‘Snowpiercer’ Season 2 Unveils a Teaser Trailer Featuring Sean Bean

TNT’s New York Comic Con virtual panel for Snowpiercer included the premiere of season two’s teaser trailer. The panel also included the announcement season two will debut on January 25, 2021 at 9pm ET/PT.

Sean Bean (Game of Thrones) and Rowan Blanchard (Girl Meets World) are newcomers to the post-apocalyptic sci-fi action thriller, and this first look teaser shows a lot of clips of Sean Bean as Mr. Wilford. Here’s hoping Bean’s character, who was discussed in season one but didn’t appear, doesn’t follow the normal “Sean Bean always dies” trope and will survive for most of the new season.

Oscar winner Jennifer Connelly (A Beautiful Mind) and Grammy and Tony Award winner Daveed Diggs (Hamilton) return to lead the cast as Melanie and Layton, respectively. The season two cast also includes Emmy nominee Alison Wright (The Americans), Mickey Sumner (Frances Ha), Iddo Goldberg (Peaky Blinders), Katie McGuinness (Dirty Filthy Love), Tony Award winner Lena Hall (Hedwig and the Angry Inch), Annalise Basso (Bedtime Stories), Sam Otto (Jellyfish), Roberto Urbina (Narcos), Sheila Vand (Argo), and Steven Ogg (The Walking Dead).

Graeme Manson, Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, Matthew O’Connor, Ben Rosenblatt and Scott Derrickson executive produce the series. Bong Joon Ho, Miky Lee, Tae-sung Jeong, Park Chan-wook, Lee Tae-hun, and Dooho Choi – producers of Snowpiercer the film – also are involved as executive producers.

The Snowpiercer Plot, Courtesy of TNT:

At the end of season one, the survivors of the revolution are trying to pick up the pieces and maintain a fragile peace amongst the now merged classes with Layton (Diggs) emerging as the train’s leader. Discovering Mr. Wilford (Bean) is alive and headed their way on a rival train, Melanie (Connelly) risks going outside to prevent him from invading Snowpiercer.

While she’s out there, it’s revealed that Alexandra (Blanchard), Melanie’s daughter, who she thought had died, is alive and has become Wilford’s dedicated protegee.

In season two, an entirely new power struggle emerges, causing a dangerous rift as people are divided between their loyalty to Layton and to Mr. Wilford, who has a new train, new technology and a game plan that keeps everyone guessing. While Layton battles Wilford for the soul of Snowpiercer, Melanie leads the charge on a shocking new discovery that could change the fate of humanity.

K-pop superstars BTS’ virtual concert “Map of the Soul ON:E” is arriving this weekend. The show will be live-streamed across two days, beginning at 6am ET on October 10th and 3am ET on October 11th. All ticket holders will also have access to the replay of the live events (in the form of “delayed single-view streaming”) at 10pm ET on October 10 and 11.

“Map of the Soul ON:E” marks the band’s first concert in four months. Their most recent concert was “Bang Bang Con: The Live” in June which was viewed by 756,600 fans across 107 regions and set a new Guinness World Record for ‘most viewers for a music concert live stream.’

“Map of the Soul ON:E” will feature BTS performing on four massive stages, making it appear as if they are in four different venues. The concert will also incorporate technological features such as AR, XR, and 4K/HD to bring viewers a more vivid and theatrical concert experience. In addition, it will provide “multi-view live streaming” that displays six multi-view screens that will allow fans to select their favorite view.

After a year of preparation, “Map of the Soul ON:E” will include spectacular stages and feature never-before-seen performances as well as altered setlists for each day.

BTS was slated to kick off their “Map of the Soul Tour” back in April of this year but that was canceled due to the Covid-19 global pandemic. The exciting news of the virtual concert arrives on the heels of BTS’ announcement of their new album BE (Deluxe Edition) slated for release on November 20th.

The group just wrapped up a week-long residency on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon where they performed all five nights and even participated in games with Fallon throughout the week. The special week-long series generated the number 1 “most social week” in late-night television in history, according to The Tonight Show in a statement to Billboard. The Tonight Show picked up more than 900,000 new YouTube subscribers during the BTS residency by posting the group’s performances each night.

‘Soul’ is the Latest Film to Move to a Streaming Release

Pixar's Soul

Soul is the latest feature film to forego its planned theatrical release and instead be made available on a streaming platform. Walt Disney Company confirmed the new Pixar film will not arrive in domestic theaters in late November as had been scheduled and instead will stream on Disney+ beginning December 25, 2020.

Unlike Mulan, Soul will be available to subscribers at no additional charge.

“We are thrilled to share Pixar’s spectacular and moving Soul with audiences direct to Disney+ in December,” said Bob Chapek, Chief Executive Officer, The Walt Disney Company. “A new original Pixar film is always a special occasion, and this truly heartwarming and humorous story about human connection and finding one’s place in the world will be a treat for families to enjoy together this holiday season.”

Oscar winner Pete Docter (Inside Out, Up) co-directed with writer Kemp Powers (One Night in Miami). Jamie Foxx, Tina Fey, Phylicia Rashad, Ahmir Questlove Thompson, Angela Bassett, and Daveed Diggs lend their voices to the animated feature.

“The world can be an exhausting and frustrating place – but it’s also full of unexpected joys, even in seemingly mundane things,” said Docter, director and Chief Creative Officer of Pixar Animation Studios. “Soul investigates what’s really important in our lives, a question we’re all asking these days. I hope it will bring some humor and fun to people at a time when everyone can surely use that.”

The Plot:

“What is it that makes you…YOU? Pixar Animation Studios’ Soul introduces Joe Gardner (Foxx) – a middle-school band teacher who gets the chance of a lifetime to play at the best jazz club in town. But one small misstep takes him from the streets of New York City to The Great Before – a fantastical place where new souls get their personalities, quirks, and interests before they go to Earth.

Determined to return to his life, Joe teams up with a precocious soul, 22 (Fey), who has never understood the appeal of the human experience. As Joe desperately tries to show 22 what’s great about living, he may just discover the answers to some of life’s most important questions.”

Kate Mulgrew Reprises Her Role as Captain Janeway for ‘Star Trek: Prodigy’

Alex Kurtzman joined showrunners Dan and Kevin Hageman (Trollhunters, Ninjago) to reveal Kate Mulgrew is reprising her role as Captain Kathryn Janeway for the new Nickelodeon and CBS Studios animated series, Star Trek: Prodigy. The announcement was made as part of the New York Comic Con’s “Metaverse,” with Mulgrew joining the chat to explain why she’s so happy to reprise her popular character.

“I have invested every scintilla of my being in Captain Janeway, and I can’t wait to endow her with nuance that I never did before in Star Trek: Prodigy,” said Mulgrew. “How thrilling to be able to introduce to these young minds an idea that has elevated the world for decades. To be at the helm again is going to be deeply gratifying in a new way for me.”

Alex Kurtzman said, “Captain Janeway was held to a different standard than her predecessors. She was asked to embody an inhuman level of perfection in order to be accepted as ‘good enough’ by the doubters, but showed them all what it means to be truly outstanding. We can think of no better captain to inspire the next generation of dreamers on Nickelodeon, than she.”

The upcoming series was developed by the Emmy Award winning Hageman siblings and comes from CBS’ Eye Animation Productions, Secret Hideout, and Roddenberry Entertainment. The Hagemans, Kurtzman, Heather Kadin, Katie Krentz, Rod Roddenberry, and Trevor Roth are involved as executive producers.

“Kate’s portrayal of Captain Janeway is truly iconic, and has resonated with a global audience for many years,” stated Ramsey Naito, President, Nickelodeon Animation. “We can’t wait to see her bring this character to life in a whole new way, while continuing to be an inspiration for both new and loyal fans.”

The Plot:

Star Trek: Prodigy follows a group of lawless teens who discover a derelict Starfleet ship and use it to search for adventure, meaning and salvation. The CG-animated series will debut exclusively on Nickelodeon in 2021 for a new generation of fans.

Something unnatural is happening in the swamps outside Marais, Louisiana. When a mysterious illness strikes the town, CDC investigator (and former Marais native) Dr. Abby Arcane is sent to investigate. At the hospital, she encounters biologist Alec Holland who believes the bizarre illness might be connected to his scientific work in the swamp for powerful businessman Avery Sunderland.

Abby has a history with Avery and Maria Sunderland, who still blames the young Arcane for the tragic death of her daughter years before. But with a deadly swamp-born virus out there, something is wrong in Marais right now. Along with Sheriff’s Deputy Matt Cable, Abby once again crosses paths with Alec, but this time they encounter a terrifying, dark force that’s not only killed intruders but is also taking control of its victims.

At Delroy’s Roadhouse, Abby consults her old friend and local reporter Liz Tremayne who has a lead deep in the swamp. When Alec goes missing after investigating the unnatural experiments deep in the swamp, something else rises in his place: Swamp Thing, a mysterious creature born of the depths of the swamp’s mystical and terrifying secrets. With nature wildly out of balance and coming for the people of Marais, in the end, it may take some Thing from the swamp to save it.
