Katy Keene Season 1 Episode 5 Photos: Preview of “Song for a Winter’s Night”

The CW’s Katy Keene season one episode four found Katy moping around after breaking it off with KO, Jorge worried he wasn’t good enough for his hunky new firefighter boyfriend, and Pepper allowing a soft porn film to be shot in her rented future club space. Up next, episode five finds the friends at odds.

Episode five, “Song for a Winter’s Night,” will air on March 5, 2020.

The series stars Lucy Hale as Katy Keene, Ashleigh Murray as Josie McCoy, Katherine LaNasa as Gloria Grandbilt, Zane Holtz as KO Kelly, and Lucien Laviscount as Alexander Cabot. Camille Hyde is Alexandra Cabot, Julia Chan is Pepper Smith, and Jonny Beauchamp plays Jorge Lopez/Ginger.

“Chapter Five: Song for a Winter’s Night” Plot – SECRETS REVEALED – With Katy (Hale) trying to get into fashion school, she knows she needs a recommendation letter, so she turns to Gloria (LaNasa) who puts her to the test in making her the ultimate dress in exchange, putting the pressure on Katy. Forced to stay inside because of the polar vortex, tensions grow high when Josie (Murray) and Pepper (Chan) get into a fight and Jorge (Beauchamp) breaks Katy’s number one rule.

Meanwhile, Josie is torn about the deal Alexander’s (Laviscount) dad made her, especially after what Alexander (Camille Hyde) shows her.

The Season 1 Plot, Courtesy of The CW:

Katy Keene follows the lives and loves of four iconic Archie Comics characters — fashion legend-to-be Katy Keene (Hale), singer/songwriter Josie McCoy (Murray), performer Jorge Lopez/Ginger (Beauchamp), and “It Girl” Pepper Smith (Chan) — as they chase their twenty-something dreams in New York City…together.

Katy designs clothes for anyone she can, including her friend and roommate Josie, whose singing talent catches the attention of Alexander Cabot (Laviscount), a CEO who hopes to reboot the record label division of his father’s corporate empire. But Alexander’s dream of signing Josie to a recording contract meets resistance from Cabot Media’s powerful senior vice president Alexandra (Hyde), who also happens to be his twin sister. Josie and Katy’s roommate Jorge works at his family’s bodega and has his eye on Broadway, but after a series of rejections, he hopes to take his drag performance career as Ginger to the next level. The mysterious Pepper Smith plans to open her own version of Andy Warhol’s Factory. She has the connections, but no one seems to know where she got her money — or if she really has any at all.

Katy struggles to manage the pressures of her day job at Lacy’s Department Store and her very demanding boss, Gloria (LaNasa), who is a legendary personal shopper. But Katy has the support of her longtime boyfriend, KO Kelly (Holtz), who has his own dream of becoming a professional boxer. As these aspiring artists take on the runway, the recording studio, Broadway, and the NYC social scene, they will find more than just a career in the big city — they’ll find long-lasting friendship.”

Charlie turns to the team to help save a friend in Fox’s Deputy season one episode 10. Episode 10, “10-8 School Ties,” will air on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at 9pm ET/PT.

Stephen Dorff (“Sheriff Bill Hollister”) leads a cast that includes Brian Van Holt as Cade Ward, Bex Taylor-Klaus as Brianna Bishop, and Shane Paul McGhie as Joseph Harris. Yara Martinez stars as Dr. Paula Reyes and Danielle Moné Truitt is Charlie Minnick.

“10-8 School Ties” Plot – When one of Charlie’s mentees from the local library gets mixed up with a gang, Charlie ropes in the whole team to help save her life. As Bill’s term draws to an end, other players continue to enter the race for power.

Meanwhile, Cade and Teresa are struggling to deal with an unforeseen situation with their foster children.

The Deputy Plot, Courtesy of Fox:

Deputy blends the spirit of a classic Western with a modern-day attitude and emotionally driven, visceral storytelling. Featuring an ensemble of ambitious and complicated people who won’t rest until justice is served, DEPUTY brings a gritty authenticity to the modern cop drama.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is one of the largest police forces in the world, but when the elected Sheriff dies, an arcane rule in the county charter, forged back in the Wild West, suddenly thrusts the most unlikely man into the job. That man is Bill Hollister. A fifth-generation lawman, Bill is only interested in justice; his soul wears a white hat. The bad guys don’t stand a chance, but neither do the politicos in the Hall of Justice.

Under Bill’s command is a county-wide crew of LA’s finest, including Deputy Cade Ward, a former Marine stationed in Afghanistan, eight years sober and one of Bill’s few confidantes; Deputy Brianna Bishop, the whip-smart, sarcastic driver in charge of Bill’s security detail; and Deputy Joseph Harris, the son of Bill’s fallen partner.

The dangers associated with the job often lead the police to LA County General Hospital, where Bill buts heads with Dr. Paula Reyes, the hospital’s chief trauma surgeon – and his wife.

Given a job he never wanted, in an unfamiliar sea of politics, Bill quickly learns that doing what is expected and doing what is right are two different things, and that his innate, dogged pursuit of justice is the only skill the job truly requires.”

NBC’s popular Chicago franchise – Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., and Chicago Med – have all earned three season orders as has Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. The renewals were announced along with news of a five-year deal for Chicago creator, Dick Wolf and Wolf Entertainment.

“I’m gratified and excited that Universal will remain our home for five more years,” Wolf said. “This new term deal complements our recently concluded agreement to make Peacock one of the primary destinations for both the L&O and Chicago brands, as well as our extraordinary three-year NBC broadcast pickups on all four current series. We are now supercharged to expand our business on new platforms, both domestically and internationally, while continuing to produce our current and future series for broadcasting and streaming networks.”

According to NBC’s announcement, the deal includes “multiple series commitments.”

“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with Dick over the decades and it goes without saying he remains one of the most influential producers in history,” stated Bonnie Hammer, Chairman, NBCUniversal Content Studios. “He is a visionary unlike any other whose impact has changed the entire television landscape. We’re beyond thrilled to have Dick and his team remain in the NBCUniversal family for many years to come.”

The Chicago shows drew in 66 million viewers last season. Currently, all three Chicago series are ranked in the top seven most-watched dramas.

“The significance of having Dick Wolf remain at Universal Television can’t be overstated,” said Pearlena Igbokwe, President, Universal Television. “Dick has proven himself masterful at building successful, iconic brands and telling gripping, intelligent and thought-provoking stories. It’s an honor and pleasure to be a part of the Wolf Pack for the next five years. We’re also grateful to NBC for their continued support of the Law & Order and Chicago drama series.”

Paul Telegdy, Chairman, NBC Entertainment, said, “Dick Wolf has proven time and time again that he makes shows audiences love. We are delighted, excited and proud that as part of this epic deal with Wolf Entertainment, NBC’s loyal audience will know that their favorite shows have a certain future for the next three years.”

‘Riverdale’ Season 4 Episode 15 Photos: Preview of “To Die For”

The CW’s Riverdale season four episode 14 didn’t answer many questions as to what happened to Jughead. Is he actually dead? Did Betty have anything at all to do with it? And if he is dead, why don’t any of his friends act like they miss him? Inquiring minds still need to know the answers to these questions.

Season four episode 15 will, hopefully, really address those questions. Directed by Shannon Kohli from a script by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, episode 15 airs on March 4, 2020.

The season four cast is led by KJ Apa as Archie Andrews, Lili Reinhart as Betty Cooper, Camila Mendes as Veronica Lodge, and Cole Sprouse as Jughead Jones. Madelaine Petsch is Cheryl Blossom, Marisol Nichols is Hermione Lodge, Mӓdchen Amick is Alice Cooper, Ashleigh Murray is Josie McCoy, Casey Cott is Kevin Keller, Mark Consuelos is Hiram Lodge, Skeet Ulrich is FP Jones, Charles Melton is Reggie Mantle, and Vanessa Morgan plays Toni Topaz.

“Chapter Seventy-Two: To Die For” Plot – MURDER IN A SMALL TOWN — Alice (Amick) begins shooting a documentary about Riverdale and the latest mystery involving one of its own. Meanwhile, Betty (Reinhart), Archie (Apa) and Veronica (Mendes) fall deeper into a web of lies as the investigation gets underway.

‘Robert the Bruce’ Unveils a New Trailer and Poster

Angus Macfadyen reprises his role as Robert the Bruce in the Braveheart spin-off/sequel appropriately titled Robert the Bruce. The sequel’s hitting theaters 25 years after the release of Mel Gibson’s Braveheart and in support of the 700th anniversary of the Declaration of Arbroath – the declaration of Scotland’s independence.

Richard Gray (Sugar Mountain, Broken Ghost) directed from a screenplay by Macfadyen and Eric Belgau.

In addition to Angus Macfadyen, the cast of the 2020 drama includes Anna Hutchison (The Cabin in the Woods), Jared Harris (The Crown), Patrick Fugit (Gone Girl), Zach McGowan (The 100), Emma Kenney (The Conners), and Talitha Bateman (Love, Simon). Gabriel Bateman (Child’s Play), Kevin McNally (Pirates of the Caribbean), Brandon Lessard (Broken Ghost), Diarmaid Murtagh (The Monuments Men), Daniel Portman (Game of Thrones), and Melora Walters (Magnolia, Boogie Nights) also star.

Robert the Bruce will have a special one-night-only release by Fathom on April 16th. Screen Media will follow that with a theatrical release on April 24th.

The Plot:

“In 1306, Robert the Bruce, a member of the nobility who failed to support William Wallace’s rebellion at a critical time, crowns himself King and takes the cause of Scotland’s freedom as his own. But he cannot overcome England’s power. Defeated again and again, his army scatters, Scotland’s nobility abandons him, and The King of England places a price on his head. He finds himself alone, wounded and hunted by the very soldiers he once led.

But when he is discovered by a precocious eleven-year-old whose father died fighting alongside him, both his life and Scotland’s history are changed forever. This boy, his mother, and two orphans who share a small croft save the Bruce’s life and nurse him back to health. He becomes a part of their unique family – and they become the first soldiers in his new army – as he sets out to claim the long-awaited freedom of Scotland.”

‘The Invisible Man’ Movie Review: How Do You Fight What You Can’t See?

You know those unexplainable things that go bump in the night? Have you ever felt your skin crawl when entering an empty room? Do you freak out when your pet suddenly stares past you at something on the wall only it can apparently see? Universal Pictures’ The Invisible Man asks us to go with those feelings and commit to the possibility there is something unseen and malevolent lurking not only in dark corners but also in brightly lit hospital rooms.

The Invisible Man delves into the dysfunctional relationship of Cecilia (Elisabeth Moss) and Adrian (Oliver Jackson-Cohen), a man with tremendous anger issues and violent urges. Without speaking a word, the opening scenes of writer/director Leigh Whannell’s latest horror film convey the danger Cecilia feels and her fear of never being able to escape this abusive relationship.

A dog bowl rattles as she stealthily sneaks through their massive home at night, flipping off alarms on her way out, and carrying only a small travel bag. The sense of dread is palpable, and Whannell expertly delivers a few genuine jump scares while swiftly setting up the couple’s relationship.

Cecilia never truly feels out from under Adrian’s thumb even after they’re miles apart. And although a grizzly turn of events makes Adrian’s actual threatening presence in her life highly unlikely, Cecilia becomes convinced she’s being stalked and threatened by an invisible Adrian.

Aldis Hodge (City on a Hill) plays Officer James Lanier, a friend of Cecilia’s sister (Harriet Dyer, The Other Guy) and dad to Sydney (Storm Reid, Euphoria). It’s to the safety of James’ house that Cecilia runs, becoming almost agoraphobic in her need to stay out of sight.

James is a calming presence amid the noisiness of Cecilia’s shattered mental state. It’s only when Sydney’s put in danger that Cecilia’s forced to confront the invisible presence she believes is haunting her every move.

The Invisible Man
Aldis Hodge, Elisabeth Moss and Storm Reid in ‘The Invisible Man’ (Photo by Mark Rogers © 2020 Universal Studios)

Is Cecilia having a breakdown or does Adrian roam the rooms and hallways unseen by anyone but felt by his terrified ex? The fact we’re not quite sure and the possibility wavers between the two choices over a significant portion of the film is a credit to Elisabeth Moss’ brilliant acting and Whannell’s script and direction.

The title character is, of course, invisible for much of the running time yet his presence looms large over every scene. Stefan Duscio’s camerawork frames scenes to include empty chairs and allows what would appear to be unnecessary space to be in focus surrounding Elisabeth Moss’ Cecilia. That blank space feels like a menacing living, breathing character as Cecilia’s paranoia increases.

Whannell’s The Invisible Man doesn’t spare the gore nor does it skimp on jump scares. It also doesn’t telegraph its every move, delivering a final act that most won’t see coming.

GRADE: B+

MPAA Rating: R (for some strong bloody violence, and language)
Running Time: 110 minutes
Release Date: February 28, 2020

‘Candyman’ Official Trailer: Don’t Say His Name!

The trailer for Universal Pictures’ new entry in the Candyman franchise kicks off with a warning not to say Candyman’s name five times while looking into a mirror. Of course, that’s exactly what five high schoolers are seen doing in the next clip from the just-released trailer.

The girls stare into the restroom’s mirror, repeat the name that shouldn’t be spoken, and just like that they’re murdered before they can even leave the bathroom.

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Watchmen, Us), Teyonah Parris (If Beale Street Could Talk, The Photograph), and Colman Domingo (Euphoria, Assassination Nation) star.

Candyman – the 2020 version – was produced by MGM along with Jordan Peele and Win Rosenfeld’s Monkeypaw Productions in association with BRON Creative.

Nia DaCosta (Little Woods) directs from a screenplay by Jordan Peele and Win Rosenfield. The new film’s based on the 1992 horror movie written by Bernard Rose and the Clive Barker short story, “The Forbidden.” David Kern, Aaron L. Gilbert and Jason Cloth executive produce.

Universal Pictures is releasing Candyman in theaters on June 12, 2020.

The Plot:

For as long as residents can remember, the housing projects of Chicago’s Cabrini Green neighborhood were terrorized by a word-of-mouth ghost story about a supernatural killer with a hook for a hand, easily summoned by those daring to repeat his name five times into a mirror.

In present day, a decade after the last of the Cabrini towers were torn down, visual artist Anthony McCoy (Abdul-Mateen II) and his girlfriend, gallery director Brianna Cartwright (Parris), move into a luxury loft condo in Cabrini, now gentrified beyond recognition and inhabited by upwardly mobile millennials. With Anthony’s painting career on the brink of stalling, a chance encounter with a Cabrini Green old-timer (Domingo) exposes Anthony to the tragically horrific nature of the true story behind Candyman.

Anxious to maintain his status in the Chicago art world, Anthony begins to explore these macabre details in his studio as fresh grist for paintings, unknowingly opening a door to a complex past that unravels his own sanity and unleashes a terrifyingly viral wave of violence that puts him on a collision course with destiny.
