ABC’s set 2021 season premiere dates for returning series The Rookie and mixed-ish, as well as the new comedy Call Your Mother. The just-released schedule also includes the midseason return dates of The Goldbergs, American Housewife, and The Conners.
The Rookie‘s the first to debut in 2021 with season three arriving on January 3rd. The schedule also confirms black-ish will move to Tuesdays at 9pm PT/ET beginning on January 26th.

MIXED-ISH (SEASON 2) – TUESDAY, JAN. 26 (9:30-10:00 p.m.)
From the creators of black-ish, season two of mixed-ish will continue to tell the story of a young Rainbow Johnson and her family as they recount the experience of being a mixed-race family in the ’80s and the dilemmas they face as they navigate a world where the kids are perceived as neither black nor white. While the parents deal with the social dynamics of fitting into the suburbs, Rainbow and her siblings find themselves figuring out how to fit in when everyone else can’t decide where they belong.
CBS All Access has set a January 7, 2021 premiere date for Coyote starring Emmy Award winner Michael Chiklis (The Shield). The premiere date announcement was accompanied by an action-packed trailer for the dramatic series set in the world of cartels and smuggling.
All six episodes of season one will be available to binge on January 7th.
In addition to Michael Chiklis as Ben Clemens, the cast includes Juan Pablo Raba as Juan Diego “El Catrin” Zamora, Adriana Paz, and Kristyan Ferrer. Octavio Pisano, Cynthia Kaye McWilliams, Julio Cedillo, and Emy Mena also star in the drama.
David Graziano (American Gods) is the showrunner and co-created the series with Michael Carnes and Josh Gilbert. Graziano, Carnes, and Gilbert wrote the first season and serve as executive producers. Two-time Emmy Award winner Michelle MacLaren (Breaking Bad) directed the first two episodes and also executive produces with series star Michael Chiklis, MacLaren Entertainment’s Rebecca Hobbs, and Dark Horse Entertainment’s Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg.

Coyote is the story of Ben Clemens (Chiklis), who after 32 years as a border patrol agent is forced to work for the very people he spent his career trying to keep out of America. Lovecraft Country and Palm Springs lead the list of nominees for the inaugural Critics Choice Super Award honoring the best in superhero, science fiction/fantasy, horror, action, and animation. HBO’s Lovecraft Country collected six nominations including Best Horror Series while Hulu and NEON’s Palm Springs topped the list of film nominees with five nominations.
Following close behind Palm Spring‘s six film nominations were Birds of Prey, Freaky, Onward, Sonic the Hedgehog, The Hunt, The Old Guard, and The Willoughbys with four nominations each. On the television side, The Boys was right behind Lovecraft Country with five nominations.
The Critics Choice Association announced Kevin Smith and Dani Fernandez will host the Critics Choice Super Awards on Sunday, January 10, 2021 airing on The CW Network.

The first-ever Critics Choice Super Awards will honor the Star Trek franchise with the Legacy Award. The award will be given in recognition of “the cultural impact it has had across multiple decades while continuing to appeal to and grow its loyal fanbase with new stories and characters.” Patrick Stewart and Sonequa Martin-Green are confirmed to accept the special honor.

Lionsgate’s just released the first official trailer for the sci-fi action film, Chaos Walking, directed by Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity, Edge of Tomorrow). In addition to debuting the nearly three-minute action-packed trailer, the studio released a poster as well as photos from the film based on Patrick Ness’ book, The Knife of Never Letting Go.
Daisy Ridley and Tom Holland lead a cast that includes Mads Mikkelsen, Demián Bichir, Cynthia Erivo, Nick Jonas, Kurt Sutter, and David Oyelowo.
Patrick Ness and Christopher Ford adapted the novel for the screen. Doug Davison, Allison Shearmur, Erwin Stoff, and Alison Winter produced the drama.
The Plot:
In the not too distant future, Todd Hewitt (Holland) discovers Viola (Ridley), a mysterious girl who crash lands on his planet, where all the women have disappeared and the men are afflicted by “the Noise” – a force that puts all their thoughts on display. In this dangerous landscape, Viola’s life is threatened – and as Todd vows to protect her, he will have to discover his own inner power and unlock the planet’s dark secrets.

Fact: Monstrous moms make for great movie villains. Also a fact: Sarah Paulson can play the hell out of any role but is particularly adept at transforming into characters whose depravity is hidden behind a sleek veneer. Writer/director Aneesh Chaganty’s Run finds Paulson transformed into a doting mom from hell who’s convinced her actions are in her child’s best interests.
Spoiler alert – they’re not.
Paulson stars as Diane Sherman, a single mother of a teenage daughter who has multiple major medical conditions that require constant attention. Newcomer Kiera Allen plays the daughter, Chloe, a sharp young woman whose dream is to leave home and function independently of her mother at college. Chloe’s a wheelchair user but is determined not to let that – or her many medical conditions – hold her down.
She’s got the brains to make it in college, but as we slip into her story college acceptance letters haven’t been showing up in her mailbox. Every day she waits patiently for her mom to bring in the mail and every day she moves a step closer to resigning herself to the fact she’ll never be able to strike out on her own.
Compounding Chloe’s sense of isolation is the fact her mom doesn’t allow her to own a cell phone or her own computer and can easily limit her access to the internet. Diane controls every aspect of Chloe’s life, using a mother’s love like a tool to beat her daughter emotionally and psychologically into submission. Add in Chloe’s use of a wheelchair to get around the two-story home and there’s no aspect of the teen’s existence that isn’t under her mother’s control.
Their mostly peaceful co-existence comes to a sudden terrifying end when Chloe is forced to accept terrifying truths about her mom. How she handles this disturbing turn of events makes Run incredibly satisfying and thrilling.
Aneesh Chaganty’s Run (not to be confused with the recently canceled series of the same name) proves the filmmaker’s rookie effort – 2018’s critically acclaimed Searching – wasn’t a fluke. Chaganty and co-writer Sev Ohanian’s screenplay plays with our minds, delivering clever, unexpected twists that build up the tension leading into an explosive final act.
Run focuses on just two characters, with the majority of the action taking place in their shared home. What could feel a little claustrophobic doesn’t because of how well-written and developed both characters are and how perfectly they’re played by Sarah Paulson and Kiera Allen. Paulson’s fantastic at playing a psycho masquerading as normal and Allen, who uses a wheelchair in real life, is equally terrific as a young woman who uses her intelligence and ingenuity to seek freedom and independence from the oppressive presence of her smothering mom.
Run, premiering on Hulu on November 20, 2020, doesn’t slow walk us into this world of a creepy helicopter mom and her trapped daughter. Once the setup’s been introduced, the tension continuously ratchets up until it finally reveals the most shocking of twists that you will not see coming.

In what couldn’t have been an easy decision to make, Warner Bros. Pictures announced it’s changed the release plans for the Wonder Woman sequel, Wonder Woman 1984, due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. The much-anticipated sequel’s now set to open in U.S. theaters on December 25, 2020 in 2D and 3D and will simultaneously be available on HBO Max.
According to Warner Bros., the superhero movie will be available for one month at no additional cost to HBO Max subscribers. The film will get a December 16th release in international markets.
“As we navigate these unprecedented times, we’ve had to be innovative in keeping our businesses moving forward while continuing to super-serve our fans,” stated Ann Sarnoff, Chair and CEO, WarnerMedia Studios and Networks Group. “This is an amazing film that really comes to life on the big screen and, working with our partners in the exhibition community, we will provide that option to consumers in the U.S. where theaters are open. The PG-13 comic book-inspired movie was directed by Wonder Woman‘s Patty Jenkins and written by Jenkins, Geoff Johns, and David Callaham. The cast is led by Gal Gadot in the title role and includes Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Kristen Wiig as The Cheetah, Pedro Pascal as Max Lord, Robin Wright as Antiope, and Connie Nielsen as Hippolyta.

The hunt’s on for a serial killer who may be tied to old unsolved cases on CBS’s FBI season three episode two. Episode two, “Unreasonable Doubt,” was directed by Jean de Segonzac from a script by Tom Szentgyorgyi and will air on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at 9ppm ET/PT.
Missy Peregrym and Zeeko Zaki lead the cast as Special Agent Maggie Bell and Special Agent Omar Adom ‘OA’ Zidan. Jeremy Sisto stars as Assistant Special Agent in Charge Jubal Valentine, Alana De La Garza is Special Agent in Charge Isobel Castille, and John Boyd plays Special Agent Stuart Scola.
Episode two’s guest cast includes James Chen, Kathleen Munroe, Ari Fliakos, Erin Gann, Joshua Morgan, Karen Christie Ward, Pierre Jean Gonzalez, Meredith Handerhan, and David North.
“Unreasonable Doubt” Plot: The team races to stop an active serial killer after three women are found weighted down at the bottom of a lake, and Jubal looks into an old closed case after there are multiple similarities to the recent victims.

Born into a multigenerational law enforcement family, Special Agent Maggie Bell commits deeply to the people she works with as well as those she protects. Her partner is Special Agent Omar Adom ‘OA’ Zidan, a West Point graduate via Bushwick who spent two years undercover for the DEA before being cherry-picked by the FBI. Overseeing them is Special Agent in Charge, Isobel Castille, who operates under intense pressure and has undeniable command authority.
The team also includes Assistant Special Agent in Charge Jubal Valentine, the nerve center of the office whose ability to easily relate to and engage with both superiors and subordinates makes him a master motivator. Newest to the team – and the FBI – is smart and outspoken Special Agent Tiffany Wallace, who spent six years with the NYPD and is now partner to Special Agent Stuart Scola, an Ivy League-educated Wall Streeter-turned-FBI agent. These first-class agents tenaciously investigate cases of tremendous magnitude, including terrorism, organized crime and counterintelligence.

Disney+ just released the official trailer for High School Musical: The Musical: The Holiday Special and announced the holiday special’s soundtrack will arrive on Friday, November 20, 2020 via streaming services. The new minute and a half trailer features “The Perfect Gift,” a new song written and performed by Joshua Bassett, as well as a sneak peek at the series’ second season.
The latest entry in the High School Musical franchise will premiere on Friday, December 11th on Disney+.
The cast of the special includes Joshua Bassett, Olivia Rodrigo, Matt Cornett, Sofia Wylie, Larry Saperstein, and Julia Lester. Dara Reneé, Frankie Rodriguez, Joe Serafini, Mark St. Cyr, and Kate Reinders also star in the family-friendly holiday special.
High School Musical: The Musical: The Series creator Tim Federle and Ashley Edens executive produce the special, with Federle also directing. “The holidays remind us of the universal importance of family and loved ones,” stated Federle. “The cast of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series is its own kind of family, and we are delighted to have the opportunity to share their favorite holiday music and traditions with our viewers.”

Scream franchise creator Kevin Williamson took to Instagram to confirm the title of the latest film. The upcoming movie will be called…what for it…Scream.
The Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media Group release stars Melissa Barrera, Kyle Gallner, Mason Gooding, Mikey Madison, Dylan Minnette, Jenna Ortega, Jack Quaid, Marley Shelton, Sonia Ammar, and Jasmin Savoy Brown. Franchise veterans Courteney Cox, David Arquette, and Neve Campbell will also be back to star in Scream, again.
The new Scream was written by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick and is based on characters created by Williamson. Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett directed, with Vanderbilt, William Sherak, and Paul Neinstein producing. Williamson is involved as executive producer along with Gary Barber, Peter Oillataguerre, Chad Villella, Cathy Konrad, and Ron Lynch.
Scream is targeting a January 14, 2022 theatrical release, if theaters still exist then.
“Nearly 25 years ago, when I wrote Scream and Wes Craven brought it to life, I could not have imagined the lasting impact it would have on you, the fans,” wrote Williamson, sharing the official title. “I’m excited for you to return to Woodsboro and get really scared again. I believe Wes would’ve been so proud of the film that Matt and Tyler are making.
