trust is a two-way street. He tells the Snells they’re making everything difficult. The cartel is testing Jacob’s product. Darlene, who is never happy about anything, says, “We are betraying who we are.” The cartel says it’s good.

Wendy’s at the Governor’s prayer luncheon where she makes her rounds trying to talk senators into voting yes on this bill. She’s beginning to realize some just want money sent to their campaign and they’ll vote yes.

Marty meets with Senator Mercer who informs him one of his drivers was run off the road and they blew his hand off. Marty wants to know who “they” are and why “they” would want to blow a man’s hand off. Mercer informs Marty it’s the Kansas City mob and they’re heavy in the casino business. He advises Marty he’s pulling the bill and Marty attempts to talk him out of it, but Mercer says he cannot take the risk.

Darlene visits an adoption agency and is interested in adopting a child. The worker informs her the agency does not like to place children with parents who are more than 40 years older than the child. Darlene lets her know she finds that to be a stupid rule. She suggests Darlene can start by fostering a child and Darlene storms out.

Wendy’s stopped at a red light when she spots Pastor Mason Young (Michael Mosley) on the streets preaching with his baby.

Back at the Byrde residence, Marty asks Wendy if Charles will talk to Mercer. Wendy reveals Charles believes if the mob got to Mercer who knows how many other senators they’re working on. Marty wants to know how many votes they need. Wendy answers, “Two.”

Wendy informs Marty she saw Mason Young on the street, preaching. She wonders if they can help him out somehow. Marty doesn’t think that’s their problem.

Charlotte (Sofia Hublitz) returns home and Marty and Wendy think she’s high.

Charles pays a visit to the Byrdes to let them know he spoke to Mercer last night. It turns out Mercer is still spooked. Charles brings up Frank Cosgrove as the head of the mob and Marty asks what Charles knows about him. Charles explains Frank moved to Kansas City and invested in a couple of casinos. Charles warns Marty if he cannot figure something out, Mercer is pulling the bill tonight.

Ruth calls Marty to alert him there’s a problem with his soon-to-be-purchased boat. It does not have an engine. Marty tells her to have it towed and he’ll cover the cost.

Ruth has other plans when she talks to the owner. She asks the owner how she’s going to move a boat with no engine. He bluffs and says he has another offer. Ruth tells him to take the other offer then and begins to walk away. The man tells her to wait. He’ll drop a couple hundred off the price if she “sits” on his lap for an hour or two. Ruth answers by kicking him in the face and knocking him over in his wheelchair. She tells him to drop 50k and asks if they have a deal. He agrees.

Marty goes down to the basement to ask Buddy if he knows who Frank Cosgrove is. He does. Marty asks if he can set up a meeting and if so, it needs to be today.

Buddy’s able to set the meeting and heads over to Frank’s with Marty. As they pull up, Buddy tells the man at the entrance to tell Frank that Jimmy Small is here. When Marty looks questioningly at Buddy, Buddy replies, “You don’t need to know. But one thing you show know is Cosgrove always thought I f*cked his wife.”

Ruth asks her dad (Trevor Long) to help her tow the riverboat. She opens up to him about wanting to own a house. She seems to think she can do it when the casino is up and running.

Wendy shows up at the strip bar looking for Ruth. While waiting, she takes a seat and watches a dancer named LuLu. Wendy seems to get an idea.

Frank Cosgrove (John Bedford Lloyd) is surprised to see Buddy; he thought he was dead. Buddy informs him soon since he’s terminally ill. Frank asks what they are there for and Marty gets to the point. Frank does not seem interested and it’s Buddy who ends up getting the deal done. Marty tells Frank he’ll let his union workers work on the casino.

Lulu (Kiley Casciano Davis) spots Senator Diane Foreman’s husband at a bar. She joins him and after they leave the bar they head upstairs to a hotel room. Wendy enters the room and begins to record them in a compromising position.

After they drop off the riverboat, Ruth tells her dad Marty agreed to give him a job at the Blue Cat.

Wendy pays a late-night visit to Senator Foreman and shows her the video of her husband. The senator reluctantly agrees to vote yes on the bill.

Marty has a talk with Charlotte about smoking weed. He asks who she was with and she lets him know it was Wyatt. Marty confesses he’s worried about her saying the wrong things when she’s high. She promises to be careful.

In a surprising scene, we finally see what’s happened to Rachel (Jordana Spiro) after she stole Marty’s money and took off. She’s snorting drugs while sitting in a bathtub at a party.

Wendy is with Wilkes and he suggests she keeps working with him. She insists it’s just to get this bill passed. Charles calls her out on her necklace. He knows she paid a visit to the orphanage and that she was there asking about his past. He informs her this is a game and they both played it. Wendy thinks he wants to sleep with her and lets him know she’s figured that out. Charles, in a roundabout way, tells her that’s not what he wants.

Ruth and Cade pull over at a diner and Cade goes inside and robs the place. Ruth watches from the truck and it’s obvious she didn’t have a clue he was going to do that. When he returns, she asks why he did that and reminds him he’s on parole. He simply replies, “Cause I felt like it.”

Angry, Cade says she’s not going to buy a house with a white picket fence and she’s not going to spend her life working for Marty Byrde. He reminds her she’s a Langmore and this is who she is. He slams her head into the dashboard and pins it there telling her she’s going to find Marty’s money and steal it.

Wendy returns home and tells Marty they’ll probably lose. Charles Wilkes wanted something, but the price was too high. Marty asks what it was and Wendy replies, “Me. He wanted me.” This wasn’t supposed to be funny but Marty responds with, “And?” Wendy doesn’t seem to be pleased with that reply and walks away. After she leaves Marty asks, “Was that a no?”

Cut back to Rachel and now she’s driving under the influence. She avoids hitting another vehicle and instead hits a telephone pole.

Charles Wilkes’ minion pays Senator Tim Blake (Rodney Lee Rogers) a visit in the restroom. He informs Senator Blake they’re taking a little trip today. The Senator declines, stating he cannot leave because there’s a big vote today. Wilkes’ guy assures him he won’t be partaking in the voting today.

Wendy shows up at Charles Wilkes’ house to speak with him. She explains she just has to get that bill passed. Charles tells her it’s done. Blake had a family emergency. The votes for no were short. So, it passed. Charles wants to let Wendy know he wasn’t looking for sex out of her. He just wants to work together.

Rachel’s in jail when Agent Roy Petty (Jason Butler Harner) pays her a visit. He gets to the point and threatens to rat her out to the cartel for stealing cartel money. She says she’s calling her lawyer, but he brings up all the charges that could be against her for her accident. He offers her a way out by being an informant for the FBI.

Screen Media has picked up the U.S. distribution rights to the action thriller, The Outpost. Directed by Rod Lurie (The Contender), The Outpost is based on Jack Tapper’s bestselling non-fiction book, The Outpost: An Untold Story of American Valor.

Paul Tamasy and Eric Johnson (The Fighter) adapted Tapper’s book for the screen.

The Outpost was originally supposed to premiere at the South by Southwest Festival. Unfortunately, SXSW was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The film will now premiere around the 4th of July weekend, according to Screen Media.

“The true story depicted – and incredibly executed – in The Outpost, is one of the most heroic stories of American triumph. Rod Lurie, the terrific cast and crew did an amazing job bringing Jake Tapper’s book to life. We couldn’t be more honored to be working with everyone involved to bring this film to audiences this summer,” stated Seth Needle and Mike Messina of Screen Media, announcing the acquisition.

“I wish upon every director a movie so suited to their emotional needs,” said director Lurie. “It was an honor and a duty to tell the story of my brothers in arms. I can think of no modern story that so beautifully displays the spirit of the American soldier. What we are willing to die for tells us so much more about ourselves than what we are willing to kill for. You’ll understand what I mean after you see the film.”

The cast includes Scott Eastwood, Caleb Landry Jones, Orlando Bloom, Jack Kesy, Taylor John Smith, Jacob Scipio, and Milo Gibson. Paul Merryman, Marc Frydman, Jeffrey Greenstein, Jonathan Yunger, Paul Tamasy, and Les Weldon served as producers. Avi Lerner, Jake Tapper, Trevor Short, Eric Johnson, Boaz Davidson, Robert Van Norden, John Kalafatis, Joanna Kalafatis, Mark Rhino Smith, and Tommy Vlahopoulos executive produced.

“I couldn’t be prouder to bring to even wider audiences the story of the selflessness and sacrifice, the courage and determination, of the troops who served at COP Keating,” said author Jake Tapper. “Rod, the producers, and the actors did an incredible job re-creating the outpost and the battle and perhaps most importantly the essential truths of the experience and the heroes there.”

The Outpost Plot:

“In this military thriller, a tiny unit of U.S. soldiers, alone at the remote Combat Outpost Keating, located deep in the valley of three mountains in Afghanistan, battles to defend against an overwhelming force of Taliban fighters in a coordinated attack. The Battle of Kamdesh, as it was known, was the bloodiest American engagement of the Afghan War in 2009 and Bravo Troop 3-61 CAV became one of the most decorated units of the 19-year conflict.”
