Prodigal Son Season 1 Episode 13: Photos and Preview of “Wait & Hope”

The Count of Monte Cristo influences a killer in Fox’s Prodigal Son season one episode 13. Episode 13, “Wait & Hope,” will air on Monday, February 3, 2020 at 9pm ET/PT.

Michael Sheen stars as convicted serial killer Dr. Martin Whitly. Tom Payne plays Dr. Whitly’s conflicted son, Malcolm Bright. The cast also includes Bellamy Young as Jessica Whitly, Lou Diamond Phillips as Gil Arroyo, Halston Sage as Ainsley Whitly, Aurora Perrineau as Dani Powell, Frank Harts as JT Tarmel, and Keiko Agena as Edrisa Tanaka.

“Wait & Hope” Plot – Malcolm takes a detour from his mandated vacation time when he finds out a killer on the loose is mimicking homicides from one his favorite children’s books, The Count of Monte Cristo. With added help from a very excited Martin Whitly, the NYPD trace the case back to a high society family planning one of the biggest weddings of the season, so Malcolm and Dani get dressed up to attend the event and track down their culprit.

Meanwhile, Jessica scores an invite herself and is eager to make her return to the New York elite.

Season One Details:

“Malcolm Bright (Payne) has a gift. He knows how killers think and how their minds work. Why? Back in the 1990s, his father was one of the worst, a notorious serial killer called ‘The Surgeon.’ So it makes sense Bright is the best criminal psychologist around; murder is the family business.

He will use his twisted genius to help the NYPD solve crimes and stop killers, all while dealing with a manipulative mother, annoyingly normal sister, a homicidal father still looking to bond with his prodigal son, and his own constantly evolving neuroses.

Meet the happy family. Dr. Martin Whitly (Sheen) is intelligent, wealthy, charismatic and also happens to be a predatory sociopath who killed at least 23 people. Bright’s mother, Jessica Whitly (Young), an elegant and WASPy New Yorker, wields sarcasm like a samurai sword and has an opinion on every aspect of Bright’s life.

Perhaps Bright’s only ally is his sister, Ainsley Whitley (Sage), a TV journalist who wishes her brother would “take a break from murder” and have a normal life.

Unfortunately for his sister, the only way Bright feels normal is by solving cases with the help of his longtime mentor, NYPD Detective Gil Arroyo (Phillips). Arroyo’s one of the best detectives around, and he expects no less from his team – Detective Dani Powell (Perrineau), a headstrong no-nonsense cop who quickly becomes impressed with Bright’s work; and Detective JT Tarmel (Harts), a born-and-bred New Yorker who questions whether Bright is a psychopath himself.

So much for normal.”

Supernatural Season 15 Episode 10 Recap: “The Heroes’ Journey”

Supernatural Season 15 Episode 10
Jared Padalecki as Sam and Jensen Ackles as Dean in ‘Supernatural’ season 15 episode 10 (Photo: Bettina Strauss © 2020 The CW Network, LLC)

Just when you thought we’d seen it all on The CW’s Supernatural, the show goes ahead and gives us a sitcom episode when we’re halfway through the final season. That’s right, season 15 episode 10, “The Heroes’ Journey,” is all comedy with action on the side.

To start things off, we get an answer to the biggest plothole on the show, as we find out that Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) have skirted by life problems like earning money, illness, and their unhealthy lifestyle because Chuck made them immune to being normal. This explanation comes later on, before which we see our heroes suffering.

While Sam comes down with a cold and suddenly loses his cooking skills, Dean is unable to make any purchases after his credit is no good. Turns out Charlie had hacked into the system to make it essentially a never-ending bank account.

Interrupting this no good, very bad day is a call from Garth – remember that hugger werewolf? – who needs the boys’ help as his wife’s cousin has been badly beaten up, which was the result of a cage fight we saw him against a wraith at the beginning of the episode. As the boys arrive, they learn that Garth (DJ Qualls) has expanded his family to include his newest twins, Sam and…Castiel. Yup, Dean gets no love.

To resolve their normal problems like Sam’s illness and Dean’s cavities, the former is given a concoction by Garth’s wife, which almost seems to kill him since it’s mostly just cayenne pepper. As for Dean, he’s knocked out by Garth to get a free dental examination. During it, we’re treated to a bizarre sequence where Dean dreams himself and Garth to be tap dancers in the bunker. Nothing makes sense about this, but why did I love it so much?

Once the rather elongated scenes of Sam and Dean’s medications are finished with, the brothers inform Garth and his wife that God is out for them. This is where Garth sums up that Chuck has removed the Winchesters’ immunity against daily problems since he doesn’t see them as heroes in his story anymore.

Going back to Brad (Jesse Hutch), the werewolf who’d been in the cage fight, we learn that it’s a den for monsters to bet on fights and broadcast on the dark web. Although Garth doesn’t want the boys to go, since they don’t have their immunities anymore, the brothers assure him they can do this as that’s part of their job.

However, things go downhill as soon as they arrive as Dean turns out to be lactose intolerant after stuffing his face with cheese sandwiches. After getting ambushed, they find themselves locked up to fight in the main event against a behemoth vampire. Even worse is how they realize they can longer pick locks as this skill was also Chuck’s doing.

Fortunately, Garth has been tracking them and arrives to free them from captivity, and even manages to blow the whole place up using C4. The bad news is that the huge vampire they were meant to fight doesn’t get killed in the explosion and attacks the heroes. The brothers proceed to get themselves beat up bad before Garth once again saves them by slicing the vamp from behind.

Supernatural Season 15 Episode 10

Back at Garth’s, after bonding with baby Sam and Castiel, the latter of whom stares at Dean the same way normal Castiel does, the brothers hug their pal goodbye. For Garth’s sake, let’s hope this is his final appearance as the last shot is of him enjoying a dance with his wife. As for the Winchesters, they decide to head to Alaska based on advice given by Garth. It’s going to be a difficult trip, though, seeing as the Impala immediately breaks down, much to Dean’s chagrin.

Overall, I loved having a completely comedic episode since this is probably the last time the show will have a filler story. It went with Garth’s characterization for a plot to be easy on the seriousness, and we also got the explanation to Sam and Dean’s ease when it came to daily life. Let’s see what else Supernatural has in store in surprising us.

Paolo Sorrentino created, executive produces, and directs the series. Lorenzo Mieli, Mario Gianani, Riccardo Neri, Elena Recchia, Jude Law, Caroline Benjo, Carole Scotta, Simon Arnal, Jaume Roures, Javier Méndez, Nils Hartmann, and Sonia Rovai also executive produce.

The Plot:

The follow-up to 2017’s The Young Pope from Oscar-winning filmmaker Paolo Sorrentino, The New Pope dives into the inner workings of the Vatican, while exploring the very human desires, vices and fragilities of those in power and the complexities inherent in faith today.

The series picks up where The Young Pope left off, with Jude Law’s Lenny Belardo, known as Pope Pius XIII, in a coma. Following an unpredictable and mysterious turn of events, Secretary of State Voiello (Orlando) succeeds in having Sir John Brannox (Malkovich), a charming and sophisticated moderate English aristocrat, placed on the papal throne, adopting the name John Paul III.

The new pope seems ideal, but he conceals secrets and has a certain fragility, and Voiello immediately understands that it will not be easy to replace the charismatic Pius XIII. Hanging between life and death, Lenny Belardo has become a Saint, with thousands now idolizing him, fueling the contrast between fundamentalisms.

Meanwhile, the Church is under attack from external threats and scandals striking the symbols of Christianity and risking irreversibly devastating the hierarchies. As always, however, in the Vatican, nothing is what it seems. Good and evil proceed arm-in-arm towards history, and to reach the showdown, we must wait for the events to take their course.

Voiello (Silvio Orlando) prepares for a long war with the defiant Sister Lisette (Nora Waldstatten) after the nuns go on strike. Legacies Season 2 Episode 11: Photos and Preview of “What Cupid Problem?”

The CW’s Legacies season two episode 10 found a demon whispering in the ears of Salvatore High students, causing them to lash out and – in some cases – speak truths best kept hidden. The gang finally figured out why everyone was being so snarky and mean, thanks to Wade the fairy. It seems this particular beastie can only be taken down by a fairy, and Landon rallied the student body to believe in Wade’s fairy powers and defeat the demon.

Episode 11 also found Ric and Lizzie trying to help Josie get rid of the container of black magic. That was finally accomplished late in the episode by all the witches channeling their powers and sending the container off to a new prison world they created. The episode ended with Alyssa (Hope’s obnoxious and powerful roommate) sending Ric, Josie, and Lizzie off to the prison world the girls created when they were younger. And surprise! Sebastian is trapped in that same world. Thankfully, Hope figured out Alyssa’s behind the disappearance of the Saltzmans.

Up next, season two episode 11 directed by Darren Grant from a script by Penny Cox and Cynthia Adarkwa. “What Cupid Problem?” will air January 30, 2020 at 9pm ET/PT.

Legacies stars Danielle Rose Russell as Hope Mikaelson, Jenny Boyd as Lizzie Saltzman, Kaylee Bryant as Josie Saltzman, and Quincy Fouse as MG. Aria Shahghasemi is Landon Kirby, Peyton Alex Smith is Rafael Waithe, and Matt Davis is Alaric Saltzman.

“What Cupid Problem?” Plot – LOVE IS IN THE AIR WHEN CUPID SHOWS UP IN MYSTIC FALLS — After learning that Josie, Lizzie and Alaric are in trouble, Hope (Russell) leads the charge to save them. Meanwhile, Landon (Shahghasemi) seizes the chance to keep an eye on the latest monster in town in order to prove himself useful.

Elsewhere, MG’s (Fouse) attempt at a perfect first date with Kym (guest star Ebboney Wilson) takes a disastrous turn when Hope enlists his help in her plan.

The Season 2 Plot:

Last season, viewers were thrilled to tap into a whole new passion for The Vampire Diaries / The Originals universe, when the third installment in the franchise launched with Legacies. Set in the Salvatore Boarding School for the Young and Gifted, Legacies told the story of the next generation of supernatural beings as they learn what it means to be special in a world that may never understand. Typically a school for vampires like MG (Fouse), werewolves like Rafael (Smith) and witches like twins Lizzie (Boyd) and Josie Saltzman (Bryant), the kids and their beloved headmaster Dr. Alaric Saltzman (Davis) were stunned to come face to face with a series of monster and creatures they had only ever heard of in myth and lore. A dragon. A gargoyle. The Headless Horseman.

The evil behind the real-life resurrection of these formerly fictional beings proved to have a horrifying connection to the school’s newest student, Landon Kirby (Shahghasemi). This led his first and only love, Hope Mikaelson (Russell), the school’s shining star, to sacrifice her place at the school — and in the world — to protect Landon from a terrible fate.

Season two will show us a world without Hope Mikaelson and all the chaos that goes along with it. All the while, Hope will be trying to find her way back to the school she has learned to call home and the friends she has learned to love like family. It will be filled with new monsters and more romantic and emotional surprises than ever.
